My mom was recommended this spot for Cajun food by her coworker. Not going to lie, I had mediocre expectations but was pleasantly surprised by this family friendly spot. It's a very casual restaurant where you walk up to the counter to order and find an empty table to sit at. The menu is quite large with lots of fried seafood basket, blackened fish platters, pastas, poboy, and other cooked entree options for very reasonable prices. I ordered a fried catfish basket with fries. The fish was flaky with a nice crust, the fries were standard. My family ordered blackened tilapia and grilled chicken platters and enjoyed them. The grilled chicken was moist, not dry. To top it off, we ended the meal with the bread pudding - while it wasn't life changing, it definitely hit the spot ! Overall we had a pleasant meal for good value, which is why I gave five stars. They also do daily specials, like Monday Senior discounts (20% off), and family Sundays (20%) if you bring a church bulletin (a little weird I know). I really like OSK. The shopping center where it is...is another story. The parking is terrible over there due to the number of restaurants, and as is typical for this poorly planned area of Katy, there are few entrances and exits to the parking lot. Someone please tell the designers out this way that too few access points create bottlenecks. Back to the review... It's a counter service type place, and they do not allow you to take a seat before ordering, especially when busy, but if you're not alone it's not much of an issue. It's typically clean, and the service is friendly. Any dish featuring their sausage is a winner. The sausage is the smokiest I've ever had and reason enough to order any dish it's in. I also like that you can easily add extra shrimp, sausage, crab, almost anything without issue. I also like their boudin balls and crab fingers. I definitely recommend if you like seafood, and we've ordered delivery too, and everything arrived packaged well. read more

Catfish is great with the sauces. Cornbread and hush puppies as well. The gumbo is decent BUT id have to say im very annoyed that they literally portioned maybe a tablespoon of rice to a whole bowl of gumbo. I mean literally its a very tiny to go condiment cup the rice came in. I feel as though that should be communicated in the menu. Long story short boil your own rice if you want the gumbo. Also don't waste your time adding shrimp to your gumbo. The shrimp were clearly frozen small shrimps and there were only 3 in the entire cup Boudin balls are a hard pass, they're gross! In response to the owners comment, the rice was not added on as a side. Whatever rice that is suppose to come with the gumbo didn't come with the bowl or cup ordered. The only rice that came were maybe a tablespoon noted in the picture below. Y'all should even be ashamed of yourselves even considering this a "side order" of rice. And please let's be for real about the extra shrimp I order with the gumbo!! What a joke! This isn't gulf anything. Straight from the freezer! I haven't had crawfish in a really long time, and I have mixed feelings about Orleans crawfish. I feel like overall its a good price for as much as you get, but the seasoning is really salty. I ordered the crawfish on Uber Eats. The crawfish at the top of the container wasn't that salty, and actually had pretty good a savoury flavour, but the crawfish at the bottom drowning in the liquid was just plain salty. It was alright. I have been a regular customer at Orleans for a while now and have always been greeted with amazing service! but this past Thursday there was this female cashier who just went out of her way to make my visit amazing. She recommend new foods to me (convinced me to get the salmon which was great), and also suggested I get the Strawberry Henessey drink. She brought my food out to me, and even came back to ask how everything was when I done. Then when I came back with my family on Friday for the live band, I also saw her again. If I am correct her name was Nisha or Nia? She was running around helping everyone out, but she still had a smile on her face when talking to the customers. I order a Big Easy to go and was a little disappointed with my food. My fish was fried to long it was well seasoned but not freshly fried it wasn't hot enough or crunchy. The oysters were not cooked their best either. The stuffed shrimp,fried shrimp,fried crawfish and French fries were good. I've eaten here when the food was delicious,just not all of it tonight. CS polite, but not overly exciting when I asked questions about the ingredients. No way for $30 did I expect the Commodore in NOLA, beware you might want to lower your expectations or go to Tads. The app was ok but tasted off like Doritos seasonings had been added. Was hungry, not hangry as no lunch had I had, and this was a dinner to be savored on the lake watching the egrets land. The entree looked like the crawfish that could not have even been caught on the Bow, appeared canned and teeny, funky looking. Size of app, and entree was ample, same as Pier 36, rice can cover many mistakes IMO. A piece of plain white sliced bread with garlic butter, wrapped in a piece of foil, say what??? No chunk of crusty bread to dip into the entree. The dips included not passing moi's lips. Nothing I have ever tasted like this... just saying no Trinity in the roux, even Old Bay could not help this snafu. I cook these dishes often, yes Emeril taught me well. The roux was not really roux, and no pralines in sight. Others may find it to their liking. I did not drink while eating what little I ate. No foodies need to tell me to call the mgr, the parking spaces not filled that says it all. Surely they will work this out or will be gone in less than 6 months. Cruel I am not, hungry I am! No alcohol that I could consume would have made this better. Comments from folks that worked a few doors down said it was like eating McDonald's Cajun, that was being kind. Went on a Sunday at 5 pm and it was pretty busy. I had a good feeling about this place with the great aromatic smell when walking in the doors. Walked up to order (you'll have to pick up your order too). I am happy with what I ordered but wish I had more room in my stomach (and pants) to eat more food. I started with a special bisque and then moved on to the Orleans Combo with the crawfish etoufee (little cold when it got to me) over dirty rice and fried fish over french fries. Hello I usually don't leave bad reviews but I want to save someone money. I order takeout shrimp and oysters plate yesterday. My order was ready 5 minutes within me placing my order. So when I picked it up it was of course cold and cold french fries are the worse. When I looked at my shrimp and oysters they looked over cooked and they were. So a quick minute in the microwave did nothing for my food. I lived in Louisiana for a couple of years have family there they shouldn't name this place Orleans it should be called Captain D's taste like seasoned Long John silvers. I guess I am used to authentic home cooked Cajun meals and I set the bar too high for this establishment. It wasn't horrible however, I was not blown away. The staff were all super friendly and helpful even during a rush hour, the food came out quick and hot. I ordered crawfish tales, gumbo, fries, and an appetizer. The crawfish plate was good although a small considering the price, the fry side was huge and delicious, the gumbo was disappointing. I got the sausage and chicken gumbo and although the broth was really tasty the meat lacked. The french fries that came with the meal were just warm and soft. Now for the fried onions. They were actually some of the best I've had in Houston. They had good flavor, were cooked long enough, and hot. The only problem was the breading liked to slide off. Yet, these were good enough alone to make me want to return. There was one thing that really irritated me. This is not a sit down restaurant where a server takes your order. This is a stand in line, look up at the menu to order, pay the cashier, get your own drink, and come get your food when the buzzer they give you goes off. Why are they asking for tips. I will say this location has superb service! We get this to go for our office every other week or so and they are always very quick with putting everything together and thoroughly check that nothing is missing and everything packed securely. I enjoy the chicken and sausage gumbo and the seafood gumbo. Love the jalapeño cornbread muffins. Today I ordered the crawfish bisque. In my opinion this made for a really great crawfish queso. It's very very rich. Also, I thought it was a little fun that the kitchen went a little rogue with the frickles as they are prepared sliced as a long vertical strip of fried pickle. When in Houston this is a must-eat-at place. People would die for this kind of Cajun/Creole food in California.....can't find it here. My son visited every year 9 years since he was a baby. Every year we fed him gator and told him it was gator, but he never believed it. Said it was chicken. This year, he finally accepted the fact he was eating gator, and ate half the plate. I love that Orleans offers an after-church discount when you bring your church program. Service at that time can be really good. If you try coming to Orleans in a Saturday night, service is essentially zero. On my last visit, we ordered crawfish for the three of us. Crawfish lovers know that the best way to eat crawfish is when they are hot. We like to order half to start with, then order another half later. Three pounds was quite good, but we didn't want to stand in line again for another 3. The boudin balls are outstanding and I wanted to take some of that awesome sauce with us, but didn't see any container lids. Again, forget trying to find someone to ask on a busy Saturday night. We have had team lunches here, I have brought my family here and have picked up to go from here. They are a place near to my heart as I am from Louisiana and they are pretty close to the food that I get back home. There is a variety of Cajun style dishes (including gumbo) although no one makes it like back home but very good just the same. You order at the counter and you are giving a beeper that goes off when you food is ready. There is also a bar on one side where you can get adult drinks. They also have a small patio you can sit out on when the weather is nice. They are located in a strip center with many other restaurants but that doesn't seem to matter they are always full.
