DO NOT RECOMMEND. Extremely poor experience. I was experiencing pantry bugs in my apartment. They were A) deceitful about the fact that they would charge me for months in between visits and B) their workers visited twice and didn't resolve an infestation issue that I resolved myself with 30 minutes and a bottle of pest control spray bought from Home Depot. My terrible issues consisted beyond their visits. 2 days after I tried treating it myself with a cheap spray, the issue was gone. I could have saved 500-800 by hot calling Orkin. They pushed to sign a contract the day of the initial visit for estimate. Got 2 other bids for attic infestation that were less than half, so canceled that but went with the bug spray and "house Wash". Came, supposedly, to spray the outside a second time, but I never saw them. My desk is infront of a picture window. Found out they saved my CC info so they charged me for it without ever speaking with me. Had just as many bugs as before the 3 very expensive services. Sprayed myself with Ortho from hardware store and Presto! No more bugs! House wash left hideous streaks on every window. read more

Does a very good job and we have had zero pest problems since we started with them. The value is there for us! Called Top Rated Orkin pest control for a bee infestation problem. The dispatcher was out of state had computer problems and struggled to find an available technician near my home. Dispatcher would not quote me an onsite service charge instead indicated a regular service plan was the best option. I called another Pest Control company no problem issues resolved. read more

Had them out three times for my parents apartment bed bugs. Never fully got rid of them but cut down on them. Of the three techs, only one had any idea of what to do other than spray around the edge of the room. We were charged monthly for 6 months. We called twice and were issued refunds, but no explanation as to why we were charged. Customer service is terrible and workmanship not much better. read more

I'm not one to post a bad review but figured it was worth noting the experience I have had with Orkin. I've been debating on posting this.. but here it is. I found a few mice in my home last fall so I called Orkin to come assess where they were getting in. They sent someone out and he patched a few areas but said he was going to send out a wildlife person to check my attic and another area (as he was not trained to do this). A few guys came out shortly after and said that the mice were likely getting in near my stairs and that they would send some out to seal it. Well... fast forward a few weeks and I had not heard anything. I reached out to the lady who was assisting me with the scheduling/information over email. Then I didn't hear back... so I emailed her again. Well.. we got a ton of snow then and I figured maybe she was on vacation and I would wait to hear or reach back out in the spring once the snow was gone. When I reached back out in the spring/summer they told me that I never heard back as she no longer worked at Orkin and that in order to get my steps sealed I would need to pay as I was outside of the window to get it done at no cost like they promised. I feel the job was never completed and it's upsetting they wouldn't come out and do what they originally said because a worker leaving and me not hearing back is not necessarily my issue. read more

I would NOT recommend. They are very misleading in their pricing, the service does not actually do anything that is covered in the large annual fee so everything they recommend is additional. I called about a service to help with mice, the representative locked me into an annual contract for $863 ($203 initial + $60/month) she originally had quoted me $300+ and $88/month since she had snuck in a mosquito spray we didn't ask for. When the representative came out to my house, he did absolutely nothing. He said the traps I already had already bought and set were good and recommended getting bait boxes (that were $35/each - NOT included in the package). He then sprayed our house for bugs (which I didn't ask for - that was not an issue and then charged me additional for that). They also sent out an inspector who told us to sign up for an Orkin Shield for $103/month for 36 months ($3600!) and had also said to buy two other things for $250/each. So again, no solution recommended was included it the annual $863. I would highly recommend going with a different company or buying traps and bait boxes yourself. read more

I don't use Autopay because if Orkin makes a mistake and takes money from your bank, without your permission, they'll tell you how sorry they are but it'll take 5-7 business days to return the money they removed against your wishes. One time is forgivable, but to have them do this 3+ times should be criminal. It's been 7 business days and they still have not returned my money. It's very problematic to be on a tight budget and then notice the money that is allocated to pay a bill, is (OOPS!) gone because of their mistake. I've been with Orkin for over 4 years but I'm done! We used to have a fantastic technician but since he moved to a different service area, Orkin service has tanked. I do NOT recommend this Orkin and beware of their billing practices! read more

so many red flags from the first phone call. called for pricing, but the scheduler kept trying to get me to set up for all of these services i didn't ask for. told them i would call back to schedule after talking with my partner about best time and date to service our home. they called me back less than one hour later to set up the appointment. and insisted i didn't need to talk to my partner who works from home about a time to come into our home. we called later to make the appointment and didn't get a call back until the next morning. they made our appointment just to cancel it the morning of our scheduled service . the customer service was extremely rude from start to finish. would just call Plunkett's they offer the same service i requested for $20 cheaper and that's after your $50 off first service. so potentially much cheaper. and they were polite and speedy for scheduling next day. read more

I called Orkin for a treatment of carpenter ants. I was repeatedly told different prices on the initial quote. When I called back to schedule treatment, I was told something different once again. When all was said and done, I had to do a contract for a year to be able to do one time treatments as needed. So, I did the full year. When the year was up, the service provider told me to contact Orkin to make sure they just didn't renew another year. I called and they told me that in order to keep the price for one time services I would have to do another year contract. If I didn't do another year, I would have to pay $288 per service. This was after paying for a full year contract $120 ever 2 months plus a first time service fee. This is not what I was told so they sent me to the district manager. He told me that he has heard of people being told that, but it's not true. He did nothing to rectify the situation. He said he was sorry and that he would get my account canceled. This is a very dishonest and scammy practice. The ants are gone for now, but I will not ever use Orkin again.Horrible customer service! read more

I contacted Orkin because somehow a rat got into my basement and it wouldn't go for the bait in the traps I had. Two months and 252$ later I finally caught it in my cage trap using raw bacon as bait. Nothing Orkin did helped at all. What a waste of money. read more

This is a useless company like a scam. They promised money back guarantee at the beginning to make you pay for their service. After you paid, they did send a technician come to your house but just do a little regular job like find some holes and use the steel wool to fill up the holes. Set a few traps that never caught one mouse. They came to my house 3 times and always did the same thing. They had never caught one mouse and mice keep coming to my house. They send the technician to your house even though you are not at home, they just do their job around your house outside and even they didn't do anything, they still charge you money for $94.97. I run a airbnb business, the technician come to my house without my permission to knock the door and bother my guest, which is disrespectful and annoyed. I don't know why refused to find hole inside the house. They only look for holes outside the house but I have a porch. The technician can't get into the narrow space under the porch, so he could not find holes there then they would never stop the mice coming into the house if there are holes on the foundation under the porch. He could do it inside the house to block all hole from inside the house but their technicians refused to do so. I don't know why. In general, They didn't do good job at all and don't want to charge you one penny less. I paid money for nothing. My guests saw the mouse and left. I had to refund them. Their bad service hurt my business and they had never admit it and use any excuse to denny their bad service and refuse to refund you not like they say on phone " we guarantee you!" that truly a lie! After being a customer for 12 years, this company has deteriorated to the point, that neither phone calls nor emails bring any communication. A couple of the phone calls brought only promises, but no results. I simply wanted a touch-up appointment, yet no one obviously seemed to care. After persistence, when I finally got a hold of a person, who claimed she had some authority, she treated me very rudely, make no excuses for ignoring me and still scheduled me a week out, after I had been attempting communication for two weeks. Needless to say, I will be searching elsewhere for a reputable company, who features respect and communication, the way that the Orkin company used to be run. read more

Extremely expensive service when all they do is come do an outside exam of the home and then talk you into something they call Orkin Shield which sounds like something really special, also had us insulate our attic with mouse proof insulation. All they did inside was a quick spray for bugs, mice and set some cheap wooden mouse traps for the mice. Not impressed then you get to monitor the traps and throw them away. Had been setting my own nicer easier to set snap traps, thought they would have something more effective and technical, but no just cheap traps. Also you would think for the price they charged it would be a one trip job but no they only came when they had another job in the same area. Was like paying almost 8,000 dollars for the two services wasnt important enough. The work was piece meal and shoddy done by people that didnt seem to have much training or really care what they were doing. Took around 5 different visits to get things done on the outside of our home. The insulation was done in one visit and that went smooth , the shielding was a long tedious process. Everything from cancelling appointments to not having the right supplies to do the job, to having to redue sections that had been cut wrong before to refastening ones that just fell off. Everyone was polite and friendly but sadly not at all what we expected from a long time professional company, rarely the same workers showed up. And when it finally did come to an end the 1st inspector who had sold us on all of it no longer works for the company, as the 1st worker who came is also no longer there. Doesnt seem to be about the customers satisfaction more like just making a sale. Way to expensive to bend thin metal and place it around the outside of an average rambler house. Nothing like their commercial shows about the installation which looks so impressive. Also stuffed the steal wool around the side of the garage and the back of it. Supposed to keep out every critter, but already had been tugged out in one area by something, so we pushed it back in. All in all a long stressful experience not at all what i expected. This company is terrible. I called because I had a yellow jacket problem in my house and was badly in need of a pest control company to come out and take care of them. The entire time the Orkin guy was more concerned with me purchasing a 12 month contract and had no interest in actually helping me..because I needed the bees taken care of I agreed to the $200+ just to get someone out there. The rep. Scheduled the appointment for an 8-10am window on the following Monday..at 8:45 a woman called to cancel and reschedule the appointment for the following day. At that point I canceled all services with Orkin and called BOGO who came 2 hours later in a rain storm and took care of my problem. Bottom line is, don't use this company..they're more expensive, not reliable, and are only looking to make a sale..no interest in customer service. Call BOGO pest control! read more

worthless! they came in, sealed 3 holes of 18 i discovered, put down some traps, and left. since their visit, i have had to plug in all the other holes myself as well as rid of mice. i called countless times to have them come by and was never contacted back. i also had to raise hell to get my contract cancelled. if you're in elk river area just go to blackhawk pest control. all caps on for emphasis. read more

Instead of showing up, I get a call saying they don't have any techs available and that they are going to have to re-schedule for the end of the week. No thanks. Not sure which location because the phone number I had was a local number, but it's still their company. They give you a two hour window. No one ever came or called. They wouldn't call me back after I left a message yesterday. They didn't seem to care that I had to change my schedule from work to be there. They apparently suckered me into a 1-year contract. During the consult I was told I was signing for a one time treatment because I made it VERY clear I did not want to sign a service agreement. They just called me to tell me that they have me scheduled again in a week. When I called them back to cancel that they told me they don't do one time services and only do contracts. I am waiting on a copy of the contract I apparently signed which they told me they will cancel with a 30-day notice, so I am stuck paying again for one more treatment. Terrible customer service! When I called I talked to a sales manager named Tim who offered to come out and do a free assessment. I explained to him that i had a mouse issue, but wasnt interested in signing up for their year long service contract. I had used these guys before, and they tried to sell me a year long contract, but when the tech came out he explained that i really didnt need that, and i could just pay the one time service fee of $219. Thats basically what i wanted again, but apparently Tim didn't want me talking to the tech directly. Anyway, Tim came out, did his walk around and told me he didn't see any obvious entry points, but that it was probably a loose siding issue. He said that orkin could take care of this but it was expensive. I asked him how they were going to fix it, caulk or glue or what, but he couldn't tell me. When I told him I would prefer that a service tech come out and take a look, he seemed to be okay with that, and said that he would take care of it and someone would get in touch with me on Monday. I never heard from the company again! I will never use these idiots again! read more

If I could give Orkin ZERO stars I would. Hands down one of the worst experiences with a business and their customer service, in my life. Anthony came out, early July, to do an inspection. Verbally quoted me $180 for Exclusion Service only, just to fill in any obvious entry-points. Said I'd have a quote in a couple days, never heard back. Called Anthony a couple weeks later, after realizing I hadn't seen a quote, he then quoted me $250, saying they can't just do Exclusion, they need to leave rodent traps, as well. Scheduled the service for 2 weeks ago. Got an email the day before saying, "This is to confirm your Orkin service for Tuesday..." On Tuesday, got an email saying, "We are cancelling your service for today, since you did not confirm..." WTF? Re-scheduled the service for today. Started getting emails this morning about payment...BEFORE the services had even been rendered. I told Anthony that I would pay after I was able to get to my lake home this weekend to confirm the work had been done adequately. I also told him I would not give out my credit card information over the phone and asked him to send a formal invoice with a way to pay electronically or remit a check. HE THEN SENT AN EMAIL ASKING IF I WAS AVAILABLE TONIGHT FOR HIM TO STOP BY MY HOUSE TO PICK UP A CHECK. What in the world? What business do you know of that conducts business in this manner?? I called the Eden Prairie Orkin branch and requested to speak to the Branch Manager. The girl at the front desk put me through to Anthony. I told him I had requested to speak to his Manager and he said,"Thank you very much, have a nice day," and HUNG UP. I contacted corporate Customer Support, she reached out to the technician who said he was only performing the Exclusion service, not leaving traps. So, I"m expected to pay, in advance, without an invoice, and contradicting information on what exact services are being rendered... The Branch Manager, Rich, then called me. Nothing but a bunch of excuses and apologies. I told him it was absolutely LUDICROUS to be talking to me about payment, PRIOR to the work being done, without a formal invoice. He said if I wasn't willing to give him credit card information over the phone, he would cancel the service. I WILL GLADLY GIVE MY MONEY TO A COMPANY THAT DESERVES IT. Terrible customer service. I filled out an online contact form and requested I be contacted in the evening, as that's when I am available. I now have 7 missed calls from Orkin. I finally answered when I could and asked the customer service rep why I had been called 7 times, especially after I stated I could be reached in the evening. And not once did they leave a voicemail! She just laughed at me and said my number was entered on an autodial system and it calls until they get ahold of you. Really? Sorry but your harassment lost the business of a potential customer. I live in Phoenix, AZ but needed service at a property in Mpls, MN. I called the Georgia call center and scheduled service. The agent offered me two time slots for the same day. Either 2-4 pm or 4-6 pm. I selected 2-4 pm. I paid for the service with my credit card. I arranged for a friend to be at the property (as I am in Phoenix). At 3:00 pm I received a call from the Orkin located in Eden Prairie and they told me that they were unable to keep the appointment and could not come until the next day. The manager was rude and unprofessional. I explained my circumstances and asked that they try to send someone even if it needed to be from 4-6 pm. He said "NO" !! My guess is that because it was Friday they wanted to close up early and never mind the inconvience to the customer. I received a refund to my card and will NEVER do business with Orkin located in Eden Prairie again!! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would! Terrible, terrible customer service, and after speaking with other companies, realize they are overpriced and they try to lock you into multiple treatments that you just don't need. We had an infestation of carpenter ants, so we called Orkin and were told someone would be out the same day and that it would cost $260 + tax. They also said we would need repeated treatments every two months, even in winter (in Minnesota!) or their work isn't guaranteed. Since we were going out of town for the weekend (this was on a Thursday), I agreed to the price and rearranged my schedule so I would be home at the scheduled time. A few hours later, I get a phone call stating that there wasn't a technician who could service us and we would need to re-schedule. Since we were leaving town, we rescheduled for the following Tuesday. I never received a confirmation email or phone call so when Tuesday morning rolled around, I decided to call and confirm. Our window was 8-10 am and I called at 9 am. I was told "Sorry, we don't have a technician available today, we can reschedule again for Friday. We apologize for the inconvenience." I told them they could just cancel the whole thing. I had already taken time off from work twice, I wasn't going to get burned by them a third time. I called a local pest control company (Be There Pest Control) and was given an appointment for 4 p.m. the same day, was told I would only need one treatment, and the cost was $40 cheaper than Orkin. What a joke!!! I called the Orkin Company for an Ant problem outside and also spiders and potential ants indoors. I was assured with all this BS about their history and their money back guarantee etc....and so I agreed to have a technician come out between 8-10 a.m. on 6/22/15. I got a call from the tech that morning asking to re-schedule my apt for an assessment for 1400-1600 the same day so I agreed. He had to drive from the cities to my home in Wabasha , a two hour drive. He arrived at about 1530 and did no assessment of my interior home. Never set foot inside. He looked at the trees and ant hills in my yard that were infested with ants as I walked him around the yard. He assured me he would apply granular to the entire yard for the smaller field ants and then spray the carpenter ant areas to kill off their colonies and get to the queens. Then he would treat a barrier outside along the home and treat indoors as well. Sounded good to me. I left him to begin his work and was surprised a few minutes later to see him talking on his cell phone at the driveway rather than beginning the work. I asked him if he was having problems and then it came......a cockamamie story from his boss that my yard was too big and they couldn't lay down enough materials to properly treat my yard because of their concerns for the safety of the birds and wildlife ? Wtf? I couldn't believe the nonsense I was hearing. He was basically saying it was too big a yard and would require too much pesticide and therefor didn't want to take care of my problems as he had assured me , ten minutes earlier, that Orkin would. Then he said it might cost more for the second visit , like over $300 but he was going to just treat part of the yard today for the $212 quoted ($199plus tax) . I told him I wasn't buying the manager's BS so he could just leave and I wasn't interested in Orkin if that's how they do buisness. Bad enough they were gonna sock me $212 for the first treatment and lock me into a one year contract, for an additional $79/ every treatment after the first. They'd have to come every other month so just over $700 for the one year agreement with them. Now they re-neg'd on me and didn't want my buisness cause they would have had to actually use some product and do some work. Oh well, I spent $7 on some borax and will kill my own ants now. Who needs these scammers!! Glad I never got locked into a contract with these guys! I had carpenter ants twenty years ago and that's all the pest control service used back then as I remember. I'd rather not do it myself but I'm left with no choice. Orkin customer service called me today, two days later and asked me how my first appointment went and I let him know exactly what I experienced and this rep seemed to not want to hear my complaint so he was off the phone pretty quick and offered no customer service. read more
