Worst service ever!!! Ordered a mother of the bride dress, made a down payment.. Lady said will come in a less than a week, got a call more than a week later saying that they dont have it in that size.. Well we need a dress in a RiGhT size (duh!).. Then I asked for a refund, the Lady started making excuses.. Blah.. Blah.. Suddenly dress is available again.. In 2 weeks.. No no in 3 weeks.. Got into a big argument! I walked in here with my mother last weekend and wasn't too thrilled about it. Out of all the dresses they had, I only favored one and unfortunately the material wasn't good quality. The prices are great if you're on a budget, but I prefer quality over price any day. If you are more worried about budgeting, then you may want to stop by and take a look around. If you want dresses with good quality fabric, look elsewhere. One of the girls that works here approached us and asked if we needed help, we told her that we were looking for bridesmaid dresses and that we do not have a specific date, we only are looking to get ideas. She then asks us again, when is the wedding? Again, we told her that it is still undecided. A third time she asked, at this point I was a bit frustrated. This part of our initial conversation was in english. She then starts to conversate with me in spanish, after I clearly have been speaking to her in english. Though this may not be a problem for some, it was irritating for me. If I am speaking to you in english and you are replying in english, i'd really appreciate it if you'd keep the conversation going in english. If we were in Mexico, than this would be entirely different. When I told her that I was not fluent in spanish, she gave me somewhat of a disgusted look. I understand this store is located in an area that has many hispanic people such as myself, but we are in the United States and not 100% of people whom are Mexican-American speak fluent spanish. Don't waste your time and go here! The people are rude and unprofessional. The dresses are also very cheap material and over priced. I went in with a couple of friends looking for some dresses for a wedding and all the time we were there not one of their employees approached us. They were all standing around talking. I overlooked that and proceeded looking for a dress and while we were trying dresses on one of the ladies insulted one of the girls with me basically calling her fat. Totally uncalled for and rude. I would have said something but I did not want to cause a scene. My niece had to go to the restroom where I know they have some in the back because I used it there a few months back when my aunt purchased a dress and they told me they "didn't have any" to go to the hometown buffet next door and use it there. Wtf like are u serious!? We are about to drop a lot of money and we can't even use your restroom! Poor customer service. Please don't waste your time going there. Very helpful in the fitting rooms. They have reasonable prices for semi-formal-formal dresses. A lot of dresses have glitter/gem/sparkles on them. They have some that are just plain/silkly as well. They have a reward policy if you buy 4 dresses the fifth is half off, which can be accumulated over time. If you don't want that deal, they can give you a 10% off discount from each item if you buy more dresses at once. One star is knocked off for return policy which I believe they don't accept returns/exchanges. read more

My daughter bought an engagement dress from Original Dresses at 651 Palomar St. in Chula Vista. The price was very reasonable and the service was awesome. There were three ladies taking care of my daughter. They showed her many dresses and they gave her a high heel shoes because she was wearing her jeans and snickers when she went to buy the dress. The fitting room is large enough that the buyer doesn't feel she needs to leave it as soon as possible. The man on the cash was very friendly and he approved to hold the dress for a while. My daughter's wedding will be soon. We definitely are going to visit this store to rent the wedding dress because we found that they also rent wedding dresses and even some formal dresses. You can walk in and the ladies that work there, at best ignore you and some are just plain rude and condescending, especially those at the counter. I have been coming here for over two years now. I never leave empty-handed. One of the clerks there, Karla, is amazing! She is always so helpful and finds me the best dresses. She is also very comfortable to work with. I go here to buy dresses for engagement parties and weddings. They bring the dresses from LA, so you don't have to make the drive or wade through the Garment District. It's owned by a husband and wife, also both very friendly. Local business, you really can't go wrong. Some of the quality isn't the greatest (don't come here if you are looking to spend more than $300 for a dress). I come out of here with great, solid pieces in the $100 to $150 dollar range. If you are a plus size gal, this place is also great because they carry larger sizes (not in all the styles though).Their selection changes, so you have to come here often. read more

So I have been to this place for years for all type of dresses, and have always had okay experience with the "Managers/Owners" giving us an "okay, give me your money and leave" attitude. Their variety is good for one time dresses, and different styles and color variety is always good. UNTIL, I went in to look for a dress and i was stuck between two dresses. i set one on hold and gave money just in case while they called and checked on the second dress [the one i initially wanted]. I get a call back saying they dont have it and I was if they can give my money and blah blah excuse excuse. 10 minutes later the dress magically appears and they say they have it SKETCHY now they wont hold my first dress until while the other one comes.AND i am getting charged $7 for shipping which i dont mind. Besides the fact that I get excuses while im trying to explain myself the woman begans to talk louder as if she is getting upset. Maybe this dress might be my LAST dress from there. read more

Came to Original Fashion after reading some yelp reviews giving great comments on plus size dresses here. Granted, they do have loads of dress styles and yes they have plus size dresses, but its only partially true. All the wedding gowns they have here are all strapless gowns. You can get wraps for them but if you want a one piece with sleeves or straps you aren't going to find it here. Also their idea of plus size is very misleading since all their dresses run 1-3 sizes smaller than average plus size. So if you wear normally a 2xl you'd need a 4xl or 5xl dress and they don't carry anything higher than a 4xl, and only on select designs. So really they only can cater to ladies who wear a size 2xl or less, that's barely plus size. They also have a limited color palette and design options here, a lot of the styles are dated but classic. But here's the great thing this shop does, these dresses are cheap. They even have a $20 rack. And lots of their dresses are perfect for costuming! The fabric may be cheaper, but the price reflects it. The customer service was also very strange here, pretty much from the moment me and the mother in law walked in the door. As soon as we walked in we were approached aggressively and coldly by a staff member. They couldn't communicate what we were looking for, almost as if they had no idea what was in their own store so when we'd walk around trying to find it among the impractically organized store (the dresses are sort by style, then color then size....should separate the girls sizes from women's smaller and women's plus sizes then by style then by color, so it takes a while to browse) we were stared at the whole time as if we were going to steal or something. I was there with my soon to be mother in law who is a retired Sheriff's detective for pete's sake. Then when we went to try on some dresses and try to take photos so I could send them to my own mother who lives in another country the clerk who was helping us scolded us and told us we couldn't. Mind you no signs up front said this anywhere we could see. But then she, after us pleading and explaining how the mother of the bride lives in another country, went to I guess the owner of the store (a male) to ask and they said we could only take one photo. Hmm...ok How was I to take one photo of multiple dresses on my body??? Makes no sense. So when I found a dress in a shape I could try on I went to the dressing rooms, which mind you were fully exposed to the rest of the store and when I came out of the dressing room there were three staff members and the owner guy standing right out front my door waiting for me to come out. Very uncomfortable to the say the least. I'm already a person who hates clothes shopping and trying on in the store because of my size I really didn't need a full store of patrons and staff members staring at me when I came out of the dressing room. CREEPY! My big suggestion to folks coming here, don't try on the clothes, aim to get a dress off the rack, pay for it, try it on at home and return it if you don't like it. But go in knowing your size and what you want otherwise you will get all eyes on you. And bring someone hispanic if you aren't hispanic otherwise they will profile you like they did us. Would I come back? Me personally, no. They get two stars, one for the value, and the other for the amount of options they had to look through. Plus sized brides come here! I am a size 16 and after making appointments at several high end bridal shops and had no luck. They never had dresses over size 14, the consultants wouldn't listen at all and then I'd be pressured to buy and order dress I had not been able to try on for hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars. I finally was just driving around trying to find any dress shop and I came across this store. Looking at it from the outside I wasn't sure if they carried wedding dresses at all. However when I went inside there was a huge selection of wedding dresses. Now this isn't the type of store where you make an appointment, you get a personal dress consultant and then order a dress to be made for you. However after my experiences at the other stores I really didn't want any of that. I just wanted a store with more than one dress to try on! Almost every wedding dress style they had they carried in sizes xs-3xl and in a lot of them they also carried 4xl. I think I tried on a ton of wedding dresses as well as regular formal dresses that came in white and ivory. When I got down to my favorite 4 the seamstress came out to show me what she could do with the dresses. There was one dress I really liked except for a couple of details. The seamstress showed me how she could add on the straps I liked from another dress, she could tighten the back of the dress, tighten the bust, hem the bottom to make it the right length and I could pick out fabric from another store and have them make a belt out of it to cover some bead work I didn't like. She said she could do all of that for only $42! This store is prefect for a bride on a budget. The fabric is a little cheaper than the regular bridal shops but I'm only going to wear it once! I got a wedding dress in the same styles as the big bridal shops for $90. The other stores were asking $300+. Instead of ordering one to be made They sell you the ones off the rack to take home that day, but I think this is part of how they keep the prices down. The dress I ended up buying fits perfectly the way it is, but they told me if I keep the receipt I can bring it back closer to the wedding and still get the discount on alterations for buying the dress there. I will definitely be coming back here with my bridesmaids! They carry dresses for all occasions so I think this will be my first stop from now on for any special occasion. read more

I had a really bad experience at this place. Only reason I visited this store is because I am coming out on a wedding and the bride chose the bridesmaids dress from there. I tried on a size small, fit perfectly! I ordered it and when it arrived it didn't fit (I haven't gained any weight) and 3 other bridesmaids had the same problem. The owner accepted the manufacturer sends the wrong sizes sometimes but she couldn't do anything about it. She offered to give me a bigger size but since it was too big I would've to pay $100 for alterations, plus $25 if I wanted steamed (dress was really wrinkled) the price of the dress was $75 So I would've ended up paying $200 for a 75dll dress. Poor quality of the fabric. Really not worth the money. Owner is very unprofessional. I ended up getting the bigger size since there was no solution. But the dress she offered was missing buttons. She asked me to step outside while they fixed it. Once I came back inside she was telling her husband in front of employees and other customers I was crazy because I asked her to at least give me a discount on alterations since it wasn't really my fault they sent the wrong dress they don't warn customers that situations like this could happen. I was hesitant to try Original Dresses due to the other reviews claiming the staff was rude, but I was at the end of my rope. I had been looking for a formal dress to wear to a black tie event and was having no luck. Most formal wear I had found was appropriate for young women in their 20's or more mature women in their 60's, nothing in between. I wanted something long, fitted, with a neckline I could wear a regular bra with. I was hoping to find a dress that fit at least one of my criteria. At Original Dresses, I found so many options, I actually had several finalists and left with 2 dresses that fit! I also noticed they carry sizes from XS-3XL in styles that would flatter different body types. The staff was courteous and helpful, but they did not hover (which I can't stand), so for me I felt their amount of helpful intervention was appropriate. This store has beautiful dresses and decent prices but the sales agent was very rude and mean. We were there to choose dresses for a Quince. One of the girls was about a size 14, the dresses would fit her but snugly. The sales lady was overheard talking to one of the owners about how the girl will not find a dress because she is fat. This enraged me and I politely let them know. Regardless of what you think, keep it to yourself until the customer has left. Young girls have self esteem issues already, they don't need to hear it from a stranger. When I confronted them about it, one lady tried to deny it but the others didn't. this store has the worst customer service ever. i showed the seamstress the color and how i wanted the bow on the back of the dress this was on march 6 i told her i needed the dress for a wedding on march 21 she told me the dress would not be ready until march 17 on the 18th when i went to pick up the dress it was completely wrong she did not make the bow the right color in fact she didnt make a bow at all she simply gave me a red sash. i asked to speak to her and the store owner said she was not in and to come back the next day and get my money back today my boyfriend went to get the money back and the lady wouldn't give it to her. told him i needed to go buy the fabric that i wanted and she will do it over..... she messed it up why should i spend more money to buy the fabric she messed up when i already paid her for it the first time. then she tells me i should go to her house so she can do it cause shes not working when i get off. worst service ever will no ever come back to this dress store.... rip off watch out!! read more
