    Petit Julep / Small Julep

A famous tourist spot- cool to check out if you're in the area! Lots of food options but I was only able to try the Julep. No indoor seating, everything is fully outdoors with an order counter right underneath the huge orange (you can't miss it).

A very iconic spot in Montreal which is a must-visit. We went there on a Saturday night and obviously it was packed. Very different vibe there. Many vegetarian options in the menu. Food was good overall. We went for a grilled cheese, vegetarian burger (both combos) and a veggie pogo. Liked all three. Fries were good. O-Juice was nice but felt a bit sugary than sour. Portions were good and it didn't feel heavy. All their meals are given in takeout brown bags - no trays, plates etc. They don't have any indoor seating options but there are standing counters. There are a couple of benches outside if the weather permits. Many folks just got the food to their cars and ate them there. Staff was nice. Given it was our first time, we had a few questions which they answered well. Plenty of parking outside. Definitely recommended.

    Poutine and orange julep

The orange juice does taste like real orange pulps, it does taste good! Will come back for this. Poutine just tastes so so though

    Poutine soaked in fake gravy

not sure what the lure is. Dirty kitchen, parking lot full of cyclists and or motorcycles. Beyond impossible to park or get service on weekends. Came from US to try poutine. Maybe it's just me personally but I find poutine to look like dog food and probably taste worse. Soaked in a fake (probably powder mixed with water) & full of salt. I honestly thought it looked like vomit. I didn't like the overly sweet creamy orange drink. Not my thing. Didn't have anything else ie hot dogs, etc. found it weird they all sell spaghetti there. Quelled my interest and will never have to go back again. Also def $$$$$ for lackluster fast food.

Orange Julep is one of those places you just don't forget. That big orange sphere right off the highway -- you see it from a mile away. You can't miss it. I honestly hadn't been in years, so this felt like a little throwback moment. First of all, the hot dogs are huge. They're grilled (not steamed), and one was more than enough for me. Add the combo and you get a big portion of fries too, so you're definitely not leaving hungry. And obviously, if you're going to Orange Julep, you know what you're going for or you have to try ! The Orange Julep drink. Cold, creamy, and exactly how you remember it. The green cups are iconic, and it's been around since 1932, which says everything it needs to. They even have merch now ! Cute little shirts and totes! perfect gift shop if you're a tourist in Montreal.

A must have - it's like an orange creamsicle

A total underrated hot dog spot. No frills - just a good take out or late night spot. What makes this place attractive to locals and tourists is that it's cheap and fast. It's sort of Montreal's version of in and out for hot dogs lol though they serve other items like chicken fingers and burgers too. Even poutine though that's not what they're known for. The definite must try and have is their orange julep drink - it's like a frosty orange juice and a tip ask for extra ice to make it colder!!!

I was originally planning to go to Decarie Hot Dog for lunch, but it was closed for the holidays. As I was taking the Metro back downtown, I remembered this place and myself having never come here, so I decided to get off the Metro to stop by here. The reviews already covered the setup well. It's not much, with a small standing area inside for dine-in, with a couple tables outside open during the summer. I had 2 steamies all dressed and a medium orange julep. The steamies were very good. The orange julep was...fine, but too sweet for my liking. I will say for the north of $20 pricing I paid here, I don't think I got my money's worth. It'll likely be one of those where now that I've gone once, I don't need to go again.

Fun facts time. My brothers & I were not allowed fast food (or soda!) growing up... real power move from my mom, turned all 3 of us into adults with next to no desire to eat junk - and as such, there's a TON of very common fast food places I've never tried. This was one of them - although I grew up around Montreal, I had never visited until my 40's, when my Boyfriend (who is forever amused by the number of local "landmarks" I haven't been to) took it upon himself to take me to Orange Julep. Super impressed by the food! I'm picky about fries, but I loved theirs - greasy & tasty - and I love that their hot dogs have toasted buns. First time having an orange julep drink as well, and I'm hooked! 5/5 for super satisfying junk food, sorry mom! Service is meh, and in summer, parking lot is literally SWARMING with wasps, attracted by spilled orange julep all over the ground, and by the trash cans. *Don't park near the trash cans*... and that's another thing, I'm not a fan of eating in my car. At all. But where else to hide from the feral wasps???

I saw plenty of online travel blogs and YouTube videos recommending to visit Orange Julep, so the day I had a car, I stopped here for a quick snack. The building itself is what stands out and the reason most people would visit, I imagine. I tried the Orange Julep, and it's very similar in taste to an Orange Julius. I also tried the Frappe which is the Julep mixed with ice cream. Both good, but having had gown up on Orange Julius, nothing unique. I also had poutine, which I found too salty. Great to take a picture of, not bad for a julep drink but nothing special about the food.

Came for the orange juice but the poutine was the star. The orange juice taste like sweet water with a hint of orange flavour. Had to dilute this. The poutine was fresh and delicious, squeaky and melt cheese curds. Order was ready within 3 minutes. Plenty of parking and seatings.

i am OBSESSED with the orange julep!!! i had this place multiple times while visiting montreal! i love that it's open late at night it's the perfect midnight snack!! i got a poutine and hot dog combo and added a michigan style hot dog to try both hot dogs!! both were good, but the classic hot dog is SO GOOD. the flavor of the relish, mustard, onions, & slaw is soo delicious! i could eat so many of those hot dogs and the orange julep is perfect i wish i could have this everyday plenty of benches and seating around the giant orange, also a large few tables in the back of the parking lot that is covered and tented and a very large parking lot!!

I was told by many friends and social media foodies that this is a local spot and should be at least visited once, and it did not disappoint!l the line was long because the register is so close to the entrance but the rest of the space is for pick up and eat standing. The atmosphere on a Friday night can be busy because of students, tourists and local car meet ups. The food did not disappoint as we got hotdog, poutine, and orange juice. A guy from NY/NJ, fresh orange juice is hard to come by.

A landmark and tourist stop that is fine for a visit but does not live up to the hype. Its best known for its julep drinks which taste like orange creamsicle -- though not everyone's taste. Expensive and staff are often rushed and therefore grumpy. While my partner loves the poutine, and my chicken sandwich was decent, this is truly a stop that does not live up to the hype.

I'd never had the French Canadian heart-attack-on-a-plate, and was a little nervous as it just looks like it has A LOT going on. I sludged into La Banquise dead sober at 4:11am, as this is a legendary spot that is open 24 hours. I sat down in a bustling no frills atmosphere and remembered my deep appreciation for a 24-hour diner. You see people for who they really are this early in the morning. A couple in front of me was in a heated argument about what "being exclusive" really meant, while two separate groups of 4 to my right were feeling no pain and enjoying a poutine night cap. There I was, sipping on my black coffee mentally prepping myself for the 45 mile (72 km) day I had in front of me. The dichotomy of life. I asked the server what the most popular item was, and he said La Scooby. This monstrosity consisted of fresh cut fries, cheese, gravy, ground beef, bacon, onions, fried pickles, and caesar dressing garlic sauce. I got the small ($12.40 usd), but this thing was a TANK. It was bigger than my head and I have a HUGE head. The large must be a family style portion or somethin. Upon first bite, it was damn good. I completely see the poutine appeal. Is it an ideal meal dead sober at 4:11am? No, absolutely not, but this is an S-tier hangover food. Also, if there is ever a day when I need some extra calories, it's on a 100k step day. All the staff was so welcoming, and surprisingly chipper this early in the morning. SHOUTOUT TO LA BANQUISE! THANK YOU FOR FUELING THE JOURNEY! IG @johnny.novo Tiktok @jnov__ Substack @johnnynovo
