The elder lady specifically disrespected me and dismissed me with a clear and emphatic look of scorn before turning her back on me, assuming I'm American (a crime?). An embarrassment of a hospitality owner or employee. I've been all over this amazing country and have only had wonderful experiences... including tonight at the place we went to down the street after this debacle. I was speaking Italian, so certainly no communication problem, and this rude old lady came in and said, "Table for 5?! Hah! This is not McDonald's," and walked away. Wow. Shame on them. Plenty of other good options. First negative restaurant/interpersonal experience ever in this country after coming here a dozen times over the past 25 years. read more

This place was amazing! As an international traveler, you get the authentic Italian feel and the food was also amazing. The serving staff was super helpful in food selection and the seafood was extremely fresh. Would highly recommend visiting this restaurant. You won't be disappointed. read more

Charming setting and that's where it ends. Tourist trap that serve sub par food. Ravioli box bought and shrimps were frozen in my ravioli, lemon dish. Couldn't even get past two bites. My husband tried to order the shrimp scampi was told to order the lobster scampi instead. Lobster was definitely frozen and basically no lobster inside the shell. The bread was stale and the service was the essential cliché, Italian bad attitude. I came here twice during my stay. Both times I was not disappointed. The tiramisu and melon-cello were homemade and deliciousness.

Great service, amazing food. Small establishment, it seats about 25 people. The kitchen is visible from the dinning room. All dishes were delicious, the simplicity and freshness of ingredients made this an unforgettable dinner. When in Salerno you must come by! read more

Excellent place for dinner! We went for a fairly early dinner and had called to reserve, but there were no customers when we arrived probably around 7:30pm. We ordered a pasta with zucchini, cheese and pepper (their version of cacio e pepe, if you will); black rice with seafood in a cream sauce (it's called risotto, but not what I'd typically call risotto); and calamari - everything was delicious! We also had a glass of their house red wine, which was very good. At the end of our meal, they gave us two small shot-sized glasses and a bottle of meloncello, which was a perfect way to end a great meal. It's a small restaurant with some outdoor seating, so I'd imagine it can get crowded later on, but it's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area! Also, the pictures of the outdoor seating looked pretty nice, but it's in a fairly tight alley, so we decided to sit inside. read more

Chose because other place we wanted to go wasn't open yet for lunch. Got fried shrimps and calamari to start. Calamari was great! Shrimp weren't peeled so didn't love them (maybe an American thing). After that had spaghetti alla carbonara after and it was a huge portion and was good. Asked for natural water and got a glass bottle from Ikea that looked like it had been filled from spout but tasted fine. Also got half litre of red wine and that was delicious. For dessert we asked the waitress to bring two of her favorites. Was way too sweet for me but the girl with me finished. Served complimentary lemomcello. read more

Amazing food. Traditionally prepared southern dishes with an understated decor. The place is run and managed by a husband, wife and daughter. Now this is true Italian food! We happened upon this small, family-owned restaurant hidden in a beautiful alley while shopping, and thank goodness we did. The servers were wonderful, gracious, and prompt, and the pasta was to die for. It was fresh, al dente, and extremely flavorful. They also brought us red pepper oil! We haven't been able to find that anywhere. I got the trofie with pesto and clams, my mom got the paccheri with pumpkin flowers and shrimps, and my dad got orecchiette with courgette and shrimps. Every dish was exquisite! We finished the meal off with a wonderful tiramisu and pear and ricotta cake. The cake was a little sweet for me, but the tiramisu was truly perfect. Heads up! The stars are for the service, not so much the food! This was our first meal out in Salerno and had awesome reviews so we had to give it a try! This place is Lacoste's a little off the main strip in Salerno in a back alley, where the restaurant and its tables are found. The ambient lighting made it feel cozy even though we were outside. Our waitress was amazing. My boyfriend ordered an octopus appetizer, (I didn't eat it because I'm not a big fan) and found it hard to eat since it was cold and he wasn't expecting it. We ordered an asparagus pasta and a seafood pasta. We didn't really enjoy it, I think mostly due to the al dente nature of pasta. (We found out after this meal we don't like pasta cooked al dente. We like it cooked all the way.) we ate some of it but left a lot of it untouched. Our waitress came back and knew we didn't like it, asked if we did and we insisted that we were just full. If you like authentic, fresh and al dente pasta, this place is for you! Sadly, my boyfriend and I didn't like it; however it doesn't mean it's bad, it just didn't suit our taste. After the meal, she brought out a bottle of limoncello and cream meloncello on the House. It was so good! And a nice gesture after the whole meal. We had problems with our card working so she was patient while my boyfriend looked for an atm and was able to ring us up afterwards. The food wasn't great, but the service definitely made up for it. We stumbled using this place accidentally I'm so happy we did. Family run, husband and wife are making food to order in the kitchen and their daughter is the waitress. They have one other young waitress who speaks a little English as well. My pasta, paccheri con tonno (tuna) was cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly and was maybe my favorite pasta dish that I had in two weeks in Italy. read more

Food was wonderfully seasoned, didn't even need salt. Waitress brought over bowl of soup to explain when we had a language barrier so we could see what was offered ( octopus in tomato broth instead of octopus salad, which was delicious). Caprese with some of the best tomatoes we've had and mozzarella di Bufala with prosciutto; fried calamari (beautiful!); clams and pasta with asparagus sauce; large pasta with cheese and tomato sauce; a large basket of gorgeous bread served with a lovely local, crisp white wine; topped off with complimentary limoncellos and meloncellos. We were the only tourists in a local group. Would love to return if opportunity arises. Small but cozy, outside alley tables available for overflow or more privacy. Excellent little restaurant on a small cobblestone street in Salerno! We ordered the Caprese salad and the tomatoes tasted as if they were just handpicked from the garden! The mozzarella was to die for, so moist and delicious! I ordered the spaghetti con vongole for dinner and it was perfect, pasta was al dente and the seafood tasted so fresh. The owner gave us complimentary meloncello after dinner which was spectacular. We will definitely come back here on our next visit to Salerno! read more

Maybe we caught this restaurant on a bad night, but the food was pretty bad. To start the wine was spoiled, the shrimp in my meal was old, and my girlfriend's dish had gritty unwashed cilantro. I would not recommend this location. read more
