I hadn't been back to Pita Bistro since it opened about nine years ago, so I thought I'd give it another try. The service was prompt and friendly and the restaurant was neat and clean. The menu has had some changes and the prices have noticeably increased. I ordered the "Create Your Own Salad". Before you place your order (for any entree) be sure they have what's on the menu. The protein was the last item offered in the "assembly line ". Only at this point was I told they only had (chopped) chicken or gyro meat. So much for the kabob I hoped for. No other proteins were available, either. The vegetables and hummus were all fresh, but the chicken was dry and seemed like it was prepared much earlier in the day. Considering the salad, regular drink, tax and tip was over $22.00, I was not entirely pleased. A competitor down the street has similar offerings for about 1/2 the price. I hope Pita Bistro can ensure they have all menu items available in the future and that chicken is served juicy, not dry. read more

I've eaten here sooooo many times and I can't believe I hadn't already written a review. Ain't gonna lie, I love Mediterranean food and this place is one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITES!!! Love love love their bowls and pretty much everything they have is dee-frickin-lishhh!!! Give it a try! They get real busy around lunch time. Typically I get take out for those nights where you just don't feel like cooking. I've never ever been disappointed with anything from this restaurant: the hummus, lentils, pickled veggies, rice, falafel, toum, every single thing including the pita is fresh and full of flavor. This once was one of my favorite places for a healthy dinner, but the prices are through the roof and everything is watered down. I had a "build your own" bowl with chicken. Added some lentils, lettuce, and other toppings. The flavors just aren't there. Even their signature PB dip was watery and flavorless. The chicken was dry and also lacked flavor. This was my first (and last) visit to this place. Food was not at all tasty. My guess is that they wanted to create a service such like Chipotle so you can create your own bowl with ingredients, but everything was very tasteless and bland. I had their Gyros bowl, which is served with some Humus at the bottom of the bowl, some lettuce on top and then rice and some typical fixings. Then I picked Gyros meat as protein topping which was super dry and has been sitting around for a while. Aside from the meat, I couldn't taste the flavor of anything. Even the 1/2 pita bread that comes with it was cold and tasteless. The seating is very much like a fast-food place, some clean tables and some dirty tables. People were cleaning their own tables and not once I saw any staff to do the cleaning. Lastly, I ordered a small soda with my meal. When I went to the fountain, the Diet Coke syrup was out and it was just dispensing soda water. I informed the person behind the counter and she was a bit frazzled but said she'll take care of it. 20 minutes later I walked up to fill my soda and it was still out. I finally reverted to Iced Tea. As we were leaving some 60 minutes after the first time that I informed them, I decided to go and check to see if someone fixed the issue. It was still out. Bland food and poor service. I do like their food, but Door Dash is not their forte. I have given them a few chances and each time the order is incorrect. Mostly not getting the items I ordered and pay extra for such as Pita Bread or Pita Chips. This was my second time eating here within about a years time! I really love this place. The inside and outside of the restaurant are very clean, and the inside is vibrant. The workers at the front counter were very nice! I ordered a chicken shawarma bowl. It was $13.50, but you can put pretty much anything that they can fit in the bowl! The items I got in it were... chicken, yellow rice, lentils, garlic paste, jalapeño hummus, Chipotle hummus, regular hummus, beets, and half of a pita bread! Delicious!!! All the flavors came together so beautifully! To wash it down, I had an ice Gold Peak green tea. My friend had a fountain soda, fries, and a wrap. He said it was great, too! Come and check them out! I really enjoyed my pita bowl! The hummus was very good, and I was able to select from so many different items to get what I really enjoyed. I like the chicken Shawarma, it was delicious. Came here for a quick light dinner before a flight. I ordered the Greek salad with falafel. I wasn't in a rush, however, for 4 people working and only one order in, I am not sure what took them so long. It's an OK place for a fast lunch even though it's slightly expensive. Server was very nice and friendly. Food was just okay and for the price, $13.50 a bowl or 9.95 for a wrap, I think I could get better food. Many items were salty. My husband asked for the veggie falafel bowl but for some reason the girl asked him about gyro or Show. He ended up with gyro but no falafels. I didn't realize it until after we left or I would've said something immediately. I had a Mediterranean Chop salad with chicken Shawarma. The salad was good but too much liquid from the items added. Everything tasted very similar and the chicken was dry. In the food my husband recently the hummus bowl was bland and too many flavors blended to actually taste each. I will admit it wasn't very filling but we both selected to not include rice or lentils. Everything is already pre-cooked and ready on a line to be able to assembled fast. Think Chipotle's. Unfortunately, that causes a huge loss in the quality. Truly love Pita Bistro and it's fresh ingredients. I've been to this location about 6 times. I love the jalapeño cilantro hummus with mixed veggies and rice if they don't have rice, choose lentils - you won't be disappointed. The chicken shawarma is cooked and seasoned well. Raw chicken and sauce was thrown ALL over the food instead of in neat to go dipping cups. They never served their Bowls like this before and chicken was always cooked thoroughly. I recommend this place hands down. Its a chipotle style service with ALL THE FIXINS.. no uncharging for wanting a little bit of tabouli and greek salad.. just put what you want on the plate... Typically places want to charge separate for everything when in reality you just want a small spoonful. Ingredients super fresh! And they sell real spring water (FIJI). I hate when places sell Dasani or some other purified water... This is my new go to place... The space is very colorful and bright and they even have a bar... Cant complain at all. I went right at what I thought would be peak dinner time and there was no wait at all. There were a few people eating but the food is made right in front of you and there was plenty of places to sit. They were more then happy to give me the free check in pita chips and hummus The Greek fries were delicious and I highly recommend adding them to your order! Their food has been consistently good/fair over the years but over the last few visits their pricing has gotten so high that the quality of food isn't worth it. 20$ for hummus, lettuce and rice and a small drink is pushing it. Then to ask for a tip at check out on top of it at a restaurant where you stand in line, carry your own food, fill your own drink, clear your own table, and eat off of disposable paper bowls, forks, and cups is getting to be too much. I've given this place a couple tries and it's definitely worth checking out! There are not a ton of options near my work for a quick lunch besides fast food, so this is a nice to-go spot. The place is very clean and the employees have been very friendly both times. I've tried the chicken pita, which was super flavorful and the portion was huge for the price. It seems they typically add the sauces on top unless you specify otherwise in your order notes, so keep that in mind! I have also tried the build your own bowl which came out to almost $20 (I added extra protein, pita & tzatziki) so all considered, I would say its not the most inexpensive, but worth what you pay for. The sriracha chili hummus is amazing, and the lettuce is crisp as are the cucumbers. No soggy veggies here! :) My most recent online order didn't show up in their system for some reason, but it only took them a couple minutes (maybe less!) to make it for me. They were very kind and apologetic but it was no biggie. I'd recommend giving this place a try! read more

Love love love the Mediterranean salad bowl with the perfectly seasoned chicken topped with Feta

I needed a solid place to grab a bite for dinner. I looked for locations close to my restaurant, and saw Pita Bistro. I did a quick run through of their menu on Yelp, and knew I wanted rice and lentils in my meal. First decision made - the biggest battle was already won! I walked across the street from the hotel (yay traveling for work) and ducked into the restaurant. It was well lit, and almost empty. I read through the menu one more time, then walked up to the counter. I explained to the young lady working it was my first time, and I have some dietary restrictions - I'm gluten and dairy free. No problem, she said. Awesome! We immediately ruled out the wraps (wrapped in glutinous pita). So I zeroed in on the bowls. She quickly explained what on her table I could and couldn't eat. It was easier to build my own bowl and tailor it to what I wanted. Glad that was an option - second decision made! I started with the jalapeño/cilantro hummus. I then went with a combination of saffron rice and lentils (brown rice was also an option). She spread everything along the bottoms of the bowl, slowly building layers. From there, I added their Mediterranean mix - think a Mediterranean pico de gallo plus mint. I added more tomatoes, the garlic spread, whole cucumber slices, garbanzo beans, pickled beets, and the vinaigrette. Then I had my choice of chicken shawarma, chicken kabob, steak, or tofu. I asked to look at each, and decided tofu. It was such a good call! We skipped the extra slices of pita that normally come with a bowl. She rang me up, and for under $13, I had my meal and a drink. As I was leaving, I noticed they had what appeared to be a full bar - wine, liquor, beer. Good to know for future meals. I walked back to the hotel (like a 3 minute walk - super convenient, and way better than drive thru quality). Got up to my room, sat down, and dug in. I was so impressed by my meal! The tofu was cooked perfectly, and was very flavorful. The jalapeño and cilantro hummus had a kick to it, but wasn't too hot - it was the perfect balance of flavor to everything else. The lentils were a little more a dente than I prefer, but I understand the wisdom in slightly undercooking them than having mush while sitting on the steam table. I killed the entire bowl. The last few bites were overkill, but I couldn't let that deliciousness go to waste. The best thing was my meal was incredibly filling but not super dense. Even though I ate a lot, I didn't feel that heavy fullness that stays with you after certain types of food. It sounds like there is one other location in Phoenix. Such a bummer - I would totally patronize this business more often if there were a location in Denver, especially the DTC area (hint hint...think about Denver! read more

Food is great the ambiance was nice and clean but the service from one team member was not great she mentioned our food needed to be "to go" because they were going to begin closing. We had driven from Phoenix to enjoy a sit down meal and this employee decided we couldn't. Mind you we began building our bowls at 5:50pm and I politely asked her confused on how early they were closing what time they closed and she mentioned 6:30. We had no one infront of us and this employee was already kicking us out , other people stayed to eat however she asked us to leave.. not sure about that.
