Tried the omakase and at $68 it was super fresh and nice combos of flavors for the price point! I'll for sure be back! If you need parking next door offers $10 for 2 hours because we all know how hard it is to find parking in Philly! The 15 course omakase was delicious with some creative standouts. Uni and scallop from Japan and super fresh the uni was actually sweet which was a first for me. The standout was their special salmon with cheese and onion mayo tripled seared. It sounds crazy but it works very well. It was one of my faves. The decor is clean and fresh and the space is intimate. Close to The theaters so a great peace to go after a show. The staff was great and very attentive! I'll be back!

Great omakase especially at the price point! Note it is byob and they do the cuteest thing where the staff pours your alcohol into little bottles that your party can share. This was probably the best lean tuna I've bad in the US.

i really enjoyed my experience at oroshi! i find that omakases in philly are a bit lackluster so i did not have the highest expectations but i'm glad i was proven wrong. $68 pp and a 10% discount if you pay in cash, definitely worth it! it starts right on time & it is a cute interior, table seating seems to also be available. i also appreciate the purse hooks. bathroom is located on the lower level. now onto the omakase, everything was so delicious! i am not a fan of omakases that throw in a soup or salad, and oroshi had none of that, which i appreciated. i absolutely enjoyed all of the different cuts of tuna, as well as the hamachi. fish was fresh and i appreciated that the fish to rice ratio was perfect. honestly everything was pretty good! they also did offer an add on menu with some wagyu pieces, my friend and i opted for the $25 wagyu and uni handroll which was so fragrant, i do wish there was a bit more uni but still overall a really good bite. the chef was so nice and thoroughly explained each item and refilled my ginger without asking :) also there was a moment where he indicated for us to record since there was a sprinkling of gold flakes, a fun little touch. overall, i would definitely recommend for a good omakase in philly and come back again, everyone was very pleasant & i enjoyed all the cuts of fish :)

Having two kids in college means "budget" anything will sound super appealing. I realize "budget omakase" will prob create interesting reactions for the food snobs, but I was all for it when my friend asked me if I was interested. I didn't realize there was discount parking nearby so I used SpotHero. We went for lunch and my expectations were sorta low. But the space was clean and attractive. Service was good and our chef did a great job creating. I'd come back to try their dinner. :)

Yay for an Amazing new omakase place in Philly that's affordable and accessible! Instagram shared this spot and I decided to pop in and give it a try. The price is $68 for a 15-course Omakase-style meal. The staff was very friendly as we sat to wait for our official seating, and we didn't wait long before we were sat with about 4 other couples. The sushi ranged from Black Sea salt and garlic yellow tail (my favorite) to eel that was cooked to perfection. The chefs were very fun, adding gold glitter to one of our dishes and keeping the experience light and fun! We had to order extra at the end because it was al so delicious and we even had some complimentary sake to boot! The space is fitting for this experience with room and more warm lighting in the eating space than in the front. I would definitely recommend!

Oroshi is what Sakana used to be. At $68, it's an affordable, budget omakase experience priced right so you can eat there multiple times a week. A number of workers from Yuhiro run the restaurant. Chef Lee from Sushi by Bou knows Chef Harada from Nakama, so both Oroshi chefs have great skills. Conspicuously absent is wagyu, but it's not an issue. I never understood why a seafood omakase is supposed to have wagyu. I guess it's for all the people out there who believe they're experiencing luxury just because they have a slab of beef in their mouths. If you're a true sushi lover, you'd rather have fish than beef. The sesame ice cream at the end is great; I don't even miss the wafer cookie at Yuhiro. Just like Yuhiro, each piece of nigiri is small - lady size and perfect for me - so bigger eaters may need more sushi at the end. It's a very similar experience to Yuhiro, but because there's no wagyu, some diners may feel cheated. However, you're getting King Salmon and also three different tuna instead of two like their competitors, so there's that. The final piece of tuna is really something special.

Came here last night for omakase and WOW! So so good at such a good price point! It was very comparable to the omakase experience I had in NYC that was double the price. Very clean and the food was as fresh as can be! Kind of disappointed I didn't get to order off of the regular menu, but I think that's just because I went on a Tuesday and they're closed for regular service on Tuesday's. My only big gripe was they don't tell you the pricing for the pieces at the end of the meal if you want extra pieces. I think those should be listed on a separate menu somewhere. Other than that, everything else was lovely!

Lovely service. Our waitress explained everything clearly and helped us pick when we couldn't decide. We sat downstairs and it was a tad bit TOO dark. I was nervous walking down there because I could not see and worried of missing a step. Other tables were using flashlights to read the menu which was valid. It was a comfy and sexy ambiance but the lighting could've been brighter and kept the same atmosphere. But I would definitely still choose to sit down there rather than any other seating options.

I dined on the bottom level both times. First, if you're dining on the lower level, take out your glasses. It's dimly lit...but dimly like on overdose. I had to turn on my flashlight to properly read the menu! I've tried several items -- gyoza, sushi, sashimi, oysters, and sea bass fried rice. I can't say any item was subpar. Service, on both occasions, was excellent. Overall, a really good time! Definitely try for yourself. Cheers!

I come here for happy hour every now and then because the prices are really great, and both the food and drinks are delicious. We started with the specialty cocktail and the Thai Punch, and both were really good. They had fruity undertones, and the alcohol wasn't overpowering at all -- I could easily have a few of these. For food, we got a few orders of the kung pao chicken wings. They were perfectly crispy with a really flavorful glaze. The portion size was also very generous, especially for the happy hour price. These are a great example of Asian-style fried chicken wings done right. I definitely want to come back and try their full dinner menu since I've only been here for happy hour so far. Luckily, it's not too far from where I live in the city, so I'll definitely be back!

TLDR: mediocre food and dessert. You will be rushed out and treated like a nuisance. Go if you…read moredeliberately want a short basic, salty meal and don't mind feeling rushed. The details: This place is WAY overrated online. It's amazing what a little publicity can do for a place... Honestly, I wish I had something good to say about it, but all I can say is that a couple of the dishes (mushroom shumai and salmon skewers) were just "okay". The fried items (spicy chicken bao, cauliflower) were greasy and tasted half burnt; they were clearly fried in old grease, which leaves burnt crumbs on the batter and also doesn't drain from the food as well. The short rib dumplings were salty and the meat was overcooked and mushy. Besides the poor quality food, I strongly disliked that (at a regular table with a dinner reservation) they asked for a card up front to "open a tab". Really?? That seems so weird and tacky. Very few people "dine and dash", so what would be the reason behind this? It felt especially "interesting" given the diversity of the patrons, if you get my drift. I've never been to a restaurant that does that, unless you're at the bar. Speaking of the bar...FYI They only honor the happy hour menu at the bar. The last thing I'll say is this isn't a place where you can eat comfortably and relax socially. They are literally at your table every 5-10 mins trying to get you out. It's sort of "tapas" style but they don't allow you to finish a bite before they bring the next item. We felt like we had to rush to taste everything before it got cold. To top it off, we ordered the $56pp meal thing and the dessert was 4 tiny, tiny finger-sized ice cream cones. They brought them out without warning, so they were melting right away...again, forcing us to eat or lose out. And of course the waitress brought the check out shortly thereafter. When I made it clear that we wouldn't be rushed out, she kindly gave us more water. I questioned her about rushing us, and she said they "run a high volume model". Lol doesn't every restaurant want high volume (I.e., more money)? But at the expense of service? I guess they found the sweet spot of mediocrity and profit that keeps the doors open. Maybe 10 mins later, the manager came over and picked up drink glasses and asked us how things went (another "hurry up") signal. It was truly bizarre. Unfortunately, I didn't get to finish telling him how terrible the food was because he had a nose bleed and had to run off, and didn't return right away. We just left because it was no longer worth staying around somewhere that made it uncomfortable for us to have a leisurely dinner. I definitely would never go again. I didn't take any food pics because none of it was appealing enough to make me take my camera out, and again, we had to eat fast.

We were a party of two and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. The Highlights: Quality: This is hands-down the best quality "all-you-can-eat" (AYCE) sushi I've had. Unlike other places where the fish can sometimes taste frozen, everything here tasted fresh and high-quality. Service: Our server, Jordan, was incredibly attentive and made our lunch even better. Menu: The miso soup was delicious, and the salad portion was generous. The fried calamari was also great, though the pieces were on the smaller side. While the chicken teriyaki was a bit disappointing, the rest of the meal more than made up for it. Value: At approximately $33.85, the AYCE price is a great value for the quality you receive. They also have an extensive ramen menu--while it's not included in the AYCE price, it looked delicious and is something I'm excited to try next time. Overall Thoughts: The restaurant was very quiet during our lunch visit, which made for a relaxing meal, though I imagine it gets lively during happy hour. I highly recommend checking this place out if you're looking for fresh sushi and great service!
