The Original Tommy's marked the third stop for a burger on our trip; one that happened extremely impromptu while searching for a fountain Pepsi for one of our family. On our way up to the desert hills Under the Hollywood sign this seemed like the perfect place as it had a drive through to quickly pick up said Pepsi, and then it struck me... I may as well get their signature burger as I was already here, and that is how I ended up with the monstrosity of Tommy's Original Chili Cheeseburger. While I can understand the potential draw of such a sandwich as it has incredible potential to be delicious, this was definitely the worst burger I had on my trip, and among one of the worst fast food burgers that I have had in my many years. The problem here stems from the fact that I have nothing to compare it to. I have never had one of their sandwiches before and I have not experience a fast food equivalent for something like it. I do know that the burger patty was thin and almost flavorless and the chili was also thin and the seasoning very strange, almost like a Cincinnati chili with a chocolatey sweet flavor. I did not have a chance to go into the restaurant because we simply hit the drive through very quickly. My experience may have been different had I sat down, or even went to another distinct location. If I have the chance to visit LA again, I will give them another shot because the menu offerings were so different and the whole place gives off a very 1970's unique vibe. If you like burgers and are searching for all the strange and wonderful burger types you can try across the country, then I recommend you try Original Tommy's, but otherwise until I can reassess their food, I would steer clear!

I was first introduced to Tommy's when I moved to California back in 2005. I left California in 2015 and usually try to got back once or twice a year but I always neglect to stop at a Tommy's. Not on this trip. To be honest, Chicago has better food, but every now and then you do crave a nice chili cheese burger. Something Chicago is definitely lacking. I came here for just that. I'm glad to see the flavor and quality is still there. The burger tastes just how I remember it. The prices have definitely gone up, but still worth it for this amazing burger. Their chili cheese dogs and chili cheese fries are good as well but I only had a burger this time. Service was great and the restaurant was clean as well. Would definitely recommend this place.

My Tommy's burger. I had my own bag of chips in the car.

Tommys......I would go when burgers were $1.25. The meat was hot off the grill with that thick chili. Now it's substandard with fries a soda fountain...back in the day it was the burger a bag of chips & a can soda, delicious! The original on Beverly now serve soft ice cream cones, tamales, hot dogs.....get outta' here w/that. The workers are not friendly and the ambiance remains, grab your food, eat outside on one of the wooden counters or in your car:

Los Angeles institution. Always a great experience. Food made well and fast. I personally don't think it's the tastiest chili but I'm never not getting one when I visit Los Angeles. Open until 2a helps too as I was staying in the area and hungry after walking back from Hollywood Bowl after a concert.

I was traveling on the Hollywood freeway when huger hit me like a ton of bricks. As I exited the freeway at Sunset Blvd, Tommy's was the first place I noticed It is 845 and I am not in the mood to have a burger for breakfast but my hunger is greater than common sense at this point so I entered the drive-thru. I noticed a breakfast sandwich and burrito on the menu so I ordered the breakfast sandwich. I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised as I ate my sandwich. Though I requested no pickles, a English muffin and no mayo, somehow the lady who took my order somehow understood me to say extra pickles, burger bun and add extra mayo. Oh well! Despite this miscommunication, service was good and the employee was very friendly I am sure my stomach will be a bit bubbly later this morning but it's all good

Pickles, that were asked not to be in there.

My friend went to pick me up a double chili cheese burger and read it to the cashier from the text the said NO FUCKEN PICKLES!!! First bite, a big fat pickle!!! What if I had been allergic? Now I'm at home with no dinner, thanks!! You need to pay attention better.

There is some metered street parking available and a giant lot across the street but the lot may cost $10 or more. You have to scan the QR Code to find out. Are the burgers here worth they hype? I would say yes. The meat and the buns are very high quality. The DH burgers costs a stiff $21 but it's a huge fat patty, caramelized onions, cheese, and a little sloppy with the burger sauce (but in a good way). The meat is very juicy and flavorful. It is a delicious beast. The rest of the burgers they offer are smash burgers (single for $10) and the quality of the meat and buns are excellent. That is a very good price for this burger. We tried the cheese fries, too, and they were very nice. They are ordinary looking fries with house made cheese melted throughout them. For $8, you get a huge pile of them and plenty to share. They weren't extraordinary but they were still very good. The sauce is not incredibly flavorful but I liked it well enough. You will probably wait a while after you order so settle in. There was almost no line during our visit (mid-afternoon on a Sunday) but they take their time preparing your order. For quality food such as this, I am fine with it. I had been wanting to come here for more than several years. Since I knew I'd be driving by them on my way back from visiting someone. I made sure to stop today and try them. There was several people sitting in cars and standing waiting for their orders. They have door dash and all these other delivery options. Most of there orders are delivery. We overlooked the menu and decided what we were going to get. We ordered 1 fat cheese without onions and tomato combo 1 triple cheese burger combo with large chili cheese fries added pastrami 1 peach cobbler The order came to $52. And some change There menu is American, specializing in burgers, but also serving tacos, hot dogs, chili cheese fries, and burritos. Menu highlight is the "Farmer Otis Burrito" (a 2-foot-long burrito) and options with pastrami and hot links. There menu options are huge just keep that in mind when ordering. We waited for our order for about 40 minutes. Remind yourself fresh and good things take time. My burger was so fresh packed with flavors the meat crispy the mayo and mustard on my buns made me wanting more. The pickles were delicious. Now for that triple burger make sure you bring your hunger that's no burger to play around with. 3 large patties just might send you into burger coma. Those large chili pastrami fries are a meal within themselves. We barley put a dent into them and gave up we were full. Now for dessert that Peach Cobbler was deliciously homemade. Only thing missing was some whipped cream. The cinnamon and nutmeg in each bite was mouth watering.
