    French toast

Service was fantastic when we first arrived! The host was great and made a really good first impression. Unfortunately, our waitress only came around about twice during our meal, so the service after being seated could have been a little more attentive. The French toast was really disappointing. It tasted like they forgot to add any vanilla or cinnamon--it honestly tasted like regular bread that had just been lightly toasted. The pancake was also extremely hard, almost rock hard. I know oranges aren't necessarily in season right now, but whatever oranges were used for the fresh orange juice were not the best. For $6 for such a small glass, I was definitely expecting better quality. There were some positives though! The jam was really good they say they make it in house! And the syrup comes out hot!

Stopped at this wonderful cafe on our way back from Kings canyon. What an amazing surprise this was. The service was perfect. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was just right. Wish we had a place like this where I live. When you're in this area, do yourself a favor and stop by for a great meal.

The chilaquiles were pretty good & pretty good portion. In the menu it said I came with guacamole & was topped with avocado . The fresh squeezed oj was nothing special tasted like the gallon juice & was priced at $7. So I expected something maybe a little bigger ? French toast was okay , again nothing special . Comes plain so you have to pay $2.99 for EACH additional topping. They don't have mixed fruit so you pay $2.99 for maybe one whole strawberry , & $2.99 for half a banana. Came out to $16 , no sides. Service was good! Restaurant was cute , probably wouldn't go again though.

Country Fried Steak and eggs with country potatoes and a side of biscuits and gravy

Such a cute breakfast spot. Food was delicious and the food came out so quick. Our server was very nice and helpful.

We've been here twice this week. The first time we had Sara, and she was absolutely wonderful and so accommodating. Today we had Amanda and she was also wonderful. We sat outside cause we had our beagle with us and they brought him a bowl of cold water. Food is also great! My husband and son are big breakfast people and they definitely did not disappoint. I had the chili verde omelette one day and biscuits and gravy the other time. Very good. Great service and atmosphere.

It's been 1 year and 3 months since I last ate here. I thought I'd give them a second chance but nope, same scam. Now I have to dig through my trash to find the receipt so I can go pay them a visit. Last time this happened, I think it was March 2024. The manager or owner whoever it was told me there's a password on the card terminal that only he can access to re-process sales and that he "accidentally hit a button" that caused it. I call BS. My gut says: never come back here. Once I find the receipt, I'll post a photo showing no tip. If the owner tries to show a receipt with a tip added, then they forged it and I'll demand to see the CCTV footage of me signing that receipt. How does this keep happening to me? And how does no one else ever check their bank notifications? Found the receipt here's the photo. Update: 6/24/2025, 1:00 PM I went to speak with the manager or owner. The lady at the register said they haven't seen the owner in weeks. She told me I could take cash on the spot or wait for him. I was like, "Weeks? Yeah, no. I'm not waiting weeks for my $2.18 back." So I took the cash. I didn't need to play the long game with the bank which can take months or sue for $2 (which, ironically, could later cost the owner hundreds of thousands in court and recovery fees... plus the $2). And yes, I'm that petty. If you know your card terminal is doing this, and you didn't even argue when I mentioned being overcharged then why haven't you changed your terminal or processor in the 1 year and 3 months since it last happened? It's as if you're the one doing it. Trying to quietly score an extra couple bucks per customer. Some might say, "It's just $2, let it go." But if they're doing this to every customer, all day, every day? That adds up. It's like those movies where a bank teller notices one cent going to waste, writes some code to collect the spare change, and ends up making millions. her hands were visibly shaking when handing me the $2 back. she knew. didnt even argue nor deny it. lost my business forever can't keep allowing this to happen, "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me." yelp wont let me post the receipt but you can see my review on google. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/geougc-cs/AB3l90D63s_eonILt4wyWUPs59rT2WsdgXs8Bpv9KHj9yBplyY44I5YT2ZzPGAEfgx1Qo108qOO0wKlBozVt2_g4SgXh1CcDOyQ_U7bYIwB_O1mXmG0fZOgVLB811yRzGrnYX5CRwO3CxgTdTYXv=s3360-w3360-h1798-rw

The moment I walked in, I was met with a mix of textures, a brick wall on one side, a row of mirror‑panels dressed like windows on the other, and a clean white wall in the back. It's an interesting blend, almost theatrical, like the space is trying to tell a story before you even get to the food. And the food is where things get fun. The display case is packed with pastries, croissants, cannoli, muffins, all the sweet treats a bakery should have, each one looking like it was made to tempt you. I stood there longer than I expected, going back and forth on what to choose because everything looked good. I finally settled on the berry vanilla pastry, and it was worth the indecision. Flaky, powdered with sugar, creamy from the custard, and sweet from the berries, the kind of pastry that makes a mess and doesn't apologize for it. I didn't know the "proper" way to eat it, so I just picked it up and took a bite. Sometimes that's the best way to meet a pastry for the first time. As I sat there, I noticed the atmosphere shift around me, religious canvases on the walls, Bible verses printed on the tables, and gospel music playing softly in the background. It's a bakery rooted deeply in faith, and the environment reflects that. Not in an overwhelming way, but in a way that tells you exactly what kind of values built the place. Then I looked up at the menu wall coffee, teas, refreshers, sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. Plenty of options that would easily pull me back in on another day. I just need to make sure I don't get distracted by the pastry case again before I even get to the menu. Jireh Bakery is a sweet little spot with personality, good pastries, and an atmosphere that stands out. I came in for a treat, and I left already thinking about what I'll try next time.

I first reviewed Pete's Place many years ago, back when I was just starting out with simple food…read morereviews. Coming back now, I wanted to see if it still lived up to the five stars I gave it back then, not out of nostalgia, but out of curiosity. The menu has grown into a wide spread: sandwiches, salads, burgers, chicken fried steak, even pasta. It's the kind of menu that makes you realize this place is built to feed everyone, no matter what they're in the mood for. I started with something simple, a water on a hot summer day, and it arrived with a lemon wedge. It's a small touch, but one I haven't seen in a while. The kind of detail that tells you someone still cares about the basics. It was lunchtime, so I waited a bit to be seated, but that's just part of dining in a small town. The waitress was kind, patient, and attentive in a way that stood out. Before I could even ask, she refilled my water multiple times, noticing the half‑empty glass and taking care of it without hesitation. That kind of service goes a long way. I ordered the jalapeño burger, and it came out faster than expected. The fries were lightly salted steak fries, my favorite, and cooked just right. The burger itself was a mixed experience. The bun was grilled, which gave it good flavor, but it also made it collapse into a thin, flat shape the moment I picked it up. And while I ordered a jalapeño burger expecting heat, the jalapeños were thick, grilled slices from a large pepper. Every bite was dominated by jalapeño, to the point where the burger itself got lost in the background. I love spicy food, but the balance was off, more jalapeño than burger. Still, the service was warm, the goodbye on the way out was genuine, and the menu has enough variety that I'd come back to try something different. I'm not handing out five stars this time, but I'm also not writing this place off. Pete's Place is part of Exeter's rhythm, and revisiting it felt like checking in with an old spot that still has plenty to offer, just maybe not that jalapeño burger again.
