Have I really not written a review yet for this place? Hard to believe. I have been here at least 20 times since my friends and I began coming here for Karaoke every other week or so for ages now. Every one of my experiences were on a Wednesday. Its a dive. It's not usually very crowded, but once in a while, you get surprised. Drinks are cheap and fairly strong. Brenda is always there on Wednesdays and I simply cant say enough good things about this lovely lady. My friends and I show up in time for karaoke and we always have our table available. We are usually the largest and most sing-songy group in the house. The food is quite good - basic bar food, but the chicken tenders always seem especially yummy and fresh. A large and comfy smoking area - some of it even covered and with a tv. There's always parking, it's convenient (of the Couve is convenient). You get a real mix of folks here - we may be the liberalist of them - but not necesarily. Sometimes super friendly, or awkward, or annoying... like evereywhere else. I love this place... It's my hang.

They brought me a dinner salad. I went to the bar to let them know it was wrong and I was told "we are out of chicken strips and she does not have time to cut and bread any more". They then charged me $9 when the salad was $8.50 on the menu. The bartender shrugged when I told him that. They did not offer to make it right. If they were out of chicken strips they needed to tell me that WHEN I ORDERED! Who wants a salad with their beer?!? Be sure to read your receipt! These guys will rip you off. UPDATE: Someone replied below stating, 'Its 50¢ difference cathy.' They completely missed the point. This was never about 50 cents; it was about the poor attitude of the staff and the lack of basic customer service. Their dismissive response perfectly illustrates the exact issue I experienced during my visit.

After ordering food and a round of drinks for the group, we sat down at one of the gaming booths, excited to dive in. When I went back to the counter to ask how to start playing, the bartender told me it was $5 per person to access the games and that guests needed to consistently order drinks to maintain access. Honestly, that seemed fair to me. However, things quickly went downhill. I offered to pay the game fee, but was told I needed to buy drinks first. I explained we had just bought drinks--he had literally served us minutes earlier. His response: "You need to have an open tab, and we won't let you play unless you order more." At that point, the experience soured. The staff felt dismissive and unwelcoming throughout the interaction. Despite already spending money, we were denied access to what we came for. We finished our drinks--which, for some reason, didn't count--and left. This was my first visit, and unfortunately, likely my last. (This place had 5-star potential when I first arrived, but the staff interaction left miserable)

She then represented the interaction as if I had been harassing her, which was not accurate, as I had arrived at Tip Top before she did. The moment we walked in we were not greeted warmly even though we were on cloud nine from just finishing our wedding ceremony. Micheal said that we could order with him or the bar so we decided we wanted to do a group shot for the milestone. All the bars I have ever been to make you take them at the bar so we went up there as a group to get the shots. There was one other patron in the lobby other than my group and the bartender stood on top of the bar and said "you rented the room not the lobby so you need to go back to your room." I asked her if we could take the shots in there and she said "obviously". At this point there had been multiple micro aggressions to my group but we had paid for two hours so we decided to stay. We bought lots of food and drinks and were enjoying ourselves. We were having so much fun in the room that we decided to extend the time for two more hours. At one point my fiancé had went to the restroom and saw the staff in the lobby drinking. This just felt so unprofessional and explained how we were being treated. About 45 minutes before our reservation ended my friend had a bit too much to drink and we found her a ride home. She had thrown up OUTSIDE on the street when Micheal came in and cut the whole group off. He had said it in the most unprofessional way, "we are cutting the whole group off due to someone losing their lunch." It felt so disrespectful and the party was very uncomfortable. After this my husband went to pay our tab so we could leave and Michael told Him he could not pay and needed to get my consent. I felt this was very disrespectful considering he was legally my husband that night. He even said "are you Hailey Owen?" "Then you can't pay." Honestly I don't care who pays my bill but they had no issue with him adding to my tab but they cared about him paying it??? Made zero sense. They said they had to cut us off due to ordering at the bar and not knowing how much we had to drink. If an establishment over serves guesses that is their responsibility. Due to the comment of my husband seeing them drinking in the lobby it makes me wonder if they could not tell those were impaired due to their own impatient. We did end up getting refunded for 45 minutes that we did not use. This just really left a sour taste in my mouth. I have seen other comments claiming they bully people and I could not agree more. It really made us feel like it was not money well spent and even though we had bought out the suite for most of the night we were not treated respectfully. This was the worst experience and I wish we would have given our money and business to a better establishment. It takes a minute to say congratulations to the newly wed couple... they could not even do that. It really made me wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that we were a heterosexual couple and if they have issues with that. ------------------------------------------------ 7/28/26 Edit to add that the GM did contact us and refunded us the entire time of karaoke. He offered to compensate two hours at his other location and apologized profusely for the experience. We might be open to trying the other location in the future. They used to blend in other genres, which kept the dance floor full and the crowd diverse. Now it's country-only, all night, no variation. There's nothing wrong with country, but stripping away the mix that made it successful feels like a lazy, tone-deaf decision driving away a lot of customers. Security, bartenders, and DJs are still great -- they're not the problem. Ownership is. I won't be back. And judging by how empty it's getting, I won't be the only one.

We took a different exit through Vancouver Mall, and that's when I spotted a sign that read, "Ice Cream - $1 a scoop." Well... now we're negotiating. One scoop turned into wandering into Round1, and I swear I felt like I accidentally walked into an arcade the size of a small airport. If you're into claw machines, congratulations you've found your homeland. I think they had enough of them to keep a thousand stuffed animals unemployed. Everywhere I looked there were lights flashing, people laughing, prizes dangling just out of reach, and enough games to make my son forget I existed for a while. Then I saw it. The bowling alley. I lit up like a kid who just found out recess got extended. I love bowling, and usually a bowling night means my wallet leaves with a limp. By the time you pay for bowling, shoes, food, drinks, and whatever else mysteriously ends up on the bill, you're wondering if you accidentally financed the lanes. Round1 was different. It's affordable, it's convenient, and it's sitting right inside the mall. That's a dangerous combination... mostly for my free time. The whole place was spotless. The staff was friendly, everything looked modern, and the lighting and giant screens gave it that fun, energetic vibe without feeling over the top. It's not the biggest bowling alley you'll ever see, but honestly, who cares? It's close, it's clean, there's great food just steps away, and after you're done bowling you can lose to your kid in a racing game before watching him dominate a claw machine you swear is rigged. I lived in Vancouver for a while years ago, and now that I'm back, I'm constantly surprised by all the new places popping up. This was one of those surprises that made me smile. I'm not even a huge arcade guy by myself, but with my son? It turned an ordinary shopping trip into one of those afternoons you remember long after the games are over. Some people rate places by comparing them to the biggest and fanciest entertainment centers. I rate them by one simple question: Did I leave happier than when I walked in? The answer here is an easy yes. Round1 isn't just an arcade. It's one of those places where a quick stop somehow turns into, "Wait... we've been here three hours?" Five stars from me. Just don't blame me when you tell your kids you're "just stopping by for a minute" and suddenly you're carrying a giant stuffed banana, holding bowling shoes, and wondering where the afternoon went.

Let's start off with the claw machines, we had a blast (for the most part). The large and medium claws we found we could win before it was time for payout. The mini claws, were just as expensive as the other claw machines, and way harder to win from. As for the arcade section, it was very lackluster. The games were pricey, some didn't work, while others were missing balls or beanbags. It was hard to accumulate enough tickets to get anything substantial from the prize area. The staff we encountered had mixed attitudes. Some were very nice and helpful with resetting the claw machines, while others seemed putout, that they hated working there, and were quite surly. Overall we enjoyed ourselves in the claw area, and would come back just to experience that.
