I wish my experience would be better with this place. I asked for a blow dry with volume and some curls and ended up with simple curls done with an curling iron. Orlando assured me that in this way the curls will stay longer and I even left the place with bunch of hairpins in my head to let them curl even more. I was instructed to take the pins off when I get to the place of the event. So when I did, I was so disappointed. Not alone the hair did not curl but I spent an hour and a half at the place was away from home already to actually redo it myself. Honestly, I could have curl my hair at home much better rather than paying $60 for such a measurable job. Wasn't the happiest with my cut when I walked out, but wanted to wait for a few days to see if it settles down. But, there is no settling in. Wanted my hair short so it's easy to handle in the summer. However, Oren chopped it way way shorter than I wanted. I wasn't asked of the length was fine before going chop chop chop. I wanted asymmetrical, but I've got a stale uneven cut which only parts one way. The place is not too large so it's difficult to hear the customer because of the hairdryer and tap sounds. I wish stylists would spend just 5-10mins patiently understanding what customers wanted, instead of being an assembly line. We'd leave so happy. That's not to much to ask when you're paying $60. I am from San Francisco and moved to Kew Gardens last year. I had to find a new stylist in NY. I tried two other salons and was not happy. I walked by Oren's place in Forest Hills and it looked great. Clean and stylish. This was about 4 or 5 months ago. I walked in and he did a color and blow dry. I've been a big fan ever since. I got my hair cut by Oren the weekend before Christmas and was very pleased by the cut. He re-shaped my long hair into a medium length bob. While he was not the most personable hair stylist I've ever been to, he did a great job. The salon was clean, well organized and I appreciated he did not try to up-sell me expensive products. Next time though, I will ask for a longer hair wash/scalp massage because that's my favorite part. COOL LOOKING PLACE - BUT EXPENSIVE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND INCONSISTENT QUALITY OF SERVICE. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. What a shame. At first I was excited to see a new salon in the Forest Hills area -- we surely needed it -- and went to try them out when they opened. I was generally pleased with the first haircut (although it's very expensive for the area) and somewhat amused by Oren himself (the owner and stylist -- who reminds me a lot of Adam Sandler in Don't Mess with the Zohan). The decor is also clean, white, modern and very chill. Unfortunately, subsequent haircuts were not as well-done. Since his clientele has built up a little , Oren seems increasingly disinterested in doing a professional job and leaving the customer satisfied...and more concerned with fawning over his elderly yenta clientele or trying to sell you his "exclusive" line of over-priced hair gels. As a result, he's gotten sloppy and careless. Maybe if you plan to spend well over $100 or so and buy his complete line of expensive junk he may take more interest in YOUR hair, but I wouldn't bet your scalp on it. Sadly, they have about the same level of consistency as some generic place like Supercuts - for double the price. Good luck...as for me, I will not be returning. read more

After being a client of Oren's from the past, growing up in FH, and seeing his work online I thought it looked amazing. I called during hours when the the salon was supposed to be open (4:00pm and they are open until 7:00) and received a VM and explained I was looking for a great color after going without due to COVID and asked if they had WIFI so that I could work whilst getting my color done. Not only did I never receive a call back from this salon that obviously doesn't need business, when I called them I got told by the person who sounded drugged out that answered the phone upon saying you are obviously too busy and you don't want customers as you don't call people back to receive a yes. I am glad your salon is so busy that you don't call back your potential customers. It sounds like an awesome business plan and must be good to have such a thriving business in a sea of Forest Hills salons that always look busier than yours. If I could give zero stars I would. So glad that you don't need clients and don't return calls requesting appointments. I likely have a job that is $300 plus but who needs money anyway? read more

This salon is a neighborhood gem. Oren is the best bar none. I have been a client for several years now, and could not imagine my life without him. I trust him implicitly, and never have to give him much guidance. He always knows what works best for me. Since I have naturally curly, fine hair, he cuts my hair in such a way that I can wear it straight or curly, and it still looks good. Shouly and Vilma are great also. They have both cut my hair. Shouly gives amazing cuts and blowouts. She also has done Brazilian blowouts for me and I was very happy with the results. Finally, FINALLY I love my hair!!! Oren is the best and my hair has never looked better - from the cut to the color! Highly recommended!!

I went in for a keratin treatment about a month ago and chose the formaldehyde-free keratin. They spoke highly about it and said that it would make my hair much smoother and would last at least 3-4 months depending on how often I washed. This treatment made my hair WORSE. In the first two weeks of having it my hair was falling out like crazy every time I shampooed. That has started to slow down, but my hair now gets greasy MUCH faster and is even more unmanageable than before the treatment. Before the treatment I was able to just blow dry my hair and have it come out nice and smooth. It took awhile but it came out nice without a straightener. Now my hair comes out extremely poofy and frizzy with blow drying and I am forced to straighten my hair to make it look decent. Please note- I did NOT use the wrong shampoo or conditioner after the treatment, I specifically bought both sulfate AND sodium chloride-free, as they instructed me to. So this is not the reason for why my hair is the way it is. It was 100% the keratin they did on me. I believe I wasted $350 for no good reason and would advise against getting it done. EDIT TO REVIEW AFTER OWNER'S COMMENT- Don't appreciate him saying that "there is no way" the treatment did this. It is very clear to me that this only started happening after I had the treatment done and implying that this is false is wrong on the owner's part. read more

Just moved in the neighborhood, had been looking for a hair stylist knowledgeable in the proper hair care for my curly hair and that would also more importantly get my hair back to being healthy from years of damage, excessive bad keratin treatments, heat damage, stress as well as environmental damage from the different climates I had been traveling through these past couple years. I can honestly tell you I am completely happy with my first experience at the salon and with the outcome of my hair. I finally feel restored!! Oren took time to listen to my concerns, mishaps along with my hair history n cared enough to even ask about the stress factors that contributed to my weak, breakage n dry brittle hair which was even falling out when I tell you I had a major fro going on and had been depressed thinking I would soon need to cut more length off. When I got there which was a bit early they all welcomed me Alex introduced himself offered to take my coat, listened, offered me a drink and took time to explain the products used at the salon. Oren soon took time in between clients and examined my hair texture and listen and asked questions. Alex then washed my hair and took me to Oren who was waiting, he immediately addressed my previous concerns, gave me his input n recommend. My hair immediately felt silky soft in a natural way which is how I prefer.... He understood my concerns and wasn't pushy about any of the services they offer. Lastly, I wanted to add natural curls so Shouly was so amazing and worked her magic with the curling iron to give me body n fabulous bouncy natural look I wanted. I feel blessed to have had the best of the entire team worked on my hair!! I love the result and would definitely recommend this Salon and stylist to everyone. I came here a while ago and had a terrible experience but I was honestly too afraid to post about it immediately because I thought it would be too obvious who it was. Then I forgot about it! So I'm not sure if the particular hairstylist (male, in his 20s) is still there. I have very straight, pretty easy-going hair. I had told him I had not gotten my hair cut professionally in years (this is my usual MO) and I knew it was probably not even. I just wanted some long layers. The haircut was fine, but he was an awful person to be around. While he combed my hair (with a comb so sharp and with such force I felt like my scalp was being lacerated) he kept *complaining* about it--that it was uneven--and when he encountered any knots he just forcibly raked through without holding the hair closer to the scalp to protect it from being torn out. I endured having my hair basically insulted and mistreated for a mediocre haircut that a student could do. read more
