My son was in charge of choosing a restaurant to celebrate his new job and he made an excellent choice by suggesting Oreatha's. We were able to find parking on the street across from the restaurant. I made reservations prior on Resy. We arrived at 1:00 pm for brunch on a Saturday and they weren't very busy. They have beautiful art throughout the restaurant. To start, we ordered the fried green tomatoes and a bread platter. The bread platter had mini croissants, cinnamon rolls, nuts and a few berries. The fried green tomatoes were EPIC. The dish contained mozzarella cheese, succotash and was drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette. The tomatoes were seasoned well and fried to perfection. The my Osaka cocktail was really good and strong as well. I ordered poutine shrimp and grits for a main course. The shrimp were a nice size, but I didn't love the gravy. It contained bits of crawfish, but was a tad too salty. I sampled my mom's pork chop and OMG. I'm definitely returning for the pork chop. It was smoked, tender and had a hint of sweetness. Oreatha's was one of those spontaneously found spots recommended by none other than Yelp. Navigating the roads was a little bit tricky at night, we missed the place a few times. There's a couple spots to park on the side and also the parking lot across the street. Vibe was very cozy, definitely a tightly packed restaurant. But they do a good job with utilizing as much space as they can. Great spot for an intimate dinner or a small group outing. Wife and I had a reservation, I would say it's recommended to make one just in case. Food was excellent, they had offered an appetizer that changes every so often. Menu is also seasonal from the looks of it, it definitely adds a sense of mystery whenever you come in. Everything tasted great, especially the brussel sprouts. I'm not the kind of person to like brussel sprouts, but these were some of the best I've ever tried. Poutine fries were definitely a must try as well, reminds me of some of the best I had while in Montréal, CA. Service was impeccable, so nice and helpful. My first time here but I heard so many good things and I agree. I went in the evening about an 1-2hours before closing. Theres free street parking around. The service was great. We were checked on repeatedlly but not excessively. The food was excellent. The menu is not overwelming but its so varied and eclectic that it was hard to choose. Went for brunch with a friend and had an amazing time. From the moment I walked in to the moment I left the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Food was absolutely amazing! This place is an entire experience in culinary wonderment. The executive chef, Chef Lucke (pronounced Lucky) has painstakingly arranged a menu that is both innovative and delicious. I had the fried catfish and grits with poached eggs on the side. It was amazing! The catfish is marinated for 2 days, giving it a light, fluffy texture that contrasts well with the gluten-free flour batter. Im not even a huge fan of catfish. Im more of a red snapper guy. But, this is hands down the BEST fried catfish in the greater Atlanta area. The gourmet cocktails are also second to none. They make their own ginger syrup in house. So must try it. They also make a drink that is the equivalent of an old fashioned, with is oak smoked infused. I forget the names of the drinks. But, the pictures speak volumes. I've started a new thing of trying out a new restaurant on Thursdays. On my home from work, I decided to pull over to decide where I wanted to go and landed on Oreatha's. So let's get to it! GETTING IN: I went right when they opened and figured I wouldn't need a reservation, and I was right. I walked in and it was pretty empty aside from a larger party in the back. I wound up sitting at the bar. FOOD: For an appetizer, I ordered the pepper steak egg rolls...absolutely delicious! Great flavor and portion size, but a sauce would've set it off. For my drink, I ordered the Madre De La Patria. It was good - fresh, sweet, and refreshing. For the entree, I went for the oxtail lasagna. This was SO good, but veryyyy rich! Just the right amount of oxtail, perfect balance flavor-wise, and the goat cheese was an interesting but welcome addition! SERVICE: The service at the bar and overall was great. The bartender made great recommendations based off what I was feeling and was very helpful and attentive. The staff overall was cool too. PARKING: There are 3 spots on the street next to the restaurant, but you can also park across the street in the spots beside the church or across the way at the parking lot next to the shopping plaza. ATMOSPHERE: The atmosphere was cool. Music was good but given that they haven't been open long, it seems like a few details are still being worked out, but overall, it's a nice vibe! The bathrooms were really nice and clean, too. FINAL VERDICT: I was expecting Oreatha's to be a more traditional soul food spot based off Google and articles I read, but it's a global take on soul food, which was interesting. I have had this restaurant in my collection for over a year and finally had the opportunity to visit. My experience was exceptional, and I definitely recommend it. I went on a Friday evening at 5:30 pm so they had only opened 30mins prior. There was already a few tablwa occupied. Let's start with the parking. I can see where this could be an issue. GPS led us across to a different place, and it's street parking. We were able to find parking fairly close. It's the gray building behind the loud orange building. It appears they may have outside seating, but that wasn't open when I was there. It is a small place so make reservations or go early if you don't like waiting. When we left, the place was filling up quickly. Let's talk about food and service. Both were A+. Our waiter's name was "Blue." he was attentive and knew the menu thoroughly and offered great suggestions. I had the catfish and grits, and my husband had duck ravioli. Both great choices. Our appetizers were crawfish poutine fries, hummus, and the bread platter. These were all good. If I had to point to one thing that was less desirable, it was the chocolate bread pudding. I would take off half a star. My husband loves bread pudding, and he didn't think it hit. He said it tasted like it was in the microwave too long. It wasn't your traditional bread pudding, and to me tasted like chocolate chip cookie warmed, good but not what you were expecting and didnt live up to other choices. My dessert was the blood orange key lime and run, don't walk to try it. Delicious. The cocktails were amazing. The old-fashioned sets the standard for all others for me. First of all, I can't understand why this restaurant does not have Michelin stars. It was a culinary experience! I was in town with friends and family to celebrate my birthday. So let's start with the manager BLUE... he was so professional and accommodating. He took the time to answer any questions we might have about the menu. He also made several suggestions which we followed. Also, the service was fast! The wine was good and I am somewhat of a wine snob and frequently visit Napa. The presentations were very beautiful and pleasing to the eyes. Also, had twists to traditional soul and comfort foods. Like Oxtail Lasagna instead of ground meat it was pulled meat. Instead of chicken wings you had the option of duck wings. Instead of fried chicken and grits they had a whole branzino fish and COCONUT GRITS!! The ambiance was ok but the service from Blue, the manager, the chef Lucke who took the time to come out and greet us personally, even TT who answered the phone and stayed sweet when we changed our reservation 3 times outweighed the physical plant. Really wish I could say I had a positive experience here but it defintely left me wanting for more. Me and my family arrived a few minutes after 9pm on a Friday night. It took a couple minutes to be greeted and a gentleman told us he would get a table ready for our party of 4. A few minutes after that a different waitress came up to us and said we could not be seated because they were "closing soon and behind in the kitchen". I have never been refused a seat within 45 minutes of closing. We told her a man had already said he was getting a table ready for us and we had already been waiting. After that, we were able to be seated. The same woman who tried not to seat us ended up being our waitress at the table. After going aound the table to put in drink orders, she then tells us the liquor we wanted wasn't available. Fine by us. We then asked to switch our drinks to cocktails but that seemed to bother her as she had to go into the system and make the change. We were given free salmon empandas. Maybe due to the fact that we were almost refused seating 45 minutes to closing. From reviewing the menu after, I know they were salmon empandas but I couldn't tell what they were filled with when we were given them. To eat I ordered the salmon sandwish. I love a good sandwich and believe that the pairings have to be right. The filet of salmon was much smaller than the bread they serve it with. And the toast of the bread makes it hard, so when you bite into it the contents just spill out. Not a good eating experience. I will say the sauce on the sandwich was good and the salmon was seasoned nicely. I ended up eating at my meal with a fork to make it easier and cleaner. When the bill came, gratuity was included and the gratuity was plenty for what our party of 4 ordered. That didn't satisfy our waitress because she made a comment to the person who was paying the bill, in front of the whole table, that more wasn't added on for an additional tip on top of gratuity. Never in my life have I experience wait staff making a comment at the table about the gratuity/tip...especially from someone who didn't want to seat us to begin with. read more

Quiet, pleasant, comfortable, and chic. Staff was nice and friendly. Ordered the cauliflower appetizer and the chick n quilt. Everything was delicious. The Cascade Heights Historic District has been bringing it with the restaurant offerings. Oreatha's is one of the newer restaurants to bless this area with its presence, and it's delicious. We stopped in for brunch, and it did not disappoint. This restaurant is owned by Chef Deborah Vantrece, who also owns the popular Twisted Soul restaurant in West Midtown. If you like Twisted Soul, I think you'll love Oreatha's even more- I know I did. We had the shrimp-crawfish and grits and the porterhouse steak. The steak was the star. Everything was wonderful, both my husband and I both agreed that the steak was one of the best steaks that we've had. Very flavorful and cooked perfectly. There's also a full bar, and they specialize in making craft cocktails. Went today for Easter lunch and was not impressed. Our food was lukewarm. The grits were ok. I've had better. The catfish was a little too salty for me. The fried chicken was good. Would have been better if it was hot. The collard greens salad was delicious. The service was almost nonexistent and you pay automatic 20% gratuity. We were halfway through our meal before we saw someone and flagged them down to order a beverage. My favorite starters are the Salmon Wontons (seasonal dish), Spicy Salmon Sushi Bake, Fried Green Tomatoes, and the Angus Beef Pepper Steak Egg Rolls. They are all great takes on dishes from your favorite international cuisines but with a Southern twist and a lot of LOVE. You certainly won't want to eat just one starter...I typically order two sometimes three. Don't judge me.lol My favorite entree is the Mother Oreatha's Duck Pot Pie...Wooooo Weeee! It's right on time for these cold Winter nights ahead. It's flavors are sweet and savory with a host of veggies and the hit of the dish is not just the duck it's the addition of sweet potatoes. The chef can cook his ass off and greeting the diners to inquire about our meals! The kitchen is so small it is hard to believe he is turning out these stellar dishes in such a small space! The staff is attentive and you may catch Chef VanTrece in the flesh at the bar enjoying the smooth sounds of live music and on a Wednesday night! The food is spectacular, whimsical, and pushes past alll points of friction babee! This is not a normal southern food joint! The ambiance was quaint... great music, cozy seating, and noise at a comfortable level. (Bar and patio seating were available. ) The menu was uncluttered and interesting. We decided to try the Thai catfish with scrambled eggs and cheese grits, shrimp and crawfish etoufee grits with scrambled eggs, and sweet potato pancakes. First, I'll say it's a 'gem' for the neighborhood (I live in the area); more intimate, nice establishments like this are needed in this part of town. On to the review... for the small plates, the collard green hush puppies were a hit; however, for the main entree, the vegetable risotto was a bit too salty for my taste buds. My neighbor had the salmon empanadas (another small plate), which he said were good and filling (he didn't even order a main entree). The alcoholic drinks were overpriced for the amount in the glass and the service was a bit slow being that it wasn't busy due to the holiday weekend (even the co owner mentioned the crowd was less than usual ‍). Went to Oreatha's for a date. Snuggled in the heart of the westside where Cascade Rd and Benjamin E. Mays split this is a quaint quiet little gem. The decor is very welcoming with big glass windows to see the goings on of the neighborhood as you enjoy dinner. When my date and I visited the establishment 06/04/2022 the bar wasn't open yet so cocktails and wine were complimentary with your meal. I had an old fashioned while my date had a good red wine blend. To the food, the assorted bread basket appetizer was very tasty. Various breads and the spread that accompanied it complimented the various breads well. My date ordered the duck pot pie. She let me sample it and it was very delicious, flaky crust, decadent sauce, and the duck was cooked perfectly, very northern African vibes/Mediterranean like. It was good. As pictured I had the grilled pork chop with broccolini and a 4 cheese pasta and a side salad. The pork chop was good smoky flavors rub wasn't overpowering, just a well cooked chop.
