Have been here for brunch a few times now thanks to a recommendation from a friend. My experience here has been good, I haven't been disappointed by the food, but just sometimes have had semi-okay service. I haven't experienced rude workers, they've always been nice and helpful with answering questions, but I think because of how busy they get sometimes things are forgotten (extra napkins or more sugar for example). Everything I've ordered has been delicious with generous portions. My favorite item so far is the chilaquiles. I love that it comes with bean and rice, a grilled jalapeño, and a delicious cut of meat. Recently came with friends and everyone ordered a different dish that turned out great. We ordered the chicken and waffle, roosters omelette, gringo skillet, Santa Fe omelette, and chilaquiles, and mimosas! All the food was good and filling, and the mimosas were delicious and beautiful. Definitely will continue coming back, but really want to try their location on the river next. read more

The French toast was made with regular bread it was ok, to me doesn't give a great yummy taste like the Texas toast does. My fault for not asking if they made it with Texas toast. We've tried and tried to make it work. It starts with the upsell, but not your normal upsell. This is the kind that is a trick to make you think the berries or the bacon, or whatever actually comes with it but in reality it's another add on. Then the over medium eggs come watery and slimy, the potatoes come cold with mushy cold green peppers, but the French toast is serviceable (hence the generous 2nd star). Now comes the time to pay and the waitress is suddenly very chatty and nice as she stands over you as you tip. The hostess was nice and the coffee wasn't burned. Saturday brunch, it was ok. I got the steak and eggs with country fried potatoes and my friend got the chipotle avocado sandwich. Her sandwich had good flavors in it. My ribeye had a cut that was more fatty meat than expected. After trimming it off, I had about a palm size of fat. Scrambled eggs were super well done. Not fluffy or soft, so 4 stars for the sandwich but 3 for my steak and eggs that was a 19.99 plate. They also got Vietnamese coffee which was super random to me. It had condense milk but the coffee taste is different. Roosters is my favorite breakfast place to go. My wife and I come often. As a senior, I get the privilege of coming during the week when its not so busy. Staff is amazing, food is delicious and proximity to restaurant is great from my house. Always plan to go early as this is a busy happening place. read more

The servers were really friendly and portions decent (aside from the little mimosas) but such a long wait time for seating, getting drinks and food. It was probably 30 minutes until we had water. My group of friends gets together for breakfast at least once a quarter. We're on a mission to try breki spots all throughout the 916 area. This was my first time coming to this establishment. We were the first to arrive and didn't have any issues getting seated. The server was really cool. Made small talk with us and made us feel comfortable. I sought out the high protein options and stumbled upon the "Alambre" with an added side of over medium eggs and avocado. The dish consisted of chorizo chunks, with sliced asada, grilled onions and bell peppers. More like a fajita skillet. The meat was really tough and hard to chew. The bell peppers also didn't feel well cooked and were extra firm. Overall the service and presentation was average and the food fell below. I'd go here again and might ask what their signature dishes are. Maybe this dish was a one-off experience. For now I'd they their average. read more

This place has been a solid go to for me and my husband's breakfast dates. Whether busy or slow, the staff is always attentive and the food is always hot in all of course, always tasty. Price wise, you get a pretty good value for your buck, which is important in this economy.. Consistency in service, consistency in food will keep us coming back. This was mine and my partner's first time visiting this restaurant. We accompanied family here for a Mother's Day breakfast, and what started off great ended really, really badly. When we first sat down, we got our menus and started looking over the options. My partner noticed a disclaimer at the bottom stating that parties of 6 or more are automatically charged a 20% gratuity. Normally that wouldn't bother me, but if a restaurant is going to require that high of a gratuity, I expect the service and customer care to match it. Our waitress already seemed a little standoffish from the beginning, but since it was Mother's Day and clearly busy, we tried not to take it personally. She took our drink orders and eventually came back for our food order. After ordering, we waited about 25-30 minutes before any food came out. Even then, only 3 out of the 4 plates arrived, and the waitress walked away without bringing utensils for us to even eat the food. We waited another 10 minutes trying to get her attention, but she completely ignored our gestures. Eventually we had to ask another waiter nearby for utensils. He informed our waitress, and she finally brought them over and just dropped them in the middle of the table. At that point, I tried to let her know my soda had become watered down from sitting so long, and she came over looking visibly irritated, dropped off another drink, and immediately walked away. Finally, everyone's food arrived and we started eating and this is where things got disgusting. My partner ordered French toast, and while pouring syrup from the bottle on the table, a dead fly came out of it. Yes, a dead fly INSIDE the syrup bottle. We immediately called the waitress over and showed her. She looked disgusted and said she would get the manager. Apparently the manager couldn't even come address the situation personally and instead had the waitress relay that they could either remake the meal or remove it from the bill. Honestly, after finding a dead fly in the syrup, they should have done BOTH automatically. It was absolutely unacceptable and unsanitary. My partner decided to just have it removed from the tab because by that point we didn't even want to wait for another meal. After that interaction, the waitress became even ruder. The bill still came out to over $200, which is expected with a larger party, but for the level of service and cleanliness we experienced, it felt outrageous. Overall, this was some of the worst customer service I've experienced, along with a genuinely nasty dining environment. Somebody seriously needs to contact the health department about this place. If you decide to eat here, I honestly recommend checking everything carefully especially the syrup bottles on the tables. The opening on the bottle was way too large and appeared to be missing a cap entirely, which probably explains how something like this could happen in the first place. Definitely do not recommend this restaurant. Wish I took a photo of the fly but I was too disgusted to even do that. read more

I came on a Monday morning the place was not busy at all, huge menu too many choices so little time and small stomach I wanted to try everything in the menu but I ended up choosing the green chilaquiles I'm glad they made my order with half green and half red salsa chilaquiles otherwise I would've never ask for the red chilaquiles and they were delicious no complaints here the beans were on point and the green lime rice was also good definitely woke up my curiosity to come back and try something else of the menu in the future. I'ma green salsa persons don't care much for red spice but their red salsa was really good fresh it was not the traditional red enchilada this one was made fresh with tomatoes and everything (onion, cilantro even oregano) something that my mamma makes at home super tasty. Definitely worth the drive from my house and worthy of bringing my family here for brunch in the future. This isn't our first time coming to Roosters so we kinda had a feel for what the food and ambiance is like in general. It was a pretty busy Sunday morning, which is expected for any brunch spot but we were luckily seated pretty quickly. The speed at which food was coming out wasn't too fast but then again it was pretty busy inside so be prepared to wait a couple minutes for food to come out. We ordered a strawberry spritz as a little refreshing drink to cool off but felt a little disappointed as it wasn't as fizzy and felt like it had been sitting for a while. 4/5 The chilaquiles are served with a piece of what I called carne asada and they were honestly really good and not too spicy. They're served with rice and beans and the rice is honestly pretty top tier. My wife ordered a breakfast scramble or skillet and she said the potatoes weren't honestly the best which I could agree on. 4/5 Definitely want to check out their on the river location but other than that this one should be in your brunch spot rotation in the Sacramento area. read more

I got the Blackberry Mojito (very tart), Peachy Dream (sweetest out of the four), California Dreamin (OG mimosa), and Morning Sky (blue curaçao). Highly recommend the Peachy Dream! The espresso martini is not creamy straight liquor and espresso if you like it like that. I ordered the crab Benedict with house potatoes. The potatoes are nice and soft but very dry. But nothing salt and pepper and some hot sauce can't fix. The crab cakes sits on a buttery English muffin and were crispy and flavorful! My eggs were very overcooked so I would just remind them that you want the inside ooey gooey. Service was nice and attentive. We sat outside next to the river while they played R&B music. I visited here recently and loved the vibe. We pulled into a very busy parking lot. Thank goodness they have plenty of parking. Their parking lot was shared by multiple businesses. The front doesn't pop out as much as from the front, but then again, you can't miss the packed parking lot and a packed parking lot means everyone knows a good place when they find one! I love that there is out front seating available. Although a bit chilly outside, there were space heaters available to keep you warm. We were able to get a table inside, right away while it was busy. I loved that we were cozy in the corner. Right away, I went off my friend Julie's recommendation. The breakfast burrito and added carnitas chili verde as our meat (yes, an upcharge). After browsing the mimosas, we decided it would be best to order a bottle of their champagne. With that, you get 2 flavors of juice. We decided to get the original orange juice, and I have this secret obsession with guava. It was something I used to drink during my training wheel days as a wee little one, so when I see it, it is a wonderful splurge. When the mimosa arrived, I asked if it came with more juice if we requested, and our server looked at me like I was crazy and told us no... OK. Maybe I was a lightweight, but I wanted to enjoy myself. Not get drunk. I requested the channel in the room be put on something. Anything but that screen that pops up from non-activity. The mimosas looked gorgeous. The presentation was really lovely. Each glass was garnished with an orchid. The orange juice with mimosa was good. I guess it's very original, but the mimosa with guava juice was absolutely delicious. When our food arrived about 20 minutes into our service, Julie's burrito had been popped open (these are packed eggs, cheese and your choice of meat if you picked one, so lots of chili verde!). Mine looked like it was rolled pretty nice. These breakfast burritos come with a side of verde sauce, creama, and salsa (I had dipped my finger in the sauces taste testing, mmm) Then suddenly, a food server came over to my table trying to take my burrito. I figured I received the wrong one, but with the language barrier, he didn't understand why I was keeping the sauces. He was also trying to hand me a burrito that someone else had already cut in half. BIG NO NO! After another server nearby helped him understand why I was keeping the sauces, and let me know I had the wrong burrito, and told him he could not serve me a burrito someone else had already touched and cut into... they whisked mine away to make a brand new one. I kept the sauces, and they delivered the burrito in front of me to the right person. They had my remake done in 5 minutes. Julie waited for me to receive my food before she dug in. Her's stayed hot while we waited for mine. We didn't see our original server until close to the end of our breakfast. She did ask about our food, which we said was delicious, but when I asked again for the channel to please be changed to anything, she rolled her eyes and walked off. Never to be seen again until it was time to pay. The delicious chili verde breakfast burrito made up for the hiccup worth food (and our waitresses attitude, you can't roll your eyes when I had to ask for something twice because you forgot... and I was nice about it both times). I did, however, notice there a 2 bottle giant mimosa available in a giant glass to share with whomever you are with. Great for a few people in your party... She did not check up on our table and made you feel like a burden for asking for water/ranch. I was also served undercooked food and she was very hostile. Gave Rooster's another shot last weekend for brunch, and was a bit more impressed. Besides being much sunnier & warmer (compared to the cold, foggy weekday I visited last December), the ambiance on a sunny September Sunday definitely improved the vibe check. We called to make reservations for our party of 5 for noon, and were seated fairly quickly for how packed the restaurant was; after ordering a round of drinks at the bar, our table was ready! Once we were seated, we promptly ordered 2 of their GIANT mimosas. HOW giant, you ask? Well, these puppies come in ENORMOUS champagne flutes that hold 2 BOTTLES of champagne + whatever flavor juice you want - they have an extensive selection of flavors to choose from! Besides the booze, I opted to order the Roosters Chilaquiles: tortilla chips sautéed in red+green sauce, steak, 2 poached eggs, onions, cilantro, queso fresco, sour cream, & a side of black beans and cilantro lime rice - it was delicious! The rest of my party cleaned their plates, too - those of us who could finish, anyway. Their portions are pretty generous, and - let's be honest - once you've filled your belly with enough mimosa, you may not have much room left for food. We split 2 giant mimosas between 4 people and it was PLENTY. I have been to Rooster's many times over the years. It had been probably a good year or year and a half since I have been. I came with my mom hoping for a great breakfast. Was so disappointed. My mom was torn between biscuits and gravy or the monte Cristo. The server said the gravy fresh made so she chose that. What came out was so awful. It was liquid. Almost some broth with a touch of cream. And the "sausage" was not even sausage. No idea what it was. I had the BLT and added a fried egg. It was fine, nothing special. I was extremely sad as they really went downhill. Maybe they are focusing on the new location? Sad that we now have one less breakfast place to go to. read more

A nice young lady took our order and our food finally came, we asked for ketchup. Our server never brought it. I order the gringo skillet and it was FULL of BELL PEPPERS. We went for brunch on a Saturday at noon. We were greeted and seated immediately. In a normal amount of time they took our order. This is where things started going south. My daughter ordered a latte but was brought a hot chocolate. I ordered a Mexican mocha and it as lukewarm. We didn't send it back because we were pretty laid back people. Our food order consisted of: 1. Breakfast enchiladas with green sauce. The green sauce was excellent. It came with chicken, which didn't seem very breakfast-y to me but it was tasty. 2. My daughter had the build your own breakfast with biscuits and gravy, hot links, eggs and hash browns. Everything was good except the gravy, which needed more flavor. 3. I got the chilaquiles which, should've been delicious but they had been sitting too long before they brought it out so it was a warm pile of mush with melted queso fresco. I actually got queasy thinking about eating it. The waitress offered to make a new plate but we were pressed for time, so I ate it. I was sad because this had the potential to be an amazing meal. We came here for brunch on a Saturday. There were quite a few people eatting here so I had high hopes. When I can I always order Chile Verde to gauge how good a restaurant is. I'd give Roosters about a 2 out of 5. Zero spice to the green sauce. The pork was relatively lean (which is my preference) so that raised the score a little. The wife had chicken and waffles. She enjoyed it but wouldn't order it again. OK, now to talk about everything else. Service was underwhelming but, in their defense, it was pretty busy so am giving them a pass. To be clear, they were very friendly when we interacted with them. I absolutely loved the character of this place! Great art and feel. Parking was minimal but not a deal breaker. The people next to us ordered a drink that was cartoonishly large! Like 2 feet tall. They had to stand up to drink it. I want to like this place. For that reason I will give them another try down the road. If I have a better experience, I will most definitely give them some love. read more
