We have a BLAST every time we come here! The owners are BEYOND the best people, always accommodating, friendly & go out of their way to help out. Lots of arcade games, basketball game, skee ball, air hockey & more. They have an area with snacks, beer, seltzers & soda. They even have an Escape Room (I think you have to have reservations for that). They do a locals day for $20, you can play all day! (They post it on their Instagram). The facility is incredibly clean and there was a great variety of games both my 5 year old and 2 year old could play even though it was geared for kids a little older. Okay, so it's not cheap (nothing is these days). But the folks working there were super helpful in explaining how things work (and making sure we didn't get the wrong package). And I have to say, the whole facility was extraordinarily clean. Unlike most every other arcade I've ever been to. Highly recommended if you want to treat your kids (or yourself) to a fun time playing arcade games in a pleasant, clean, and bright environment. read more

This place is amazing! It's a beautiful space and has so much fun stuff. We have long been a fan of their other Escape Room establishments, but this space is unique and offers many activities in addition to the Escape Rooms. I'll be certain to bring the little ones in my family here when they come visit - they'll love it, too. I also want to mention the amazing ownership and staff, all of whom are thoughtful, kind, and friendly. They went WAY out of their way to work with my now-fiancé to coordinate an amazing surprise proposal that was storybook perfect. We are so grateful and will forever treasure this location! Finally, for my fellow Escape Room junkies: We did Mystical Manor and it was excellent! Lots of puzzles, fast paced and challenging without being frustrating. There are some especially creative moments embedded throughout and the set design was super fun - very immersive! We can't wait to try out the other rooms at this location. read more

Oscar's playground is one of one for places like this to bring kids in Monterey area. I have gone over a handful of times. While it is very fun there is still some troubleshooting for the business to do. The games break down and sometimes don't give the tickets that should be awarded. When getting prizes the kids can't really see what they are getting. The prizes are far away, and the system just doesn't really work. There aren't many games to play. The card loads are expensive, and the snack bar isn't the best. My family has fun here, because there isn't much to do like it. I am hoping Oscar's improves, and I will continue to visit. In response to the owners response: Did you leave an email so I can address your concerns about my review? I'm a patron that has been more than a handful of times. Last I was there (2weeks ago) your clown throwing game was disfunctional, the top row was not working.. the staff knew about it. A basketball game had a monitor that was not working. The game in the middle of the room where you dig for ticket bundles, only two sides work. The claw games are insanely unfair and no one is winning prizes because the prize bins are too full, the prizes are too heavy for the scamming slippery claws. The cost of arcade games are not my concern. I didn't open an arcade. I am aware of what it takes to run a business. I gave a fair review and I hope that the business improves. I didn't mention the teenage employees that haven't seem to be trained properly.. as well as the adults that are still figuring out the payment system. There is work to do. As I said I will support this business because my kids are happy there. There is also a wonderful "chill space" with games like connect 4 and tic-tac-toe. We appreciate. read more

Didn't like the vibe here. Small arcade, my family prefers bigger arcades like round one, boardwalk arcade. I didn't feel welcomed here. Looking at some reviews the owner likes to argue with anyone who leaves bad reviews. That behavior just solidifies my feelings about this place. read more

We chose this location to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The staff was helpful, and friendly. Beautiful views from every window. It feels like a museum, so much art everywhere. It's a perfect place to spend some hours or just stop by to play a few games. We loved it. read more

Oscars Playground is on the third floor of a building on Cannery Row. We had my son's 17th Birthday Party here yesterday. There were three escape rooms and we were able to rent out all of them for a one-hour slot. Before and after, we provided everyone game cards to use in the excellent arcade. We had all day access to a large room to which we brought in pizza, buffalo wings and salad from Gianni's. The room had a balcony, and views of both the ocean and mountains.For adults there is a bar with a selection of beers. We had 14 kids; this number kept fluctuating due to dynamic Thanksgiving travel plans and kids coming down with the current circulating viruses. Barrie and Christina were very accommodating. Our group of 16-18 years olds had such a great time they elected to switch up the escape rooms and go again. This had not been planned, but again the owners and staff rolled with it and everyone had a great time. For people planning to do the escape rooms, arcade and food, I would recommend renting the meeting room for the whole day rather than the 3-hour slot. Our party used the place for 5 hours. read more

I absolutely love this place! It's clean, the machines are all new and functioning well, and the games are SO FUN. The prices are also reasonable. I love that you can spend tickets on drinks/snacks at the snack bar! The people are SO friendly and so helpful too. This is a great place to spend an afternoon with kids, and if you're stuck waiting for a dinner reservation, there's no better place to kill 40 minutes! read more

We absolutely LOVED going to Oscar's Playground!! My husband and I were walking Cannery Row one night and he saw the arcade and we decided to check it out, about an hour before they closed. The owner was great and had good energy and was fun to talk to. He told us about the "unlimited play" for an hour (you can't win any prizes but the unlimited play was SO fun for us both). We had such a great time we came back the next day as soon as they opened. We met the owner's wife and she was a blast to talk with! We each got our own cards loaded up this time and stated for a few hours just having a great time! Some could say "it's not like Dave and Busters" well OBVIOUSLY! But it had ole Ty that kept us coming back. We loved the owners and they're energy, we loved the assortment of games and prizes/food to win! We loved the prices because the average game is $1/$1.50 and that's WAY better than the "$5 per round shooting gallery for 60 seconds" just inside all the shops 30 feet away on the water. We ended up going back again the day we left just to play and be in the atmosphere one more time. I have nothing negative to say about all our days there, I hope more people go explore and have as much fun as we did!! Owners: thank you so much for opening such a fun play on Cannery Row that's not just another expensive tourist trap we can't afford--my husband and I had a blast on our mini honeymoon and a great deal because of your fun arcade! My family and I went to Oscar's playground and we loved our experience there. The service was great and the owner let us know that they just opened up a few weeks ago. The games and machines were new and inexpensive to play. We spent $40 on a card and played multiplayer games for more than an hour, so it lasted it us quite awhile. After we were done and we redeemed our tickets, the owners gave us an extra prize. It really made our day! If you have kids and are looking for something fun and low priced this would be perfect! It's right in the middle of Cannery Row, so the location was close to everything :) read more

The owner is rude and very defensive of any poor reviews as you can see on Google reviews. Their business model is expensive for families and their customer service when there is an issue with booking etc is lacking greatly when it comes to making sure the customer is happy while being polite in resolving the issue. They do not serve food. You must rent a party room for up to 10 for $350 for two hours and the kids only get 1 hour of play in arcade included. Food and Escape room experience are not included. Seems pricey simply to rent a room to bring in your own food and what if you only have 5 kids? At other places including My Museum, Lynn's Arcade, etc you can rent out or just bring food in at no cost. The escape rooms are $30-$40 per person with no discount for kids or if you rent out party room. They don't offer to take pics after Escape Room experience. When they had the one in Salinas the customer service was amazing and pictures were offered and discounts too. Oscar's Playground is awful with how they treat people supposedly since they have so much traffic with the tourist they have forgotten quality is more important than quantity. I suggest taking the family to other places like the mirror maze, mini black light golf, bowling, pinball, or round 1 in Salinas or My Museum. This place is terrible in how they treat customers and nickel and dime them. read more
