I've taken both of my bicycles here several times for service and they have always done a great job at a reasonable price. I recently took my Gary Fisher hybrid in for bottom bracket service, and the tech caught the stretched chain and I had them replace that as well. The people are very friendly and helpful - I actually enjoy going to this business. Their turn around times on service are a bit stretched out right now, but they are good at what they do which causes them to get pretty busy. Even though I've moved out-of-state, I found it necessary to go back and review this place since they worked hard for me! I ended up at OVB on several occasions over a short period of time trying to get 2 of my bikes up to snuff in order to ride again. I wasn't sure what to expect so I just took bike #1 in on first trip and asked them to check it over and replace tubes so I could go ride. They immediately started working on the bike and within 15 minutes they were done and I was on the road. They checked everything pretty well, explained everything to me along the way, greased up some stuff and did a few extras for me. I was so impressed that shortly after, I took bike #2 in for a complete tune-up and overhaul. They called me within two hours for pick up! The guys in the shop are awesome, always considerate, informative and helpful and the prices are very reasonable. If you're on the north end of town I would highly suggest this bike shop. On a side note, I asked, "why the name?" They are the second location for OV Bike in OV. Made sense but still confusing! Ride on! read more

I went to Oro Valley bike shop to see if their peeps can convert my road bike's drop bar to a flat bar. The guy said "actually it would be cheaper to just buy a new bike." So he suggests me to buy a $400 bike. I didn't even try to correct him or justify what I wanted. I was just amazed at how this place just pretty much blew me right off. Not coming back. I went to Pima Street Cycle and the guys just jumped right at my bike replacing the handlebars for me. They told me to pick up my bike in few days. That's a truly classic bike repair shop to me. read more

I came in with a disassembled shock because I was having problems with oil leaking and wanted to see where it was coming from. I asked if they can do a full rebuild of my rear shock and understand my problem that I have isolated. I gave them explicit detail if they could do the service I wanted because I don't have the tools (hence a bike shop) and I would have rather them say they couldn't have because they gave me a shock I cannot use. And they told me I could use this the shock in this condition (see photos). And I still ended up paying them $45. Granted they were nice however they didn't understand the service I needed or wanted. The pictures literally indicate they didn't do a good job. I don't recommend them for my application because at the end of the conversation they just said "well...send it into fox". I'm upset they could have just said that in the very beginning of our initial conversation instead of taking my money after the fact and maybe even ruining my shock by telling me it's fine. They might think I'm dumb because I am a girl and there aren't a lot of us but I know this is wrong. Sorry if you had a great experience here but I sure didn't and are paying my $45 for a bad review and photos speak volumes! read more

I've held off a bit for this one, but lately it's been bugging me. I bought an expensive bike that was too big for me last year, and soon after the purchase had a family emergency that took me out of state (father passed). When I returned (day 36 after purchase) I called them to see about exchanging the bike and was was told they couldn't do anything about it because I went over the time period... even though the bike was basically still new. I only bought there because they were the ones that had the bike in stock, but to be honest I didn't have a good experience. The sales guy wasn't very helpful / didn't provide any input into sizing, and even knew I wanted to put the larger tire size on it (which would make it way too big). It was just kind of a cold experience. Now I'm stuck with a very expensive bike that's too big for me and all they tell me is to sell it to the Pros Closet for half of what I paid... (approximately a $3,500 loss) on a bike that's still in new condition. I'm sure as long as you stay within the lines these guys would be fine, just not very friendly, but also not mean... take it for what it's worth. read more

Brought my stationary bike in for help putting on a new chain. Man at front counter, Eddie, realized it would be hard to store this item in the service area, so he went back and asked the repairman if it could be squeezed in since it was just a chain replacement. Repairman said something like, "Yeah, if you do it," indicating he wasn't going to do accommodate the request. Eddie, however, rose to the challenge and just started replacing the chain. I helped a little to hold things still, but Eddie clearly knew what he was doing and in about 10 minutes the chain was back on and I was on my way. Customer service at this level just makes my whole day better. Eddie certainly provided the best possible first impression for this establishment. read more

Bought our daughter a bike here for Christmas & we made it clear to the salesperson we would need to ship it back to CA a couple of days after. He said they could pack & ship it for $80. We decided to check it as luggage instead because it would be quicker & less expensive. When we showed up to pack it, they had no box available & the man who was helping me (I think he was the owner) was not at all interested in helping me until he thought he might get the bike back. Then he managed to scrounge up a beat up bike box with holes in it for me to use. He was really quite rude, saying things like he can't package up bikes for free since he's got to make money to keep the doors open...guess he'd forgotten about the money he'd made when they sold us the bike a few days earlier. And, I wasn't asking him to pack it...just provide a box which he stated they they throw away after unpacking the bikes. He had one of his guys help us disassemble the bike for shipping & the kid was fairly nice about it. So, we were able to check the bike as luggage which was great but I won't be going back there for any additional biking needs. read more

Called on Jan 2 at 1145 AM and asked if I could come by and have the mechanic pop out a stuck link on my chain while I waited. Clerk told me that I could do that if I came by store in next 15 minutes. Arrived at store and 2 young mechanics were helpful and polite in talking to me. One asked the head mechanic if they could fix it and he told them it needed to be checked in. When I told head mechanic that I had called and was told they would take care of it, he said he didn't care, and made no effort to find out who had told me they would fix it. He was arrogant and impolite with no sense of customer service. I hope he owns the store, because he ought to be fired. read more

I recently visited OVB's Sunrise store to get some parts for my Specialized Stumpy. Cory hooked me up with name brand parts at a great price and I received some outstanding feedback on the different lubes that I could use to keep the parts friction free. I also checked out some options for replacing the seat on my single speed. There was no pressure to buy; only good advice based on experience. A couple of months ago, my favorite floor pump died. After searching in vain for a replacement (that model was discontinued), I found a great pump in-stock at the Sunrise store. It had a large, easily readable gauge and the finer increments I was looking for. Awesome. I have found the staff at OVB to be friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. When I meet people looking for a bike, I suggest they check out OVB. It is my choice for a great local bike shop. read more

These guys were able to crank out two tune ups for me on my mountain and road bike in just a few hours. Normally it's about a day turn around but they were able to get two done in one afternoon! Knowledgable and helpful staff but most importantly, honest. They only charged me for one tune up because they said they really didn't need to do much to the other bike. Hard to find a place that is that upfront and honest. If you're looking for a killer mountain or road bike, a tune, or just some parts, definitely check this place out. I've been going to this location since they opened, taking my old Specialized Stumpy in for some love after I beat it up on the area trails....usually about every three of four months. It's usually something simple. I drop it off, Alex gets it up on the stand, tweaks a bent hanger or loose axle-sometimes it's more serious like disc brake issues or something I have no idea how to fix...then I have them top it off with a shot of Stan's in each tire...good to go for more thrashing. Many times even same day fixes. Recent shifting troubles found that replacing a cable was the easy fix. My 10 year old bike shifts like it's brand new. Worth every penny since I'd rather ride my bike than work on it. Thank you gents! read more

Bought my son a $330 bike on Wed at about 5PM. Got it home, rode for about an hour that day. Next day, gets out of school at 2PM, rides bike for about 30 minutes, front tire goes flat. Called next day and was told to bring it in so they could look at it. Brought it in, was told by JR (rude prick BTW) "thats az for you". Was told that he could put on heavy duty tube. I said OK. Since a charge was not mentioned I figured they were trying to take care of a customer. Took about 3 minutes to change tube. As we are walking out the door, JR comes running after me saying there is a charge for it. $9 for new tube and $5 labor. I will never do business with these morons again!!! read more

Poor poor poor customer service bought two new tires and tube and had installed the first day we rode I got a flat took the bike in and they wanted to charge me all over again for another tube, sealant and get this service when they just just serviced my bike two days prior...but this was not the first second nor third bike I had to bring back for service they did and did not stand behind they're work....they offer not quality service product nor do they stand by they're work...they lost my business for life. Prices are very high. Even with the 15% off they give on accessories, if you buy a bike, you can still beat their prices by far almost everywhere else. They are not flexible or accommodating. They did shabby work on my bike after charging top dollar and now i have to take it to another shop to pay to have it fixed. The service plans they offer on their overpriced bikes are a joke compared to other lbs in the area. I asked they if they would match the price on a helmet to another shop and they seemed insulted. So I took my business elsewhere and saved $60 on just the helmet. I suspect the workers there are on drugs. read more
