There is nothing to be found wrong about this restaurant. I've heard nothing but good reviews and finally had a chance to check the place out. It would've helped if we checked the dining hours. Got there 15 minutes ahead of opening, which was fine. Sat down in a nice open-aired dining room, Clean, airy, white table cloth. The place filled up quickly. Our server Rachel was quick to come over with a warm invite, water, and brought bread, butter, and oil. If you like Italian food, this is a place you should hit up. Huge variety of dishes, including a wide array of appetizers, soups, and sides. I'm a huge fan of eggplant so couldn't resist. Our service said it was excellent. She was right. It comes one of two ways in that you can get it as a dinner or à la cart. I went with à la cart which included a house salad and a side dish of pasta. Saw Utica greens on the appetizers and couldn't resist. They were fantastic. You can get them mild medium or hot. Medium it was. Strongly recommend these if you are a fan of Utica greens. Prepared to perfection. As the eggplant approached the table I was impressed how large of a serving it was. So big I couldn't eat the whole thing. The eggplant was outstanding. It was thinly sliced. It melts in your mouth. It's smothered in their red marinara sauce. The sauce is on the sweet side, which is how I prefer. Excellent! With the à la cart meal, you get a choice of a side dish. Being a big fan of Angel hair pasta, the decision was an easy one. About the side salad, it's a good size salad to accompany your dinner. A lot of fresh veggies, carrots, red cabbage, tomatoes, and olives. A sign of a good restaurant is one you'll go back to. We will be back. read more

This is definitely a three star Italian restaurant. Yes, it's very popular and they do some things well, but there's a lot of room for improvement here. The portions are quite large, but the prices are a bit high as well. Recipes seem to be mostly homemade though the salad dressings seemed like they came from large plastic containers. Meatball flavor seemed a bit off to me. Just didn't like it and their sauce was just OK. Pasta was fine..basic bread on the table. Definitely nothing special. The house Italian dressing comes with balsamic vinaigrette. We had a family of 10 and many dishes were ordered from broiled halibut to fettuccine Alfredo, to prime rib, to chopped sirloin, to pork chop Milanese. The Milanese pork chop was definitely the big hit. My dad ordered a steak medium rare and of course they served it well done. Service was about a B. Our server was absolutely wonderful- quick and friendly. -Free bread: wish it was warm but it was fresh -Garlic pizza: huge, can serve at least 5-8 people, very tasty. -I ordered the tortellini carbonara (I somehow forgot to take a photo of it): very tasty, generous portion of prosciutto. Would definitely get again. Salad for a side was meh, mostly lettuce. -Mom ordered the seafood cakes: she said they were good but were more breading than seafood. -Dad ordered the chicken riggies medium: he said they were delicious and correctly medium spicy. -Grandma got the shrimp marinara: good portion of shrimp, she said it was delicious. What an awesome menu Vito's has. There's something to please everybody. Pasta, salad, and maybe even meatballs & sausage are included with the à la carte entrees. The enormity of the platters is outstanding. We ordered Sacchetti and braciole. The Sacchetti were delicious and came with a choice of meatballs or sausage. The braciole came with the thinnest slice of beef wrapped around a lot of stuffing. It came with a side of pasta & salad. The braciole tasted mostly like the stuffing & tomato sauce. The beef was lost in this dish. However, every dish was served at room temperature or cold; no steam rising from anything. Cold pasta, cold sauce, cold meatballs. Nothing was served hot. The service was excellent. Kind of on the salty side too. I drank a shitload of water after this meal. With a little heat, this dinner would've been 4.5 - 5 stars. Met some friends and had a wonderful lunch. I love sitting down, getting the menus and water and then the server brings a basket of warm, fresh bread with but and garlic oil. Our lunch specials came with a side so my friends had chicken soup with pastina and I had an amazing salad with tomatoes, olives, chick peas and roasted peppers...and the house balsamic was very tasty. Two of us ordered the Pasta Pie with a meatball that was soft and nicely seasoned. The other entree was the Sacchiatti(?)....little pastas purses filled with cheese in a vodka sauce. All our meals were hot and fresh and seasoned nicely..it was nice the grated cheese was on the table if someone wanted it. We all enjoyed our meals very much and decided to have lattes and dessert. Eclairs, cannoli and Limoncello cheesecake were the perfect ending. Had a great Father's Day dinner here. Food took awhile, but it was a packed house. Despite this, our waitress was really attentive and we all commented how good the service was. Started off with the garlic pizza that was delish. I had the tenderloin tips with Marsala sauce. My dish was amazing, the steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and loved the sauce pairing. My family got shrimp marinara, seafood cakes, meatballs, and chicken riggies. The only complaint was that the seafood cakes could've used more actual seafood than breading. Although we did not have a reservation for our party of four, the manager took care of us within a few minutes. Our server was great, friendly and although very busy with a lot of tables, gave us plenty of time. We ordered some drinks (recommend the Aperol Spritz), and then our mains. Eggplant Parm, Lasagna, Baked Haddock and the Bouillabaisse. Each came with a salad and a side. Everything was very good, but I felt that the pasta sauce was a bit burnt. Vito's was a great experience and happy I got to try them out for my birthday. They are always busy and the parking lot does not lie with how packed it is but when you walk in the tables are spacious and spread out nicely. We didn't feel we were sitting on top of anyone. Our waiter, Jeremy was great and so helpful. He really took the time to give us input and recommendations for food and wine. His recommendations did not disappoint. We started out with some bread and oil with a bottle of wine. The bread was warm and soft and very good, we couldn't stop eating it. My boyfriend got the pork chops Milanese with a side of vodka penne. They were huge and delicious, he left with one full one and some pasta because of how big they were. I got the special lobster riggies and I chose hot for spice level. I'm a huge spicy fan, I throw tobasco sauce on everything and eat jalepenos on almost every sandwich. Their spice level was a bit too spicy for me to really enjoy the pasta, just way too many peppers (that's a lesson learned on my part since this is different everywhere). I still loved the pasta, their riggie sauce is delicious and there was lots of large pieces of lobster. I took half of mine home as well. We ate so much we had no room for dessert, but our waiter gave us some ice cream cake from another birthday that was offering. We ate some with our espresso to tamp all that delicious food down. I've often heard great things about Vito's Ristorante, but I've never taken the time to check it out until the other day. Four of us went on for dinner, and when we arrived, the parking lot was packed. We were pleasantly surprised when we were seated right away. Bread was brought to the table, and drink orders were taken right away. Our server (sorry, I forgot, her name and can't give her the proper credit) was spot on, friendly, and attentive. We ordered lasagna, chicken riggies, linguine with white clam sauce, and chicken parm. Everything was fresh, hot, and tasty. We all really enjoyed our meal. Vito's was very clean, and the ambiance is welcoming. The noise level is a little higher than some other spots, but I took that to mean folks were enjoying themselves. I highly recommend Vito's for any occasion. Give them a chance to impress you as well. read more

We went with a party of five for a later dinner and were greeted with a warm welcome. Vito's was still quite busy . The restaurant is very comfortable. Amelia was our server. She was attentive and friendly. We ordered fried calamari and mussels to start both were excellent. My son and I both had an antipasto salad, then we shared veal piccata and fettuccini Alfredo. Our other diners had shrimp riggies and shrimp scampi. Just last week, we had the chicken riggies at a graduation party last week and they were so yummy. We have been to Vito's numerous times with large parties. Never a problem, but the last time we were there it was terrible in many ways. Our reservation was for 630. We were seated right away. It took a while to get water. We ordered appetizers which were very good. We did not get our dinners until 830. An incredibly long time to wait. My dinner the seafood antipasto was awful. The mussels were huge and smelled I ate very little My one son ordered the seafood bouillabaisse , in which he has had in the past. Everything was overdone and did not taste good. My other son ordered the special which was crab cakes. They were very small and only came with 2. A party of 12. I could go on and on but enough said. We live in a world of "fast casual" and eateries that spin the screen toward you so you can add a tip before you even receive anything. Vito's is not that kind of place. Vito's is wonderful. With servers that are kind and patient and check back with you. I will return just for the service alone....but oh wait, the best spaghetti I've eaten in a long time along with the most delicious salad and bread. Soft drinks are served in generous glasses with lots of ice - just how we love them. It's a throwback to the days of typical restaurant dining that I miss so much.... don't miss Vito's. :) It's hard to find places like this outside of Central NY. Buon Appetito! read more

My wife, daughter, and some of their friends got together at Vito's to catch up on things. The restaurants atmosphere hasn't changed at all since it changed names from Rico's to Vito's. Portions were ample, but quality of the food was sub-par. Our daughter had the gnocchi, and said it lacked flavor. One of the gals had the chicken parm and said it was "good". My wife ordered the chicken riggies, and it arrived cold. She notified the waitress, and the dish was taken back to the kitchen (to be tossed into a microwave), and when it came back, the pieces of chicken were so rubbery that it was inedible. When the waitress returned, she asked if my wife wanted a box to take it home, and my wife told her it was totally inedible... The waitress did take it off the bill. This is not the first time this has happened, I had the same problem with chicken franchise on a previous visit, half my chicken was so tough, I literally could NOT cut it with a knife and fork. We will cross this establishment off of our list of places to eat. read more

At a Saturday evening birthday gathering, we experienced both and it's been a long time coming. Although a large gathering, everything went as smoothly as silk. The food arrived at the table hot and delicious. We tried myriad offerings, to include salad and appetizers, and not one disappointed. The excellent service (above and beyond) was the unexpected surprise. Unfortunately it's been awhile since we've experienced such attentiveness in a dining establishment. We were greeted with by a smiling manager, and smiling employees, who seemed authentically happy to be there. All around us were people who were clearly "regulars". So we have a happy place with many repeat clientele. The environment is clean, spacious, and well appointed; an inviting ambiance. Our waitperson, Erin, was friendly,, efficient and most accommodating. And now, for the food. We ordered the full dinners and had sausage riggies ( a local, Syracuse creation), and eggplant parmigiana as the mains. The food was impeccably prepared and plentiful. Manager was very accommodating of our request to move tables due to noise level (dining with 2 that have hearing issues). Service was good but a little too transparent "I'm busy, so if you want drinks order now". And we should have been told upfront what they were out of that night (created a bit of last minute shuffling when they were out of braciole). Red sauce was good, not great. Shrimp Francaise was good - shrimp appeared to be hand breaded. Cannelloni were delicious. Haddock was good. I would definitely go back for the food. After not going to Vito's for a couple years, I went yesterday and had an amazing meal. The stuffed peppers, homemade garlic bread, were all delicious. I decided to get the Vodka sausage Riggies (Hot) "al dente" and they were top notch. The flavor of the peppers came out in the sauce and it was s delicious dish. We have a ton of really good Italian restaurants in Syracuse, but I have to go out on a limb and say this might be the best going Italian Restaurant in Syracuse and the surrounding area for the price. Great place for some excellent Italian food. They have all the favorites and great customer service. The flavors are very evident in everything I have tried, the apps are well prepared. I came here at lunch time to order something to go. One of the soups was Pasta Fagioli which had enough ditilini pasta and good beans (plus several empty bean husks), but just trace amounts of bacon, ground beef and red pepper pieces. No chunks of tomato, nor was there any tomato sauce? It was a bit low on flavor as I added some pasta sauce at home to help. Also, 2 meatballs to go. If I had them here, I would have sent them back to the kitchen. They were decent size, and were obviously made in-house, but seemed to be made MOSTLY of bread crumbs! Some flavor here, but any frozen store-bought meatballs are better than these. They sat in a little amount of so-so smooth red sauce. A slice of Key Lime pie was OK, but this comes from their distributor. The people that waited on us were very good and helpful, even with their many dine-in customers. read more

Recent visit to Vito's for dinner was excellent. The place was jumping with patrons. Our server handled orders and delivery like a pro, which I'm sure she is. There were 6 in our party and 2 of us had the Veal Marsala. It was excellent ! Salads were plentiful and dressings yummy. My husband had pasta and meatballs which he said was ok. He's a tough customer otherwise this would be 5 stars. Absolutely not worth it for the price, I got vodka riggies with chicken, and I'll be sticking with Francesca's. The chicken was 100% microwaved, the riggies themselves were okay, but price did not match the flavor or portions. I just couldn't get over the microwaved chicken in a $23 plate of riggies. read more
