This is a five star diner and a staple in the Wilton community. I'd wake up early on Sunday to avoid a crowd. Everything is perfect from menu to service to food. Marie was a very pleasant waitress Sunday morning. After we came in with a family of five , it was busy. I had poached eggs over spinach & feta, gluten free bread . Having GF wheat free options are always a big plus to me! They have daily specials that are available if you ask about them and if they are ready. Yes, I asked about scallops and rice at 9 am, I am not a pancake waffle kind of gal. My kids had pancakes eggs, bacon, corned beef hash all delicious. Huge cups of coffee! My family, friends and I were dining here for years back when we lived in Wilton, almost my whole life. This diner has a special place in my heart. Lots of great breakfasts, soups, burgers, meatballs, and beverages. Sweetest hot chocolate ever which is great for the cold weather! This is the first time in my life that I've gotten eggs benedict and the hollandaise sauce JUST tastes like butter. I have a dairy sensitivity but can handle a little butter in hollandaise. Pretty sure this "sauce" is just butter. No lemon, no pepper, no egg flavors at all. Only giving stars because the service was great despite them being packed. read more

I was disappointed. Stoped in for lunch with my Mother, she ordered "chicken noodle" soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. The "chicken noodle" was chicken broth with ditaloni pasta, no chicken, carrots or celery. The grilled cheese sandwich had a pickle on the plate, and I've make more appetizing GC at home. I had a gyro sandwich, 5 slices of meat, a pita that looked more like a pancake and what amounted to Salsa, finely chopped tomato and onion between the 5 slices of meat and pita. How is this place getting such nice reviews? I've eaten here about a dozen times now and I come to the same conclusion every time: Wow! what a waste of time and money! You get free refills with your soft drinks, which is great. However, they give you a tiny glass so you have to ask for refills all the time. The service just isn't there. It takes 10 minutes just to get a refill! The wait staff are not attentive and the food is sub-par. I understand I'm at a diner, but how hard is it to cook a burger? I've even strayed from the regular menu and tried some of the daily specials. They tasted more like annual specials that sit around in a warming oven for hours before being served. Maybe even days. I don't know. What I do know is that I will never order from their special menu again until they get a new chef. Fortunately for the owner's it's a very convenient location. I'll still probably stop by for breakfast again some time. How hard can it be to screw up french toast? The last time I ate there for breakfast I asked for home-fries well done. My waitress came out with my food, noticed that the potatoes were not in fact well done. She wanted to bring them back to cook them more but by that time it was too late. I don't send food back into any kitchen, ever. I've seen "Waiting". I don't want spit in my food. I never went to the "Old Orems" that everyone keeps talking about. I was apprehensive eating here. I was reading several reviews on people developing food poisoning after ordering burgers and gyros. So the safe bet was eggs, bacon, sweet potato fries and curly fries. The eggs were ok it did not taste old, sweet potato fries could've been hotter and crispier, curly fries were fine, but the bacon was aged, stale, cooked to death and was reheated plenty of times to revive leftovers to serve to the customers. I was taken here last night by a local and thought it was quite good. I had the spanakopita platter that comes with a nice Greek salad and had to bring half of the spanakopita home it was such a big portion. And very yummy. My two dining companions had some huge breakfast combos. The one thing I can say that didn't look really good was the underdone bacon they had to send back. But that was done without complaint. The only other thing I can complain about was the wine prices for mediocre wine. But that's what I get for needing glass of wine in a diner. I look forward to going back and trying more of their Greek options in particular. Service was quick and the place was very lively on a Friday evening. If I could give 0 stars & make it count - I would. Took us 15minutes just to get a menu, then once we got a menu we were totally overwhelmed by the 5 pages of regular stuff + the 3 pages of "Daily Specials". The prices are high for a diner, but expectant because it's Wilton. I ordered banana pancakes with bacon, my friend ordered grilled cheese w/ bacon & tomatoes with fries. First she wanted french toast with home fries but the waitress told her it was "pre-made with onions"; which to us meant that it was frozen. Everything was entirely bland, and cardboardy. It wasn't even Bisquick - it was like the cheapest box of pancake mix that you can find at a dollar store. And my friends fries were definitely frozen & dropped in some lukewarm oil. The bacon tasted like it had been sitting under a warmer from this afternoon and just thrown on the plate. When we got our check, the waitress had an attitude because she charged us for a grilled cheese with a side of fries instead of the meal (which comes with fries). When we went to pay for the bill the host asked us how everything was, to which we were honest & said "We've definitely had better. Everything was bland and had zero flavor. It was pretty shocking". What did he do? NOTHING. His response? "Hmph. - $19.83". He didn't even offer to comp anything or to get us something else and/or ask us more about why we didn't enjoy our visit. Cannot understand for the life of me why it's always packed other than there's really nothing else to eat in Wilton besides really expensive restaurants and pizza places. Besides location, there's really nothing else going for it - It's definitely not the food. If you can't make pancakes and grilled cheese, I'm not sure what you can cook. As many others have said, the "old Orems" was a real diner, with fast, good service and simple well made breakfast items. Now, they seem to think they are a famous, tourist worthy part of Wilton tradition with prices and service to match. Hey, the food is ok if you stick to the basics, but I feel they have forgotten what a "diner" is supposed to be. I don't go there anymore, unless it is totally off-peak and the person I am meeting is GPS challenged and can't find the Village luncheonette, which is far better. Service is just too inconsistent for a diner. There can be two or three wait staff on the other side of the place, standing around, but your side is slow because your server has too many tables. I've been spending a lot of time on Route 7 lately, and on the Wilton end before a long drive to Danbury, there's Orem's. I've been here twice, both at odd hours, but there's never been a problem getting a seat. Both times, I had the spanikopita platter, which came with a Greek salad. Light on the butter, heavy on the spinach, medium on the feta, it's a fantastic filling meal. The salad comes with a basalmic dressing that includes extra pepper and a couple other spices I couldn't identify, but I didn't care, I was enjoying it so much. Both times I took one of the spinach pastries home for future noshing. This time I took a (huge!) piece of baklava home as well. My sweetie had the lamb chops our first visit, which were decent, but not rave-worthy. This time, he set his sights on the twin burger and it was almost the size of his head when fully assembled. While he was absorbed in its meaty goodness, I stole a few of his french fries, which were delicious. Service was prompt though our server the second time was a little too businesslike to be likeable. This isn't to say she didn't get the job done, she certainly did that, but her smile was a little forced. I'll definitely be going back, having friends in both Norwalk and Danbury, I have a lot of driving 7 ahead of me. read more

We came here for dinner at the end of a roadtrip. Two kids and two adults (the adults were excited to get into a proper NE diner...they just don't do them right anywhere else). The service was very friendly from the moment we walked in, and we got seated and started looking through the menu. As was to be expected, they have a huge menu, exactly the kind of diner menu you miss when you move out of the NE. We ordered: Gyro platter, lasagna, and a pastrami sandwich. The lasagna came with soup and the gyro platter came with a pretty large salad. We were all starving, and one kid was pretty grumpy, but we dug in. The gyro was (unfortunately) the pre-formed 'slices'...which made me sad. And it came on a bed of rice and tomatoes, with a side of flat bread. I put together some sandwiches and then ate the rice/tomatoes that were left over. The lasagna was okay. A very large portion, but the sauce seemed a bit off. Not like 'off' as in it had gone bad, but it just didn't seem like good sauce. I liked it when I was hungry, but when I had some that was leftover, I was less impressed. So I'd probably avoid that one. The sandwich looked great, and I'd give that a try. We came in and had a good meal, that was a good value, with very friendly customer service. Next time I'm coming for breakfast, as thats the meal that these places tend to really do well with. read more

An OK Diner...nothing special by any means. Just solid, filling diner food in a setting that you have seen countless times before in diners across the U.S.A. (quick note, the orginal Orem`s decor actually had some CHARACTER, this one does not) For me, this a good place to enjoy a hearty breakfast on Saturday or Sunday. Or, if my schedule can permit it, maybe a breakfast during a weekday. Other than that, I would not go here for lunch or dinner. I mean, why would anyone do so when those meals could be taken care of by so many other better dining establishments for the same price. Or cook their basic grub in your own kitchen. Hollaaaaaaaaaa! I love this diner. I love the food, the prices are sensible, and the staff are rockin'! The decor is really funky, like a blast to the past. But it doesn't define the resturant. The food is wonderful. The fat girl in me loves the mozzarella sticks, the pasta lover loves the penne a la vodka and lobster ravioli, and my inner Greek loves the saltimboca. Not to be missed are the soups, either. I'm quite fond on the pea soup. Milkshakes? Yes. Pie? Hella. Everything? You bet your cute little booty. They legit have it all. Orems is popular to everyone in the area, from locals, cops and anyone looking for a bite after work before joking the Merritt parkway traffic. Really not a good diner, but is the only diner option close to Wilton. Always packed, so service can be extremely slow. Chocolate chip pancakes are subpar and best, and the home fries are not very good. Also not cheap like a diner should be. Way too expensive for the quality of the food. read more

If you live in Wilton, You are guaranteed to have dined there. It is a landmark that everyone who has passed through Wilton know about. people even give directions using Orem's as a landmark. And surely the Wiltoneer's love their Diner. On weekends this place is like a zoo. Though it is fairly large, the parking lot is PACKED and often there is a line at the entrance. The place is run by a greek family, and employs a fairly friendly staff, who will share their favorites and give recommendations. The serving sizes are Huge. Their greek salad or hose sald was actually really good, and me who is not a salad eater was surprised at consuming the whole salad each time I have been there. The Gyro platter and Chicken Souvlaki platter are both great. serving sizes are enough to feed you for the next day, the taste is great and fresh. No matter what time of day I have gone there, i have found atleast 10 tables occupied, so safe to say it is a HIT in Wilton. The restaurant itself is very clean, you can tell just by the shiny windows and floor, and like i said the food always tastes fresh. read more

My family is a regular here. Lots of options. The homefries are great. The italian omelet is seriously one of the best omelet's I've ever had - so cheesy! The service can be spotty especially on busier days, but you'll get a table fast 9 times out of 10 - even if it's crowded. The best thing is the fact irs the one diner that still has the steak fries. Also their gravy is great. Clean and large spacious eatery. Ample parking. Nice wait staff and they never forget their regulars. The food is really good. Regardless if breakfast or lunch. Agreed. How silly that some people expect gourmet fare! I have been to my fair share of diners in the area and this is one by far the best. Friendly people who have been with them for years. Clearly they treat their staff well! The owners are great people and always give us a warm welcome when we come in and make us feel like family. The food is fine as far as diners go. Breakfast is definitely better than dinner options in my opinion. But service, especially during the later hours is absolutely terrible. No one likes to have their menus and napkins and other such things thrown on the table when their hands are outstretched to receive them politely. Manager seemed uncaring and unenthusiastic about seating us. Our waiter tossed our check onto the table when we weren't even halfway through with our meal. The food and drinks are also overpriced. Used to come here quite often in high school, but it seems everything has changed, and not for the better. Well, went for dinner on my way to Wilton Night class. You would think the GYRO would be fresh, nope, out off a box, thought it would be from one of those turning, fresh cut, hot lamp systems. Pea Soup was OK, do not eat the croutons , unless you like pure fat. The special that night Nov 06, was Hungarian Goulash, the meat was fine but the noodles were old and gravy was tasteless. By the way , all the tables around me received bread and butter when arrived and sat down and then told of soup of the day, I did not get bread or ever told of the soup of the day. While eating my soup and my wife her 1st course salad included with the meal, our entries came out. What, now our entries became Luke warm while we finished our first round of food. I guess like everyone says about OREMS, breakfast, burgers and maybe a pastrami on rye, other then that, go else where...and yes the service was horrible - if you are not a local for a few years and they do not recognize your face, good luck - they like their locals.... read more
