In all my years, I've never been to a Tommy's, even though I had one near me in Santa Monica, and this one here in Hollywood when I lived in the same city. For me, it's the chili that turns me off as I am not a fan of this food at all. Growing up, my family always made it with kidney beans which I don't eat, so I always thought chili was made with these (obviously learned later this was not the case). When a friend was craving Tommy's, I finally caved in to try it for myself. For this visit, I went for the #4 California cheeseburger with fries and a medium drink. I had a little trouble understanding the staff but once we were on the same page, everything was good. This was not bad; fries were decent and the burger was a big one. My first meal at Tommy's wasn't bad. Friend was raving about their strawberry milkshake so I returned later on my own for a chocolate one. It was my first time visiting this location. I stopped by on a Saturday evening since I was in the area. They have a parking lot and drive thru which is convenient. I decided to dine in and there were only two other people eating inside. There was a security guard by the front door and she had the key to the restroom. Tommy's on Hollywood Blvd is a regular stop for me when I am going to the pantages theater. Just off the 101, about 3/4 mile from the theater. Nothing satisfies quite like a chili cheese burger and chili cheese fries. Tommy's still tastes great and reminds me of my younger years. Order and pay at the counter. Grab a bunch of paper towels and grab a table. The counter staff will call your number in just a few minutes when they have completed your personal masterpiece. There's a drive through if you don't want to get out of your car. Once your number is called sit down and revel in the delicious chili covering your burger and fries. The Original Tommy's marked the third stop for a burger on our trip; one that happened extremely impromptu while searching for a fountain Pepsi for one of our family. On our way up to the desert hills Under the Hollywood sign this seemed like the perfect place as it had a drive through to quickly pick up said Pepsi, and then it struck me... I may as well get their signature burger as I was already here, and that is how I ended up with the monstrosity of Tommy's Original Chili Cheeseburger. While I can understand the potential draw of such a sandwich as it has incredible potential to be delicious, this was definitely the worst burger I had on my trip, and among one of the worst fast food burgers that I have had in my many years. The problem here stems from the fact that I have nothing to compare it to. I have never had one of their sandwiches before and I have not experience a fast food equivalent for something like it. I do know that the burger patty was thin and almost flavorless and the chili was also thin and the seasoning very strange, almost like a Cincinnati chili with a chocolatey sweet flavor. I did not have a chance to go into the restaurant because we simply hit the drive through very quickly. My experience may have been different had I sat down, or even went to another distinct location. If I have the chance to visit LA again, I will give them another shot because the menu offerings were so different and the whole place gives off a very 1970's unique vibe. If you like burgers and are searching for all the strange and wonderful burger types you can try across the country, then I recommend you try Original Tommy's, but otherwise until I can reassess their food, I would steer clear! read more

After ordering food I was presenting funds to use apple pay, I told him it'll be just a second he rudely cancels the order and yells NEXT CUSTOMER! I was first introduced to Tommy's when I moved to California back in 2005. I left California in 2015 and usually try to got back once or twice a year but I always neglect to stop at a Tommy's. Not on this trip. To be honest, Chicago has better food, but every now and then you do crave a nice chili cheese burger. Something Chicago is definitely lacking. I came here for just that. From time to time when we have family coming into town and do the whole touristy thing, we like to swing by Tommy's for their chili burgers. This location is off the 101 on Hollywood Blvd across from the 76 gas station. They carry a variety of menu items like their chili burgers, chili fries, chili dogs and even chili tamales! You don't have to get chill on everything they do have breakfast items, fries, regular hamburgers, and so forth, but they are known for chili burgers! Whenever we have gone, we have never had problems with the service as they are usually pretty quick and friendly. The bathrooms are not really all that great so I try not to go unless I really have to go. Usually have to retrieve the key at the counter in order to have access. I don't go here for the bathrooms though..I come here for the food. Parking outside is usually pretty easy to find parking. All in all, Tommy's is not a bad place for a quick bite. As I exited the freeway at Sunset Blvd, Tommy's was the first place I noticed It is 845 and I am not in the mood to have a burger for breakfast but my hunger is greater than common sense at this point so I entered the drive-thru. I noticed a breakfast sandwich and burrito on the menu so I ordered the breakfast sandwich. I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised as I ate my sandwich. You can go through the drive thru, eat in or take away and there is a third party delivery service. If you like greasy chili burgers this is the place for you. They are the best. They also will put chili on anything, fries, hot dogs or alone. It is never super crowded and the service is fast and very nice. They make your food to order and it will come to you hot and ever so tasty. It is just the best junk food you will ever have and forget your diet and you may need a Tums after with all that chili. It's close-ish, it's open 24 hours and it will do the trick when necessary. I thought the chili was okay the first time, so on a hot dog? Would be a pretty safe bet. I was wrong, I think the the 7-11 has better chili cheese dogs.
