And it's worth the wait. The Poked Yolk is popular with the locals, and has an extensive menu (with full-service sit-down at tables, booths or the bar, along with take-out). The menu features a broad mix of breakfast, brunch and lunch offerings centered on comfort food with a few health-conscious options. Breakfast include classic egg plates, Benedicts, omelets, breakfast sandwiches, burritos and specialty dishes such as the Keto Hash, Crab Cake Benny and Jose Benny. Sweet breakfast selections include pancakes, waffles and French toast, with more indulgent options like White Chocolate Raspberry Pancakes, Cookies & Cream Stuffed French Toast and banana-themed waffles. I was very fond of the basic breakfast, the waffle and the bacon, which appears to be more of the delicious center cut. I came here because I was in the area and hungry. It was packed even at 10:30 on a Tuesday morning. Parking lot was full. They have booths, tables and a small counter. I don't really understand why everyone loves this place so much. It's certainly fine. The food is good. But nothing about this place makes me think "can't wait to come back". The Poked Yolk was bustling today with a large group of school teachers celebrating the end of the school year. We were quickly seated in the dining room. It was very loud here, almost painfully loud until the group of jubilant teachers left. They were not using their inside voices! I had the 1/2 lb Greek burger on a Costanzo roll with homemade chips. Very rich and tasty. My dining companion had a very satisfying Chili cheeseburger on a Costanzo roll with coleslaw. We love the Poked Yolk and the innovative menus. Visited The Poked Yolk today with some friends, and after finally trying it, I can completely see why everyone talks about this place. The food was amazing and the service was honestly great from start to finish. I got one of their May specials, the Mexican strawberry French toast. It was stuffed with strawberry cream cheese and topped with fresh strawberries and a kiwi drizzle. It looked beautiful and tasted even better. Every bite was sweet but balanced, not overly heavy. I also ordered a side of home fries and turkey sausage just to try them out, and both were really solid. The home fries were crispy and seasoned well, and the turkey sausage had great flavor without being greasy. Two of my friends ordered the dulce de leche pancakes, which were another May special. I stole a bite and immediately regretted not ordering them myself. They were fluffy and sweet with just the right amount of caramel flavor. I already know I'm coming back later this month to order a full plate for myself! Our other friend went with the caramel banana Belgian waffles. I did not try them, but they looked incredible. Everything we ordered looked great and tasted just as good. The portions were generous, and for the amount of food and quality, the prices were totally reasonable. Our waitress was super friendly and stayed on top of everything, even though it looked like she had a lot of tables. The food came out pretty quickly, and it was fresh and hot when it hit the table. I was here this past weekend with my husband to get breakfast after an already tiring day of looking at cabinets *shudder* We chose this restaurant because of its many gluten free options. They sure delivered. We were able to sit down immediately, despite how crowded it was inside. Our waitress was over right away and she was courteous and pleasant. I ordered their cinnamon apple Belgian waffle and my husband had an omelet the size of my head. That waffle was intensely good in the best way possible. It came with a lot of cream and some really delicious apples. It complemented the syrup and cinnamon so well, I may drool just thinking about it. We were presented our bill as soon as we finished. I've heard alot about this place even though I live in Florida now, bit my parents are regulars and we stopped in after they picked me up at the airport for my Christmas visit. It was busy for a Monday at noonish, and we were seated after a few minutes. I ordered the Poked Yolk, thier signature dish and namesake, which was diced hash browns, with chorizo sausage and cheese mixed and served with two eggs your way, with toast. I enjoyed the breakfast, and the diner coffee was good, and the women working there hustle like hell! The menu was large and I could have eaten 10 other different things.. It all sounded awesome. I just placed a To go order here, I've been here twice before and service was great. It's been a year or so since I've been so I gave it a try today. Their homemade jelly is always different, so I like to try their unique jellies. I placed my order and asked for extra jelly. I didn't get any jelly, I got eggs toast and two pancakes. They gave me one small syrup for two giant pancakes. No salt or pepper on the eggs and didn't send any with it. No butter on my toast. And worst of all no jelly when I asked for extra. read more

I went with my sister in law for breakfast to the poked yolk on a Saturday and first of all I can't believe I have never been before! We didn't have a reservation and had just stopped in and were seated immediately! I ordered the Jose Benny and oh my gosh was it delicious! The lightly toasted English muffin, topped with chorizo, tomato, and poached egg topped with salsa verde sauce was killer! The little bit of spice from the chorizo, mixed with the fresh ingredients of the tomato, egg, and sauce left my tastebuds having a fiesta of their own! To make it even more worth the order, the dish came with these perfectly cooked breakfast potato's mixed with peppers that paired perfectly with the Benny! I couldn't believe how such a cute little place, with amazing service, a huge menu, and wonderful staff could make such a delicious breakfast and even more wonderful start to my morning! I had the breakfast burrito-it was packed with flavor and definitely my go-to breakfast meal. The has browns had a bland flavor-maybe that's why the offer to put with peppers and onions but perhaps if they were a bit more crispy they would be best! Either way I enjoyed my meal. Now I thought it will be rice cauliflower and side of ham, sausages and bacon NOPE, they all get chopped to pieces and mixed with the cauliflower. I was a bit disappointed when the food came out. I was like noooo where's my bacooonnnn??? But after I taste it, I'm like ok, it's fine... taste good... flavorful so all is good. My friend ordered veggies omelette it has kale and mushrooms on it. Looks good. I love kale and I almost shamelessly steal some kale. But I managed to refrain myself. I think I will go back again and take my bf. One of this day. This is a very nice little breakfast/lunch place. The ONLY reason I am giving it 4/5 and not 5/5 is because the outside could use some major work. We pulled up for the first time and my husband didn't even want to go in because the outside looked worn out and unclean. I pushed on and he ended up feeling perfectly comfortable once we were inside, but there was a chance he could have dug his heals in and we wouldn't have even tried it. It was also a pretty brisk day out and the door seemed to be letting in a draft that terry often. I think they need one of those entry way things like the Resturant have in Chicago that take eliminate the possibility for a breeze to get it. I ended up getting the Santa Fe omelette with chorizo and other ingredients that seemed inspired by our Southwestern corner of this country and our friends below the border. I really enjoyed my omelette and I would order it again. I am looking forward to going back to this Resturant again to try more of their interesting creations. OH! We have been here for breakfast a few times now, and have enjoyed it every time. I have tried their breakfast burger (with an egg) and other breakfast sandwiches, and my husband usually orders the 2 eggs with bacon and toast. He also loves their biscuits and gravy, and that is impressive because he has high standards for them since his cousin from Alabama makes the real deal with lard and all. Hopefully, the sausage gravy at the Poked Yolk is slightly healthier (wishful thinking I know), but sometimes you just can't sacrifice flavor - let's face it, we are not all going to live forever. We usually try and get there before 9-9:30am, and have never had to wait longer than a couple of minutes for a table. The waitstaff is always super efficient and friendly, and the food is always hot and fresh. It's been difficult without breakfast at Sophia's now we live in the southtowns, but I think we have found a new breakfast joint! read more

I swear if they had a location near downtown Buffalo, I might not go anywhere else. I struggled to decide what to get because there egg and waffle options are amazing, so I said, 'GETT'UM BOFF!!!' (Picture me with a big beard, bigger belly, and even bigger hat almost like a black Yosemite Sam, when I say that). Pew Pew lol I went savory with the Jose Benny: an English muffin topped with tomato, spicy chorizo sausage patty, poached eggs, house made green sauce, and sour cream. Service with seasoned homefries, but add the onions and peppers please. Satisfied my light sweet side with the Caramel Banana Waffles because you can't beat walnuts, bananas, and caramel.
