Hard to tell if the prices reflect Williamsville, egg shortages, or corporate philosophy, but I had some sticker shock looking at the prices. BTW, there's no possibility to upgrade to real maple syrup, so for a premium price for pancakes, it's ersatz sweetener. We ordered buttermilk pancakes, and savory mushroom crepes. The pancakes were outstanding: The perfect amount and cooking time. I can see why it's the flagship product. The mushroom crepes? It was the strangest breakfast I've ever had (and I've lived all over the world). To begin with, it was made with a sweet, not savory batter. The mushrooms were not sliced and folded into the filling with a sauce, they were sauteed whole, and poured over the top, as if they were berries. To add to the confusion, this choice comes with a side of pancakes or potato pancakes. This is my absolutely favorite place ever the pancakes in there are absolutely so delicious the way they make the eggs are are cooked with a little bit of fluff and the bacon and sausage is always on point absolutely my favorite. The service was really great since we sat down. They gave us coffee and then they let us take a minute to look over which they checked on us a couple times until we were and then we ordered the food came out pretty fast almost 10 minutes after. Is that place always a place I bring people who are coming out of town or visiting or when I'm just here with my family. The ambience is very family oriented. There's always a line which I like and once we sit down it's very quick I'm always there seeing someone. I know that I haven't seen in a really long time. It's like a fun brunch living room. This place is a Buffalo institution. I been coming here for years. Recently the menu has been simplified and no more QR codes on your receipt for payments from your smart phone. I loved that feature. Brunch with family here on the 20th. Covid protocols followed, distancing and sanitizing. We had great food and super service. Our server, Rachel, guided us through the assembly of the Dutch Baby. I've eaten at OPH before, but first time on Union Rd and first time to try the Dutch Baby, which is the main reason for this review. If you've not had this delightful pastry, you are in for a treat. A tray of fixings is brought to the table while the "bowl" is being baked. Soft butter, powdered sugar, lemon wedges, sliced strawberries, small pot of strawberry sauce. a friend from out of town and I decided to make a stop at the Original Pancake House on July 3, as it is one of her favorite restaurants in the area. Once we walked in we realized that they totally changed the decor to an ugly grey color, which was totally different from the kitschy, vintage look that it was beloved for. We gave the host our phone number after around 20 minutes of waiting without any service, and I understand that it was busy, but within the time we stepped into the building, no one had been spoken to alongside the many other people waiting. We decided to wait in the car to give other patrons more space, and after another 20 minutes, we just went to Alton's in West Seneca, and it was lovely. They never contacted us regarding our table/spot on the waitlist. I would highly recommend going anywhere but here, or if you do go, be prepared to not be served. Lol. Our breakfasts were not at all warm when they arrived and my sisters potato pancakes were literally swimming in grease. By the time my bacon came it was pretty much useless. They weren't busy either. The nice but mostly absent waitress seemed to think it wasn't unusual for some omelettes to not be fluffy but this was always a signature of their process of whipping in a milkshake mixer and finishing in a cast iron pan in the oven. My other sister who NEVER complains said here lately theres almost no cheese in the omelettes and while at first somewhat defensive of the company, the waitress did finally admit they lessened the amount of cheese. We sat within five minutes upon arrival. They were fairly busy on a Sunday around 11:30AM and waited about five minutes before a server took our drink order. I had ordered the raspberry pancakes that had fresh raspberries and a raspberry sauce on top and asked if I wanted whipped butter and powdered sugar on them as well. My fiancée ordered the french toast with the butter and powdered sugar as well. My son had the scrambled eggs with American cheese and a stack of buttermilk pancakes. I believe it is 6 that comes in the stack and they are decent sized. While we waited for food, the server was very attentive with drinks and making sure my coffee was topped off. Our food arrived and we all dug in and enjoyed our meals. The atmosphere is a family style sitdown and have plenty of table space. They do have both booths and tables that can be put together for larger parties. Most items are a-la-carte but they do have breakfast combinations that come with a few options. Stopped in from our road trying to get home. Friends were a bit skeptical when we entered but when they received there food they apologized and stated how good the food tasted. One of my friends had the pigs in a blanket and kept commenting on the sausage used and how good it was. We visited the Original Pancake House on a Sunday afternoon. I got the corned beef hash with potato pancakes. My meal was delicious, I tried the sour cream and applesauce with the pancakes, the applesauce was delicious, the hash was obviously homemade and was also excellent! My son got the freshly squeezed orange juice and I had a taste, it was the best orange juice I've ever tasted! My daughter got the raspberry crepes which were also great! I find it hard to be able to nail down a review for this place. Here's why - their Dutch baby is amazing. Perhaps one of the best breakfast creations ever. If you haven't had it and like a hardy breakfast, you absolutely must give it a shot. Be forewarned, it takes 20 minutes from order to it being served. We loved it (not the first time we've had one) and would take the chance at any opportunity we can get it. The restaurant service was good. I think the day we went there was a single server for the whole place. She was attentive but had a lot on her plate, so to speak. The restaurant is dated, but the real disappointment was that the bathroom (I can only speak about the mens room) was disgusting. It was as though it hadn't been cleaned for the night before. One of my favorite places to go for breakfast! Everything feels homemade and is delicious. I have never had a bad meal here. I had the western cheddar omlette, and I would definitely get it again. They did not skimp on the cheddar! I always get bacon here, because its cut thick, and cooked perfectly. I love their French toast as well. Their preserves is delicious to put on it, or the toast. I have seen the Dutch Baby pancake so many times and I know they have one here so I ordered it for the first time! I ADOREDDD THE MEAL so soo much! No one at my table was able to get their coffee below half way before a diligent member of the waitstaff was there to fill it back up! In addition to their extraordinary coffee game, the turn around on the food was fast, and I should mention it is very delicious! It's always a delight to come to the Pancake House for breakfast - we don't go often, so it's a real treat when we do. I like to praise them on how real their ingredients are; actual cream for tea, good jam. But it's not just the little things that make this place great. Whatever you end up ordering, be it pancakes or an omlette, the food is always fantastic!!
