It was kind of hard to find this place, even when looking online ahead of time, but it's really cool! It's on the side of other buildings like they all share on structure and divided it up, but the interior is much bigger than expected. It kind of felt like a long hallway, but that may be due to how it was pretty empty upon arrival though it got pretty busy once night fell. From what I understand, the menu changes every few months or so. What you see in reviews may not be on the menu when you visit, but don't let that deter you! The food will still be good. They have a good grasp on flavors all around the world, and it's a fancier take on what would otherwise be considered comfort food. At least, that's how I felt ordering the oxtail lasanga. Like, WOW. Beautifully delicious. The tomatoes on the side packed such a punch. Tiny flavor bombs for sure. I really jumped straight to the best thing of the night in my review, but it honestly was everything I wanted once I saw it on the menu. Going back to the beginning though... the apps? Tasty. The salmon empanadas were a little dry, but seasoned well. I believe the (collard green) hushpuppies are a mainstay item, and it's truly for a good reason. Such a classic bite, and it's easily shareable too. For the jerk duck wings, I preferred the mango salad underneath it. The flavor overall wasn't bad, but duck has such a distinct taste that it overpowered the jerk seasoning. The wings weren't spicy either, though the mango had a little bit of a kick. I was a little too focused on my lasagna, but I did try a little of the grilled Moroccan lamb loin (tender) and the suya shrimp jollof pasta (bland, sauce too thin to coat the pasta, but shrimps were so yummy). The place is tucked behind where GPS takes you and there is no real parking. The inside is cozy and swank. Gives a 90's vibe. The servers were charming and charismatic. They also suggested all delicious options for us. The chef sent over Thai lettuce wraps and they were divine! The food is a blend of Soul Food and other countries. I absolutely adored and loved that! Started with the collard green hush puppies, jerk duck wings and salmon empanadas. All were beyond amazing! Get the duck wings if you can only have one! I had the Thai catfish and coconut grits for my entree and it did not disappoint. This is the first time in my life that I ate a whole fish. I have never completely eaten one. It was crispy and seasoned well. Did not give off that catfish taste. The grits were surprisingly delightful. Never thought about coconut in grits. My other friend had the oxtail lasagna and she devoured it! The third friend is a picky eater and got the chicken with rice/beans. She loved it. My other friend had the Trini fish and her only complaint was that it wasn't hot enough. She's a native Trini, so she wanted more spice. For dessert we got the croissant bread pudding!! DELICIOUS! Came in for their whiskey Wednesday. the whiskey of the week was the Basil Hayden and they gave free samples with your meal which was pretty cool. From the street the restaurant is well lit and open. It has a small cozy feel and I could see it being a place where everyone knows your name. I had the spicy Tahitian cauliflower and the grilled Greek lamb chops. Both were tasty but I would have like it to be seasoned a little more. But both were great. For drink I had the when harry met Helen, which had a nice smoky taste. I sat at the bar and had a good chat with the bartender who was very knowledgeable of the menu and of bourbon. Parking... I think there is a small parking lot somewhere, but I lucked up on street parking right in front of the restaurant! All in all a good night and it's in my neighborhood so I will be back! Oreatha's was soo good I was bragging to everyone the next day. I visited after work and the restaurant was not busy. The eccentric take on soul food was what made the experience exceptional. Clean space the space is small but cozy, great servers. Clean bathrooms- very appealing decor. From the sea bass to the lamb the food was delicious!! The prices were decent. Came Sunday after church for a Sunday brunch. Were quickly able to set a reservation maybe 15 minutes prior to coming in for 6 and were sat fairly quickly. Had the fried green tomatoes, cauliflower and hush puppies for a starter. The hush puppies were surprisingly amazing and came with a bacon jam! The cauliflower was also very good! This place is a nice surprise! The surrounding neighborhood is super casual and Oreatha's provides a nice elevated option while still embracing the West End. I'm giving it a 5 because the flavors of the food were so well curated. So this is based on taste alone. The salmon empanadas and side salad I had were so good. Those were the highlight - it was a great choice to pair and fried and fresh option. I also split poutine fries with my friend. These were good & worth ordering but more like a 3.8/5. We had a great experience from the moment we sat down. Our server and bartender, J, took excellent care of us. We asked for mocktails, and he delivered a delicious, well-balanced drink that didn't feel like an afterthought. To start, we tried the collard green hush puppies and the smoked salmon empanadas. Both were just okay. The hush puppies were nicely fried, but with "collard greens" in the name, I expected to taste more of them. The salmon empanadas had good flavor, but the texture of the filling wasn't quite what I expected. For the main course, my husband ordered the sea bass, and it looked amazing. Judging by the fact that he didn't offer to share, I'd say it was a hit. Lol. I went with the oxtail lasagna. I was intrigued when I saw it on the menu but hesitated once I noticed it had goat cheese. That can be a little strong for me sometimes, but I'm so glad I gave it a try. Excellent service! I made my reservation for 2 at 5 pm. on a Thursday. Blu, the host, is amazing! He was very knowledgeable about the menu. I told him that I wanted to eat light so he suggested several dishes. I ended up ordering the fried green tomato caprese. It was delicious. I will order this every time I go. Next I ordered the oxtail lasagna. Keep in mind, that it was my first time eating oxtails. It was ok. However, my friend, Portia ordered the Grandma Lue's Burger. OMG! That burger was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend this. I ordered one to take home to hubby. He loved it. He is very particular about his food. I had a lychee martini. It's not on the menu. It was ok. The key lime pie was recommended for dessert , however, it was not available. So I had the chocolate banana croissant breading pudding with icecream. It was amazing. We celebrated my dad's birthday here as a family (7 adults and 2 kids) and I'm so grateful we did. We started with 3 yummy appetizers, the GA Apple and feta salad, the smoked salmon empanadas and the Fried Green Tomato Caprese Salad, I highly recommend all three. For my entree I had the Tod Mun Pla Thai Seasoned Catfishand and it tasted like my grandma was in that kitchen frying that fish. It sits on a bed of creamy grits and my only wish is that there were more! Oh my goodness, they were rich, buttery, creamy and a perfect pair with the savory fired catfish. I couldn't recommend this dish enough. It is a whole catfish so be mindful of the bones. I paired my meal with a flowers for Winnie cocktail which I really enjoyed. It's a bit on the tart side but the floral notes from the gin help with balancing the drink out. Now onto service, Hope was our waitress and she was phenomenal. She had such a pleasant high energy attitude and handled our somewhat large party with ease and attention to detail. She even brought out Chef Lucky who was also very pleasant and spent time with us describing his favorite dishes on the menu. It's a fairly small restaurant so a great place to share a meal with 2-4 friends. We went on "throwback Thursday night" so the dj had very nice r&b tunes softly playing in the background. This is a Global Comfort food restaurant. From the moment you walk through the door you're immediately greeted and made to feel welcomed. It's almost as if you're walking into someone's home. It's very cozy and beautifully decorated. I like that their menu has the country that inspired the dish. The amuse bouche was what I would describe as a black eyed pea hummus, which was absolutely delicious and very creamy. Perfect start to the meal. I had the collard green wontons ($16) which was an item they served around Valentine's Day and was a customer favorite. It was packed full of flavor and I appreciated the cream cheese didn't over power the vegetable. The collard greens were vegetarian style, which I especially enjoyed as a pescaterian. It's very rare that I can enjoy greens at a restaurant. I also had the nordic grilled salmon sandwich with fries ($19). I cleaned my plate! I was amazed by how delicious a sandwich could taste. The buttered toasted bread was a nice treat. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the potato fries were like the ones my parents made when I was a child. Due to the size of the restaurant I recommend reservations which can be made through their website. They also add 20% gratuity to the check but you're welcome to add on more. Excellent service!! This place was absolutely amazing! We didn't have reservations so we sat at the bar. From the hostess to the bartender and even the waitress not assigned to us, the staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They are the epitome of team workers, helping each other out to make sure the service is exceptional! There's an automatic 20% tip on checks so I was expecting subpar service and was pleasantly surprised to see them enjoy their jobs and customers. Everything we tried was delicious and they had different international dishes, making it easy to find something that suites your palate. I recommend the boudin balls, French toast, and salmon sandwich. It was so good I over ate and their portions are huge. Even the small plates are meant for sharing. Food wise, each item we had, we also had the pleasure of the executive chef explaining the ingredients and inspiration of each dish. It was a beautiful tasting experience. We came here for the Easter brunch, and it was a warm, inviting experience. It was almost hard to find given its location on the side of the corner, but it has ample seating albeit a narrow building. I loved the decor, you can tell the designers/owners really wanted to put a lot of effort into it. A woman who I presume to be an owner or manager was very friendly, suggested sauce and taste pairings, and frequently checked on us. I would want to come back, as the Easter menu was a bit limited for what I would have liked based on the reviews I had previously read. For $45/pp and automatic gratuity, I would have expected a bit more to the buffet menu--there wasn't even macaroni and cheese. Went here based on recommendation from my cousin. Small space located in Cascade area. Very limited parking. There's a Wells Fargo plaza across the street that I used for parking. Not sure if that's part of an official parking lot for the business or not. This spot offered good energy and a cute quaint setup. I ordered oxtail lasagna and was not impressed at all. It was more of like a Deconstructed lasagna and it was very salty. When I mentioned its saltiness, the server did take it back and have it corrected. That was a plus. I saw them bring out some fries that looked fresh and home cut so I tried those. Listen. They did not disappoint. Try them! Last but not least.... The sangria! OMG!!! My mom and I came here on a Wednesday evening after doing some shopping. We arrived and they asked me if we had a reservation. I told them no. The host proceeded with a little bit of an attitude to say we should've had a reservation. I didn't see anywhere on the front door, website, or social media page where a reservation was required. They ended up seating us next to the kitchen. This restaurant is very small to begin with. The in and out traffic from the kitchen was not pleasurable. We started off with the pepper steak eggrolls and the salmon empanadas. The eggrolls were ok and the salmon eggrolls were dry. I asked the chef for some sort of dipping sauce to assist in eating the eggrolls and his response was the slaw on top is there to assist. That slaw was extremely bitter. For our entree's we got the Oxtail lasagna and sweet and sour spare ribs. My mom was not a fan of her ribs. They were not tender and when she took her leftovers home she had to add some bbq sauce to them and recook them to make them desirable. My lasagna was subpar. I didn't understand the big tomato that was on my plate. Our bill came out to over $100. We didn't order any cocktails or desert.
