We always have a delicious meal here. We use take-out and eat-in and the service is great!

3 stars is somewhat generous, it is locally owned and I would like for it to succeed, but their cooks need professional training along with their wait staff needing etiquette training. The restaurant ambience is 'ok'. The service is hit or miss, sometimes very nice, other times they act they hate being there. Their customers are mostly ancient regulars that used to frequent their old location. Everytime I go in I can't see anyone under 70. The food is a solid 2 stars. Eggplant parm is overcooked mush. They claim to be italian but have no clue what al dente means, pasta is ALWAYS overcooked. They should be ashamed to claim to be italian, I'd love to see what a real Italian would say about this food. On the plus side, if you have no teeth, this is the place for you! read more

Called for reservations to celebrate family birthdays. Turns out the person who answered the phone had the days mixed up and they aren't open on Sunday nights this time of year. They opened for us! We had the entire restaurant to ourselves so didn't have to keep the kids' too quiet. Food was delicious (as usual). Excellent service. Did not charge to plate ice cream birthday cake and even put candles on it. Nothing can compare to hometown family operated restaurants. read more

I ordered take out. i ordered Prine Rib and Onion Rings for $32. The meat was supposed to be medium, it was gray and looked like it had been cooked in the microwave. Absolutely no seasoning on it, bland and wicked dry. The onion rings were soggy and limp and again tasted like they'd been microwaved. It's easily one of the worst dinners I've had! Couldn't eat more than a small portion I was so turned off. Wretched experience. read more

We are from out of town, & drove by looking for food. We noticed the sign in the window that said "Joe's Spaghetti Sauce," & decided to give it a try. We were so glad we did! Grace was our server, and quickly seated us & brought our drinks. I had eggplant parmigiana with spaghetti, & Hubby had lasagna. I was so impressed with the sauce that I bought a 35 ounce jar to go! I was grateful that I only got the Mini Entree because I was able to finish my plate, & Hubby couldn't! Great find! read more

The restaurant was busy and had a lot of energy due to a wedding party's rehearsal dinner. The bar had several patrons and the inside dining area was nearly full so we sat on the patio with another party of five. The service was a delight and engaging. The Italian menu items represented well. We had chicken parm and rigatoni and both were very good as the sauce was very tasty. Our family has been going to this restaurant when it was in a smaller older building in the flats for 40+ years. It moved to downtown Oneida to a new building and the restaurant was passed down through the family. We still regularly go there after church on Saturday. I was there this past Saturday 9/18/2021 with my 89 year old mother. Our past experiences have been mixed usually related to service, but overall it is not a terrible restaurant. We were given a round table in the corner, which the top and side edges were sticky and brown. We asked the bus boy for paper places mats. We were told later by our waitress it was from a tablecloth that was stuck to the table. We ordered our drinks a chardonnay and Crown Royal Manhattan. The drinks arrived the manhattan was 3/4 full in a small rocks glass. This is not the first time the cocktail was not filled to the top but it depends on the bartender. 75% of the time it is a full cocktail. I mentioned this to the waitress to make a point and left it at that. We ordered our meal without salad. We had finished our cocktails and realized it had been 40 minutes . I got up and asked for our waitress who we had not seen. She immediately brought our meals out. One of the meals was completely wrong and the waitress left to make the correction. Which prompted my 89 yo mother to find someone other than our waitress to help. An older woman came out and explained we will correct the order. She also started to go off on me for always complaining about the Manhattan which we never mentioned to her. We said we will take our diners to go. Waited another 10 minutes when we decided to leave and just pay for the cocktails. The food came out with the bill. We noticed the price of the manhattan had gone up from $8.00 2 weeks ago to $13.50???? We left $20.00 to cover the cocktails and left the food on the table. The older woman followed us out and threatened to call the police for failure to pay for service. "I know you and your family and your brother she's yelling" I'll just get your car license. You are never allowed back into this restaurant again". My mother is now crying and very upset for being treated this way. I returned to the restaurant to pay the rest of the bill because my mother was afraid. But the older woman was coming out with the food at the same time. I'm not sure why she was bringing out the food we left on the table but I'm guessing she did not have case for failure to pay for service. The older lady's name was MaryJane and said she was the owner. I'm sorry for the the sake of the family name, to be turned over to the younger owners who do not have a clue about loyalty, admitting to their mistakes and very bad customer service. We will be perfectly happy going to another restaurant. read more

Had the chicken parm dinner the spaghetti was over done and the chicken was store-bought frozen chicken fingers with substandard breading. The Merlot had obviously been sitting out for quite a while as it tasted like old Wine - almost vinegary. The service was ok, the waitress pleasant. I definitely would not recommend this restaurant, nor will we be going back there. read more

The food is okay...decent, I guess. Chicken parm is literally chicken tenders covered in sauce & cheese! Their huge problem is the staff and service. They are extremely slow and not very professional. Waited over an hour for our food and 3 of us had fryer food, one a salad and the rest of us spaghetti! We had to ask for every little thing (like drink refills, silverware, etc). Hadn't been here in a while....will likely be an extremely long time if I ever return. Will probably only be for the same reason as today's visit.. to meet up with friends, not on purpose. They could be good with changes! read more

What a horrible experience. Went there a week ago Friday for dinner. I had a bad feeling when they put us in the back room, which was the brightest dining room I have ever seen. Apparently no one on staff understands how to work a dimmer switch. There were just two of us but they seated us at a table for six. OK, but right next to us they were breaking down tables from a big party that must have just left. After busboy cleared dishes, he grabbed a bottle of some ammonia-based cleanser and wildly sprayed about a quart of it on the tables, into the air, everywhere. This lovely horrific smell was gagging us for at least the next 20 minutes. He and a waitress then flung an extra chair over into our table, and grabbed an extra silverware set away from our table, all without a word to us. We - the customers - were invisible to them. Our waitress seemed pretty excited about "starting us off with some drinks" from the "full bar." When we said we just wanted water for now, that was the end of her interest in us for the rest of the evening. Among the strange things on the menu: a small side salad is listed at $3.50. And under Dinners it says you can "Add a small side salad to any dinner for just $3.50!" Well golly gee! Thanks for that great offer! Anyway, when she finally decided to take our order, my wife started to speak but immediately had to stop because the waitress had turned away without a word to say something obviously VERY important to another passing waitress. Turned back and stared when she was done with her conversation. No apology, no "excuse me," just silence. Weird. After we got our food, she never, EVER asked us the usual "how is everything?" (Well duh... why would she ask when she so clearly didn't care?) Had she asked, we could have told her that my haddock didn't really taste like haddock, and that it was pretty slimy. We also could have asked her if it was customary to include just TWO shrimp on my wife's high-priced seafood platter. (And they were not large shrimp by any means.) No, the only times we saw her was when she showed up to grab empty plates. Didn't say anything like "can I get that out of your way?" but rather just a curt "you good?" while reaching for the plate. After she had a five-minute chat with people at the next table (not her table but she knew them) I had to practically tackle her to ask for a water refill. And we did this all under the blinding glare of police-style interrogation lights. What fun. Absolutely everything about the Wagon Wheel is awful. Horrible atmosphere, bad food, and the single worst waitress I have ever had. (And she can't chalk it up to inexperience - this gal had miles on her.) If I could give fewer than one star, I would. Fish was terrible. It was dry and smelled fishy. You should also check your bill carefully. The overcharged us by $10 per glass of wine. When we questioned other charges on the bill that seemed off (since we had a reason to be suspicious), the waitress was only interested in yelling and arguing with us. We have been here for a graduation party and after funeral luncheon and the food was fantastic. Tonight, we wanted a cheeseburger and they were done making them? It was 5 pm and not the lunch menu?? We re-ordered and we waited for an hour and 10 minutes for spaghetti and a meatball, and a fish sandwich. They were understaffed, and the fish was undercooked and NOT a sandwich. My spaghetti was undercooked and the sauce was like someone made water with red stuff in it and no meatball. Very disappointed. I hope if I go back there ever, it is better. read more

Tonight I ordered take-out from this "fine" dinning restaurant. (as per the online menu) For dinner I selected the Italian Platter, which includes 1/2 Lasagna, Rigatoni , and Ravioli. 1 meatball and 1 sausage. First up the sauce: for 'fine' dinning it was tasteless to make it more palatable I added Salt, Pepper, Mrs. Dash and shredded Romano cheese. Next the pasta: when I eat Rigatoni I stuff my fork into the part with the whole, the pasta was so over cooked that from the weight alone it broke and fell off the fork. next Lasagna: no ricotta cheese (which is plus for me I don't like the texture of it) this place uses sliced sausage it just tasted odd, I could not pinpoint the taste or what was wrong with it. they also use not sauce in between the layers, and very little cheese. read more

Very disappointed with the service and the food. We ordered 14 ounce prime rib, this does not come with baked potato or mashed potatoes. As they do not offer either for any meal. All you can get is french fries onion rings salad or soup or spaghetti!!!This supposed "fine dining" restaurant took 40 minutes to bring us our food!!! We were the only ones in the place!!! Now I see why. When we got the prime rib it was about the size of an 8 ounce steak. It had no flavor at all and as my fiancé had already been given her salad 10 minutes before all she was handed was the prime rib! I will never go there again and I recommend that any and all people wanting a good meal stay far far away from this place! read more

I have eaten here before on two occasions, both which did not stand out as either stellar or terrible. However, I ate there tonight and I was so disturbed by what I was served that I felt compelled to share it here. Tonight's special was French Onion Soup- displayed on a large board when you first walk in. I was served the soup about 20 minutes after ordering it which seemed long but I thought no big deal...until I saw it. It was a tiny bowl of floating croutons in a brownish-clear broth. It seems like common world knowledge that french onion soup is a dark broth (beef broth and worcestershire sauce) with bread, toasted cheese and cooked onions. There was no cheese on the soup. The bread was left over italian flavored croutons and the broth looked almost like water with raw onions. How could this be called a special?? Let alone be served to any patron seriously? After that terrible whatever you want to call it, I was served the chicken cacciatore. It was a monster portion-maybe they thought the bigger it would be the less someone would notice how terrible it was. The chicken was rubbery and smothered in a watered down tomato sauce. In fact it was so watered down I could tip the plate and instantly make myself some tomato soup. There was practically no taste to the whole dish and whatever taste there ended up in a napkin because I could not stomach to chew it. Also, the place was not that busy but the staff was MIA, the soda (and refills) was flat, we weren't served a bread basket although some other tables were, and the appetizers came out in random order at different times so we were all eating our own apps by ourselves instead of them all being served at the same time. After spending almost $100 tonight, I think we all would have had a better dinner at McDonalds and I mean that in the most honest way possible. I think this place has potential but there needs to be a real chef and someone managing the place better and get a staff that is most competent and not easily flustered. read more

Honestly I went there once in 3 years of living there despite it being maybe a mile from my house. I went and it was very boring and simple. In fact I can't even actually remember it. We have dined at this restaurant four times in 2013 while visiting family, traveling from NYC. The prices are excellent value, the portions are generous and the dishes match the delicious Italian home cooking restaurants of Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. The salads are crisp, fresh and the dressings in excellent proportion and tasty. The Antipastos are diverse with vegetables, cheese and meats. The soup is usually very good. We especially like the Italian sausage soup(mild) and the minestrone. The Prime Rib medium rare is delicious and tender. Pork Chops a tad dry, but seasoned perfectly. Lest there be any doubt, the homemade, locally legendary tomato sauce is delicious with spaghetti and meatballs and the ravioli stuffed with cheese. The senior citizen of our group orders the fried haddock and devours all of it with compliments. The moderate priced wine by the glass is well selected. Recommend their chianti and pinot noir. Service is friendly and attentive. The bartender can mix a great Manhattan and Martini. Located at the main city intersection of Main Street and Lenox Avenue, this is a restaurant worth getting off the Thruway for a 10 minute easy drive or an escape from the Casino ambiance or drive from adjoining locales. read more

Tonight was our 2nd time here. The first time we just had pizza. Lets just say-when we left we had to go get something to eat-absolutely horrible. Frozen crust, no flavor. Our friends kept telling us to go back and have an Italian dishit would be worth it. So, ok-we went back and that will be the last. First of all...$3.50 for a salad with my dinner which consisted of stale croutons and iceberg lettuce. The bread was just sliced Italian. I would expect a find dining Italian restaurant to have good bread. I had eggplant parm w/ rigatoni and my husband had the Italian platter. The eggplant parm was good, nothing special. The rigatoni was overcooked and over sauced. The lasagna had no sauce in between layers, it had a very strange taste to it and the ravioli was slimy. It all seemed like frozen food. It amazes me this place is still in business. Over priced and under seasoned. You are better off getting out of town! read more

No one else was in the dinning area so they were not busy. After waiting we left, no one even noticed that we were leaving. We will not go there again, terrible. read more

Family run business familiar to locals for many years, now located in Downtown Oneida. Our preference is to eat outside and they have a very nice patio on the Lenox St. side. Wait staff is always attentive and the food is good. My selection of choice is an Italian platter with several different items. Good people, good service, good food. read more

We used to love coming to the Wagon Wheel three years ago or so. We were pleased with the smaller portion options, and I loved the eggplant parm, fair cost of wine, and coconut cream pie. Our last few experiences here were approximately a year ago and were consistently negative. Cash only - not sure if that's changed, but that was the deal a year or so ago and as long as I can remember. What put the icing on the cake was being served "chicken parm" that consisted of friend chicken tenders with marinara and mozz on top...at an Italian restaurant. Nope. Slow service on our last few visits as well. We don't plan on going back any time soon. read more

The worst meal I have ever had I got the prime rib had it cooked medium and it was like eating the hoof of the cow there was no way it was prime rib Denny's has better steak and it was not because of the way it was cooked it was just vary poor quality meat vary blah the service is slow took forever to order and even longer to get food what a disappointment when we actually got the food I don't know if they don't give you refills or if you have to chase them down to get one I did not get one or offered one never been so happy to leave a restaurant it would not be a big loss to the community if they shut down read more
