We're new in town & I eat mostly plant based, so when our house purchase got delayed & we were stuck living in hotels for a couple of weeks - I was desperate for some tasty, fresh, nutritious veg dishes that were more filling than just salad. Oriental House sounded great, but most reviews were 4+ years old which made me hesitant. We are so glad we ordered here! The green curry was loaded with flavor, with plenty of delicious veggies & tofu. We also got vegetable fried rice & it was so good we ordered it again the very next day when we were eating with friends. I ordered shrimp & vegetables for my young kids, & instead of bribing them to eat some veggies, they wolfed it down! The vegetables were insanely fresh & deliciously flavored. Service was weird. Our waiter was also the cook and the owner. He was the only person running the whole establishment. We ordered the sesame chicken, lemon chicken and the chicken chow mein. We also took home the dragon sushi rolls. Let me get back to the meals before I comment on the sushi. The chicken both lemon and sesame was covered in a weird hush puppies like batter that had a sweet taste to it. The better was so think I couldn't even find the chicken and it tasted like pancake butter. Not what I am looking for in Asian cuisine. The tofu in my hot and sour soup was holey and tough. I wasn't even sure it was tofu. The chow mein was good but it reminded me more of thai food noodles mixed with Chinese noodles so it tasted slightly off to my palette. Now on to the sushi. I will give the dragon roll itself an A+ the dragon roll was perfect and to my expectation but the Wasabi was mild at best and didn't give me the heat I am accustomed to. In fact it had no heat at all. I could eat the Wasabi palm by itself and wouldn't get one tear in my eye. So if you like that heat you will be very disappointed if you can't handle the heat it will suit you just fine. Over all I cant give it a very good review and I wont be back. Sorry. read more

The chicken pine nuts lettuce wrap was amazing! We needed more lettuce than what they gave us but we also ordered several rolls. Not a big fan that the salmon is smoked in some of the rolls. And the spicy yellowtail didn't taste spicy or like yellowtail. Besides that they tasted just fine. I ordered two orders of the salmon sashimi and when our server gave us that plate she didn't know how to pronounce sashimi and stumbled over the word. Not that I'm a grammar nazi or anything but it made me uncomfortable knowing they probably weren't ordered very much and it showed when I received them. Fantastic Asian food! We stayed in Scottsbluff for one night and was amazed by the authentic Asian food and the super friendly staff. Mapao tofu was very delicious. There is a secret menu. I would high recommend the oriental house. It's a must-visit for anyone who is passing by. read more

This is the second time I've been here. The first time was decent, but now 2 years later it has gone downhill. I had squid salad as an appetizer -- it was extremely fishy and tasted old and dry. Then I ordered their Pad Thai, which I requested to be seasoned with their hottest spice (they call it "Thai hot"). There was NO spiciness at all. Not only that it, was bland. About the only thing I could taste were the peanuts! I tried some sushi and it was acceptable (it wasn't fishy) but it did need some sort of "oomph" in the flavor department. My children had the pork and shrimp lo mein, which was just ok. Nothing spectacular. As a positive, our waitress was very helpful and pleasant. read more

Although I wish I could make this a good review, I cannot grant the pleasure. The last time I had been to my local Oriental house I had a massive allergic reaction. My lips swelled like Angelina Jolie! The reason I believe is to blame is passive germs, the sushi I had ordered had great flavor but was crawling with passed germs. The reason? I was lucky enough to eat at the Oriental House last week with a friend. I've always been a fan of Wonderful House, to the point that I swear they put crack in their food, because I can't think about it without having to eat it that day! But my friend and I were having lunch and she suggested the Oriental House. I'm not a picky eater. And it just so happened a different friend had raved about the Oriental House that same week. So we arrived at the Oriental House at noon on an overcast day that couldn't decide if it was going to rain or snow. I needed some hot tea - STAT! We were promptly greeted and seated, and presented with 3 different menus. Yep, I said that. 3 different menus! Oh my goodness! The tea warmed me from my toes on up and my friend suggested a big bowl of Wonton soup. It was served in a large bowl with a ladle to serve out home style. I was charmed! The soup was tasty, but a little on the bland side. I still enjoyed it and it was not too salty, my biggest peeve about a lot of Asian soups. Ok. After looking at a million Chinese entrees I moved to the Thai menu. 4 different curries, pad Thai, etc. I wanted to try everything! But then I looked at the menu for sushi and sashimi. It's one piece of paper on which you mark your order and it's given to the sushi bar. My friend and I decided on the house rolls (8 pieces) and the AAC rolls (8 pieces). House rolls had good rock shrimp, avocado, cucumber. Fab! AAC rolls had avocado, asparagus, cucumber. Fresh! I loved everything so much I honestly had to go back yesterday for takeout sushi! I ordered the Spider roll, but was told they didn't have soft shell crab this week. I live in the hinterlands of Nebraska! I get it. Instead I ordered the Unagi roll...eel w/cucumber and avocado. So yummy! And, of course, once I got home I had to fight off 3 obese cats who screamed at me to share. No chance, fatsos! I can't wait to try all the sushi and sample some sashimi, and I hope to try all of their other dishes. If a restaurant can do this well with fish in the center state of the nation I'm sure I'll enjoy everything else they have. The prices were extremely reasonable and I saw from other diners' plates the portions are HUGE. Our server was cheerful and competent. The restaurant was clean and had a nice decor. Went here on a whim because it was across the street from our hotel. I was a little skeptical because of the variety of the menu (Thai! Chinese! Sushi!), and pan-Asian restaurants usually deliver mediocre dishes of each cuisine. So happily surprised! Hands down, the best Thai yellow curry I have ever had. We came here inadvertently - oh, we're probably not gonna eat here, but, well, we did. And were glad of it. I had tasty Thai food, she had Chinese. We were both happy with our lunches. They have reasonable-quality bubble tea (boba Tea) here also. The sushi looked good too, but we didn't try it. Hey, I'm on a roll now! - haven't had bad food in the last several restaurants. We went there on Maech 29, 2014, because it was highly recommended. I am very allergic to shell fish but was told tht I had to pay extra for any substitutions. Instead of egg rolls I wanted spring rolls and they charged me $2 extra. The soup was good but the rest of the meal was mediocre. There were four tables of customers but it took 45 minutes to get our food. The female wait staff served her table 20 minutes earlier than the male wait staff served our food and we were seated a few minutes prior. Our food was somewhat lacking in flavor and I had the pineapple chicken andit was cold. He said he couldn't help that because it was served in a half a pineapple. we won't be gong back. read more

I cannot speak of the sushi as I do not eat sushi, but the Szheuan tofu was really good. Nicely spicy and flavorful. We had to add a little soy sauce, but hey, that comes with it of course! The spring rolls are the only vegetarian appetizer but they also have a bit of pepper (black pepper in this case) and were great, hot, stuffed full of veggies, and nicely crispy. The fried rice comes with meat but if you ask they will make a vegetarian version for you (I had to get Google translate to help but that solved it)! The proprietors are very friendly and I plan to r. It is a little harder to find than China House but it is well worth the extra effort. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not exactly a connoisseur of sushi but I've eaten enough of it to know that the Oriental House makes it really well and that this is definitely the place to go for sushi in Scotts Bluff. Granted, it may be the ONLY place to go for sushi within a 200 mile radius but that despite the lack of competition, this place still holds itself to a high standard which is good to see. If you're more of a fan of standard Chinese fare, those options are also available but since I've only eaten sushi here, I can only say that the the meal portions look generous and that friends of mine have been happy with their orders. One should be aware that there is usually only one sushi chef on duty so if you have a larger party who all orders sushi, be prepared to wait for a little while. So even though the Oriental House puts many different food cultures under one umbrella, the lack of specialization does not distort the focus on really good food. read more

I have been eating at the Oriental House for years as it is my favorite Chinese/Japanese/Sushi restaurant in Scottsbluff. This is my go to place when I'm looking forward to food I love and awesome bar drinks. We were unable to go to Oriental House for months due to it being closed and being up in the area at the wrong time. When we finally were able to go we were super excited. This is my favorite restaurant to go on a date. The lighting is awesome, it's quite with a good atmosphere. Once seated we noticed two new waitress were working. I will assume that they were being somewhat trained. I order a Zombie bar drink which is my favorite and usually made very well. This one was made blended with no flavor at all when the drink shouldn't be blended to begin with. She admitted that she had never made the drink before however if she would look on the menu the ingredients are listed. We also noticed that a few tables arrived several minutes after we did. We saw THESE people being served their food way before ours was served. I am not very impressed with the new service and hope it gets better. I do recommend people to gives this restaurant a try. The food is excellent and great atmosphere. Just dont have high expectations on service. read more
