    Cute wall art

My girlfriend surprised me with a date here to make our own nail polish color! It was such a fun experience and Riyah was so so so sweet! She worked hard to perfect our colors and you could tell she was an expert. It was an intimate setting and I loved being able to really indulge in everything the store had to offer. I would definitely return and bring more friends. Such a cute and exciting time! Highly recommend bringing your friends for a fun time! Street parking is available everywhere. It's located in a good place to walk around too!

Such a cute/fun and unique experience! One of my Bridesmaid gifted me this experience and we had a fun time customizing our nail polish colors. They charge $24/bottle and she was a little disappointed that we couldn't actually make the color ourselves, but instead it was done behind the glass wall by the person working there. The price is definitely a little steep for what you get (the whole process is under 10 mins), but it's definitely a unique gift idea. The quality of polish is also pretty good, just make sure to get a good top coat ;) Personally I was really happy with how my color came out. My friend took a few tries to get her color right, but thankfully the person working there was able to get the color she was looking for.

I'm in love! I made an online zoom appt and made 6 colors. The mixologist works with you until you are 110% happy with the color! They explain the process & what different mixins will do to the colors. They are located in LA and shipping was super fast (to Chicagoland)! When I opened the package I was blown away! They were better than I could've expected! All the colors were exactly what I had in my mind! Oh you also get to name your polish! For the service & product I think pricing is acceptable (their bottle size .6 oz is slightly larger than the industry standard of .5 oz). They also ship each polish in a special container (collectible) so it won't break. They also have a physical shop in LA so if you're in the area go check it out!

What a beautiful experience! In the midst of all that's going on, this outing was beyond enjoyable! I made a reservation for my birthday to create custom Orly polish on a Saturday morning (the day the election was finalized- hence the polish name choices you see in the photo). Emma was the Orly lab specialist and she walked us through the entire process. We had the whole place to ourselves! She also took our temperature and provided hand sanitizer. I will definitely book again!!

If you're like me, finding the right nail polish color is a never-ending process- you think you've found the perfect shade...but then it dries to a different color- or the color is right but the formula sucks. Luckily Orly has opened a fun shop where you can customize your own shade and name it for $20- plus a complimentary manicure! The first step is using a touchscreen to pick colors/moods you like, then you can lighten or darken the color, then checkout when you have found the right shade. Don't worry, if you're not quite sure you picked the right shade you are able to give them direction while they make it- I chose a pink hue and wanted to make sure it wasn't *too* pink- the kind worker was happy to add more white and mix it a couple times then swatch until I was happy. I had the perfect neutral milky pink for summer! Next up was the free manicure, she did a great job and was meticulous so there were no smudges or streaks. Although I buy & use several nail polish brands, Orly is one I find offers the best chip resistant formula that dries nicely. After waiting a few minutes for them to dry they were done and I was on my way. Definitely stop by if you would like your perfect nail color and a little self-care time. They are doing special events too, check their website.

    Such a beautiful store.

Fun experience but wanted to offer some feedback. Pros: Experience: This shop is beautiful. It is a one of a kind experience and is definitely instagram worthy. Product Related: The polish is great quality, the shop is beautiful and naming and creating your own polish is truly a one of a kind experience. Cons - Suggestions: Experience: It wasn't as interactive as we thought it would be. They only have manicurists for special events. Maybe they can look into partnering with local nail shops on days when they don't have a nail technician on site. The first thing we wanted to do was see how the polish looked and a swatch on paper isn't very exciting. Product Related: They do not offer glitter. They only have about 15 base colors to start with and there's only so much dimension you can create with the number of colors available. Don't come in with expectations of a very specific color.

The colors we created: Miku Splash and Grape Latte

We came here at 3pm on 3/13/2021 for a Groupon appointment. This was our first time so we didn't know what to expect. The mixologist explained the process to us and we designed our own colors. I didn't catch her name so if management could let me know her name that would be appreciated. She mixed the colors after asking us questions on what our expected result was. It was exactly what we were going for. There was no tip jar and I had already paid for the Groupon. Ultimately, we left without tipping because we didn't know if it was customary to tip the mixologist or how to tip. Please let me know about tipping practices here. Overall, it was a fun experience.

This might actually be my heaven! Such a cute spot and easy to customize your dream polish! Worth the drive from San Diego!

So much fun! I loved how our colors came out! The person making our colors was knowledgeable and explained to us how different shimmers and pearls would change the color! They kept us in the loop and showed up every step of the way so we would end up exactly with the color we wanted.

Ask the Community - ORLY Color Labs

For an in person appointment, how much is it per bottle approximately?

    It’s $20 per bottle

Where can I park and do I have to pay?

Street parking. We don’t have any designated parking available. If you can’t find any spot on the street, USPS across the street offers pre-paid parking as well.

Does the Groupon deal include a manicure? It says it comes with a top and base coat.

Unfortunately not. If you want to set up an appointment for a manicure with one of our artists in residence, that’s separate. They are providing services on weekends. You can make custom colors ($20 each) from Tue-Sun.

How much is it to create your bottle?

I believe it is around $21, but if you bring in your own nail polish bottle to recycle, they give you a discount! My total came out to $17.50.

    Does ORLY offer gel?

When I visited about 2 months ago, the did NOT

Maneki Neko also operates a sister concept store called CATCH Little Tokyo located on the third floor of Japanese Village Plaza. [Parking]: As long as there are no special events in Little Tokyo, the Aiso Parking Garage (101 Judge John Aiso St) is your best bet. [Selection]: The shop has transitioned from primarily selling traditional decor / ceramics / cosmetics (which the shop still carries but in a smaller section) to focusing mainly on plushies and blind boxes featuring IPs like Sanrio, Pokémon, and other Japanese anime. Even though an officially licensed Sanrio store is located next door, Maneki Neko still has an excellent selection of Sanrio items that you can't find at the next-door licensed Sanrio store. [Conclusion]: This is one of those shops where I can probably find a Sanrio plush that I am willing to buy as a gift. It is a perfect example of a thriving shop that has learned to adapt by keeping up with changing consumer tastes.

The shop itself is on the smaller side, but they really pack a lot into the space. They carry a little bit of everything from snacks and blind boxes to household items and stationery. There's also a huge selection of Sanrio and anime merchandise, so it's a great place to find cute collectibles or small gifts. Whether you're shopping for yourself or looking for something fun for someone else, chances are you'll walk out with something. The staff has always been friendly during my visits, and while the store can get pretty busy at times, the overall experience is still enjoyable. Prices are fairly decent for the area which is definitely a plus. If you happen to be in Little Tokyo and enjoy browsing cute or quirky shops, I'd definitely recommend stopping by--it's worth the visit!

Every time I come here I always end up spending a couple hundred for big hauls because I want everything haha, but prices aren't bad at all. This last time I got a free diffuser as a gift with purchase! They also suggested buying these Japanese cough drops since I was headed to a concert (which - good looking out! was absolutely needed and helpful). They even checked the ingredients in Japanese to make sure that I wouldn't have any allergic reactions which was so sweet! Service has been consistently great every time that I've visited here. This last time I went was super early on a weekday though, so wasn't busy at all. It was shortly after they opened because I happened to have an appointment in the area and needed some beauty products for a trip. They were great with answering all of my beauty questions! The only con may be parking when it's busy or later in the day. I've tried coming here at night before but struggled to find parking when the lot was full and there weren't any spots on the street nearby. So definitely try to plan to come earlier in the day/when it's less busy.

However, I believe there is room for improvement when it comes to customer service. On multiple visits, I've noticed that one employee, who regularly wears a face mask, appears to follow me throughout the store while checking what is in my shopping basket. At first, I assumed it was a coincidence, but during my most recent visit, my friend noticed the same behavior. Being closely watched while shopping creates an uncomfortable experience and makes it difficult to browse at ease. As a person of color, this interaction was particularly unsettling. I hope management takes this feedback into consideration so all customers can feel welcomed and comfortable while shopping.

We were interested in stopping because it was our first time there and wanted to see it, however, we only had approximately one hour to explore. The shopping center wasn't too busy yet since it was so early, but also most all of the stores were closed as well. We did not get the complete experience of everything that this mall offers. A couple of bakeries were open when we visited and I am glad that we stopped! They allowed us to get some sweet treats and pastries, and they actually became one of the highlights of our trip to Little Tokyo! Although some of the stores weren't opened yet, it was great just to explore the area! All of the storefronts at the mall and surrounding Plaza were decorated for the holiday season. This brought an extra layer of charm to the shopping trip and helped create a cozy, festive ambiance! The quietness of the early morning hours created a amazing environment for us to walk through and enjoy our short little excursion to this beautiful shopping center! Although my visit was brief, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I would love to go back again, but next time during afternoon or evening hours when all the shops are open so I can finally see everything the Little Tokyo Mall has to offer!

I've seen Anime Jungle evolve and take over the entirety of the underground mall area. RIP to Fairytale Boutique, Fickle Wish, Xenon, and the day and age where Anime Jungle had their own dedicated shop for visual kei and J-rock. Never forget what you've lost. Other businesses have come and gone, like the mochi ice cream place. If you ever get mochi ice cream at the supermarket, it's likely from them and the macaron place that I loved, but alas, tis the world we live in. Other than the Anime Jungle that I go to and Little Akihabara LA for their pop ups and events, I also go to Monkey Pants, sometimes I swing into the Sanrio shop (they usually do the character meet and greets here, if not at JapanLA or somewhere egregiously far), Tokyo Japanese Lifestyle (they got staff POSTED there due to the thefts I'm sure, but I've gotten my bearded dragon keychain here and now I have them in all sizes), Catch (located on the 3rd floor and is MASSIVE for blind boxes and other goods), Neko Stop (I've gotten better deals here than the location in the Santa Anita Mall), and I've stopped in the Nijiya when I've been trapped there to get snacks or some bottled tea. Love the bakery there and the meat buns that they have (despite prices constantly rising due to the capitalist hellscape we live in) and the cafe to get affordable savory dango and takoyaki. The okonomiyaki place is one of the best, if not only places to get okonomiyaki at a place dedicated to the dish. Once in awhile they do a collab with multiple restaurants, not just at the mall too, such as Silent Hill F, Reincarnated into a Slime, during AX, Arknights, etc. Really drives the crowds and businesses here which is nice. Parking at the structure is a bit pricy and can get super fisted with bad drivers though, so keep that in mind.
