Better options that aren't over priced! Love the Korean steak bowl with extra veggies!

This was the worst ChopShop experience I have ever had. I brought a business partner to lunch as it's one of my favorite places and they told us it would be a 30min wait for the food to come out which I was more than happy to wait. Our food took over an hour to come out with little communication and after asking 6 different times for an estimate. We had to take the food to go and they did not apologize once!! They gave us the food and thought a $5 off coupon was enough of a resolution to the complete disregard for customers time. The food tasted great but was not worth the wait or horrendous service!! Would not recommend going at lunch or to this location! read more

I absolutely love Chopshop. Especially when I'm trying to get back into shape and eat cleaner this option is perfect. It's right down the street from orange theory which is nice because after a late workout I can walk a few steps to chopshop and get a protein bowl. The sweet potato hash is also super good. It has a very earthly and clean ambiance to it. The workers are so nice and welcoming everytime I come. Soemtimes it can take awhile for the bowls to come out but other than that it's one of my favorite food places in tempe! read more

I have been at this restaurant before, but now I finally found a couple entrees I like. I had the grilled protein bowls and didn't find them to be to my liking. I had the teriyaki chicken bowl once and the green curry tofu bowl once. Now that I have eaten the chicken and kale sandwich, I've fallen in love with it. The flavors were great, the chicken was moist, and I enjoyed it very much. I will have to always get this particular entree unless I find some other entree I like. Or, I get tired of having the same entree over and over again. I like that the entree is light and healthy. The outside patio area is nice in the fall and early spring. I've also tried the slim squeeze fresh juice and it was ok. I think I'll have to to something else. The juice separated in the cup and I'm not sure it was suppose to do that. This place is delicious! Everything is nutritious, fresh, and made with love. The food is made with consideration of sodium intake, and other conscientious efforts to ensure the one's health isn't compromised, rather enhanced. The ambience throughout the restaurant including the outside patio and the inside dining area is very zen. All of the employees are the sweetest things, kind, helpful, and friendly. Visiting the Original ChopShop, the stakes were high. I had told a coworker that I had my monthly brunch date here with a girlfriend, what did he recommend. Coolly, I was told, "Go for the Cheat Day Wrap and the PB&J shake. The Original ChopShop is literally my favorite". Well then. I looked both items up on their online menu and reading the descriptions, I wasn't blown away to be honest. Everything looked so healthy and well, I just wanted a decadent pancake but with the stakes this high, I guess I was locked in. Skeptical, I walked in around 11AM on a Sunday, expecting an overwhelming crowd of post-gym college girls, showing me up with their insane metabolism and on-trend workout gear, and while there wasn't an overwhelming crowd of them, the place definitely did cater to the health-conscious. Acai bowls and smoothies aplenty, I asked our cashier for his recommendations. He was suuper friendly and gave me 2-3 options to choose from from each category, be it a smoothie, breakfast item, sandwich, or bowl. He even apologized for giving me way too many options to choose from but honestly, I'm glad he did. I wound up with the Cheat Day Wrap, subbing out the brown rice for sweet potatoes - I had to go for my coworker's recommendation after all, and my girlfriend got the Thai Coconut Chicken bowl. Both were winners, hands-down. Filling, healthy (or at least I'd like to think so), and I hate to admit this, but a refreshing change from the decadent brunch that I usually crave. I'm told I need to get the PB&J shake next - even our cashier seconded this but with that healthy wrap, I'm not gonna l lie, I was feeling pretty proud of the healthy start to my Sunday and decided to treat myself to boba instead. Lots of options for all dietary needs, everything healthy but still DELICIOUS. I got the Brekkie, a sandwich with provolone, bacon, scrambled egg, and pesto. Soooo good. The girl working the register recommended it to me and she did not lead me wrong! The only critic I have is that both times I went here, it was too hot inside. Came here for lunch. Not too busy on a Sunday. They have a dirt parking lot. Inside is pretty cozy and hipster. Good music selection. Cashier and waiter were nice and friendly. Good hangout place if you're coming here just to get some drinks or smoothies. I came for the food, I got the spicy Korean steak. Just the bowl plus tax total $11.89. On the pricey side, but expected for a hipster place. The bowl came with cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, the steak and sesame seeds. I added on the option of brown rice. Not too impressed with the spicy steak. It tasted more like a beef stew type of steak. Definitely not spicy and no Korean influence tasted in the flavor. Brown rice was chewy, it's the short style brown rice. Edible, but not my favorite, but you can choose a different auction instead of brown rice. read more

I love that they offer healthy food options here! Protein shakes, fresh juices, superfruit bowls and parfaits. I came here specifically to try their acai bowl and it was pretty good. For $7.25, you get Acai blended with apple juice, mixed berry, banana, topped with granola, strawberry, banana, shredded coconut, agave nectar. It was cool and delicious. I still prefer the more concentrated acai puree, but can't seem to find any in the area. Cold brew coffee 16oz $4 - I think it's great they had honey and agave sweetener as options. There's a small parking lot right next to the restaurant, but you have to access it through the back alley. There were plenty of spots left when I came on a weekday morning. Had a really good meal here the other day! It's an adorable little spot with great outdoor seating as well. They have a ton of healthy options for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I got the Thai coconut chicken bowl with sweet potato base. The sauce was really delicious and it was very filling and satisfying. I got the Korean steak bowl, and it was good, but 1- the vegetables felt dry and 2- I wish they mixed all the ingredients before serving it instead of serving it all stratified. The bowl was fine, but the only interesting part of the meal was the actual steak that was marinated really well. Otherwise, it was a standard little bowl, which was filling, but I don't think was worth $14! Also, parking is a nightmare, so prepare to park farther and walk here. While I was in Arizona, my mom, an Arizonian native, recommended this place for breakfast. So my family and I trekked down from our hotel near ASU to the Original Chop Shop. The place was super cute and trendy and served a wide variety of food. The outside seating area had lights strung around, which could be seen lit up even in broad daylight. The girl at the counter was nice and smiled at us while we ordered our food. The wait for the three meals was kind of long, but we had all the time in the world to eat. My parents and I each ordered something different, but the one that I ordered was the avocado toast. Honestly, I have never had avocado toast in my life before this experience, which would be strange to some people considering that I am the same age as avocado toast lovers. The toast came slightly crunchy, with an over easy egg and tomatoes. Oh, and they did NOT skimp out on the avocado. Honestly, the toast was SO good and made me a true fan of avocado toast. The place that took my avocado toast virginity, and turned me into an avocado toast addict. I have been craving avocado toast, but I am nervous it won't live up to the expectations that The Original Chop Shop set for me. My parents both enjoyed their breakfasts as much as me, and finished theirs all quickly with no complaints. Overall, if you have the time to sit down and eat, I would recommend this place because the wait for the food might be long. I love that they offer such healthy delicious options. Every time I go in I have the chili lime shrimp bowl and it's so good every single time. There is always enough shrimp the veggies could be on the softer side but they still have a great taste. The sauce that is used is super yummy :) The restaurant is located in a busy area so get ready to fight with traffic and students. Also the parking lot is a bit hard to find because there really isn't enough signage to guide you to their parking lot so the first time I ended up paying for parking silly me. The word accommodating doesn't even begin to describe how amazing this location has been to me. I'm traveling from out of state for a bodybuilding competition, and have placed several orders that are out of the norm- requesting egg whites only, several brown rice sides etc. Every single individual I've spoken with on the phone has been absolutely incredible in terms of making sure I've been helped 100%. I've placed several orders over the past few days, and only one of which didn't get delivered by a third-party delivery service. I called back and not only did they refund the order, they had it delivered personally by their staff!! Heather, Cassie, Sav, Michael, and Andrew (are the names I remember and I probably spoke to more) but all I can say is WOW. The service, the quality, the genuine integrity of each individual at this location is OUTSTANDING. If I lived here, this location would be an absolute regular spot for me. So I am a huge fan of Chop Shop. This cute little restaurant has an excellent menu selection full of healthy options. This place is vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free friendly. I have tried their protein bowls, grilled steak sandwich, club sandwich , and multiple salads, I have never been let down. Their juice options are where it's at! There Slim Squeeze juice is the BEST! This place is great. It can get busy and their parking lot gets full quickly, so watch out for that since it's on the ASU campus. Their menu has lots of options and they're good about substituting which is cool. Everything I've ordered I've enjoyed, and there's still more to try since I've never gotten anything on their breakfast menu. The employees are always nice and they're efficient at getting orders out in a timely manner. I haven't been to their Old Town location since this is the one that's more central to my east valley friends, but I'd like to try it since it's closer to my house. I've been to ChopShop a few times in the past but wanted to try something new. Came during slower hours and Lauren, Emilyanne, and Claire helped me pick out some menu items I wouldn't normally try. They were very helpful and added to the pleasant experience. I really enjoyed the Chicken Prosciutto Sandwich despite being hesitant about how the fig mostarda and dijon would pair but it was fantastic - very filling. My favorite new find in Tempe? The Original ChopShop Co! I don't know how this place has eluded me since it's opening in February, but I found this "diamond in the rough" that is Mill Ave (amongst the bars and burger joints).The restaurant was founded on the belief that you CAN eat healthy on-the-go "without sacrificing fresh, memorable flavors or affordability" which I may have previously doubted, but after trying ChopShop I'm a BELIEVER! After trying a refreshing fresh pressed juice last week for the first time, I was excited to return and check out the lunch menu. The reviews on Yelp and photos just seemed too good to be true. Could such a place really exist? After trying the lunch menu, I would say yes - it's THAT good! I had the Tofu Teriyaki Bowl ($7) and a small seasonal Lemonade ($2). My friend had the Kale Caesar with Chicken ($9) and an Arnold Palmer. Both dishes were incredibly flavorful and the drinks were refreshing. The portions were quite generous and we both had leftovers for that we could look forward to for later. In case you're wondering what Forbidden Rice is, like I was, let me share what I learned. No, they're not being cheeky by calling it "forbidden" - there is such a thing. According to LotusFoods (rice distributor), Forbidden Rice provides the richest nutritional value, providing a higher level of vitamins, minerals and fiber of any bran rice, as well as a comprehensive range of amino acids, proteins, vegetable fats and essential trace elements needed by the body. Now, you know! As others have noted, the ambiance both inside and outside of the restaurant is relaxed, comfortable, and urban chic. I visited Arizona for the first time about a month ago and I went to the Original Chop Shop the second day on our trip. I got the Thai Coconut Chicken bowl with quinoa and it was SO GOOD! It was fresh, healthy and so full of flavor! I also had the pitaya bowl and that was amazing too. We went back to the Original Chop Shop two more times in the 6 days that we were there.
