The food is very good and the service is great. it was a little bit warm would give 4.5 stars for sweating but honestly 5 is fine. A lot of reviews are complaining about the "hidden fees" its 2025 and youre at a place that is not snooty, with attentive wait staff and delicious food, just pay the gratuity its one of the few places that share tips with the cook staff and having been a cook they are never ever compensated fairly. I used to come to this restaurant all the time when I first moved to Denver and I have not been back since Covid. Last night my family was in for Thanksgiving and I took them there for dinner. It's even better than I remember! The atmosphere is so warm and inviting. The service was incredible! But the food is just out of this world. We ordered the burrata because it is a staple and you can't go there and not order it lol. Between the five of us, we had pizza, pasta, risotto and all of it was insanely good. Super high-quality. My brother used to live in Italy and was very impressed with everything that was on the table. I just love this restaurant and hope we get to keep it forever here in Denver! My husband and I went to dinner here for our anniversary and we were so impressed by the food! We started with the burrata which is made in house daily. It was incredibly creamy and perfectly seasoned with olive oil salt and pepper. It came with delicious grilled bread for dipping, which was fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Osteria Marco is situated nicely in Larimer Square. I have had several meals here including at the bar and I have yet to be disappointed. Let's talk about the food...My go-to is the chicken parm sandwich which is pinned between two beautiful pieces of focaccia bread that they make in-house. I love the burrata and the devil's on horseback for appetizers! The sandwich is nicely portioned so don't be surprised if you don't finish it! The service has always been very thoughtful and prompt! I have never had a bad experience. You take a nice little trip down the stairs which kind of transports you to a cellar vibe where you can escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a quiet date or a rowdy after-work dinner with friends! Whenever we go out to eat, we critique the restaurant based on its cost to food quality ratio. This is a bit of a complex review for me because the service was on point, but the food was slightly above average and I am being generous. I got the squid ink crab pasta, which was woefully under season. The wife did like her Gorgonzola and fig pizza, could've use more figs, but that's just picking nits. What kind of bothered me about? It was a mandatory 22% gratuity and the fact that you have to pay a deposit to make a reservation. Opportunity is calculated on the bottle of wine that we purchase which is not customary in the restaurant world so we don't have much control over our bill. One bottle of wine at $54, one cocktail for the wife and our entrées plus the salad was a $201 bill and the food did not live up to that cost at all. Extremely disappointed! After a beautiful spa experience across the street, we decided to grab a bite. It was about 12:15, the restaurant was not filled. Four of us took a table outside , there were no umbrellas available so we were in the sun. When the table next to us left (with an umbrella) we moved all our things over and the hostess came running out to say that table was reserved. There were no people waiting, we apologized and moved back, she then came back within 2 minutes to say we could take it. Ugh, we finally got our drinks and ordered, we literally waited an entire hour. Not a soul came by to refill drinks or let us know about our order. Our waiter even walked around other tables to avoid eye contact ,when I finally got his attention , Leopold abruptly said all is good, it's coming. we ordered paninis nothing special!! The bill came and there it was , 22% added to the bill. When a tip is already included it clearly gives the wait staff a green light to be non attentive. The food was not worth the wait. Its been a while since I've been here and the menu is not the same and Frank has made some changes to some items that are a little disappointing... but I will always make my way here to see what's changed. This is a nice restaurant located on sixteenth street mall right across from comedy works which was convenient. There were some patio table seating outside and lots of seating inside. The restaurant is in a basement. There are too many things on the menu! We started with a buratta cheese appetizer. The cheese was alright but the bread was burnt and crunchy. I got the mushroom pasta. It was light but tasty and flavorful. The portion including the buttata bread app kept me comfortably full. This place is pretty pricey. I think my pasta was $28. TL;DR: bad service, incredibly overpriced, mediocre food Pricing: We paid a deposit of 15$ per person to make a reservation, and still ended up waiting a few minutes before being seated. They forgot to subtract the deposit from our total bill, which is apparently an issue that happens very often! Not only that but they include a 22% extra fee which we assumed counted for tip. Every dish was overpriced (20$ plus for mediocrity-- see next section.) Food: The food came room temperature, and in very small portions for the price(about a handful of food per dish). Not only that, but the food was quite mediocre! The carbonara wasn't smooth, the crab cakes were WAY too fishy, and again, everything was served cold. Service: This was probably the most frustrating service experience. We waited around twenty minutes just for our server to greet us! After that, it took 15 minutes for our appetizers to come, and what felt like forever for our entrees to be brought to the table. Our server was very nice, but that didn't make up for the lack of attention, and we were hangry and tired by the time our food came, which felt especially unreasonable because of the 22% required gratuity. read more

I tried contacting the restaurant first about this but they didn't respond so I feel it's important to leave this info in a review. Beware that they charge an automatic 22%(!) tip/hospitality charge no matter the size of your group. I find this to be insulting and outrageous. Adding gratuity to large parties is understandable but even then the max any restaurant should charge is 20%. I did not see a sign or info on this automatic 22% (+ another 1% for something else) on their menu. We only learned of it after dining and as we received our check. Our service was good, food was also fine and we liked the wine selection. We would have tipped really well but learning that they took it upon themselves to charge us 22% left such a bad taste in our mouths so we won't be returning. On our trip to Denver, we stopped in Latimer Square for a bite to eat. We were craving Italian so gave Osteria Marco a try. Just a head's up, they currently ask for proof of vaccination to enter. We had about a 35-45 minute wait at 7:30pm for 4 people, so not too bad. I'd recommend making a reservation in advance if possible. The hostess was very friendly. I absolutely love pizza and they have a wide range of specialty options that I haven't seen other places. I got the fig and Gorgonzola pizza and it was SO GOOD. It comes with a white sauce on it. The crust was crispy but not burnt. The fig paired so nicely with the Gorgonzola cheese. My husband got the lamb meatballs and he really enjoyed them too.
