Rather disappointing. The house salad, while reasonably well-appointed with mushrooms, tomato, and onion, had a hint of the taste of rotten lettuce - while I didn't find any, maybe it sat next to some or was selected out of a batch of partially spoiled lettuce. Also, the mushrooms appeared to be from a can, not fresh. Perhaps I am wrong on that point, but that's how it looked. I don't know what kind of fish was used for the Carribean ceviche but it was very tough, very chewy, and sliced rather than diced. I've never had chewy fish before, and I didn't like it. They will not serve tap water, even though it is generally considered safe to drink here. If they want to be over-protective in this way, they should offer filtered tap water without charge. As others reported, service was rather slow - when we arrived there was only one other occupied table, and it took about 20m to receive two of our three ordered dishes, which were all salad or appetizer. Apparently the waiter forgot about the third, and I was actually hoping that she had, but she brought it about 15 minutes after the first two, with apologies. After presenting the check, I provided my credit card, and was asked how much I wanted to tip. That's odd. I told her (and tipped generously, because wait staff deserve a decent income). She went away and later returned with my card, without receipt. I asked for a receipt (of course I want to know the amount actually charged!) . She was unable to print a receipt at that point, so she printed out a register report and showed me the amount there. Really odd. The entrees are quite pricy $20 up near $50. read more

Service & Hospitality: amazing! We were just staring at the bartender make their Piña Colada. A gentleman started talking to us about how it's made, their food specials, and we decided to stay. Best Piña Colada we've had in a long time! They even give you a side of the pineapple if you order it that way. Food: We are locals coming from the US and we were born on this food so believe when we say, it's authentic. We got the BISTEC ENCEBOLLADO and both mamposteaos with tostones. When you first walk up you get greeted with a friendly smile and asked if you want to pick a pineapple for your drink. They slice it up and addled booze or none to your liking. We ordered the pasta dishes which seemed not so authentic but you will be surprised bc it has a Italian and Puerto Rican flair to it. The spices and seasonings are delicious and very much full of flavor. Making sure that you have enough time because everything is made fresh by order and you can taste that it's not no frozen or pre made meals. It's worth the wait! Dinner for two,pineapple picking pina colada was very reasonable around 50 with tip. The staff is very friendly and singing along to the music. Definitely my favorite spot in the kiosk. read more

Be prepared- you WILL wait for your food. We waited a solid hour, hour fifteen? There is one chef who personally makes all of the food. But, once it finally comes out, the food will please. The chucleta can can (pork chops) over rice was the highlight- it had just the right proportions of savory fat and lean meat- so tasty. I also tried that day's special- a grouper in creole sauce. The sauce was a bit too much for me- but that may just be a personal preference for fish without a heavy sauce. They serve a good arroz con gandules (a savory, slightly creamy rice with pigeon peas and pork-- not quite as moist as paella- but in a similar vein). Also, be warned- the portions are the size of your face- i.e. BIG. Cozy interior and colorful/fun backyard seating, gregarious/friendly staff. read more

Here was money well spent. hubby and I came for dinner on the suggestion of some friends. OMG. So we had appetizers very tasty and we orderd the regular beers that qunch the thirst, for dinner we ordered red beans and rice, he had the grouper with shrimp and I had the pork medallions. Yes it takes a while to get your food, but it didnt seem overly long and I already had been told its all cooked fresh.. the beans and rice were the best I have had in PR other then home cooked. I ate A LOT of B & R this trip. The pork was crispy outside and tender juicy inside, the grouper was very very tasty and the hubby ate it all I got one itty bitty bite! The waiter was very friendly and had lots of suggestions so we also ordered the paella for two,WHY NOT right its vacation.. holy smokes it was really for 4 people I think, LOL. In fact we took it back to the house and added it to the chorizo and eggs we had for breakfast (minus the shell's). Seriously I wish we had been able to come back for dinner a second night instead of trying so hard to get into La Parilla which wasn't really all it was cracked up to be. So go to Ossobuco it is a go to place on our next trip. read more

LOVED THIS PLACE! Our family of 9 was visiting Puerto Rico for the first time in September. This restaurant was five minutes away from our resort, and what a wonderful surprise it was. We came back twice because the food was amazing, The staff at the restaurant were very generous and kind, especially the guy who runs the place(Joe). I read that some people mentioned the time they had to wait for their food, but the food is cooked fresh and it's worth the wait, just have some cocktails while you wait! Incredibly delicious! We are staying at el conquistador and decided to come here because we saw they had Paella. It was very good! The red snapper was incredible as well. Service takes time but it's worth the wait if you are patient. It's worth it. Very friendly staff!!! We are not disappointed! read more

We stopped in here on a whim because of the large menu. I ordered the special which was grouper with shrimp and it looked delicious but was not so much. The shrimp and fish tasted exactly the same except that the fish was so very salty. Like--I'm going to have a stroke level of saltiness. My husband ordered mofongo and we asked the manager who took our order if it was mixed mofongo or just with green plantains. He looked at us like we were growing horns...He had to go ask the cook. Just struck me as strange. Regardless, the hubby ended up liking his dish pretty well. On top of that, you can't order water without getting bottled water. We asked because we drink A LOT of water and were made to believe that they offered bottled water for free since they didn't present another option. Imagine our surprise upon finding our total to be a good bit more than we had anticipated. For the price there are far FAR better options in the kiosks with better food, better service and better atmosphere. read more

If I could give it negative stars, I would. We walked around the kiosks to have something to eat. We've been to La Parilla and wanted to try something different. This place was recommended so we decided to go in in spite of it being completely desolate. That should have been the first warning bell. There were no customers, no waiters and no apparent staff aside from a rude rube who greeted us, eventually took our order and served our food. The food of course tasted as if this lone dude was preparing it himself...but we'll come back to that in a bit. Soooo. First we were asked what we wanted to drink, with the caveat that there was no liquor. Why, you ask? Quote, "the owner forgot to renew the liquor license". Wha-wha-what? Anyway, I'm driving and my wonderful wife pregnant, so why not... How about coffee? Nope. Not even drip. The rube now seemed visibly offended (after all why would you serve espresso at an italian place, the sheer thought!). Also, CC not accepted because "the internet is down". Okay. We ordered the bolognese linguini and the Michelangelo penne. And the house salad. The house salad arrived after 15 mins, even though we were the only table. It consisted of the following strange combination: crappy wilted iceberg, huge chunks of unripe tomato, wilted slices of raw champignon mushrooms, slices of white onion, pickled ginger, balsamic vinegar and an additional ketchup/mayo dressing. We probably should have left immediately... I had to walk over to get utensils. The pastas arrived after another 40 minutes. It should be criminal to serve food like this, because the restaurant is charging large sums of money for bad ingredients that cost cents at Costco. It's a complete scam. Here is what you would do to prepare the "Michelangelo" pasta: boil penne until they are heavily overcooked in unsalted water. To make sauce, take some frozen chinese-buffet style veggies (fist-sized pieces of broccoli, carrot, eg), some frozen shrimp and simmer them until warm in some crazy mix of lemon juice, oyster sauce and cornstarch. No garlic or wine detected. Then pour this entire snot-like mixture over the flaccid penne and serve. The bolognese was worse than served in Sbarro. Heavily-acidic canned sauce, unfresh-tasting ground meat. Flaccid pasta. This is not italian food. It is not even italo-american fare. This is no Maggiano's for sure. This is worse than college food or even Olive Garden which is a fast-food place. It's so bad you'd probably be better off eating a plastic burger at McD's. From the little my pregnant wife had she felt sick and dizzy... Again, the staff was just this one unfriendly dude. There was another dude who I thought to be the chef, but he ran out with his wife and kids somewhere half-way during our wait.... The bathrooms were nasty with no toilet paper or towels. Overall this adventure for 2 Michelangelos, 1 bolognese and 1 salad set us back $60. Needless to say we didn't eat the dishes beyond tasting them. I hope the money gets well spent shutting this place down. Considering the raving positive reviews from a year ago, perhaps the cooks and the entire staff just ran off... Just no. read more

One of the worst services I've ever had in my life. The owner was Rude from the begging, plus the food isn't really good

The best part of this experience, was waiting 1.5 hrs. for our appetizers to arrive. In the interim, after a long day of hiking in the Yunque forest we managed to consume 5 bottles of water and 3 beers, $9 in, still no food. Finally! The appetizers arrived, Fried plantains and mozzarella balls. They were fine. To illustrate the main dishes, here are some quotes from my family: "It was the worst pina colada I've ever had." "My hamburger wasn't bad" "I assumed that since it was $19 it would taste good." "Maybe it took so long because they had to thaw my fish?" "That sauce was corn starch, with a little bit of lemon flavoring" "At least the capers are good, do you want a caper?" I would say pass. Cereal would be better. read more

This place was great! We stopped by on the way back from El Yunque and after checking a few other places out this one caught our attention with their seafood paella. The paella was amazing and waitress was very prompt and friendly. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a seafood dish! read more

Stumbled upon this kiosk tonight on our first night in Puerto Rico. We had already hit a couple places up for some bites but I couldn't their shrimp in coconut sauce. It was even better than I thought it would be. We also got the bruscetta, a Pina Colada in a pineapple and a large portion of rice and beans. Pretty neat idea to pick your own pineapple and they make pins colada out of it. A tad pricey for the amount you get. You can ask for the leftover pineapple they don't use. Extra price for alcohol of course but that doesn't stop me from adding some booze on my vacation. I chose a good pineapple...sweet. Sucks they pull off the top of the pineapple. Typically you can tell if a pineapple is ripe and sweet by pulling the green leaf part. If it's easy to pull off, then it's sweet. My second method was just to choose the heaviest pineapple. It works. I like the concept but the price is too steep. read more

Food was good, but not great. Read the description carefully because its not the same italian you get in US. We had bruschetta which had beans topping . Verify your checks, as we found they charged us 16% service tax instead of 7%. I dont mind putting extra bucks for tip but We felt like cheated when they had wrong service tax. read more

Had dinner here with 5 others, one table. Food was of good quality, server was solicitous. But the wait! One and a half hours for the appetizers, nearly 2 hours for the last of the main courses to arrive. Why say the "last" of the main dishes? From the first person served, until the last person's dish arrived, there was a gap of about 15 minutes. We all had to encourage each person to "dig in" as they were served, rather than wait for everyone to be served. Full disclosure about the wait: when being seated the host did say that there was one cook and there were several tables ahead of us. Ok. Food takes a while to get to you but is very good. We got the pastas and they were very good and reasonably priced and good portions. Also for kids the chicken strips/nuggets could be split between 2 kids and very good. Tried the pineapple colada tasted good but not much alcohol. Refills on drinks are also not free. Amazing food and great prices. Excellent costumer service. The place was empty which makes me wonder why. This is why I decided to write a review. More people needs to know about this place and come more often. I had an appetizer made with sweet plantains cheese and sauce. It was amazing! Then the main course. It was chicken breast with potatoes and veggies. Wow. Just wow. It was that good. The portions were perfect for the price. I read other reviews here about the water. They do give you bottle water and you have to pay for it. I read another one about the portions. At least in my case, everything was plentiful. I paid $35 for an appetizer and 2 plates for us 2. Everything was very good and very well made. Flavored were amazing. If you want to try some puertorrican flavors, this is the place to go. I will definitely come back. read more

Out of all of the restaurants in the Rio Grande area, his one had to be my favorite. From the first bite, I could tell that this was high quality food. The staff was nice and provided us with knowledge about what kind of food was in season as well as what they meant. If you are ever in the Luquillo part of Puerto Rico, I highly recommend this restaurant to eat in. Thank you to the staff to make this eating experience one to remember! read more
