Why are they releasing patients at all, if the patient is still incapacitated from sedation? I was without food or sleep for 3 days prior to this procedure, and was not in any condition for this manager to be chastising me on what cab I used! She ended up frustrated, and kept saying 'Do you want to reschedule?' Obviously she has never experienced a colonoscopy, and No, I did not want to reschedule. I had been in there twice before, once for a C/O and once for a gastric surgery to prevent a cancer from growing. That surgery went bad and I ended up in the hospital for 6 days. So Yes, I'd been there before. No, I've had enough of OEC, and frankly, I'd rather get cancer than go there again!

Got my lungs ex-ray and Covid test. both were negative. You know, come to think about it no one gave me a Covid test at Dr Stanke?

After a cursory interview, he said I had IBS (which I don't), and gave my omeprazole. Over the past year I discovered one of my meds irritated my stomach and since changing it, rarely have indigestion or reflux and have had no need for Omeprazole. When I went in for a colonoscopy this week, the prep nurse asked about any health symptoms. When I told her I often have nausea and vomiting which, on top of my fibromyalgia fatigue, can be debilitating, she said I should tell Dr Stanke before the procedure, in case he wanted to do anything else while I was under sedation. When I did, Dr Stanke became extremely rude, arrogant, and dismissive, telling me I should, "Get over it!" He continued on when I tried to say that the nausea was debilitating. He again told me to get over it and said I was there for a colonoscopy and he wasn't giving me any free advice. I was shocked. I had to tell him the nurse had told me to tell him, and that, as a therapist, I never would have told a client to "get over it," and suggested that he could have simply asked that I come into his office for anything else. Of course, I will never go to see him again, nor would I recommend him to anyone else.

Popped into my room throughout my week long visit at McKenzie Willamette's Progressive Care Unit (which she is somehow the 'hospitalist' for) to make weird and taunting statements while displaying a poorly disguised grin. After a procedure to save my life, she (the last time I'll assign it any human/animal pronoun) was the first face I saw while coming out from under anesthesia, telling me it was discharging me immediately. My actual cardiologist had told me I would be kept for observation. When I argued with it, it told me it was her wing and it was not going to be argued with. I stayed the night but was rushed out next day even after staff had damaged my prosthetic in the process. Yeah, I'm also an amputee. I would recommend it be stripped of title and prosecuted. It is an absolute monster and it never should have been given license to practice. Still in process of taking legal action. The ER staff were amazing. The majority of nurses on it's wing became increasingly cold and passive aggressively punitive as the week went on, and I have no doubt it was at the urging of Whitsel. F@#k Whitsel.

Elder Health and Living, Chateau Gardens, and Waterford Grand, are the other top places. But Quail Crest is the place I picked. One thing you want to check, is if the facility has medicare rollover. Which means once the resident runs out of money, will the facility allow the resident to remain? Quail Crest does allow this. Waterford Grand does not. Quail Crest has these individual "houses" where the residents live. And they have a shared "backyard", that all the residents from the different houses can all access. It has a BBQ, easy to walk paths, beautiful gardens, and many plants. And in this shared yard, they can interact with residents from different cottages. The facility very clean, but it doesn't feel like a hospital. They have a lot of activities, and things for the residents to do. We had a few minor bumps in the first few months, but that was during 2020, and they had a lot of staff turnover. But since then, they seem to have have gotten things sorted out. Many of the staff who was working there, were willing to give out their cel phone numbers, so you could call or text, and get updates on how things were going. It is a very expensive facility, so that would be one of the downsides. But when talking about caring for a loved-one, you want the best for them.

The nurse was fine though she wasn't the best communicator; she wasn't clear in what she was asking and then acted like I was . After about 15 minutes or so, a PA came in for examination, diagnosis, and provided a prescription. We were there approximately 45 minutes, which was a pleasant surprise. What made this a less pleasant experience is what happened after. The pharmacy they were sending the prescription to didn't have record of it. I called to ask if they had a prescription number that I could provide in case it wasn't coming up with my phone number. Instead of simply saying "no, the pharmacy generates that, not us" she gave me other info and I finally asked if they had a number and she said no. I'd have appreciated if she said "we don't have a pharmacy number but I can give you this other info if it helps." Later when I called them back because the pharmacy said they didn't have the prescription and the doctor needed to call it in (I had already told the pharmacy that urgent care said that THEY--the pharmacy--needed to call them, but she said they wouldn't) the same woman I'd spoken to earlier at urgent care said that they'd just get the same wait time, and I explained I'd already told the pharmacy everything urgent care told me before but this is what I'd been told. Both times I called she acted a bit like I was wasting her time and asking asinine questions, which is why my rating is a 3 instead of 4.

I found out this morning that PeaceHealth itself had layed off 20,000 workers in January 2020. That was pre-covid19. Now I know why it takes so long to get the phone calls answered. Please people, clean you lab bathroom.

I started going to Keiper Spine about 14 years ago with lower back pain, and for years, I would…read moreperiodically get cortisone injections in my spine that offered amazing relief. But about 5 years ago, the pain wasn't going away after the injection like it usually did, and in fact seemed to be going in a different direction. So, Dr. Keiper ordered an MRI of my left SI joint, and sure enough, that was a new problem. A year or two of successful cortisone injections fixed the problem - until it didn't. Dr. Keiper told me that there was a surgery he could perform that would probably relieve all of my pain, and I agreed to go forward with that plan. But my insurance, Blue Cross, denied me the surgery several times, claiming that it was not medically necessary. After the injections stopped working and surgery was going to be the only way for me to be free of almost constant pain while moving (On the 1 to 10 pain scale, I was between 6 and 8 the majority of my awake hours), which was severely impacting my quality of life. Even doing simple household chores like vacuuming, laundry, gardening, etc., was miserable. Finally, Blue Cross did approve the surgery, which was performed by Dr. Keiper, and the results have been amazing. For all of the years I have been seeing Dr Keiper and his other staff at Keiper Spine, I have always been impressed with the friendliness and professionalism from the front office to the nurses and medical assistants. I would highly recommend Dr. Keiper and his staff to anyone who is looking for relief from back pain. I think he is the best neurosurgeon in Oregon!
