Went on 9/21/17. The Crawfish Etoufee was delish. I would definitely order it again. The gumbo on the other hand, ABSOLUTE WORST I've ever had. Rue was awful. Nothing ruins a gumbo more than a bad tasting rue. Also, we waited entirely too long for our order, 45mins easy. The cashier told my husband to get some $18.99 meal because he "recommended it" Come to find out, all it comes with is a bowl of Crawfish claws with melted butter and some dirty rice on the side. Not price worthy one bit. I can't say I hate it because my meal was great but the wait really has put a sour taste in my mouth. The place was not overly busy at all. My family has been going here for years. We're proud LSU alumn and huge Saints fans in this family, we love cajun food, and this place is the perfect stop. The menu has a wide array of options, from pasta to po boys to fried seafood. My mother and brother love the Pasta Baton Rouge, my dad gets the crawfish etouffee, and I get a shrimp po boy almost every time. Always consistent, always delicious. And the crawfish here during crawfish season is amazing! All I wanted was a good chicken salad for dinner. I asked for the dressing on the side because I'm allergic to so many ingredients. My salad came but the dressing had been mixed in! Went here for brunch after work with my coworkers. I ordered the crawfish etouffee and the portion was a good size with bread on the side. I got to try the fry shrimps, catfish, dirty rice and boudin balls. Overall, the service was fast and the food came out hot which is a plus. My etouffee was good I finish my plate, I'm not really a fan of the dirty rice, the boudin balls were delicious, and their fry seafood was average. My fiance and I came for a quiet anniversary dinner before we have a big celebration on the weekend. The restaurant was busy but we were able to place our order quickly. We had the fried alligator appetizer and I ordered the Catfish Orleans, my fiance the large Shrimp Etouffee. The food arrived after a short wait but I wouldn't have minded waiting longer because everything was delicious. My Catfish was tender and flavorful. The shrimp Etouffee had plenty of large shrimp and had a good balance of spice. The fried alligator was crispy, still had great flavor and tasted fresh. The portions were very generous as well. My wife and I have heard great things about this place. I am a huge fan of gumbo and she likes anything with shrimp . I visited new Orleans a few months ago , tried the char grilled oysters which I fell in love with. On the menu of this place says it's similar or alike . So we ordered half a dozen, large gumbo and grilled shrimp. This is a order at the front and find a seat type place. A bit on the loud side but the atmosphere was nice. It's crawfish season didn't get any this time but $7.99 with 2lb minimum. Alright let's go from the best tasting to the worst. Gumbo woohoo, here we go.. This roux is perfect not to salty and not to starchy. Had the right amount of seafood and rice . First bite was a bit orgasmic in my mouth. And the next was thing i know I had slurpped down the gumbo. It was THAT good. My wife liked her grilled shrimp but not so much on the fried rice that came with it. Rice was a bit dry and not so tasty. Now onto the char grilled Oysters. I have been waiting to find a place that would make it like new Orleans. This might be the place???? NOPE very disappointed, oysters are COVERED in cheese and not well seasoned. My wife loved the Nola oysters but couldn't even finish one. Very bland. I don't like to waste food so I ate it all lol. Even though they didn't taste like much. Few hours later I started feeling pains in my stomach that I have never felt before. I Love the place instead of the Big chain Cajun restaurants. I have been eating here for at least 7 years. Taste, Price and Staff are Great and Friendly. This place has good food, but unfortunately some of the menu items have changed over the past couple of years. Two items that I used to rave about were the cornbread and the red beans. Me and my wife go to New Orleans quite a bit and love the food out there. Don't ask me why but there is always something better about the Cajun/Creole food when you're eating it in NOLA. We have tried several places here in Houston only to find that most (really all outside of the Spot in Galveston) either skimp on what ya get, overprice their food or just do not do it right. With that being said when we discovered Orleans Seafood Kitchen we were skeptical about trying them out. We read all the reviews on Yelp & Facebook along with checking out their menu and thought hey, we'll give them a shot one day. Well today was that day, allow me to tell ya all about it. When we got there, around 1pm on Super Bowl Sunday and the place was packed! We were getting our food to go so that was not a big deal to us, in fact it put us at ease because we figured it meant it had to be good or else it would not be that busy. The nice young lady at the front, Jordan I believe her name was (at least on the register tape it was listed as that) was super friendly and answered any questions we had. We placed out order, Shrimp Po'Boys including one for her mom and a order of Boudin Balls, all of which came with orders of fries. She offered us some fountain drinks while we waited for our food which was super nice. The decor inside this place really reminded us of our favorite place in New Orleans, Cafe Maspero. Several booths and a variety of tables to fit all sizes of parties. They also offer on Senior (55 & up) discount on Tuesdays, a kids under 12 eat free on Wednesdays and a Family Day 20% discount when you present a bulletin from your place of worship at time of order on Sundays which I think is great. They told us they have a live Zydeco band on Fridays which me and my wife cannot wait to check out. Well now let me tell ya about the food. The Po'Boys were outstanding! They were better than any we had in New Orleans, which says a lot since that place is known for them. The shrimp was tasty & plentiful, none being tough or foul tasting, if ya know what I mean. The bread, unlike what ya get at so many places was perfect. While so many places the bread is dried out, here it was moist and added to the sandwich 100%. The Boudin Balls had a great mix of boudin & rice and were fried to perfection. The remoulade sauce ya get with them was great. Overall the food brought us back to the French Quarter without having to drive 6 hours. Throw in the fact that their prices cannot be beat and you have everything you want when it comes to the NOLA dining experience without the travel. Will we be back again, without a doubt. The only bad part about the Orleans Seafood Kitchen is now I am gonna have to work out twice as much to burn off what I'll be eating there. Y'all got lifetime customers in us! read more

Manager...owner...whoever he is was rude as hell! A coworker and I ordered the same dish...he wanted no green onions and I did. My coworker got his food...no green onions. Mine came out...no green onions. I stated I ordered my dish as-is and I did want the green onions in a polite normal tone. The owner takes the entire plate and slams it into the clean up bucket and tells the kitchen to remake it while scoffing under his breath. All that for green onions! He literally could have given me a small side dish of green onions! It is a garnish...it didnt have to be cooked in the sauce. A simple fix! His attitude was so disgusting that I questioned it and he was still nasty. At this point, I had enough. I told him f**k the food and give me my money back. The young lady at the register (I wont name her because her boss seems vindictive as hell) was so sweet. She apologized for his behavior and even offered to have the dish remade for me at no charge. I declined. I sincerely appreciated her doing that, but the sad thing is, she should not have had to apologize for him. Her behavior was more like a manager/owner than his was. Easily a favorite of mine. Being that it is a seafood joint, the prices are definitely fair, it's always packed everytime I've ever gone (which speaks to how good the food is), and the staff are always helpful and friendly. It's no-frills in here. It's a walk-up to the register and order joing and self-seating. Sometimes you'll have to keep your eyes peeled in advance to spot a table while you wait in line to order. My go-to's? - "Orleans Combination" - Crawfish Etouffee served w/ dirty rice or Shrimp Etouffee served w/ white rice & one item from "Fried Seafood" (I usually go with fried catfish) served w/ french fries & garlic bread. YUM! It's more than enough for me to finish and satisfying. The crawfish etouffee is better than the shrimp in my opinion - the roux/sauce of the crawfish is a lot more flavorful and spicy than the tomato-y based sauce of the shrimp etouffee - Seafood Combo - fried/grilled/blackened, depending on what you want. You can pick any 2 seafood items (crawfish, stuffed shrimp, shrimp, oysters, catfish) and it includes french fries or dirty rice. Another flavorful combo. If you get a chance, check out their happy hour too (Mon-Fri 3-7pm). I really like their hurricanes and the Bayou Swirl. The flavors with any of their food is solid. The fried items aren't overly greasy or oily either. All these reasons keep me a regular here. read more

As a girl born and bred in New Orleans, with a well-known chef in the family, I LOVE this restaurant!!! The muffaletta's and bread pudding are comparable to the best restaurants in New Orleans. This place feels, and tastes, like home. The Boudin balls are addictive, so be prepared to order them and want to go back for more. Even on Sundays with a fairly long line, the wait has been short. I've found that the line goes quickly and the food comes quickly as well. It is not a fast-food restaurant, so when I say quickly, I don't mean McD's quick, but not nearly as long as most sit-down restaurants. My family and I go every week or so. Quick Friday lunch. Soft-shelled crab po-boy: 5/5 - HUGE soft-shelled crab. The remoulade had the perfect kick to it. The bread was toasted yet soft on the inside. Crawfish cravings = satisfied. This place is super casual, laid back, quick, and yummy! Seeing as my boyfriend doesn't care to put in the work for real crawfish, we chose to go to Orlean's instead and get fried crawfish, crawfish etouffee, and fried gator. I LOVE the walk-up-counter thing- no waiters to tip, no one to rush you, etc! The customer service was friendly enough, and having Barq's Root Beer on tap is kind of rare, and was nice. The selection is extremely limited for a seafood restaurant. The prices were a bit high, in my opinion, and the portions weren't really reflected in the meal price. The flavor was good enough, though nothing spectacular. Their jambalaya was a little strange, in my opinion. It was very saucy, really more like a combination Étouffée. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't exactly impressed. Their booths just suck, and are completely falling apart. If a family with kids sits behind you, you will feel their every bounce directly on your back. Not cool. Other than that, the atmosphere is pretty nice. Not too upscale, but not otherwise run down. One thing that really makes their prices odd, in my opinion, is the fact that it's the casual-dining type model that does not include waitstaff. That's all well and good, and I actually prefer to get my own drinks when I need a refill, but $10 for a bowl of jambalaya in that kind of environment seems steep. Went for lunch during the week. We ordered too much between the 3 of us and they accidentally put down something on our order we changed out mind on...oh well, good excuse to try another new dish! We started off with the Fried Pickles & Rings which were nice and crisp. Then dove into the Campeche which is a little on the psicy side so beware if you're a wimp like me. I had the chicken and sausage gumbo but actually thought it was really heavy on the meat side. I think if I go back, I'd try the seafood one. All the appetizers and entrees are BIG. The whole Katy area seems to be booming with new restaurants. Sadly a lot of places tend to rack up huge wait times as Katy has a high family demographic. New Orleans's Sea Food is one of the few places in the area I don't have to wait during happy hour to get a table. The food is decent and there is nothing special about what they offer. I would not say its bland, its cajun food, but its defiantly not at the top of my list It's self served, but the staff is friendly when they take your order. I'm not too sure why there's all these rave reviews. Maybe I'm just being picky, but Orleans seems like a copy of a copy of a cajun/seafood restaurant. There was absolutely nothing that stood out. The place is set up like Boudreaux's. The food is either spicy or mild, with no in-between and no separate flavor. (Yes, sometimes mild and spicy are flavors and not just capsaicin measurements.) And, to be honest, it lacked a welcoming atmosphere. Actually, getting more frank with that frank thing, it lacked atmosphere. It was like a paint-by-numbers restaurant: serviceable, adequate, and seen a million other places before. I suppose I'll go again, but not if it's my choice. Katy has been lacking some good Cajun for a very long time. Actually they lacked a lot of things. Fortunately, as Katy grew... it started to diversify. The little strip that New Orleans Seafood Kitchen is in is an absolute gem! You have New York Pizzeria, Pho Mai (Vietnamese), Chang's Restaurant (Chinese), Buffalo Wild Wings, Texas Roadhouse (Steak... obviously), A new Japanese/ Sushi restaurant that I have yet to frequent, The Yogurt Spot (frozen yogurt), Slick Willies and a Whiskey and Cigar Lounge around the back. There is also apparently a Steak N' Shake in the works. If you are ever in Katy and you have no idea where you want to eat, just drive to the Gardens at Westgreen and play rock, paper and scissors to decide. It's all good. K... so I should probably talk about the food?? Yeah... So I moved from Katy a little more than a year ago, so I haven't gotten the chance to frequent New Orleans Seafood Kitchen as much as I would have preferred. I will tell you this though... Their Alligator Po'boy is amazing. That's right, folks. ALLIGATOR. Don't be scared... once they are dead, they don't bite. The crawfish is nice and spicy too! These are the only things I've gotten to try here, but that Po'boy was so good, I kept these guys on speed dial for to go orders.
