Best spot for quick, reliable Chinese and Japanese food, as well as a fast delivery service if you're in the area. "Bang for your buck" applies here! Always have leftovers and never spend too much. I'm a bit of a sushi snob, but I do enjoy their sushi lunch special for $9 that gets me 2-salmon avocado rolls (not Oishii but way better than most sushi joints in town). Also a fan of their chicken wing appetizer; nothing asian about em, they're just good ole greasy fried chicken wings. They have a large menu so it's easy to suit any preferences. Personally I like their General Tso's (not spicy like indicated), and their crab Rangoon, egg rolls, and gyoza are good, but on par. Their fried rice is what you'd expect, however they do offer some nice options to upgrade as your side for any entree like chicken, shrimp, pork fried rice. I do give it 5 stars for convenience! You can order online, and if in their delivery zone, they're insanely fast no matter what time or day of the week I order. I am SO glad Oriental Cafe is open again. I have missed my sushi & egg drop soup. I've been a big fan of OC since I moved to Louisville, they deliver, great prices, and the food never lets me down. I get the 3 roll sampler (~$15 for three rolls = dinner and lunch the next day) My favorite rolls are the spicy tuna and Philadelphia, but I like to get something new for my third roll, this time I tried the sunrise roll and it was very good! I don't usually go for tempura sushi but I would get that again. Sesame chicken was also very good, tons of food for a very reasonable price. This restaurant is 100% my favorite place to go for Asian food. Food is always quick to be ready and piping hot. They always give me a box so my food is easier to carry. Condiments are out for you take take as many as you'd like as well. The ambiance is very casual and it's a smaller joint, but that makes it charming. Oriental Cafe used to be one of my favorite places to stop on my way to work. I would call ahead, and they would have it waiting for me, or ready in just a minute or two. No easy way to put it, I found a fly in my fried wontons. It had been wrapped and prepared as part of the filling. Disgusted, I threw everything out and refuse to go back. This was so disappointing as many co-workers had been ordering from them as well. While their current health code violation does not list this issue (3rd Qtr 2019), I can't help but think that other issues may be present. read more

Not too shabby. I came during lunch and ordered the lunch special, beef and broccoli with chow mein. Decent portion it definitely filled me up. I also ordered the wontons. Not that great to be honest. The flavor was lacking but they do make it fresh which is pretty cool. The amount of broccoli they put in there was nice. The interior was nice and the service was quick and friendly, but what saved this from being a 2 star review were the steamed dumplings. They were so fresh and delicious I wish I had just ordered them as my dinner, instead of the sesame chicken. This dish was essentially a dessert it was so sweet and gummy, and no amount of doctoring with mustard and soy sauce could fix it. Also 90% of the sushi selections were that type that are fried, or with cream cheese or a ton of sauce - what I view as a violently American take on the cuisine. So basically if this is the kind of Chinese/Japanese food you like you will love it here. The rest of us, come for the dumplings but save your cravings for elsewhere. read more

I am truly thankful for this hole in the wall! My banker recommended it to me. I was hesitant to this spot with my previous experiences at other Chinese businesses across the country. However, the service, kindness, and flavor blew me away! I now prefer Oriental Cafe over Jade Palace (only spot next to Joy Luck that I will attend). Our first visit was a few minutes before close. We were going to leave after finding out their hours, but they were so kind to tell us to stay! The service was speedy as a racer. And the prices are inexpensive as can be! First visit and won't be the last. A nice, clean little place for Chinese take-away that does have some seating available inside and plenty of parking. I brought home General's Chicken for Mrs. M and Beef Fries Rice for me. We also shared a small Egg Drop Soup. The chicken was very good, a flavorful spicy, but not oppressively hot. Definitely a 5/5 on that one. The fried rice was okay, nothing really special so 3/5 for that. The soup was okay, sort of bland really so a 3/5 on that one too. We've have ordered from this establishment for going on 7 or so years now, decent chinese food at a decent price, so the near hour wait time for delivery was tolerable. But over the past couple years the issues have just added up, to now. Every so often you will go on their website and place an order, and when checking out you will receive a confirmation and an order number after paying. Little do you know that if the restaurant is too busy at the time, your order will conveniently get "lost" or "not show up". Tonight this happened to my husband and I, and after over an hour of waiting when we called, one of their employees looked up our address and told us that we are too far away(3.5 miles) for them to deliver... Since we've been ordering from them for the past 7 years we knew this was incorrect. Upon saying this the woman apologized and my husband hung up. When I called back to inquire further, the employee ended up telling me that they in fact do deliver to us, but because they had "about 30 orders waiting now" that the distance(3.5 miles) was too far for them to deliver. When I asked her why she lied to me to begin with, she scrambled saying she didn't lie that she said what someone else had relayed to her, but in fact knew all along the real reason. I went on to ask why the orders they had now mattered when I had placed the order and received confirmation over an hour ago. She continued to inform me that she has no control over the website and has no idea whether its working or not because it is ran out of china. I asked her what the other customers placing orders on their website without knowing they will never get their food are supposed to do? She couldn't answer this. She told me that if I wanted to place my order now that they could deliver it but that it would take an hour or more before it arrived, I told her no of course because i had already waited over an hour from my first purchase, which she reminded me they never got. I informed her that she needed to be truthful upfront rather than lie, and that she would lose our business, and any other business we recommended to them (7 years of recommendations). read more

If I would have known, we would have just taken the food home and met our friends there instead. And upon noon opening, the inside temperature was 52 degrees. Vegetarian options are limited. We had the vegetable fried rice and the hibachi vegetables. Large portions. The 'side salad' comes from a bag of lettuce with a few carrot shreds. I recommend trying the egg roll instead (but don't know how good that is since we didn't try them). We probably won't be back as there are better dine-in options. Our favorites are the honey chicken, the hibachis, and Singapore Curry. We also often get an order of crab rangoons. Let me tell you, I usually don't like these, but I think the freshness and of these have won me over. Honestly we've never had anything less than scrumptious here. Another plus, each order always makes two meals at least for us, which is amazing! My bf is very picky on chinese food and he only eats sweet and sour chicken and French fries, he never nodded his head and said "good" to any other Chinese food delivery if I asked him "hows ur food" but he did it to the sweet and sour chicken and steamed rice from Oriental Cafe delivery. Along with Oriental House, Ling Ling, and Great Wall, it's one of my four favorite Asian restaurants in the city. We ordered take out and it arrived in a timely manner. It was delicious, hot, and plentiful. The chicken lo mein (6.95 for a Quart) was prepared perfectly. The sauce was amazing. It was full of onions, carrots, & peppers. Noodles were cooked just right. The shrimp fried rice ($4.25 for a pint) was full of plump shrimp and had the best flavor of take out fried rice I've had. The snow crab roll ($5.50) was just as good as the higher priced sushi spots. We WILL be back for more!! read more

For my wife and I, this is our go to place when it comes to Chinese/Japanese cuisine. I have gone in more than once to place my to go order and found that everyone was friendly and courteous. Whether I called ahead, or ordered in the store, it has always been a shorter than told wait time AND was always exactly what I asked for. My most recent order was actually done through their website. I found that the website was easy to figure out and the delivery guy came extremely fast with my perfect order! After being told previously their healthy entrees were vegetarian, a lady working there informed us recently that the sauces were made with chicken broth, right before my wife was hung up on mid sentence. The spring rolls are solid and the ginger dressing is awesome. The salad is very simple but the dressing makes it sweet and addictive. The donuts make a great dessert. "Better than Sake Blue" fast food! We came because of a friends recommendation for good food and great prices. The place is smaller but trust me, the phone never stops ringing. That's a good sign. We ordered three rolls and a side of hibachi steak with white rice, and 2 drinks for a total of $30. That's such a steal. My boyfriend and I are such big eaters and that was enough to take home some.
