We love Tantawan! Updated my review to 5 stars based on the drunken noodles and yellow curry. These two are a must every time we come. We order both of the following medium heat, the drunken noodles are perfectly spiced with great flavor, and the yellow curry is rich, comforting and consistently delicious. The service has gotten better also. This is one of Sunday evening dinner spots and we look forward to our visits.

I'd heard great things about this place and was glad to finally give it a try. The food was absolutely amazing while dining in. I ordered the crab fried rice, green curry with pork, and beef pad thai. Everything was delicious! The only downside was that a few hours later, I became extremely thirsty and noticed my hands felt swollen. I would still recommend this spot if you're craving Thai food, and I'd probably try it again to see if I have the same reaction. It may have just been a coincidence.

Never expected a Thai restaurant to be located in this plaza, as most of the establishments are Filipino - so lucky to live in the SGV. A friend and I were debating where to meet up for lunch and we decided to try Tantawan Thai Kitchen and they certainly did not disappoint. 54. TOM YUM NOODLE $14.95 招牌酸辣细粉 / Hủ Tiếu Chua Cay (Tom Yum) Choice of noodles with shrimp, pork meat balls, ground pork, fish balls, and peanut in a clear spicy and sour broth 73. SALTED FISH WITH CHINESE BROCCOLI FRIED RICE $14.95 咸鱼西兰花炒饭 / Cơm Chiên Cá Mặn Cải Làng Eggs, Salted fish, fresh chili, Chinese broccoli, and red onion 76. SHRIMP BUTTER FRIED RICE $15.95 蝦醬炒飯 / Cơm Chiên Tôm Hoặc Gạch Tôm Cay Tasty fried rice cooked with soy bean shrimp paste, eggs, chili, and onions I normally would order noodles, but I decided to try the Shrimp Butter Fried Rice as I had not had that in so long. My friend ordered the Tom Yum Noodle (medium spicy) which was a bit too spicy for me but it was so delicious! The flavors of all the dishes were great and the prices were very reasonable. The servers were very attentive and always stopped by to ensure that our water cups were full. I ordered a Salted Fish with Chinese Broccoli Fried Rice to go. Compared to other Thai restaurants that we frequent, this one felt more homestyle comfort food than "commercialized." They offer Monday-Friday lunch specials from 11 am to 3 pm (except Holidays) for $12.95. After posting a picture of my meal, a Thai friend said that this is a legit Thai place. Winning! The service was great, along with the portions and very reasonable prices. There was plenty of parking in this plaza on a Saturday afternoon for lunch.

Craving for some Thai food, we checked out Yelp and found this hidden gem! Tucked away on the quieter side of the Seafood City market area, this unsuspecting restaurant is a must try! As I write this review, we've come back 2 more times from our initial visit here. The menu for dine-in guests offer more comprehensive selection and pictures of the dishes that they offer. I forgot to take some photos of that so I posted their to-go menu instead. We tried both their pork jerky and beef jerky for our starter. The beef jerky is good, lean, but not hard. The pork jerky is slightly more chewy and definitely has more fat but a bit more flavorful. I love dipping the jerky into the sauce that they included. It's sour, a tad spicy and a hint of sweet and salty. It definitely packs the punch! The fried rice is nice and not dry, something that I sometimes worry about if they overcook it. There are about 5 pieces of good size shrimps included here. Drunken noodle is on point! We chose chicken and mild spicy level as we have kids that don't eat spicy food. They all loved it too. I added the Thai chili & fish sauce on top of mine as I like it more in the medium spicy level. We both dined-in and took to-go orders on the total of 3 times that we've been here. The service is good. They checked on us if we need our water refilled when we dined in. I'm glad to find this restaurant in the area and will visit more often in the future!

Went here with my favorite food critic, The Wife, at her request. We went on a Wednesday at noon and the place was empty. I mean just us except for a walk in food to-go pick up order. Huge clue. We ordered Tom Kha soup and requested it spicy. The waitress had doubts and asked us to get less space and add our own with the condiment clover. This changes the flavor. We really do like spicy. I also ordered some fried rice with crispy pork. The soup had good mushrooms for a surprise and the rice seemed like it had a crab rice flavor which would have been a better choice. The worst part of our visit was the disappointment that the menu did not include the lunch specials at a reduced price, which we only discovered when we asked for a to-go menu which had the specials printed on it. Not cool as this should have been offered to us at noon. We probably won't ever return but we did find several interesting spots in the same strip mall that we may try.

This place is great. I think the flavor is tailored to the Filipino palate. The Pad Thai is very sour, if you like that. My friend is Filipino and said it was the best pad thai she's ever had. I had the Rad Na, it was basically soup and they don't skimp on the meat! I thought it was good. If you're already at Seafood City/Island Pacific, you might as well make the trek here, it'll probably be the best Thai food you've ever had! To be honest, personally, I wasn't in love with the food (and I'm not Filipino). However, I went here twice and everyone around me was gobbling it up. It's probably a "me" problem. Very nice staff, charming decorations (50's diner style), and a very big parking lot.

    Warning!! It's good but it's $18.95, crazy!!
    Sandy H.

The food is good, but everything is getting so expensive. Even the tip options start at 18%, 20%, and 25% now, it's getting wild.

Thank you again to the Tantawan family for such amazing food and service. We loved the smokiness of the Beef Satay, the perfect flavor balance of the Papaya Salad, and the springy and crispy texture of the Shrimp Cakes! We always look forward to eating here when visiting from Florida.

There are many hyped up Thai restaurants in Orange County, but West Covina has many delicious Thai places, with Tantawan being one of them. Not only do they have the best green & Thai tea, but their food is even better. We tried their Tom Yum Soup and Red Curry, which was extremely flavorful. Their Pork Jerky is also very tasty and filling. On top of that, they have very welcoming staff and great customer service. We always leave happy and full after coming here.

o2.o8.2o25 We were craving for some Thai food and found this restaurant on the way home. We got the fried shrimp, crab meat fried rice, pad see ew, crispy pork with Chinese broccoli, clams, and a dessert. The food were pretty good. The clam and broccoli dish were kind of salty. The shrimp was super crispy and fresh. That was our favorite. The dessert was my least favorite. It had a very strong floral flavor. It was quite interesting but not my taste. The staffs are wonderful.

This place has gone downhill. I ordered Pad Thai and mango sticky rice togo. The mangoes were dark (will not be eating this) and the pad Thai came with 4 pieces shrimp. This is ridiculous given that this restaurant is on the pricier side. $33 total for both dishes. Service is nice but I didn't pay all of this just to look at bad mangoes. This dinner was a waste of money. I want a refund

It came with whole dried shrimps, no palm sugar taste. Dried shrimps are supposed to be smashed with garlic and chili to enhance the flavor but this papaya salad tastes just bland. Spicy shrimp rice is the most disappointed of all. Chef seems to forget to put salt, shrimp paste and anything to make it spicy. The mild and blend papaya salad has more flavor than this spicy shrimp rice. How could that be??? Where is the shrimp paste taste? Can you at least fake it with fish sauce? The only thing authentic in this dish is probably the Thai jasmine rice. Crispy pork with Chinese broccoli is the best of the three but I've had better. In comparison though this has load of sodium.

I'm not an expert at Thai food, nonetheless I'm going to venture the food here is more authentic than other places I've dined at. For example, sometimes I've had pad thai that was too sweet, that's not the issue here. I really want to see this place continue to be successful. It's a comfortable place perfect for lunch and serves the students and staff at the nearby schools (Azusa Pacific and Citrus College) quite well with their food, service, and prices.

Went close to 6:00 pm and there were plenty of parking spots available in a shared plaza. It wasn't busy at the time so I was able to get my order quickly. Everything was ready and packed when I got there! I appreciate that they put the peanuts in a separate container. For the order, I got the Pad Thai and the combo platter. The pad thai was on the sweeter side. I got my order with pork as the protein choice. I felt if a lime was provided, it would help balance out the flavors of the noodles. The peanut was kept in a separate container, which I appreciated. The platter consists of a variety of items from dumplings, egg rolls, cream cheese wonton, wonton, and shrimp tempura. The container had holes to allow for the steam to escape, so most of the items were still crispy. Nothing from the platter particularly stands out in taste, besides possibly cream cheese wonton. Overall, it felt like an okay option if you're in the area.
