Stopped by Oshima Ramen during happy hour and had such a great experience. Ordered the ramen and curry combo, and they even included free potstickers -- such a nice bonus. The food was delicious, flavorful, and super satisfying. What really stood out was the service. The staff was incredibly attentive, checked on us often, and had such a pleasant attitude the entire time. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers. Oshima Ramen has been in the Kapalama Shopping Center for several years but until this afternoon, I have not visited. They are open 1030a - 830p daily, the exceptions being Friday thru Sunday, when closing time is pushed to 900p. Lots of parking in the shopping center - lots of construction nearby on Dillingham Blvd. Requested their Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen. Creamy, garlicky ( is that a word? ), and savory without being too salty. Noodles weren't your typical Sun Noodle brand noods...a good sign. Small dining area that was nicely air-conditioned. Substantially thick noodles, nicely heated and perfectly seasoned broth has impressed me. It isn't easy to find quality of a bowl of ramen on a take out order as often the soup is too lukewarm by the time you take it home. Their fried rice is also well made. We entered the shopping center from the back entrance on Kaumualii St to avoid the construction on Dillingham Blvd. We were greeted upon entering with a pleasant hello. menus and water came shortly after. My wife ordered Fried rice with a side order of goyza. I had the Mapo Tofu Ramen. We were the only customers in the restaurant. After our orders were taken, our food came to use piece meal. First thre fried rice, than the Goyza and finally my Ramen The fried rice was average for a ramen shop. The goyza was on the garlicky side. The Mapo Tofu was tasty with a mild spice level. Sorry we took so long! We've ordered and eaten at all the places around Oshima's. Didn't even realize it was there until one day we were craving ramen. This is now our go-to place for ramen. First timers. My husband and I came in for lunch today, Monday@noon. I don't normally like Ramen at all but my hubby was not feeling well and wanted soup. He had the Spicy Seafood and I the Katsu Shrimp Ramen. Wow, so good. Seafood was filled with shrimp, fish and vegetables perfectly prepared. There was plenty of crispy tasty katsu shrimp, I will ask for extra choy next time because it was so sweet and crunchy. Broths were hearty. Noodles came slightly al dente and soup very hot. I hit the bottom of the bowl and thought how awesome a ramen meal could be. Service was excellent. Soup came out fast and young lady who was serving us was very attentive. Restaurant still looked new. Clean bathroom. Plenty of parking. The shopping plaza is well kept. Easy access to H-1. Perfect portions priced right with a friendly good-bye and a sweet smile. My hubby saw this place on yelp and shout out to Auntie Nadine C who went here and yelp this place. So we had to go and try them. Besides all the other yelpers who went before us shout out to you too. I wanted the mini gyoza set but I saw what it came with and said to my self it's to much if though the set consists of ramen, rice, and gyoza. I just ordered the fried rice and side gyoza. Even that was plentiful. The fried rice was to me a little salty maybe because of the sesame seed oil taste or the oyster sauce don't know. We stopped by for an evening meal recently and was really impressed with the taste, quality and volume of the dishes. I recommend the Mabo Ramen and Mabo Crispy Noodles (they do charge extra for deep frying the noodles, but it's worth it!) I'll be honest, I've eaten here many times before and it was ok, so I was initially skeptical about trying it after I read it's the same owners, but the cook or something is different. Improved! I thought I'd found a new ramen spot. It's the former Rai Rai Ramen, renamed, with the same owners. Lots of parking. The restaurant was clean and bright. The server was nice, although I had some difficulty understanding her a few times. The vegetable curry rice and miso ramen were not bad. The chicken katsu curry though wasn't my favorite. New spot thought my mother and I give it a try as we had a busy morning so looking forward to a nice lunch. Business looks clean. Worker greeted us and took our orders no problem. The ramen came out quick but the smell of the broth was odd had the tan tan and mom got the spicy beef. Ordered a side of fried oysters (the mistake) oysters tasted old and possibly bad masked by the heavy oil from the fry. Got home 1hr later vomiting and heaving up anything that would come out. Their takoyaki is extremely mediocre it lacks flavor,sauce and octopus. Its 99% batter with a small piece of octopus. Their gyozas are extremely over priced and very underwhelming. I got soggy tasteless gyozas, but their portion of filling was amazing. read more
