    caprese sandwich

The Manz and I went to Gather for lunch this week. He suggested it, and I happily went along. The restaurant area is to the left when you enter with about five 2-seater tables and two 4-seater tables. We ordered at the counter and got comfortable. I was able to peruse a bit of the market while looking for a lunchtime libation and saw that a variety of what I consider specialty goods are available. I selected a my drink and paid for it at the front where I also picked up a Rooster cookie! I gave Gather an extra star for carrying this treat. I ordered the caprese sandwich which came with a bag of chips. The Manz ordered the fried grouper sandwich w/ fries. The caprese sandwich was messy and very tasty. I love this combination of flavors, and Gather did a good job. The Manz enjoyed his sandwich and fries and said that the serving was filling (he is a tall, big guy so this is a big compliment from him.) We were lucky to find parking in the front off of Moreland but there is a bigger lot behind the buildings. A lot of the front spaces are limited at 20 min which make for an easy pick up option. This place has become my weekly and pseudo daily visit go to spot in Grant Park! Great vibes, amazing food and pretty good customer service. I really enjoyed the Claire and the Hamlet sandwiches.

I love having breakfast at this local, community-based restaurant. The food is always good and consistent. The staff is attentive, yet they give you space to enjoy your time, and he vibe is laid-back, which makes dining there enjoyable!

Participated in First Taste Friday with Yelp by trying Gather. It worked out as I had a coupon for a buy one get one entree. I ordered the Impossible burger with fries and the chicken empanadas. The burger was good. The bun was nice and the onion, roasted red peppers and avocado were excellent. The burger patty itself was different. I've had plenty of impossible burgers but this was different...perhaps it wasn't grilled so it wasn't crispy. It was good but just different. The fries were good...fresh cut type fries. I paid for the garlic aioli and the chipotle Mayo. I liked them both but a bit small for 50 cent each. The empanada though...super good. The crust was crispy. The chimichurri sauce was delicious. I want to go back tomorrow to try the beef empanada.

Tuna tatare - Next time I'd ask for the spicy mayo on the side. Came with lots of avocado under the tuna.

The food is excellent, the service is slow, and the seating is communal. I visited gather three times now for dinner and I've loved the food every time. There are light and healthy options which make me feel good about what I'm eating, but just because it's healthy doesn't mean it's not delicious! The atmosphere is just a little unusual because gather is inside a neighborhood grocery. There's a TV in the restaurant area, and there is a bar to sit at, and then there are large long tables with benches. You may have to get friendly and ask someone to shift down a seat to find a place with enough space for your party. We had to do this once when there were four of us. I've tasted the following. Grilled Caesar salad Tostones Seared scallops Shrimp stack Tuna tartare served with pita chips Loaded tater tots Creme brulee Everything has been delicious and fresh. I do wish that the service was faster, and that's the main reason why I would not choose to come here all the time. The menu is extensive and impressive and offers a lot of variety.

I literally walked past three or four different three star restaurants on my way to Gather. Each place had a wait, the longest of which was over an hour. At Gather? I sat right down. It's Sunday, so the craft beer was only four dollars a pint. Sure, I'll take that double IPA that is usually $7.50 for only four dollars, thank you! Did my entrée cost a little more? Maybe, but look at the high-quality ingredients. Combine that with little to no wait and attentive service? Why isn't there a line out the door? I'm tell you what, this place has a hidden gem. If you're nearby, make the trip. I guarantee you won't regret it. Oh, and if my wife had been here, we would've attacked those small plates like there was no tomorrow. this place.

The restaurant was recently rebranded and I was curious to see what was new. I stopped in for dinner and was pleasantly surprised from the moment I walked in. Seating was open at the time and Noah, who was both the bartender and our server, greeted us with water right away. I have never been impressed by a casual restaurant's menu design before, but The Pub at EAV truly stands out. It is well thought out and visually appealing. I had been eyeing the tom yum wings for a while and ordered them as an appetizer. They were flavorful and served hot. The restaurant also provides complimentary house made pickles, and they were genuinely good. For my drink, I tried the Sneaky Link cocktail. Noah added muddled strawberries because it was a fresh batch and needed a little balance. I would honestly recommend keeping the strawberries as part of the drink because it turned out delicious. For entrées, we ordered the Heck Fire Burger and chose to have the bread served shareable style. They bake their bread in house and it is so good that they could easily offer a bread service option on its own. We also tried the lamb shank which was tender and very well prepared. The only disappointment of the entire evening was the bread pudding. It was recommended with a lot of enthusiasm which made me excited to try it. I ordered it to go and reheated it at home. Unfortunately, it tasted freezer burnt and slightly cross contaminated, almost as if it had absorbed the flavor of another item nearby. I am not a picky eater, but I could only take a couple of bites. Overall, The Pub at EAV is a great addition to the neighborhood. The service was excellent, the food was exciting and creative, and I will definitely return to try more dishes.

The pub provided a bingo sheet for all of us to complete and I was able to enjoy some fish and chips while filling it in! The food was lovely and much above your average pub feast. The fish and chips were available in sharing or solo size. I went for the sharing to split with my guest and it was the perfect amount of food for both of us (with some appetizers before hand). We also went for the pickles and edamame. The pickles had a unique tang to them that any beer lover would love. The edamame was covered in a delicious chili garlic oil and had some crunch to each bite with the cilantro and dried spices on top. I would definitely come back here for the food alone. They do theme nights other than survivor so make sure to checkout their Instagram page to see if one of their watch party events is up your alley! The service was fantastic from start to finish, and the seasonal menu was perfectly curated. We started with the fry bread and the olives and focaccia. Both were amazing, but the pepperoni butter that came with the fry bread was everyone's favorite. For my main, I ordered the lamb pappardelle, which was delicious. The pasta was fresh and the ragu was so flavorful. I also got to try the scallop ravioli and the potato parfait that came with the strip steak--all of it was beautifully presented and incredibly tasty. There's a large drinks menu that I can't comment on a teetotaler. I would've preferred a couple more non-alcoholic options, but I was able to get a flavored soda water so I didn't feel completely left out. The starters were the star of the menu to me. I had a great time ordering and sharing with my party, trying a bit of everything. Everything was delicious and beautiful. My single critique is that I wanted more of several items which is hardly a critique at all. Unfortunately I was somewhat let down by the vegan main which was a risotto with seasonal veg. The flavor was a little thin and it felt like a bit of an after thought compared to the other mains at my table. While I'm glad there's a vegan option, I'm not actually vegan! I just wanted the seasonal veg made to the chef's preference and was disappointed with the result. Everyone else at the table was thrilled with their meals though! Overall it was a tasty and enjoyable experience, though a few changes could've made it better.

They had a dj who was good but could use some discernment on changing songs when people are vibing to it, to another song with less tempo and vibes. There seemed to be one server and she was doing it all it seemed poor thing, which equaled to slow service. She was pleasant and did not appear overwhelmed. They didn't have the mixers to make a lemon drop or too much anything I wanted so I didn't order a drink except water. They list liquor on their website so I thought it would be a good place for me and my husband since I don't drink beer but he does. They also list wine. They only had 1 wine available, which was a can of Stella Rosa Black. My husband called it soda lol. It was 5% alcohol, in line with the seltzers they have. I started to get one as they had some flavors I might like but I thought we were hitting another spot and wanted to save my alcohol limit on something I really wanted. I'm not sure if I'll be back to try it though. I ordered the jerk chicken egg rolls. I liked them, my husband not so much. They are not spicy which suited me fine and I asked before ordering them the spice level. The sauce that comes with it really adds the jerk flavor, not spice. They came out piping hot. I would order them again if we returned. This next oops was on me. I saw they had oysters, but didn't check to see if they had raw oysters, which my husband loves. They have a variety of baked oysters and some fried ones. I like them chargrilled so that didn't work for me either. As they say, reading is fundamental. Had I done my homework we probably wouldn't have stopped in last night. But I wanted to support black owned businesses on Juneteenth. I hope they make it as they're the only black owned brewery in Atlanta as noted on their website. There's parking around the corner. The restaurant as I could see was clean. The server was friendly despite being overworked. Go try them if you're a beer &/or seltzer drinker and like baked or fried oysters.
