Tommy's on Hollywood Blvd is a regular stop for me when I am going to the pantages theater. Just off the 101, about 3/4 mile from the theater. Nothing satisfies quite like a chili cheese burger and chili cheese fries. Tommy's still tastes great and reminds me of my younger years. Order and pay at the counter. Grab a bunch of paper towels and grab a table. The counter staff will call your number in just a few minutes when they have completed your personal masterpiece. There's a drive through if you don't want to get out of your car. Once your number is called sit down and revel in the delicious chili covering your burger and fries. Yes I know that I will probably have some heartburn, but it's well worth it.

The Original Tommy's marked the third stop for a burger on our trip; one that happened extremely impromptu while searching for a fountain Pepsi for one of our family. On our way up to the desert hills Under the Hollywood sign this seemed like the perfect place as it had a drive through to quickly pick up said Pepsi, and then it struck me... I may as well get their signature burger as I was already here, and that is how I ended up with the monstrosity of Tommy's Original Chili Cheeseburger. While I can understand the potential draw of such a sandwich as it has incredible potential to be delicious, this was definitely the worst burger I had on my trip, and among one of the worst fast food burgers that I have had in my many years. The problem here stems from the fact that I have nothing to compare it to. I have never had one of their sandwiches before and I have not experience a fast food equivalent for something like it. I do know that the burger patty was thin and almost flavorless and the chili was also thin and the seasoning very strange, almost like a Cincinnati chili with a chocolatey sweet flavor. I did not have a chance to go into the restaurant because we simply hit the drive through very quickly. My experience may have been different had I sat down, or even went to another distinct location. If I have the chance to visit LA again, I will give them another shot because the menu offerings were so different and the whole place gives off a very 1970's unique vibe. If you like burgers and are searching for all the strange and wonderful burger types you can try across the country, then I recommend you try Original Tommy's, but otherwise until I can reassess their food, I would steer clear!

I was first introduced to Tommy's when I moved to California back in 2005. I left California in 2015 and usually try to got back once or twice a year but I always neglect to stop at a Tommy's. Not on this trip. To be honest, Chicago has better food, but every now and then you do crave a nice chili cheese burger. Something Chicago is definitely lacking. I came here for just that. I'm glad to see the flavor and quality is still there. The burger tastes just how I remember it. The prices have definitely gone up, but still worth it for this amazing burger. Their chili cheese dogs and chili cheese fries are good as well but I only had a burger this time. Service was great and the restaurant was clean as well. Would definitely recommend this place.

My Tommy's burger. I had my own bag of chips in the car.

Tommys......I would go when burgers were $1.25. The meat was hot off the grill with that thick chili. Now it's substandard with fries a soda fountain...back in the day it was the burger a bag of chips & a can soda, delicious! The original on Beverly now serve soft ice cream cones, tamales, hot dogs.....get outta' here w/that. The workers are not friendly and the ambiance remains, grab your food, eat outside on one of the wooden counters or in your car:

Los Angeles institution. Always a great experience. Food made well and fast. I personally don't think it's the tastiest chili but I'm never not getting one when I visit Los Angeles. Open until 2a helps too as I was staying in the area and hungry after walking back from Hollywood Bowl after a concert.

I was traveling on the Hollywood freeway when huger hit me like a ton of bricks. As I exited the freeway at Sunset Blvd, Tommy's was the first place I noticed It is 845 and I am not in the mood to have a burger for breakfast but my hunger is greater than common sense at this point so I entered the drive-thru. I noticed a breakfast sandwich and burrito on the menu so I ordered the breakfast sandwich. I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised as I ate my sandwich. Though I requested no pickles, a English muffin and no mayo, somehow the lady who took my order somehow understood me to say extra pickles, burger bun and add extra mayo. Oh well! Despite this miscommunication, service was good and the employee was very friendly I am sure my stomach will be a bit bubbly later this morning but it's all good

Pickles, that were asked not to be in there.

Lots of staff but mostly talking to one another which may cause the slowness. I appreciate a fresh burger but the wait was longer than that. Three kiosks for self ordering (one down due to low battery) and a cashier for orders wasn't enough to keep up I guess and it wasn't even that busy. Service otherwise was friendly when we did interact with staff. Burgers were good and probably top 3 fast food burger I've had for sure. Fries were a little under cooked and soft, but can order well done next time. Cheese on top of fries were a nice touch though. Last but not least, the bathrooms. I get it's Hollywood but security seems to keep the homeless out so it's either disgusting customers wrecking the bathrooms or a lack of maintenance. Haven't had a Shake Shack burger in years, mostly because the locations are not that convenient and it seems that's the issue. New York or Hollywood, both high traffic locations are all I've tried.
