I've never had a problem with this place before today. I'm a regular here ; anytime I order anything I specifically order without onions and today was not any different. I ordered my food to go and the employee repeated my order back to be several times even when it was ready so I felt no need to check it before I left, when I made it home to sit down to eat there's onions all through my food so of course I called to tell them and the lady proceeded to argue that there was no onions in there when there it was "Napa" clearly was so she put the manager/owner on the phone who asked for my cell to text me a picture of onions and Napa because they both look alike (but clearly don't taste the same) even after sending the pictures of food back and forth they proceeded to tell me it was "Napa" and not onions but if I came back they'd replace it. I refused because of the time 30 mins there another 20 min wait and another 30 back ...a waste of my time. And by this time by anger wasn't towards the mistake it was from the rude disrespect I got from both owner and employee and that they continued to tell me how I was wrong. Not going to lie, the food there is great ! But the way they handled this situation makes me not want to go back and I won't ! It was an honest mistake, own up to it, no need to argue with the customer especially after it's been determined (as pictured) they were in the wrong. read more

Never again! First time here. Hubby order beef mangalian it came out quick it was pretty good but plain. I order chicken general tso it tasty like old chicken fried twice covered in a red honey sauce. GROSS! They give you enough rice to feed a 2 year old child! Price are very high for what you get $12 and $13 bucks. I did not enjoy my meal but the waiter never asked how was the food and never came over to give us a refill we let very disappointed! read more

Stopped in here for lunch yesterday, had the Hot and Sour Soup and the Kung Pao Chicken. First of all, the waiters weren't Asian and didn't seem to know what was going on. I ordered a Tsingtao Beer and the waiter said they didn't have any, then came back and said they did, but I chalked that up to inexperience. The food was very good for the most part, but the Hot and Sour Soup didn't have very much tofu or mushrooms or that type of thing, just broth. Very tasty, though. The Kung Pao Chicken was really good, too. The lunch menu is very extensive, so I'll probably try this place again. The overall experience, though, wasn't as satisfying as some of the other nearby Chinese Restaurants. read more

Came here on the recommendation of a coworker and ordered curry fried rice and a noodle dish to go. When I got home, I tried to enjoy my food but the excess of chili flakes and jalapeño peppers was way more spice than I expected--this coming from someone that LOVES jalapeño peppers, chili flakes, and other hot spices in his food!--almost to the point of being inedible. In the future, I will ask and be more careful about spice levels and perhaps you should too. Not too sure I will return for a second round of burn-my-mouth-ageddon. read more

This place has a brisk take-out business. My family has been ordering food from here for probably more than a decade. The sesame chicken is our favorite: The sauce is sweet; the chicken is tender. If you ask them, they will do a sesame shrimp, even though it is not on the menu. I've only eaten in the restaurant a few times, but they have a nice dining room with good service. This is a solid Chinese food restaurant. Lunch special is a great deal, including soup, egg roll, fried rice and entree for $6.50. Be sure to snack on their fresh crispy noodles with duck sauce, they are better than most other chinese restaurants.When I get take-out for dinner, I usually go a la carte, because I am a pork fried rice aficionado, and when you order it separately, it shines. Large cuts of pork dominate the dish. The General Tso's chicken rates an 8 out of 10, but be sure to ask for extra spicy, as their brown sauce is a bit sweet. Yum! Ordered take out from here for the first time and was very pleased with my shrimp and vegetables. The price was reasonable, food was tasty and hot, shrimp were big, and I was able to pick it up within 10 minutes of ordering it. first time here. I like the tilework inside very pretty. the generals chicken was great. it was crispy, but it was not as spicy as I would like. the egg drop soup was ok. For over 8 years of living in America, I can certainly say it's the worse Americanized Chinese restaurant me and my family ever been to! I am an Asian and I know I need to lower my expectations when it comes to Chinese food in America but this is the one you shouldn't even thought of trying! We did today but were extremely disappointed.All the dishes we ordered were 20 times saltier than PF Chang's ( which is a chain) and we could not continue to eat because everyone's dish was just salt and brown sauce, no flavors! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I found a roach leg in my food and the manager claimed it was a "mushroom" even though my meal didn't contain mushrooms. I ordered shrimp fried rice with a side a broccoli. My server said it would be $1 more for broccoli. When I received my meal, 4 pieces of broccoli was mixed in to the rice. When I asked if this was all the broccoli I would get, my server said yes. I would only get 4 pieces for $1. I tried to explain this unfairness to the woman at the register and she hastily explained she wasn't the owner and offered no other solution. I suspect she was the owner, but she just didn't want to hear my complaint. I won't go back to a restaurant that charges $1 for 4 pieces of broccoli!! If you like your Chinese vegetables cooked all day to the consistency of mush and you like your spicy brown sauce as sweet as soda pop, this is the place for you. They also skimped on the shrimp in the spicy shrimp with vegetables. There were just 4 or 5 tiny little shrimp mixed in with the sweet mucky vegetables. The spring rolls were mushy and greasy not crispy and the sweat and sour seafood soup was also loaded with sugar. I have eaten Chinese food in Singapore, Hong Kong, London, Rome, Cologne and many places here in the USA and I must say this is by far the worst I have ever eaten. We got take-out and If I was not so hungry I would have flushed it all down the toilet after a single taste, as it is I only flushed half of it. read more

Menu contained all the common Americanized Chinese dishes - Sesame Chicken, General Tso, etc. Staff spoke and understood English well. But I was personally disappointed. I ordered Beef Ho Fun with Black Bean Sauce. This is a Cantonese dish, very hard to find on the East Coast. The noodles came out in a generous quantity and was tasty. But it was a chili-bean paste in the sauce - Hunan style. Like ordering Greek salad and being served a wedge salad instead. Close, but not what was expected. read more

If you're looking for quick Chinese take out, this is a good option. I have never personally eaten inside, and I wouldn't suggest it. The restaurant is pretty small and there's always hardly any people there. The staff seemed friendly and double checked that my take out order had everything it was supposed to have inside my bag. This was a huge plus for me because I can't tell you how many times I have walked away from getting take out with the wrong order. The chicken and broccoli was pretty good. They give you a lot of food, and definitely don't skimp on the veggies. There was too much brown sauce for my liking, and it felt the chicken was swimming in a pool of sauce. I ordered an egg roll and the egg drop wonton soup as well. The egg roll was crispy, but didn't have much filling inside. The soup was tasty and still hot by the time I got home! For a last minute easy take out dinner option, I would certainly suggest orient garden. Do not go here to dine in though and expect top of line Chinese food. read more

The food is on the more delicious end of pretty standard Chinese food fare, but I love that it doesn't have a fast foody feel (rare at this price point for Chinese food). Very mediocre Chinese restaurant in the Durham area. My family and I were looking for a standard Chinese restaurant and we stumbled upon this on Yelp and it received 4 stars which is way too high. It is only 2.5-3 and the only reason I did not give it a 2 was because it was clean and the staff were friendly. Food as way oversauced and salty and standard dishes such as broccoli and beef, did not taste like or resemble other restaurants. The general tso chicken is very good. Good flavor and very crispy batter. The sesame fried tofu is also really good. It's hard to find crispy chicken. At most chinese restaurants, the sauce is runny or the batter is too bready. This is not your typical cheap and cheerful strip mall Chinese place. It's trying to be a slightly fancier sit down affair, with slightly higher prices and somehow much worse food. Worst of all, it is deathly silent in here. It's so awkward, I'm sitting here having to listen to some stranger right behind me chewing and clearing his throat. I want to jump out of my skin. Agony. True agony. It's like I'm on a secret camera show and they're timing me to see how long before I throw down a ten dollar bill and run screaming from this place. At one point, a guy from the kitchen came out into the dining room, TOOK HIS SHOES OFF, and laid down across two chairs. WTF??? If this were a dumpy counter joint with decent little $5 buckets of food, I wouldn't have even flinched, but this place is pretending to be all fancy table service. I've eaten from Orient Garden several times over the years. I almost always get the same thing: sesame chicken. Every place seems to do sesame chicken differently, and this is no exception. Theirs is a soy/honey sauce that's quite sweet and delicious. I'd also say the chicken is sliced with more refinement, and it's fried so that it has just the right light, crispy coating. I'd recommend you eat in if you get that, since it can lose some of the crispiness if you get it to go. Other than that, I think their hot and sour soup ranks highly... as in it's in my top 3 favorites for the area (with #1 being at Shanghai, also in Durham). Their lunch prices are great. You pay more for dinner, but you get enough for a couple of meals. I haven't had any problems with the service either. I've also tried their lo mein and spring rolls, which were tasty, but I wouldn't say either of them knocked my socks off. Overall, I'd say this place does a much better-than-average job, with a unique take on sesame chicken that's worth trying. read more
