The restaurant could use some cleaning. The service was quick. I want fried shrimp but they cook the shrimp in the same grease as the fish which is not okay with me. The snapper was better with hot sauce. The chicken was good and cooked throughly. It was seasoned well. The okra was good. The greens are good. The bathroom needs to be cleaned. There was a lot of parking

I can't give it negative stars! I ordered the 3 pc cod and it was horrible! Who batters cod in a heavy catfish batter? They do and it's not good. Cod should be battered in a light batter. This isn't it! Don't waste your time if you want good fish and chips. Sorry Skips but I won't be back!

Hair in the Sweet Potato Pie

3.3 rating is exactly what this place deserves. I ordered a 3pc cod dinner, my side was coleslaw, and I ordered a drink. The food was alright, 7/10 on taste, but I ordered a cod dinner and they me whiting. If they were out of cod, I wouldn't have had a problem changing my order, but to just give me whiting like I don't know the difference is poor service. The lady at the front was nice, but I also seen how the cook didn't have on a hair net. (I get that some people don't really care about that, but I've had too many stands of hair in my food because of this). In fact, I found a piece of hair in my sweet potato pie!

At first sight, I didn't think this was gonna be that amazing. However, their fish is amazing. Taste fresh super crispy not greasy. It is absolutely wonderful. We had the cod, shrimp and oysters. My favorite was the cod. It was wonderfully battered and cooked. Amazing I can't even believe this came out out of what I would call a fast food type joint. it's family owned and operated. Or least has that vibe.

Strolling down Truxel rd seeing what to eat. Oh my Skip's has opened up, with out Skipping a beat we stopped by. It was scarce inside, with couple employees, so we had plenty of time to comb through the menu. And it was clean too. Finally the choice's were rendered. One fish po'boy Skip's style, and one quick small basket of fish with fries. The food was served hot and tasted good. The po-boy bread was good. The choice of style you have is: Skip's style - coleslaw, tartar sauce and Skip's sauce. Traditional style - lettuce, tomato, pickle, tartar sauce & Skip's sauce. We got it to go and it comes in a box that opens almost fully like a tray. Differently cool and worked well. They have plenty of options and some non seafood items too if you fare for the sea.

My aunt been telling me to try this spot out so I did l, inside was clean, their customer service is good, the food was good, there was a long wait, but the owner kept reassuring the customers thanking us for being patient, and he even gave us a slice of cake.

This place is so generous with their portions & DANG do they know how to season food! The raspberry lemonade slushie is perfect & tangy on hot summer today. I got the fried shrimp basket which comes with two sides for 14$ honestly not bad at all with how generous they are with portions. My boyfriend got fried pickles & the chicken sandwich (he loves this place he's been here more than me) Can't believe it took us a year of living down the street to try this place out. What a great spot to get lunch! You can order online & pick it up which is what we did and it was super easy. I'll Be back again to try their fried chicken

They were decent, but I probably wouldn't order them again. Next were the mains. Oxtail over rice, Fried fish, and fried chicken. Everything great, but the oxtail was easily my favorite & probably the best oxtail dish i've had from a soul food restaurant. Tender and delicious. On to the sides. Mac & cheese, yams, potato salad, country gravy over rice. Again, all great, but the mac & cheese stole the show. We all know how hard it is to find good restaurant mac and cheese, and this one definitely stood out. Friendly staff & food came out hot and fresh. Once the drinks were I the girls hands our table was ready. Our waiter Rollin was excellent he made recommendations in the order of what people should try so we ordered two of his must try: 3 piece chiclen & waffle with Mac n cheese and collard greens and my wife goes with the catfish platter with potato salad and candied yams which came with two hush puppies. Food comes out in a timely manner but as I start eating the food seemed Luke warm, the fried chicken wasn't moist but almost dry as if it was sitting under a heat lamp for a while, the waffle was still crispy and was tasty after you added the strawberry butter, Mac n cheese was dense and the collard greens were salty. My wife devoured the catfish but didn't touch much of her sides yams were overly sweet and potato salad wasn't to her liking. I did try one of her hush puppies and it was more like a fried piece of cornbread. Throughout the entire dinner Rollin kept tabs on us and was the highlight of our visit. He didn't even blink when one of my wife's girlfriend shows up late. And made sure her food came out quickly since we were mostly done eating our meals. Oh and the restaurant's music was super loud so I felt like we were back in a club that served food.

I hadn't been since last summer and was happy to return. Parking can be a bit hectic, but once you're inside, the atmosphere makes up for it. It's a family-owned spot, and you can feel it right away -- everyone is kind, welcoming, and takes the time to check in on you. We came for breakfast, but they also offer lunch and barbecue options, so there's plenty to choose from depending on when you go. They've also expanded and now have a location in Elk Grove. I ordered the French toast plate, which came with thick-cut slices of bread, eggs, and bacon. The French toast was soft on the inside with a nice golden finish, full of flavor without being overly sweet. The eggs were well seasoned, and the bacon was cooked just right. BB ordered the cheeseburger with fries and a side of grits. The burger was juicy with grilled onions and melted cheese, and the fries had that crispy, beer-battered texture. Everything came out hot and satisfying. Overall, a great spot for comfort food with genuinely friendly service. Definitely planning to come back -- especially for the biscuits and gravy next time.

The staff are genuinely welcoming, the portions are generous, the comfort food gives solace, and breakfast lovers can rejoice because it's served all day.
