They're the only place in the area that serves homemade coconut ice cream, and it's absolutely worth trying. Their mango sticky rice is also a must-have! The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and always amazing. The service is excellent, and while the restaurant is small, it's warm, welcoming, and inviting. Had been raving to my boyfriend about how good this spot is -- I used to come here for lunch during my nursing clinical rotations in the area, and they have an amazing lunch special! This time, though, we ordered outside of the lunch special, and everything we got was so good. The service was extremely friendly, the music created a great vibe, and the food came out quickly and hot. This was my go-to Thai spot back when I lived in Azusa, and I'm happy to say it hasn't changed at all. The food is just as good as I remembered, and the service was friendly (same person I remember from about 5 years ago, which was honestly nice to see.) It's a small shop with only about 4-5 tables, and there were tons of to-go and pickup orders while I was there, but I decided to dine in. What I ordered: Khao Soi - I saw this being advertised and had never tried it before, so I went for it. Super unique dish with a strong, creamy coconut flavor that wasn't overpowering at all. The noodles were great, and overall it was really comforting and delicious. Would 100% order again. (5/5) Pad See Ew (Shrimp) - A classic done well. Solid flavors, nothing too heavy, and very tasty overall. The shrimp were plump and fresh, which I appreciated. (4.5/5) I also asked about mango sticky rice, and they were honest and told me the mangos weren't fully ripe yet. I really appreciated that honesty. Instead, they gave me their complimentary cookies and cream ice cream, which ended up being really good too. There isn't much good Asian food in Azusa, so if you're living nearby, I'd definitely recommend this spot, it's one of the few reliable gems in the area. Come here for the awesome lunch specials! My wife and I had come here to Satu for the first time and I wholeheartedly enjoyed it. The location is on the side of the business complex. And you will see thier sign driving up Azusa Ave. Parking is tight, but street parking is available. The location is very small with few tables inside and No public restroom. Don't let that discourage you from coming by because this was some really great Thai food. The customer service felt genuine and felt as if we were at home dining with family. The menu is very big with options and they are about to celebrate 10 years of business! They offer all of the traditional Thai dishes and now serve up Khao Soi. We opted for the lunch specials which is from 11:30am-2:30pm. I ordered the Pad See Ew and my wife the Green Curry. The food was ready in 5-10 minutes. You get a side salad and egg roll. We also received complimentary ice cream. Their Pad See Ew was tops! The flavors were all there and the presentation of it on a plate had the vibrant pop you want in a good Pad See Ew. Portions were great for a budget friendly lunch special. We felt very well taken care of the whole time. Great staff + great food = great experience! Our usual post RenFaire Thai restaurant was closed so we searched for another close by. After a bit of a closed restaurant goose chase, we came upon Satu and were delighted to find them. Very tiny but immaculately clean, Satu's wide menu and reasonable prices was a fantastic find in the middle of a city we don't usually frequent. Very friendly staff who came by several times just to refill the ubiquitous water pitchers and ask if we needed anything. We ordered the Khao Soi which was prominently featured on the second page of the menu. It was deliciously coconut milk creamy with both boiled and crunchy noodles. Also ordered the pad kee mao drunken noodles and the spicy eggplant dish, redolent with wok hei. All the dishes were delicious. I asked for mild spice and was glad to have done so because the spice level was pushing it for my dining companions. They said it felt more like medium though nobody was too spiced out but caveat emptor. We were surprised with three complimentary scoops of old school tricolored spumoni ice cream at the end. Very welcoming customer service to a Quaint atmosphere, you can dine in, but a bit small. so we order to go: pa Nang curry, Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles (I found a little dry). My son and I were out for dinner and yelp guided us here. The restaurant is small but, clean and nicely decorated. We came in around 8pm and I didn't have huge expectations since it was close to closing time. Our server was friendly and took our order immediately. We ordered a few items to try, as we always do. To start we ordered the garlic chicken wings and chicken satay. The glaze on the wings had phenomenal flavor and was super crispy. The satay chicken was perfectly cooked and paired well with the peanut sauce. I ordered yellow curry with chicken which was delicious. My son ordered the won ton soup and Satu fried rice which was also delicious. We were completely satisfied and will definitely come back. It was my first time here tonight because I was craving some Thai food and found them. They are absolutely phenomenal. The food is some of the best Thai food I've had. They were quick and extremely kind. They accidentally forgot my side of sticky rice (would've been a bummer but not a big deal) and called quickly and since I was already almost home they delivered it instead. It's located in a mini shopping mall that is on the corner of Azuza and Sierra Madre. It was tight to park at 11:30 because of the many businesses that are crammed in that little corner: a liquor store, a pet groomer, a bakery, a Mexican restaurant and a teriyaki stand. Satu Thai Bistro has fresh potted herbs outside that they must use for their dishes and it looks like outside seating for when the weather warms up. The inside of the Bistro is charming with a few tables. Service is quick and efficient. The lunch specials are priced under $12. Brown rice is no extra charge and they also offer quinoa for an additional fee. The yellow and green curries are generously portioned. I placed a to go order online and food was already ready when I arrived. The restaurant is very small, I took a glance and saw about only a handful of tables so I'm glad I did takeout. My husband who is not a huge fan of Thai food even enjoyed it. My favorites were the shrimp fried rice and green curry. I am a huge baby when it comes to spice. However, I do appreciate a small kick so I did mild spice for both the green curry and pad see ew. The pad see ew was way too spicy for me. It tasted good but as soon as the spice kicked in, I could not taste my food anymore. I will skip out on the spice for that next time. I also ordered Thai tea with boba and it was perfect! No outside drinks or food allowed! Satu Thai Bistro is located in Azusa and it shares a small parking space with other businesses. Therefore it's hard to find a parking space during lunch time and I'm assuming dinner time as well. The dining area is small and it's got about 6 tables (mostly for parties of 2). The first waitress had a BRF and was not friendly at all. However, halfway through another waitress took over and she was friendly and very pleasant! If it wasn't for her I don't think I would've had a good reason to come back. We ordered their calamari as an appetizer and it was just okay. Our table ordered from their lunch special menu ($10: you get side salad, veggie egg roll, white or brown rice with certain dishes). It's extra if you want to get organic quinoa $1.75. Choice of chicken or tofu comes with the dishes and if you want beef (+$1), shrimp (+$2), and if you want a fried egg it will be (+$1.50). Shrimp mixed vegetables was just another okay dish. Black pepper garlic with shrimp, pad Thai with shrimp and pad see ew with tofu. All of the dishes were nothing special. Feel like they were not that generous with the protein. I didn't like the egg roll as it's soggy on the inside. I would come here as a convenience and if I feel like having Thai food. read more

Parking: The parking lot is on the smaller side. It can be a little hard to get in and out. BBQ Chicken - this dish was under the chef's recommendations. The chicken had a nice crisp smoked flavor on the outside. While the inside was juicy and tender. The sauce was tangy, sweet and salty. Hit every note of umami when eaten together. Loved every bite. Give this one a try if you are in the mood for some chicken. It won't let you down! Pad Thai - the sauce for the noodles were a tad bit too sweet for my taste. Other than that it had immense flavor and was very filling. Overall: It was a great place to eat. I think next time I will do take out because a lot of people were doing that when I came. Been here several times now. My daughter loves the wonton soup. I usually get the drunken noodles and my hubby switches up the curry and eggplant dish. The food has been consistent. I've only eaten in once because this place is so tiny...maybe a few tables as others have mentioned. So it's usually take out for us. Also, the parking lot is tricky...very few spaces to accommodate several businesses. And then that tiny parking lot is flanked by one way streets, so be careful you're going in the right direction when you exit! I didn't take any stars off for that as that clearly wouldn't be fair. Their food has been incredible from the beginning and this has always been my favorite Thai restaurant. I moved away from the area so I've tried so many places in LA and others closer to me, and they just never come close to this restaurant. Not the best first impression with the food quality. Picked up the crying tiger after passing by this spot for a few years. Found the steak over cooked and the "steamed" veggies undercooked. I was the only one in the restaurant at the time with a small group of people outside. The person who helped me was kind and answered any questions I had about the meal. Overall the flavor was there. I am glad that I tried this place, it's a small Thai restaurant in Azusa but it's a Gem. It's a cozy and simple place but the have one of the best Larb Salad I had. The server was nice and friendly, it's a warm day but their AC was good :) I noticed that there were a lot of order for to go during lunch. Check out the menu . Every thing looks fantastic as they serve it. We ordered Thais fried rice, it was perfectly spiced and good amount of meat and vegetables. Lard Salad was very good, I just hope that they gave more of the lettuce leaf, but you can request for more I heard. The boba on my Thai ice tea was so yummy. This restaurant is very small and has a limited seating area. Luckily when the three of us arrived there was a table available during dinner time. I ordered my favorite Chicken Pad Thai, Satu special fried rice, and Tom kha kai soup. The waitress asked how spicy do you want the soup I requested it to be medium.
