Beef chow fun - so so and lacked flavor
    Vivian H.

Took my mom here tonight as she is visiting from the East Coast and she enjoyed our dinner! My mom is an excellent cook, so she's a pretty picky eater because she makes most dishes better than most restaurants, so to have my mom say this place was good is a pretty high accolade. Some friends brought me here a year ago and I also thought the food was really good here. Everything was authentic and very tasty. Tonight we had very authentic Cantonese dishes and you have to know what regional foods to order to get the most of your experience. Analogous to the US is that you would go to Texas or Tennessee for BBQ and NYC for pizza and bagels and the Southwest for good Mexican. Same philosophy with Chinese food. My mother likes duck, I will eat it only occasionally with her. We ordered a half roasted duck, my mom enjoyed but did mention it was a bit wetter than she liked. It was moist and had a good flavor is my critique. We also ordered beef chow fun and also a seafood hot pot. Seafood hot pot was delicious and very good! Lots of seafood and veggies and my mom and I both really liked this dish. Beef chow fun unfortunately was a let down, it lacked flavor and wasnt salty or tasty enough for me. Something was missing and I couldn't figure out what. Im also not a big meat eater, so for me, this dish kind of flopped. Overall, the food was good here and we both enjoyed our meal! It was quality time spent with my mom and I'll definitely come back again!

There were a few workers there and not many patrons. I went to the register and waited. Eventually, a lady employee came up to me and I was able to get my take out order from her. The food tastes alright. I think it doesn't taste unusual. No exotic sauces or flavors. Everything seems to be cooked fine. The noodles are not overdone. The broccoli is cooked fine as well. I like that they separate the Hong Kong style noodles so they don't get soggy.

I love living across the street from this gem. My usual is Pu Pu Platter and Beef with Broccoli. The only complaint i always have is I miss having enough sauce in the beef with broccoli to smother the rice with. Friendly staff. Prices aligned with other like restaurants. Plenty of seating although I get it to go.

I dined in today, usually I just pick up their roast duck and porks togo, but everything was very yummy. I ordered the hot and sour soup, beef chow fun, and the pork chop with seasoned salt. I loved the soup - it was so delicious. The pork chop was light, crispy, and flavorful. The beef chow fun was good as well; a bit on the oily side, but still very tasty. Just a heads-up: rice isn't included with the dishes, so you'll need to order it separately. Service was quick. I went around 3 PM and the place was empty, so I was seated right away. They took our orders promptly, and the food came out within 10 minutes. The servers were very nice one of them even poured our soup into small bowls for us, which was a thoughtful touch. Great customer service overall. Portions are also huge because I had plenty of togo afterwards. I definitely recommend their roasted duck and porks and bbq pork. Those dishes never disappoint. They also take card, which is convenient, but might have a small fee to it.

Hands down the best pot stickers I have found in Phoenix! I was surprised by how filling they were. My husband and I had never had Peking Duck before, so we choose here for the new experience. The duck was moist, flavorful, and delicious. The buns they served with it were well fluffed up and added to the meal. The service was excellent and the ambiance of the restaurant is relaxing. We will definitely be back to try more of their cuisine.

We ordered one veg, one rice and two protein. Love the bbq pork slices, they were very classic Hong Kong style bbq pork, tender and juicy, but maybe someone who loves fatty meat might not like it, it's more on the lean side. Roast duck was good too, it came with two different sauces. Fried rice was great, not too salty and chicken slices in it were generous. Their service was great, very kind and welcoming people.

Best Authentic Hong Kong Chinese food! I went with my family on Saturday night around 5:30 pm and the place was starting to get packed! Restaurant is spacious and gives you the traditional Chinese restaurant feel. Service was excellent, everyone is very friendly. We ordered a lot of traditional Chinese food. Here's the food we ordered: 1. Roasted duck - delicious! Juicy and full of flavors! 2. Chinese bbbq pork and roasted pork belly - the bbq pork is soft and juicy and pork belly is cooked just right where the skin is crispy and the bottom is super juicy! 3. House special pan friend chow mein - this is one of my favorite dish growing up and it is now my daughter's favorite too! The noodles are crispy and soft with the sauce on top. The house special has seafood in there (shrimp and squid). Must try! 4. Peking pork chop - explosion of saucy flavor! 5. Black pepper beef - meat is soft and sauce is delicious! Not as spicy as some people would think due to the name being black pepper. It is well balanced! 6. Fresh tilapia - always excited when they have fresh tilapia in their fish tank! It's steamed and so good! The green onions on top goes well with the fish. 7. Red bean sauce with fish filet - another great fish to try. The sauce combined with the fish is delightful! If you're wanting traditional Chinese food and you're close by this side of town, you must stop and try it! It's always best if you can get a larger party to go so you can order lots of dishes to try since all their plates are family style plates! If you don't know what to order, you can always ask the servers there and they can help you! They are so friendly! Can't wait to come back and try more food!

There are a few really authentic Chinese restaurants in the valley and fortunately I found another one of them - this one. The dining area is spacious with an old-school Chinese restaurant look, service is very friendly, and the menu lists a wide variety of offerings. On two visits with friends, I was able to try the Chinese beef stew, fried tofu, bok choy with black mushrooms, egg foo young, bean shoots with straw mushrooms, and a fried fish dish that was a Chinese New Year special. All were very good, with authentic Cantonese flavors you would not experience with Americanized Chinese food. Prices are good, given the quality and quantity of the food. Parking is no problem since the situated in a sizeable commercial Plaza on the North West corner of Dobson and Southern.

I had a yearning for some roast duck and remembered Best had that as well as BBQ pork. We had a later lunch of roast duck lo mein and BBQ pork rice plate. There were a few dining in the restaurant. Staff were nice and service was super quick. The plates came with ample protein. Both dishes were very delicious. Both proteins were lean and tasty. The skin on the duck was crispy and flavorful. We both enjoyed our meals and even took some home for a snack. It was good to revisit this place. Large shared parking lot.

They had an amazing selection for traditional hong kong style Chinese food. Ranging from their bbq to their noodle soups! The service was amazing and was greeted immediately as we walked in. Ambiance was how I'd imagine a Chinese bbq spot. Not too fancy just enough to get the job done. Definitely a must try if you're looking for traditional Hong Kong style Chinese food.

We stopped in on a Sunday night to preview the place for for our dining club to potentially meet here in a couple of months. We were seated immediately and our server help my Father-in-Law navigate the menu. Everyone found something they were interested in and our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Service was family style, so it was easy to share with our table mates. The preview went well and we are excited about coming back in October with our larger group

Kung Pao Chicken. I had plenty of leftovers.

I was in the area and New Times had this listed as one of the top 100 restaurants in the Phoenix (Mesa) area. Small shopping center and you can tell this place has been here decades. It was empty but I also went at 3pm. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken. It was plenty of food and tasted fine. Top 100 I'm not sure but very good.

For years I have driven 25 minutes for takeout and never regretted it. High decor -No, limited selections -No, quiet -No, great food -Absolutely, incredibly friendly and pleasant staff -100%. Our typical order is a large General Chicken with extra sauce and Malaysian fun chow. The general chicken is perfectly breaded, deliciously flavored, slight bite and an uncious taste making you want more. The Malaysian fun chow has wok fried wide rice noodles with a hint of char, shrimp, bean sprouts, onions, veggies and a light but savory taste. Another home run! Don't let the exterior or inside decor persuade your judgement. Hands down the staff is second to none and the food is fabulous. Asian Cafe Express is an incredible value for the food quality and portion size. Trust me, if you give them a shot, you will also be ordering here for years. To the staff, fabulous job and thanks!

A Mesa Asian District Gem Worth Seeking Out…read more Asian Cafe Express is a lovely strip mall gem near H-Mart in Mesa's Asian District, and after 21 years in business, it clearly has a loyal following for good reason. We brought in a fresh lobster from H-Mart to try their "bring your own seafood" cooking option and chose the garlic onion stir fry preparation. It's $14.99 for anything under 2 lbs and $7.50/lbs for anything over. It came out excellent, served over crispy egg noodles with classic Asian flavors and plenty of wok-fired goodness. We also enjoyed the Peking pork ribs, which were deboned, tasty, and slightly sweet; the stir-fried green beans, which were fresh and well prepared; and the garlic spicy chicken wings, which were especially flavorful and highly recommended. The red bean drinks were traditional and satisfying, with soft, nicely soaked mung beans and no milk. Service was friendly, efficient, and personal, handled by a couple of ladies who clearly know the restaurant and their customers well. While we were there, plenty of regulars came in for takeout and several tables were happily dining in. Overall, we really enjoyed Asian Cafe Express and were surprised we had not stopped in sooner. Highly recommend, especially for the "bring your own seafood" cooking option and the garlic spicy wings. We will definitely be back.

Atmosphere 4/5 Curb appeal left a low initial impression as the business pads in the complex are a bit dated. Inside, the dining room was clean and not busy at all.
