I stayed at this property in June 2026. It's a comfortable hotel overall and a good option for non‑smokers, as the environment is consistently smoke‑free. The lobby atmosphere is pleasant, while the rest of the common areas are acceptable. Access to the hotel is currently affected by extensive I‑35 construction, which makes the surrounding area feel congested. My room condition was generally good, with clean furnishings and no major wear. However, several amenities were not functioning, including the in‑room phone, and the alarm/radio and some lights. The reviews for this hotel were mixed, but I tried to believe the negative ones were just rare cases. Boy, was I wrong. My first room had a smelly carpet and the AC couldn't be adjusted, so I asked to switch rooms. The second room seemed fine at first, until I noticed a bed bug crawling on my pillow. Also, there were people sitting on the floor near the entrance/exit, which didn't make me feel safe. I reserved a room for a single night stay on a Saturday night in Austin, it ran me $135 which I thought was decent considering the reviews were good and the pics looked good plus free hot breakfast. The room was smaller than I expected and a bit outdated, especially the TV is not even a smart TV so option for Netflix etc. The vending machines do not have card readers on them so cash only which sucks, and the hotel is very close to a bad neighborhood. It wasn't horrible but I definitely wouldn't book it again considering there are better options at that price point. read more

Three floors. Ample free parking. No guest laundry, no pets. Free hot and cold breakfast items are served in the largest hotel dining room that we ever saw! Long hallways. Wi-Fi speed near 14 Mbps. I am a light sleeper, so we asked for a room that faced away from the interstate and it was quiet. Good drapes, so not much light entered. Very clean room. Not much space in the bathroom. The bathroom fan took a while to clear the air. Unfortunately, guests must pull out onto a feeder road where traffic may drive at 50 mph. read more

The hotel has been nicely remodeled. But the niceties end there. This hotel has roaches in the room. The walls are paper thin and you can hear your neighbors clearly. There were some foreign substances on the chair that I hate to think what it was. There is a funny smell throughout the whole hotel. I thought I read reviews on this hotel before staying here. I must have been mistaken because there is no way that this hotel was somewhere I would have stayed had I known or read the reviews on yelp. I told the front desk clerk about the roaches and showed him pictures of them crawling on the wall and on the desk by the phone. He didn't seem surprised. And only apologized and said that he would report the bugs. Seems like they are used to this. Disgusting. I'm sure I won't get my money back I'll take it as a loss. THE WORST HOTEL!! Please don't go here. They scammed our credit card for $250 and then said we couldn't do anything about it. After an hour of calling back they said it was due to smoking in the room (I do not smoke). They then charged me another $170!! Then said they had no clue about it and they couldn't return my money in the account. The front desk staff was RUDE when I asked for help. Please don't come here this isn't the last time they'll be doing this ! ALSO, the room was infested with bed bugs so when we asked for a different room they didn't want to switch us until the next day. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We arrived early one morning booked for 3 nights. I called ahead to inquire about early check in. I was told it wasn't available until later in the day and decided we would just sleep in the car for a few hours. The employees asked if I could be there inside 30 minutes and if so she could fix it for me since rooms were available. I get there and check in and tell them I'll pay whatever early fee I needed and she tells me not to worry about it and we go up to the room and go to bed. 2 days later while trying to shop I'm called saying I needed to check out an hour ago. Apparently the "fix" was simply taking the third day of my reservation so we had to rush across town to be kicked out when we had agreed to just wait to check in but were told it was fine to check in then with no updated itinerary saying we had to now leave early. Final 2 days of trip ruined. Manager told me that it doesn't matter what their employee said they weren't honoring it and I needed to be out or face additional charges. Don't stand by employees and will ruin your vacation without so much as an apology. The woman trying to sort it out was courteous but the manager made it clear he didn't care what we were told and sent people to bang on the door to see if we were out while my fiancé was cleaning up and rushing to pack. Definitely don't stay if you worry about conflict resolution. They will take responsibility for nothing and don't care one bit about the humans on the other side. read more

I wish that I could give less than 1 star. This was the worst hotel experience that I have ever had. The room was filthy, smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and mildew (I discovered later that it was the shower curtain), and there was a huge racket above me all night. I later found out that there were 6 people in there. I contacted the front desk at approximately 12:15am and got no answer over and over. I finally reached them and they said that they would "send security up". When it was still continuing at about 2:20, I called again and got no answer. I continued to try to reach them and was unable to. I got up and dressed and went to the front desk at that point and it was deserted. I went back to my room, gave up and didn't sleep at all. When I checked out in the morning I mentioned this all to the front desk and they said that they had no record of any calls and refused to refund me for the room. STAY AWAY! read more

They Overcharged my credit card by $336 over 3 days. When I contacted them about this, they assured me that someone would get back to me in 24 hours. They did not. Thank goodness my credit card company was able to help me remove the fraudulent charges. Sadly, will never return. read more

But then she decided to threaten that we would have to refund all the hotel guests plane tickets if they missed them. Huh? You clearly don't know how these things work. When I had to switch rooms, the clerk at the front desk was checking in people, answering calls, and had to run and mop up spilled milk in the lobby. The hotel does have a musty smell like smoke & mildewed mop water. Also, the breakfast room was insane. There are signs posted that say you must eat in the room because of health codes. We spent the night at the Hilton Garden Inn near the Arboretum Sat. night but decided we wanted to stay another night. It was just us, no kids, so we just picked a place that had decent reviews on Trip Advisor. Luckily I did NOT read the reviews on Yelp for a change. We booked the room because it was cheap and it was only one night so we could probably survive it. We have stayed in 2 & 3 star places with our dogs. NBD. We parked right up by the door to check in. It was nice and cool in the lobby, like blow you over cool. The front desk clerk was nice but not overly friendly. No big deal. We checked in. Our room was on the first floor. YAY. So we walked down the LONGEST hall ever to get to our room and there were ramps that kept going up and up. It was kind of funny. We got to our room. The room smelled a little like cologne, but it didn't smell like it was covering something else up. It smelled clean. The bathroom was clean and had shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap and plenty of towels, wash cloth and hand towels. They were actually pretty nice quality for a lower end place. There was also a shower cap, floor mat, and hair dryer in the bathroom. It was kind of small but the appropriate size for that room. We got the two double beds. The beds were comfy. The pillows were a mix, so we had some that were nice and fluffy like we prefer, and a few on the flatter side. The room has an open closet area, and plenty of counter space. There are enough mirrors also. The TV worked well and had HBO. There was a desk and also a microwave and mini-fridge. Both clean. The bedding was all nice and clean as well. The AC (we cranked it down) was blowing cold air like a champ! They had an awesome breakfast buffet set up but we slept in. But there appeared to be a great assortment of cereals, pastries, bagels, even some bacon and sausage maybe. Also juice selections and coffees. We went to the pool. My only disappointment with this place. There were a few other people at the pool. The outside furniture was pretty weathered. Still not a huge deal. I was SO disappointed though. What I thought was a hot tub was now just a kiddie pool. I guess at one time it was a spa, but sadly no more. That was really the only disappointing thing about the whole stay. The place was super quiet, very clean, no bugs, nothing strange, no loud noise, even from the highway that is close by. If you don't need room service, or turn down service, or a swanky place to sleep, I recommend this place...although they have a no pet policy so don't bring your fur babies! Probably the best deal I've ever gotten on a hotel room. Between $50 and $60/night. It's pretty clean and pretty quiet and the staff was insanely helpful. Will stay here again every time I go to Austin. Would (and have) 100% reccomend to anyone vacationing in Austin. read more

Orangewood is a great place to stay on a budget if you want to be close-ish to the epicenter of Austin. The hotel was easy to get to & close to the interstate as well as lots of places to get food. The staff was incredibly friendly & helpful. Our floor was really quiet & we were never aware of the presence of our neighbors while we were in our room. The parking lot was well lit & we were able to park right next to the door nearest our room for easy load in & out. The room was clean & well decorated (& was a breath of fresh air after staying in an awful Super 8 the night before), but we did see a couple creepy bugs on the walls & ceiling which was a little off putting. All things considered, this place is great for a short & cheap stay in Austin. read more

I normally wouldn't review a 2-star hotel, but the fact that so many people rated it seemingly based on it being a 3 or 4-star, I wanted to give credit where credit is due... My friend was in town and offered to have me stay at the Orangewood as a "staycation". Who am I to deny a couple nights away combined with free cable and breakfast? That's essentially what I got, in a good sized room that was equipped with a microwave and a nice sized refrigerator. Yes, the hotel is dated. But, it is clean and again, the rooms are a good size. Main point is, you're spending only between 50-60 bucks and that includes a hot breakfast with good service. Another thing I noticed is the clientele also was decent. There wasn't a seedy vibe that other inexpensive hotels have. The location was also pretty good as you're close enough to downtown as well as halfway to Round Rock. read more

It's ok. It's not cheap, but felt kind of dated and run down. The hallways smelled of stale cigarettes, even though it was supposed to be a no smoking building. The rooms were too dark and ours was not very clean. Hairs everywhere and stains on the chair. It would be good to put white curtains on the windows. We were on the first floor and wanted some privacy, but the orange curtains made the room look like a 1970's Club... The pool area could also use an updating. We'd stay there again, only for a night, and only if we could get a better rate. Too much for what you get. read more

The guy across from me left his room for four minutes and came back with his wallet on the floor and money missing. My room was picked completely clean. Good thing I had the foresight to take all of my expensive stuff with me but good god how much of a low-life do you have to be to steal toothbrushes, toiletries, and two days worth of food out of the fridge? Seems like it has been remodeled not to long ago. The lobby is updated and clean. Check in was a breeze and the gal that check us in was nice. Reason giving it a 3 star is that the room had a weird smell to it like blend of carpet cleaner/air spray/other cleaning products. Very over whelming. The bed was clean but behind the night stands was popcorn, bottle caps, crushed pills etc. I don't think housekeeping deep cleans very often. The bathroom towels also had holes in them but where clean. The a/c worked well but rattling. Halls loud due to being tiled, but clean. Overall there where good upgrades. Housekeeping needs to do better and they need to invest in new towels. I didn't try out breakfast so no thoughts there. You get what you pay for. read more

My visit to this location unfortunately coincided with a severe/nasty turn of weather, leading to days on end without power. This property had the advantage of being one block from my (rather frigid!) apartment. Positives: Open, with room availability, electricity, hot showers, clean enough, comfy beds, the staff was friendly enough. On two days the breakfast was "go bags" of fruit and Danish, but one morning was eggs/sausage etc. Negatives: Due to the inclement weather, everybody and their brother and (literally!) the dog was there. Issues with noisy neighbors, necessitating a call to the front desk, which did resolve that. Mysterious rate hike, from $55 for the first night to $95 second night. Overall okay. read more

The room was comfortable and clean. The front desk was helpful: my boyfriend got woken up early Saturday morning with construction right under our room. We brought it up to the management - they offered to move us to a suite. Problems: 1. Smell - pervasive, damp, and moldy. 2. Styrofoam plates and cups at the breakfast: it has been proved that styrofoam is hazardous for human health and incredibly horrible for the planet and future generations. Due to COVID-19 the pool is closed and the breakfast is limited and sucked. Nothing on the website said anything about that. Even the desk guy said the pool was open bit when I looked it was locked. My daughters first room had bugs in it and they moved her to another room which was fine. Maid staff spake no english so you could not ask them any questions. This place is a dump! Don't walk away from here. Run! The entire building smells like ass. Our room smelled hard of fresh paint and the febreeze didn't mask it at all. The floor was filthy! Qtips and dirt on the floor and chairs. The parking lot stayed filled with what looks like johns and the ladies of the night they entertain. Our room was on a second floor and you could hear all the people on the third floor. The pool was yellow and dirty. The beds are old and broken down. Each leans and slopes.
