I have a soft spot in my heart for diners. Growing up in Brooklyn, NY, I watched most of my favorite diners go out of business over the years. I'm happy that Orem's survived 2020 and I hope it's here to stay. My favorite dishes at Orem's are the housemade cheese blintzes, breaded chicken cutlet with gravy, and chocolate fudge cake. If you were to get anything, seriously .... get the cheese blintzes. They're soooooooo unbelievably good. My least favorite dish is the gyro - I find it to be a bit too salty. This place is more than fine, and the food is a treat. Three of us at lunch was 45.4. I had coffee, a lox and onions omelet; the GF had a Cobb Salad, and Mom, gyro on pita; and a side of fries for the table. I had a grilled cheese with bacon and tomato on rye, a piece of baklava (made in house, I was told), and a coffee. All were prepared and served properly, and delicious. Always enjoy eating in. Ordered Breakfast for pickup for the 1st time. I'm was ready upon arrival. Very generous portions. Scrambled eggs and egg white omelet were perfect. Several fresh thick slices of tomato were substituted for hash browns- delicious. Hard to know if the potatoes and toast were prepared crispy and got a bit soggy on the way home or if neither had been cooked/toasted enough? I just went into this diner to place an outgoing lunch order and was met first by a rude waiter telling me to go to the front to place an order. Once I got to the front, an extremely rude man looked at me with the most ridiculous face and said in a rather gruff voice "you have to WAIT". He repeated himself to me as if I couldn't hear his loud and obnoxious command at first. My son then said to me, "well that was rather rude, let's go. They don't deserve your business!" Ordered some pancakes and corned beef hash and just as I was getting ready to eat the hash, moved the plate closer and there was hair stuck to the plate. Pros: Eggs Benedict is out of this world delicious! Hands-down one of the best I have ever had. The ham is thick and well cooked and the hollandaise sauce has a very unique yet still traditional flavor. The pancakes are fluffy and perfectly sweet/salty. And when you add the pure maple syrup on top of the pancakes, you are in for a mind-blowing delicious experience. The coffee was fresh, hot and flavorful. Cons: None! The worst diner, service, and food I've ever been too in MY LIFE! I'm seated in a lightly busy establishment, waited a moment to be waited on. Young, very inexperienced wait staff took my order. Orem's used to be our go-to diner. The past few times we have gone, the consistency of the food was not great and the service was pretty bad - we seem to always get this one crabby older woman. Tonight, my husband, son and his friend were ordering and my son, who has social anxiety and has FINALLY started ordering for himself was chastised by the server who said to him "why are you afraid to speak?" I visited for a work meeting and had a good experience here. I was greeted with friendly service on a Wednesday morning and our party of 3 was seated right away. I went with an egg white spinach omelette with mozzarella cheese. The order came with home fries and toast as well. For the money, you receive a very generous portion. I was really pleased with the freshness of the ingredients and the flavors as well. My party mentioned this diner is a favorite in Wilton, CT and I can see why. It is quite charming! read more

Typical diner. Plenty of free parking. Clean and neat. Our server was friendly and attentive. Good, but not great food. I had a bowl of lentil soup. It was OK, but, frankly, I've had better lentil soup from a Campbell's Soup can. My wife had chicken soup. She says it was good, but not great. My brother had a chicken salad sandwich, which, he said, was OK but not memorable. And my sister-in-law had a BLT sandwich, also not memorable, and two thirds of a chocolate milk shake. She assured me that it was very good. I've eaten at lots of diners. Usually, they take pains to serve food that you would normally expect to eat at a gourmet restaurant. When you list your diner "favorites" on your menu, they ought to be your solid go-to dishes. Your can't misses, if you will. So, on a big diner menu, I ordered the tuna melt. What could be bad? Well, for starters, the "grilled cheese" was barely melted. And the tuna was cold with the bread barely toasted. Which would even be ok if the tuna was good. But instead it was just kind of bland. The fries didn't rescue this dish, though they weren't bad. But, as the saying goes, I've experienced better. My dining companion had eggs and bacon. Growing up, Orem's (the old little one) was the diner closest to home - so I went there a lot and always thought it was a fun cool little down-home honest to goodness diner. I was bummed when it closed and the new bigger improved Orem's opened and initially was hesitant to check it out .. finally I did and was very impressed. The new Orem's is BIG with lots of parking, and the menu seems to have grown tremendously. The restaurant always seems to be packed, and they always manage to get you seated pretty quick and you get your food surprisingly fast most times. The last few visits to Orem's I have found a few things I have really liked - starting with the vegetarian appetizer combo - a great platter of hummus, tzatziki, pita and kalmata olives. We were all sat down around 12 noon & we realized the waiter was starting to rush us a bit halfway through the meal. At 1pm without asking gave us our bill & then said can we leave since they needed the table this was despite the fact that the baby was still eating. We complied & left.
