I thought this was an Aveda salon and unfortunately it is not. It sells Aveda products. Big difference, they don't use any of the Aveda line on their clients. Very friendly staff! I did get my hair done but noticed it was the cheapest color they could buy. The managers did my hair she is super nice yet if I am paying good prices I want a good color line, one that I have heard of. I know this from being in the hair industry I was sad about it. The staff very friendly and they did do a good job with color and cut but I don't want to spend what I spent on cheap color if I can go somewhere else, spend the same and have better color products. read more

TOTAL RIP OFF. I was scoping out the salon for a possible hair cut, so I decided to get my eyebrows waxed.... thankfully I opted out of a hair cut, and what a rip off. I spent $20 dollars on horribly waxed eyebrows that I ended up re-shaping, tweaking, and plucking myself afterwards. Thankfully, whoever did my brows, didn't take much off, but it was not worth the $20. I only intended to give a 2 dollar tip, which I felt was generous, and the woman working in the front basically refused to give me dollar bills, and I was forced to give this "stylist" a $5 tip for THE WORST eye brow job. I am several months and eye brow waxes away from this experience with them, and yet I still felt the strong need to relay this message. I was so turned off by this experience- - I absolutely detest when people try to swindle $$ for a job that was not well done. Buyer beware. read more

I had the most wonderful partial foil and hair cut today at trUe salon today. Molly did an absolutely amazing job in taking her time and explaining to me why she was doing what she was and how I could care for my new highlights. My hair looks fabulous, is soft and silky and I booked my next appt for 6 weeks from now. I would really recommend this place over and over. I took manfriend with me and because he'd never been, his haircut was free (score!) because I had basically referred him (when I actually made him haha). There is a wireless network you can use and even some computers that customers use to surf the web when they have long hair treatments done. I called and got in right away on a Saturday for a color correction from another place. The moment I arrived they greeted me with a smile, offered beverages while I waited for about 10 minutes, not bad on a Saturday! They color came out great and they even did a small cut of shaping my hair. The only reason why I didn't give a 5 star, I had 3 different people work with me. 1 colored hair, 2 washed it and 3rd trimmed & styled. I had a wonderful experience today at True Salon with Julianna and Nicole. I woke up with a desperate need for change in color, style and a mental escape from winter doldrums. From the minute I walked in they greeted me with a smile, took my coat and offered me coffee, tea or water. I waited maybe 30 seconds for Nicole to free up, she took me to her chair for a consultation. She had great suggestions on how to spice up the color and ideas for my cut. They have a unique team environment here that works amazing. She introduced me to Julianna who handled the color process. They got me started with a fabulous hot towel on my neck, smock and I was off to the sink. I recently made an appointment to have a full foil done on my hair and it came out amazing! The stylist was very experienced and helpful. I walked out of the salon with exactly what I wanted! I was able to make the appointment quickly with the very helpful receptionist. The salon is very clean and stocked with amazing hair products as well as the most up-to-date magazines... Westborough location: While their stylists generally do a good job, their customer service is atrocious. When you make your appointment make sure to double and triple check that they put you down for the correct time, because if you arrive even ten minutes late? Best case, they will have cancelled your appointment and won't have time to take you again (even for a quick cut) until the following Tuesday. Even if there's like 1 other customer in the entire place. Worst case they will actually yell at YOU for wasting their precious time. Went last night for a scheduled appointment - and my stylist takes another customer as my color was finished - I waited 50 minutes for her to complete the cut & blow dry on the other customer for her to cut mine. I went to true for a couple of years for hair services including color and cuts. The best part about them is their open hours. Loved that I could go on a weeknight after work and usually without much notice. I also really liked how you weren't stuck with 1 stylist and it was accepted and encouraged for you to see any of the stylists. Many of the stylists were quite nice. The problem I have is with their booking policy. You can book with a specific stylist only to be changed to another stylist without asking you. Since many of the stylists were good, that would normally be fine, but not to send you to a brand new stylist and charge you the same amount. I asked many stylists there for tips on styling curly hair and it seemed like no one had a clue. Many products were heavily encouraged but they never seemed like a match for my hair type so I question how much they were trained on the various product lines sold there. It's almost worth the aggravation of going to a salon with more limited availability just to get good service. read more

True is a great salon with talented, knowledgeable and friendly staff. They operate on a team model, which means that you do not choose who will be cutting or coloring your hair which is nice to be able to try out another hairdresser without feeling guilty! You are able to request a certain stylist but there is a slight up-charge for this option (worth it though if you find someone you love). My 15 year old daughter also goes here and loves it too! I would highly recommend giving True a try the next time you are looking for a place. read more

I have been going to True Salon in Westboro for a few months now. I have had a different stylist each time. I normally get one color (once I got partial highlights) however, this time there is a distinctive dark line where the new color stops and my much lighter top layer color shows down to the ends of my hair. I went back in to have them look at it and another stylist looked at it and said I needed to have partial highlights and that would stop it but it really wasn't "that bad" which would require another hour and a half visit but they didn't have any times to accommodate my schedule. So, instead every day I do my hair and cringe as I try to style it in a way to hide the line. All I want is a single color process and the girls prior were able to blend my color nicely so it didn't look like I had dark roots that were growing out. I am shocked that she said it wasn't "that bad"... several people that saw me actually made a comment to me about why my roots were so dark and half way down my head.... If I wanted my hair to look like I did it myself, I could have spent $10 on a box and done it myself! Very disappointed! read more

Listen to the RIPPED OFF REVIEWS, TOTALLY TRUE. I just moved to area, and the salon few doors down from True recommended True for color, said they didn't do color. I got a quote of 74 dollars for my one process, you see I have grey coming in, and I wanted to cover the grey. I have hair just below shoulders. I never imagined walking out with a bill of 127 dollars. I asked her about it and she said because my grey roots were 2 inches long, not one inch she had to charge me an extra 32 dollars for more color. I have never experienced a hairdresser going in the back to make more color. I have had my hair color for ever, and never experienced anyone having to make more, total LIE to add more to the bill. So my charges were one process 42. New Client 38.00 Extra color 32.00 and eyebrow waxed 15.00, total 127. And the eyebrows were not that great but the color was nice. She layered my hair, the top layer a little too long looks a little off. read more
