I took my truck to Frank's Transmission in Coldwater, MI, for a transmission repair covered under a third-party warranty. Prior to the work commencing, I was explicitly informed that my financial responsibility would be limited to costs incurred for parts purchased by the shop or labor rates exceeding the warranty company's approved rate. In my case: The transmission was directly supplied and paid for by the warranty company, totaling $2,160. All additional parts required were covered by the warranty company. The warranty company approved and was willing to pay the shop's full labor rate. Despite these arrangements, I received a bill for over $1,400. Upon reviewing the charges, I discovered that the shop had added a significant markup, exceeding $1,000, on parts they did not purchase. Furthermore, I later found out that they had charged the warranty company an additional markup of $300 on the transmission. When I questioned these charges, I was informed that the shop required a 32% profit margin. While I understand that businesses need to generate profits, I believe that adding substantial, undisclosed fees, particularly on parts not supplied by the shop, is not in line with the initial explanations provided. I attempted to resolve the situation by offering a compromise, proposing to pay an additional $600 instead of the initial $1,453, but this was declined. My recommendation to others utilizing third-party warranties is to ensure that all details are documented in writing and to specifically inquire about any additional fees or markups, even if parts are provided by the warranty company. I was also told that the shop was doing me a favor, considering the amount I paid for the warranty. However, I disagree, as charging a markup on a part not purchased and refusing to warranty the work does not constitute a favor. This experience was frustrating, and I hope that sharing it will help others avoid similar situations at Franks Transmission. I recommend exercising caution when considering their services, particularly in light of the unethical practice of charging a $300 markup that was already paid, only to attempt to impose another markup.

I was very understanding and waited patiently for my truck to be repaired. Recently my transmission started slipping again and I brought it back to your shop. The fluid was changed and I was told an adjustment was made. I was told it was shifting normal again. It did not even make it 10 miles before the problem started again. The transmission was out of warranty as they offer 12 month 12,000 mile warranty but I would expect a rebuild to last more than 19,000 miles. I am retired and it is my daily driver. I do not tow or plow with this truck and it is definitely not abused in any way. I am very disappointed I only got 19,000 miles out of a $3000 rebuild and had to pay the expense of having it towed back tour facility twice within 2 months of you fixing it.

During that time my fuel sensor was damaged causing my dash unable to read how much gas I had. Not only did they claim not to know how to fix, but they REFUSED to pay for the damage that happened while my vehicle was in their care. It cost me $500 EXTRA dollars to fix the mistake at a different location.come here at your own risk.
