The first thing you notice when you walk in was the place and I thought it was a cool place, very open. To one side they have an area for what seems to be the weekend live band and the other side is just open tables. Clean restaurant and they play good authentic Mexican music like corridos. It was daytime when i showed up n it was kind of lonely. It seems like it would be more of a vibe on like the weekend when they have live music. It was posted that mariachi was on fridays and Sundays. The server was nice and friendly. A bit shy but did well. , I ordered a Mi Chelada n i gotta say I was expecting a better cup. Iv been to other places where they bring out some really nice appealing michis. Although the one they brought out was good it was just very simple in my opinion for 12.50$. I guess I was expecting a shrimp sticking out of it or like a better dressed cup. The Food! I ordered the ceviche tostada n I was very content with my order. It looked fresh, had fresh ingredients seemed very appealing, and had great taste, It needed some salt but I feel better me adding it rather it being over seasoned. I rate it a 5 out of 5. Oh by the way they serve you chips and salsa w a side of smashed beans w out charge like some places. I really liked that. Chips seemed freshly made in the house. I liked that. Makes it feel more authentic, My wife had 2 tacos one GOVERNADOR and another just fish taco. Had a celebration in their back room and it was good! The staff was very accommodating and they had another party plus customers coming in. The bar was friendly and variety of drinks! Service was great, ambient was very pleasant. We came for lunch and we saw that they serve chilaquiles. If you know me you know I love chilaquiles. My friend got the same but green salsa. I got the red ones. I don't think they used fried tortillas. They were too soft and soggy. Usually they are fried first and then dip in salsa. They were just plain. I do t know if I will be back because this is in Visalia far away from home. They water was purified I was grateful for that. My friend said the same thing about her green chilaquiles. She did mention that the Jamaica drink she got was great. The bathrooms are clean and there have plenty of room to seat inside. They have music and TV. read more

Great find in Visalia! Location is convenient to downtown. The family are a highlight and you can feel the love and passion! The food was solid, we even came back for breakfast the next day. The wife and I drive around on Saturday mornings with the Yelp app open, while searching for a new spot, a possible "Gem" in the Visalia area. Last Saturday November 8th was not a disappointment. We chose El Nuevo Presidente on Santa Fe street. From the moment we walked into other door till the very moment we exited this fine establishment, we were greeted and treated to some of the finest and gracious service I've seen in a long time in my 60 years. The menu had many great selections, with great prices as well. My wife ordered menudo, and decided to try the mojarro frito (whole fish) in an amazing garlic sauce. Our meals were very tasty, so tasty we order two soups to go. Albondigas & Caldo de camerone (shrimp soup). We arrived at 5:30pm on a Tuesday and were seated immediately. We were greeted and given menus. I decided to get the giant tacos and my girlfriend ordered the chicken enchiladas. The tortillas for the tacos were handmade. The ribeye in the ribeye steak taco was seasoned well, not too salty or bland. The Enchilada Plate was also tasty but was too much for my girlfriend to finish, so we took home the leftovers. Restaurant was clean and the music was playing at an adequate volume . -- Great Service at First, But the Checkout Experience Ruined It The visit started off really well. My actual waitress was polite, attentive, and provided great service throughout the meal. Unfortunately, the experience took a negative turn at the very end when a different waitress -- who had not served me at all -- stepped in to handle the checkout. She simply asked "cash or card," and I handed her my card. She never asked about a tip or mentioned anything about adding one. I chose to leave a tip on my own, even though she wasn't my server. Later, I discovered that she altered my receipt and increased the tip to 25% without my permission. A $42 meal ended up costing $52 because she adjusted the tip to an amount she felt was "acceptable," despite barely interacting with me and only showing up at the very end to box my food. Tipping should never feel mandatory or dictated by someone's personal expectations -- especially when they weren't the one providing the service. This completely overshadowed what had been a good dining experience up until that point. I hope management addresses this, because the rest of the staff did a great job. This situation just left a disappointing final impression. I would happily respond to any managers if they ever want to figure out who did it read more

But the food came out fast because appeared like they have food already have it prepped and just reheat it. The queso birria tacos were on the dry side- weren't soaked in birria consomé/juice although came with container to dip- it was straight thick salsa not typically birria consomé. For the combination plate, similar situation the chile relleno came dry with no cream or sauce but rather same salsa on the side. And the tostada had same exact meat as birria which is why I believe they use same ingredients for everything and just reheat. read more
