We've been having on going issues with our church main doors so I gave Orchard city lock a call. I made an appointment "they are very busy" to meet a locksmith between 10am-12 noon. I got a call from Justin around 10:30am "he said he was in the parking lot" Long story short our front door locks are very old and I was certain Justin was going to come buy to see what we had and order new complete locks. To my delight Justin took them apart then disappeared to his van and repaired both the door handle locking mechanism's. When he was done both the doors "which have been having trouble opening for the past 2 years" worked better then they ever had, as far back as I can remember. Orchard City Lock and Safe is now my go-to company for locksmith services. The whole experience was professional and pleasant. Dave in the office was very nice and asked good questions to figure out exactly what I needed. He was able to schedule it for the very next day. He sent Justin, who arrived toward the beginning of the service window after calling to say he was on his way. Our lock was no longer lining up with the strike plate. Justin adjusted the door hinges and filed the plate so the deadbolt once again locked smoothly. Then he swapped out the lock for a new one we'd purchased. Highly recommend! The deadbolt on my front door was malfunctioning. I called Orchard City Lock and Safe at 10am and spoke with a rep who said they had a tech nearby who would stop by in the afternoon when he finished his current call. My experience with Orchard City has been great from day one which was about a year before they bought my companys key system from a locksmith that was going out of business. I originally called OCLS because I couldn't get ahold of my companies locksmith and thought they had already closed their doors for good but it was due to landline issues. I don't remember who I communicated with but I think it was one of the owners. He called my locksmith and then called me back saying that they were still open and that he recommend I follow up with them because he doesn't poach customers, but if we were unhappy with our service with them he would be happy to assist us. That immediately told me everything about his organization, and I took note for the future in the case that we did decide to leave our other locksmith. Fast forward a year and I actually did need a new locksmith and as it turned out Orchard City had bought my company's system already. David and crew are THE option to go to for a safe in the Bay Area, especially a Fort Knox. Prices are fair, communication is great, timing is on schedule or early, and customer service is impeccable. Yet the most incredible thing that sets Orchard apart is that David takes immense pride in his work. David is a specialist and a master of his craft. David installs safes like he installs them in his own house. The door swing has to be balanced perfectly, no matter how many times he has to tilt the 1000 lbs box to add shims. Afterward, I tried to tell David he could skip windexing the safe and vacuuming the floor, but he insisted because he couldn't stomach leaving the job undone. Those are the little things that show he's a perfectionist. But beyond that, the install was done impeccably without a single scratch or scuff on a wall or floor. This is no mean feat when you're wheeling around a massive safe. Condo move rules, stairs, tight corners - none stand a chance. Watching David and Chris work the steel beast into place was truly an impressive sight as they called back and forth to coordinate and balance the weight (but not too loudly since they don't want your neighbors to know you're installing a safe). To think I had even contemplated a big box store option made me shudder because I would have been completely outclassed. Sure, you could buy a cheap foreign made safe from Costco and have it dropped off on your curb. You could test your friendships by getting your buddies together to try and muscle the thing into place, and hopefully not damage your house or body too much in the process. Or, you could call an expert like David who will install a premium American made product with the precision of a Swiss watchmaker. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I had a complicated front door lock situation - very thick door, well over standard. I bought the replacement hardware at Belmont Hardware and they said "we highly recommend you used Orchard City." I went in person to schedule. The lady at the feomt was so nice but explained they don't really do much/want to do much residential work, they are more a commercial shop. But she scheduled me. it took 3.5 weeks to get the appt but I wanted to wait for Orchard Cityndue to the recommendation. Justin came out today and was amazing. The hardware wasn't quite right and wasn't easy but he spent the time to figure it out. Super clever solve. Very patient and nice. The key cylinder in my front door deadbolt stopped functioning. The deadbolt was an unusual shape and a replacement lock would have required a paint touchup or possibly repainting the front door. I called and the person that I spoke with said that if we brought the cylinder in he would clean it and see if that solved the problem. They quickly performed the cleaning at a very reasonable cost and the reassembled lock works great. I am very thankful for their great service. read more

I needed to rekey several locks in my house, so I brought in the cylinders to Orchard City Lock and Key. They rekeyed everything to the same key, cleaned the cylinders and made sure they were working, and even filed down the edges of the keys to allow for more clearance when unlocking the patio door. He also gave me advice about how to get the locking mechanism working better on that door when I reinstalled the cylinder. I love it waaaay more than walking into the local Mega Home Improvement Center™ and trying to find some kid to run the damned key duplicator kiosk for me. Plus I can be assured that my duplicates actually work when I try them out. Speaking of which, it impressed me greatly when I got my car keys duplicated on my most recent trip. Out of the blue the electronic lock on our safe stopped working. I tried several different things suggested by the company I purchased from, including changing the battery, nothing worked. I finally got it open, removed the contents and left the door open. I called 2 other companies I was quoted $200 - $450 minimum to fix the safe, service call, lock replacement, other parts, etc. Dave at Orchard City Lock & Safe said I can bring the door in, he will diagnose the problem and go from there. He cleaned some parts inside the lock which fixed the problem and picked up the door up the same day. Best part...he charged m $10, saying it did not take much time. Other companies probably would not have been so honest and I would have still paid $200 for the service call alone (they did not offer for me to bring the door to them).
