The sashimi and seafood were especially delicious--some of the freshest we've had. The staff provided excellent, friendly service and made us feel very welcome throughout the meal. The restaurant is also much larger inside than it appears from the outside, with plenty of space to host private parties or events for around 50-100 guests. The location is convenient, with ample parking right next to Harris Teeter, making it an easy spot for family dinners or group gatherings. I met with a few friends from a dining group one Tuesday morning as they were opening for an early lunch. We had decided to have their "All You Can Eat" menu, which must be agreed to by everyone in the party. There are two menus - one for appetizers and one for sushi. They bring the menu items out together for sushi (it's in a huge sushi boat!), but the appetizers are brought out individually. For AYCE, it's a very high quality of sushi. The portions of fish are generous, and the service is very kind and helpful. They use a table-side payment device, so don't have to worry about your card disappearing into the back - you pay on the portable machine. There are little things that some may find negative (the carpet is worn or loose in places, the decor is kinda industrial), but the restrooms are clean, the food is great, and the service is fantastic. We noticed the quality dipped during COVID, which I'm assuming was due to supply issues, but they've completely turned it around. The tuna was unbelievably fresh and they give you massive cuts compared to most all you can eat sushi places. Everything we ordered came out fresh and tasted great. The staff was super friendly and made the whole experience even better. Orchid has been my family's favorite AYCE sushi for several years (it used to be the only option for a LONG time). While a number of AYCE sushi restaurants opened up recently in the Triangle, Orchid remains in the repertoire whenever I have a sushi craving. My friends and I visited this restaurant to enjoy a meal. We love sushi and have tried various all-you-can-eat Sushi restaurants in the area. Orchid is our favorite place. It's always fresh with great service, the boat is a cool touch to the table, and there are so many options to select from. It's a pretty dimly lit spot but still worth enjoying with friends. We agreed that the sashimi is some of the best we've had in the area and our favorite thing to do is to finish off the meal with the various flavors of ice cream. Loved the clean, neat interior, quick service, and 50% off sushi rolls. Did not love that the sushi entree I ordered came with just 2 of the same 4 kinds of fish. Most places at least have eel but maybe my fault for assuming and not asking what kind of fish were included (menu did not specify). A few of my family members ordered specialty rolls, and I was surprised that each piece of the 5-piece rolls was the same size as a piece of the 8-piece rolls ; usually the rolls that come with less pieces are bigger? but that wasn't the case here which was kind of disappointing. After driving around and finding that most restaurants were closed due to the snow, I was so excited to see that Orchid was open - I had been wanting to test out this place! We were seated immediately and did the "all you can eat" dinner option. The service was SUPER QUICK and our food was amazing! Not a bad price if you are a sushi lover and come in hungry! Service was also very friendly and attentive throughout our entire time. We ordered spring rolls, edemame, salmon sashimi and salmon nigiri for the first round. Then for sushi we got the following rolls: dragon, jalapeno, seafood, tiger, and butterfly. It was all INCREDIBLE. - to wrap things up, we also got vanilla and red bean ice cream! those were awesome :) I wish I could rate this 10 stars, but could only stop at 5 lol! We came here for AYCE sushi dinner for my friend's birthday. $29 per person, a pretty big menu to order from including appetizers and dessert, and the service was very fast. You also have the option of designing rolls yourself. Although the food itself is not stellar - food quality is not the point of coming here! Came to orchid for all you can eat lunch after seeing it highlighted on Instagram. The cooked food was good. We had the shrimp tempura, shumai, seaweed salad, miso soup, and crab Rangoon, which were all very good. Our issues came when we started ordering from the Sushi menu. The nigiri had a very small portion of fish and their rice is very gummy. We also ordered some rolls, but were displeased with the quality of fish that was being used (we had to send rolls back as the fish was very tough). The ratio of the fish to the other ingredients in the rolls was disappointing and often times off putting (very large chunks of cream cheese to fish for example). I understand that it's all you can eat, but it was to a point where I felt at the price I was already paying wasn't reflective of the quality or quantity of the food and I won't will not be coming back In the future. read more

I was apprehensive of coming because the reviews made me worried. However, these reviews are coming from people who don't know how to read or are abusing the system. So allow me to tell you first off, 18% tip is added to EVERY check, no matter how many people are in the party. It says this on the rules by the table. Why? I think it's because people in NC don't tip/don't tip well (I know this first hand working at a job that allows tipping). Second, the $1 fee added to every piece of food you don't eat? That's probably tacked on if you're leaving too much food leftover. I ordered the coconut shrimp and there was a piece with a vein in it so I left it on the plate and told them. They didn't charge me. They also didn't charge us for any shrimp tails we didn't eat. It's really not that bad, you guys. Just stop wasting food. Order lightly and if you're hungry, you can always order more. The restaurant atmosphere is okay, nothing special. We sat in a booth and it was nice to not have people near us. Service is outstanding! We only pressed the light once to notify them that we were ready for more. Other times? They were quicker than us. The staff were friendly and we didn't feel any judgment from them, they were attentive and super fast. As for smiling? They wore masks so we couldn't see...but they were friendly. Food was good and plenty. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the calamari and the eel (maybe my taste buds have changed because I haven't really liked eel recently). Everything else was good. We had 3 rolls each, sashimi was really nice and fresh, udon noodles, hibachi, calamari, miso soup, gyoza, green tea icecream, red bean icecream, and 2 beers each. Excellent choice for all-you-can-eat sushi. We have been eating here for years on special occasions. It is pricy, but you do get what you pay for. We typically are seated upon arrival. The dining area is small and the waiters are attentive. Menus and drinks are provided soon after seating. The menu is reusable; mark beside the items that you would like to order. The menu has ample options to choose from including some non-sushi items and desserts. Once you finish, turn on the light and a waiter will come over and take the menu. Orders arrive in a reasonable amount of time - keep in mind that they make the sushi rolls to order. If you are really hungry, order soup or salad since it will arrive sooner. Mainly tuna and salmon And crab rolls if you order yellow tail or mackerel they give you an almost non existent piece. 2. All of the raw sushi rolls were warm! Yuck 3. But food came out at a good pace and I like how they set it up so you write down your order on laminated menus using Expo markers, they prepare your order, and then once the food is ready, they return that menu to you so you can order more. I really wanted to like this place...I mean AYCE sushi. But, no I will be paying full price for sushi elsewhere. The problem is that they are too skimpy on the roll fillings. The middle section of my rolls only had 2 of the 5 fillings that should have been present. The outer portions of the roll did have all 5 filling ingredients but they were cut so thin that I felt like I had a plain rice roll. I think that is the idea here...fill you up on rice and try to make you feel like you had something. If the sushi were made a bit more in line with other restaurants, they would be getting $30 out of me regularly, but no. The price is very expensive for some overcooked food. The spicy shrimp had buffalo sauce on it; the coconut shrimp has a different sauce on it but it was the same shrimp. Located in a strip plaza with easy access to parking. We went at regular dinner hour in the middle of the week. They were probably at 50% capacity when we arrived but immediately was greeted, given a booth and some instruction on how the "all you can eat" process works. The sushi menu was pretty big as for selection and the kitchen menu or non-sushi selections was also very good. My family ordered variation of sashimi and sushi while I ordered hibachi and stirfry selections from the kitchen menu. All food came out promptly at the appropriate temperatures. This style of all you can eat being delivered to the table fresh was a treat as the hot dishes were steaming hot. I see some reviews complain about the price, however this is not your typical Chinese or Golden Corral type buffet. Dinner tonight was Awesome, Fabulous, fantastic and Filling. We started with the salad as usual. The Ginger Dressing was very bold and the vegetables crisp and flavorful. We then sampled their Crab Wontons and Beef Teriyaki. Both well prepared. The meat was tender and not overdone. And the wonton was filled with a heavy crab mixture. Opening the main course with a few cuts of Sashimi. Salmon, Tuna and Shrimp of course. Each piece was sliced thick and did not tear when picking them up. Perfect pieces to clear our pallets between the upcoming rolls. The NC and the Rainbow arrived together. Kind of ironic considering the weather today. I felt the NC was a bit different than most. Almost like a casserole. Each ingredient melded together so well that you couldn't pinpoint any one flavor. It was fried which gave it some crunch but was a bit overcooked for me. Yet it captured its name perfectly. It definitely has a Deep South feel. The rainbow was much softer in flavor. An interesting switch. Very light with bright tones between the fish and the cream cheese. Definitely could tell between the ingredients yet they complemented each other well. Much like this mix of rolls. A rainbow and NC roll was an interesting mix. After refreshing our sashimi palette, we added a Fried Tofu Skin to the mix. It was a surprise honestly. It has an egg like consistency. Like an omelet without the filling. But more surprising was the temperature. It's served cold even though it's fried. Maybe not the most flavorful but a perfect palate cleanser. The Noodles were for the baby. She ate soo many noodles! So that's a win in my book anyday! Third course was a round of spring rolls, Edamame and Red Snapper Teriyaki. Another comparable grouping. The Snapper was like having an entire fried fish platter in your mouth. Very flavorful and crispy. It is hot from the fryer, so be careful. The spring rolls and edamame were a good match. Like having a salad with your fish. Fresh and warm, it was a nice touch. The Butterfly and the Eel came next. One light and airy and the other a strong twang of BBQ sauce. Both a simpler compliment to one another. (Sorry! I'm starting to run out of time) In the end, we had what I call the Jungle Book. A Peanut Avocado roll gave a fresh jungle taste. The Rhino that had a tougher exterior than the others without being cooked. The Tiger had a smooth taste that gave you images of petting tigers. Fierce yet soft, dangerous but cute. Then the King Kong! Another Fried concoction that demanded two bites. It was big. It also had a surprisingly pork essence even though it was entirely fish. We topped it all off with Green Tea Ice-cream and called it a night. The service was fair. Attentive and quick. We never went without a drink and the whole night felt very private.
