Stopped by the Orange Chicken Spot because of the business name alone. I'm a sucker for since orange chicken. I'm even guilty of picking up the frozen orange chicken at Trader Joe's every now and then. I ordered the three-item combo with half rice, half noodles: hot orange chicken, pepper steak, and honey walnut shrimp. First thing I noticed was that nothing was greasy or overly salty, which already puts this place ahead of most takeout spots. The honey walnut shrimp was done right: crisp and not drowned in sauce. The orange chicken is where you should go spicy. Both versions have solid orange flavor, but the hot one is clearly better and honestly, it's not even that spicy. Just more depth. The pepper steak was a dependable pick with strong black bean flavor without crossing into being overly salty. Scan the QR code and join their rewards program. Your first one-item chicken bowl is free. Order, show your phone at the register, and done.

So maybe we came at the right time, cause I am not understanding all of these poor reviews. For a fast food Chinese take out spot, this place was really good. The staff were nice and let us sample multiple proteins, extremely helpful since it was our first time going. The chow mein was really good and I loved the garlic flavor to their noodles. In my opinion, it beats their rice any day. I chose a 2 entree plate and it had plenty of food, enough for left overs. I chose the hot orange chicken and their walnut shrimp. The hot orange chicken had a sweet tang to it and was more flavorful than their original orange. The chicken was nice and crispy. Their walnut shrimp was insanely better than pandas, you can't even compare. It was crispy with a nice panko breading, whereas you get nothing but sogginess from panda. They charge $1.50 extra but it's so worth it! They give you plenty of shrimp, cannot complain. Definitely give them a try, we went early and got there before it was packed for lunch. We will be back for sure.

What a great spot. Definitely a must try. As they say better than them others guys. I enjoyed stopping in to support and try something new. I really enjoyed the selection, the customer service as I was greeted when entering and helped quickly. It's a fast casual vibe and they even offer other menu items beside the hot food line. Their salt and pepper wings were my Fav over the pork chop ones. They offer better quality, better selection and affordable prices. Definitely add this one to your list of must try's.

Panda Express, move aside! You've gotta check out the Orange Chicken Spot in Tempe, and they're practically begging you to try them. You can snag a free chicken bowl of your choice. All new customers get one free chicken bowl on their first visit. To claim it, you usually just sign up for their loyalty program or scan a QR code at the register when you order. I went with Chicken Teriyaki and veggies over chow mein, and Shanda got Chicken Teriyaki over fried rice, and seriously, the portions are massive. We totally loved our Chicken Teriyaki bowls and are already planning to go back soon. Give them a shot next time you're craving quick Chinese, and don't forget, the first bowl's on them.

When we went last week, it was their 2nd day of their soft opening. They acknowledged they were still fine tuning their recipes. That in mind, my review reflects that. It was about 2PM on Saturday, and most of the dishes were half empty. Between husband and I, we shared the chow mein, fried rice, orange chicken, kung pao chicken, Beijing beef, black pepper beef, chicken egg roll, and hong kong egg roll. For that plus a small drink, it was $20 (soft opening price). Fried rice- super dry Chow mein- noodles not cooked enough Orange chicken- too much breading, dry kung pao chicken- ok beijing beef- ok black pepper beef- ok chicken egg roll- Probably the best thing we had (not pictured) hong kong egg roll- asked the server what this was. She didn't know. It's a veggie egg roll. Good. There's potential, but the recipes definitely need adjustments.

2.5 Stars Let me start by admitting that I fell for an Instagram reel for this place. I am here to de influence/influence your decision to stop in the Orange Chicken Spot. The first thing I noticed was the amount of foot traffic OCS had the night I visited. I was not aware of this place until I saw a social media post. This seems to be the Mom & Pop's of Panda Express and they have signs to say they are better. Very similar layout on their cafeteria style line. The employees behind the counter seemed overwhelmed. The line was unkempt with dried sauces and pieces of drying food on the stainless steel line between all the steam table pans. Maybe I caught them after a rush. We pay and get to a table and they were not all clean. I did see an employee wipe down tables when the foot traffic lightened up. The food is very passable. The carbonation in their soda fountain was so light that it was if you were drinking syrup with tap water. The chow mein was pretty bland. Again, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say the kitchen was overwhelmed as the staff behind the counter looked. My beef items had way more sweetness than savory from my mental imprint of how I have had them at other places. Overall, it will be a long while before I come back. I wish them much success and always root for the underdog.

I probably won't go back. The food was OKAY. The worker seemed as if she didn't want to be there. She moved extremely slow and as the line of people just kept growing she showed no sense of urgency. It was very clean inside though.

Came here randomly as it was a newer place and looked interesting. It's a fast casual place. I was hoping for the quality of the orange chicken to be more elevated than Panda Express, but unfortunately I couldn't taste the difference. Didn't seem like high quality food and I wouldn't return. It's not bad, it's just not good. The decor was nice though and I can see a lot of potential in this spot. I just wish the food was different enough to justify going here over a place like Panda Express.

    Westley W.

Amazing local place. Please go here instead of Panda. Similar prices, way bigger portions.

    Orange Chicken

The portions are really big, and while the breading and sauce on the chicken is good, there was too much breading the chicken was really dry. The service was quick, not fast food though.

Went to this place on a whim because I was in the area and found out they were brand new!! I was greeted very warmly upon arrival and the lady who made my plate was very kind a LOADED up my plate. I am so happy with the food, they have all the same stuff as Panda Express except it tastes better and you get more of it FOR THE SAME PRICE. If you are and ASU student or just live in the area this place is a must. Definitely my new go to over Panda Express. The inside was cute and clean as well. The fried rice and chow mein are way better than panda. The orange chicken tastes more homemade and the sauce on the mushroom chicken is great. Highly recommend

This place continues to impress me! The food is absolutely delicious every time, with standout favorites like the Chow Mein, Beef & Broccoli, Honey Walnut, and Orange Chicken.. The bomb! The atmosphere is chic, the service is excellent, and the staff and the managers are always friendly and accommodating. This is my third visit, and I've never been disappointed -- I'll definitely be coming back for more!

I ordered from the cart, somewhat point and taste. I had the salt fried shrimp, the shrimp dumplings sticky rice in leaf packets and the calamari. It was a lot and more than ample for two. The shrimp were huge and fried shell on head intact, which was fine with me, but for those who don't want to eyeball their meal, take heed. But they were crisp fresh and delicious, and salty. The calamari were fairly tender and freshly fried and salty as well. The star of the show, for me was the little shrimp dumpling. Encased in tender opaque skins, and packed with shrimp. I'd order those again. The sticky rice packets were filled with savory and seasoned ground meat, I think pork. Which i usually avoid, but I was committed. It was excellent ! I will return for another crack at the dim sum cart and this time I want to try the sweet side of the menu. Though I suppose I could always head to hmarts Paris baguettes for the custard pies, my favorite. No matter I will be back. Our service was spot on btw and the dining room began to fill after 1200. So get there early... it was old school decor which actually added to the charm of it all.

She was the saving grace as she was very nice and polite and attentive. When ever we asked for something we got it right away. Also the cart ladies are much nicer as well than the other dim sum place. The food was comparable with the other place as well. The place is large and mostly clean. It does get an oily smell as they are frying things in the open and you can see it. I do like they have fish tanks for the kids to look at the fresh fish and lobster. One thing to note is that it does seem a bit more expensive than the other dim sum place as well. It's hard to choose which dim sum place we should go to moving forward.

A Mesa Asian District Gem Worth Seeking Out…read more Asian Cafe Express is a lovely strip mall gem near H-Mart in Mesa's Asian District, and after 21 years in business, it clearly has a loyal following for good reason. We brought in a fresh lobster from H-Mart to try their "bring your own seafood" cooking option and chose the garlic onion stir fry preparation. It's $14.99 for anything under 2 lbs and $7.50/lbs for anything over. It came out excellent, served over crispy egg noodles with classic Asian flavors and plenty of wok-fired goodness. We also enjoyed the Peking pork ribs, which were deboned, tasty, and slightly sweet; the stir-fried green beans, which were fresh and well prepared; and the garlic spicy chicken wings, which were especially flavorful and highly recommended. The red bean drinks were traditional and satisfying, with soft, nicely soaked mung beans and no milk. Service was friendly, efficient, and personal, handled by a couple of ladies who clearly know the restaurant and their customers well. While we were there, plenty of regulars came in for takeout and several tables were happily dining in. Overall, we really enjoyed Asian Cafe Express and were surprised we had not stopped in sooner. Highly recommend, especially for the "bring your own seafood" cooking option and the garlic spicy wings. We will definitely be back.

Amazing Restaurant!…read more All amazing people of Phoenix, if you have not gone to this phenomenal restaurant yet, you really need to. This is one convenient, high quality, extremely flavorful Chinese place that me and my husband visited today. It was just high quality all the way! When we arrived it was quiet. Superbly clean, neat and tidy. Cute decor and a nice inviting vibe. We were sat at a table and given our menus. Prices were really good. Especially when you get the quality of food that comes out of that kitchen. Our waitress was super-nice. Which is hard to find these days. She was so nice to everyone who came in. When we sat down, a lady who wasn't too sure about the place came in asking all kinds of questions. And she patiently answered each one as if she was a close family member. A homeless guy came in asking for water. She jumped right up to give him a HUGE cup of ice and water and was so kind to him. Then other patrons came in to order and pick up food and each one, regardless of age, ethnic makeup, what they were wearing, all were greeted so warmly. Huge smiles and a constant giving and warm attitude all throughout. We were treated just as good. And for us that is very rare. We ordered a lot of various things. A cold cucumber salad, a hot appetizer, a couple of main dishes. Then the absolute most amazing signature steak on the Chef's Speciality. WOW. The salad and appetizers came out first. Salad really cold and refreshing. Super crisp and cut nicely. Amazing flavor. Then the appetizers were super hot and fresh. Not oily. Bursting with flavor. Then the mains came. Everything cooked perfectly. The flavors of each dish just screaming at my taste buds. Enjoyed every bite. Then they brought out the steak for my husband. So juicy. So tender. And the sauce in the side just added to the flavor. We savored every bite. The quality and temperatures and flavors are off the chart. We could not finish all this bliss in one sitting, se we asked for boxes and containers. She gave us many to separate everything and a bag to haul it home in. Always asking if we needed anything else and being authentically polite. This place should be packed. You are missing out if you have not tried New Hong King Restaurant. Amazing service.
