I've been going to Sereni for a year now. I've tried multiple stylists over the year, because every time I go for a trim, it turned into a cut. I've told them every single time that I've been trying to grow my hair out. I even skipped a few visits so that my hair would have more time to grow out. Cut to February where we finally got the cut right. It was growing out beautifully. Exactly how I wanted it. When I showed up a week ago, I pointed out how much I loved the cut and how I had a job interview and I did not want any length taken off. I made the comment that my bangs were now in my eyes, and my hair was too thick at the nape of my neck. I don't know what the hell kind of a day the stylist was having, but she apparently chose me to take it out on. She didn't bother wetting down my hair. She just grabbed a pair of scissors and started hacking away at it dry like Edward Scissorhands. She was done in five minutes and I was butchered. Half my hair is gone. I let her know I didn't like it, but her solution was to just keep hacking at it. And then she kept taking her fingers and pushing all my hair backwards, like she was styling a mullet. The top look reasonably OK, so I told her let's just stop or else I won't have any hair left. I figured once I got home, and washed it, maybe they would be something to work with. First time having Christina as stylist. She listened well and did a great job. Color/cut/style took 2hrs. I'd recommend her as well as Kristen and Hank. Was in the middle of scheduling another appointment and the receptionist stopped working with me to help someone else who came in after me. I waited for her to finish or to tell the woman she'd help her after she finished with me. That didn't happen so I left and never heard from receptionist. This is by far my favorite salon and spa! I get my hair cut and colored by Olivia. She is an artist, to say the least. She always asks how I feel about my hair. I said to her last week it felt blah and heavy around my face. She knew exactly what to do! It feels awesome to go to a salon where the artist actually listens to what you want and need. I always get complimented on my hair cut, which has never happened. The color is rich and makes my hair feel and look super healthy from appointment to appointment. I recently started going to Lauren, the esthetician. She has a calming touch and I love getting facials from her! I swear she cares more about my skin, than I do. I leave her appointments feeling great and glowing. She tinted my lashes and brows; I am hooked! Another awesome thing is that Sereni offers products that actually work. They have everything you could ever need or want to take care of your skin and hair. I finally have a root lifter that works! The professional and calming atmosphere makes you feel like you are in the city. I brought my niece in to get a trim and layers and she hasn't stopped talking about the "fancy salon Auntie goes to!" I just went here for the first time and was very impressed. The staff was friendly and they have their covid-procedures set, so it felt safe but still welcoming. My haircut with Anna was super comfortable and turned out lovely; I was going for a whole new look and she handled it quickly and with ease. I wanted to love this salon, I really did. I read the great reviews, and being new to the area, was hoping to find my go-to salon. But this was the worst haircut I have gotten in the last couple of years. I probably have the easiest hair to cut in the world - long, stick straight, non-fussy. I went in asking for a trim and freshening up of layers. Stephanie cut my hair and gave me two totally different hair lengths and layers that do no blend in at all. (See photos) she cut the hair around my face so short that to go back and get it fixed would leave me with a shoulder length bob, a change I am not quite ready for. So now I am stuck with this for the next several months. So annoyed. The only reason I gave two stars instead of one is because the salon was clean and adorable and the front office staff was lovely and attentive. UPDATE 10/10/15: After posting this review, I received a call from the owner of the salon, Paula. She invited me to come to the salon to fix my haircut at no charge. And I loved the results! She listened to exactly what I was looking for, added her own great ideas on what to do with my hair, took her time with the cut, and managed to keep the length. I was really pleased the importance Paula placed on customer satisfaction as well as her efforts to reach out to me. I didn't think there were any businesses that operated like that anymore! After being 28 and never paying more than $15 for a haircut, I decided it was time to put on my big girl pants and get a damn haircut from a real pro! I called and spoke with the owner who quelled my fears and booked me with a stylist with lots of experience. I had to wait two weeks for the appointment but it was well worth it. Loved the experience from start to finish. There was a very courteous welcome, I was offered a drink (don't mind if I do), and met my stylist. She washed my hair (can she just come live with me!?) and whisked me away to her station where she proceeded to work wonders on my hair, blew it dry and sent me home a happy lady! They also had a coupon on their site for a discount off your first service. I will certainly be back in the future and look forward to more "adult" haircuts. read more

She told me what we were going to do at each visit in order to get me where I wanted to be. When a wedding I was in fell between two visits, she had me in for a quick 20 minute foil to get the top perfect for pictures. When I didn't think I was blonde enough, she changed up the thickness of the highlights and I walked out perfectly happy. I get my haircut every 3-4 weeks by Olga and I am always very pleased (highly recommend her). The salon itself is clean and modern. I have also used their spa services many times over the years. When I do, I usually get a facial which makes my skin glow, youthful, tight and healthy. I trust the Aveda products used by both the salon and spa which have no unnecessary/harsh chemicals unlike other brands. Plus, the products all smell fantastic. The nail polish is old and thick and they thin it out with acetone making it goopy and unsanitary. My moms manicure gooped up and it looked awful. The owner was rude - we were getting pedicures and texting on the phone and she came in our face, said she was he owner and she doesn't allow phones in he spa? What? I'm texting my VIPs and it is silent but she stood there and said she needed to 'keep her girls happy'. How about keeping the clients happy!!! read more

This is my first yelp review. The pros: My hair was looking dull and frizzy when I arrived. The shampoo and conditioner the hairstylist used improved the health greatly. The hairstylists are very knowledgeable about their products. The cons: Let's face it. The place is old-fashion. I was concerned when the entire clientele was older, but I wanted to keep an open mind. However, when I left my hair was styled like something from a 1980's glamour shot when I mentioned I wanted modern. My biggest annoyance is that I asked for a specific look. I even brought a picture of how I wanted my bangs to look like, but she disregarded it. I'm sure she thought she was utilizing her professional opinion, but I had told her that I already prefer the look. Conclusion: If you want a hair consultation or if you are older and want someone with a familiar perspective, this place is for you. Unfortunately for me, I'll have to drive thirty to forty-five minutes to go somewhere more youthful in Cambridge or Natick. I have been a customer to Sereni since 2010. I've had many variety of services, hair cares, massages, mani & pedi (they no longer provide nail services). I was happy with the services so I started taking my daughter there few years ago. Things were great until we felt like we got robbed! My daughter wanted Balayage, so we went in and had consultation. The service was quoted at $160. My daughter was all happy and got her hair done. Surprised! We were charged at $255 at the checkout counter, that's not including tips. That's like a $100 difference, 60% inflated then quoted. The girl at counter saw the note in the computer that the service was quoted at $160 too, so we went back and talked to the hair stylist. The stylist insisted the quote didn't include $40 blow dry and $55 toner. The girl at counter said the salon would normally provide the quote of the full service too.... Anyways.... We paid $255... whatever! If you go in today, this hair stylist charges $30 for a 45-minute blow dry service, or $35 includes cut. However she felt she could just add a $40 blow dry (nothing special about the blow dry, she got it done in 10 minute, while I was waiting) on top of what she quoted for the service. That's totally irrational, and nothing logical about the charges. Be aware when you go in for consultation and price quoted! Based on my beliefs and values, we will never go back based on this experience! read more

Well I am writing this review before my girlfriend actually has had the chance to go for her birthday, but I wanted to point out that the receptionist Samantha was on point whenever I needed her. She was able to help me dispite my tricky situation, of course put up with my salon incompetence and provided just excellent customer support. I got my hair cut here a few weeks ago by Amanda, and she was wonderful! I was a little skeptical at first because I'm not usually one to spend more than $35 on a haircut, but I'm new to the area and Sereni was close and had great reviews, so I decided to give it a try. It was worth it! Amanda was very friendly and gave me a great haircut, and it only ended up costing me $40 (I was expecting it to be more). Maybe it was cheaper since I was a first time customer, but even if I have to pay a little more next time, I will do so gladly knowing that I'll leave with a great haircut. I was even able to convince my boyfriend to go there and have Amanda cut his hair (he's the kind of guy who has been going to the same small-town barber shop his whole life and has never had his hair cut with a pair of scissors, only an electric razor). His hair looked great and he was really happy with it. His haircut cost $20, I believe (with a $5 discount since I recommended him, so I guess the total next time would be $25). I would definitely recommend Amanda at Sereni to anyone who is looking for a new stylist. But take note that you must bring cash for a tip because they don't allow you to add it to your credit card! read more
