I'm a first timer here. My friend has been raving about it. It's her Birthday week so we decided to go. Thursday night. Got there for Happy Hour Ordered drinks and reviewed the menu. So many great things. Our fabulous server was attentive and was always checking on us. Asked if we wanted another Happy Hour drink before it ended. Absolutely. Few minutes later she came back and said.. sorry ... it's over.. I couldn't do it. ( we didn't care.... but why ask us if we want another Happy Hour drink if it was over?). Saturday night, my husband and I were bored and we did what we do best and decided to go get something to eat. I bookmarked this restaurant while ago, but haven't been able to since the whole apocalypse occurred and wasn't sure if it'd ever be able to see it. With a neon "Mangria" sign adorning the walls giving a cool blue hue to everything, and the Spanish tile covering the bar area contrasting the blue with a warm feeling, I liked the modern vibe of this restaurant. All staff was wearing masks. The restaurant was really bustling when we first got there shortly after 8, so the staff was working hard trying to keep up, but as we hung around with our cocktails and appetizers and patrons started to leave after eating and hanging out, we then had the bartender, our waiter Phillip, and a super nice young gentleman (but I didn't know his name) constantly checking up on us. We were in no hurry so it didn't bother us. Cocktails: The Buffon - this cocktail reminded me of their take on an Old Fashioned. Bourbon, butters, and all. Being a bourbon fan, I liked this. The Versace- Pink and fruity with vodka and some spice. This has vodka mule type origins and of course it was refreshing and enjoyable Grappa- they do not have this yet, but I was dreaming of it after because we ate so much AntiPasti: Cocoli- fried honey covered pizza dough balls (almost the texture of doughy pretzel balls) served with prosciutto and honey. Very dessert- like to me but I love prosciutto so we ordered It Elote- my favorite appetizer! I love elote with Mexican food, so what made this different? Ricotta cheese! And they sliced the corn into bites so it was easier not to get corn and cream all over your face! So great and so thoughtful! Pasta: Squid Ink Bucatini- dark hued homemade pasta covered in mussels, shrimp, calamari and white wine among other ingredients. This is one of their proud specialties! I loved this. I had to protect it from my husband trying to steal bites. Campanelle- pesto covered pasta. My husband added chicken to make it more hearty. We liked it a lot too! Dessert: Cantaloupe-Mint granita- Italian shaved ice served with thick and yummy vanilla cream. Very light and refreshing. I'm not a cantaloupe fan since it makes my throat a bit itchy but I didn't even notice the melon much at all. This was so good and perfect after dinner. (We wanted the Lavender honey Creme brûlée but they were out!) Everyone there packaged some of left overs with such care for us, but we were dumb and forgot them on the table. We had nightmares about not being able to eat them the next day! So much regret! Thank you everyone at Osteria Mia for providing such a wonderful evening for us! We look forward to coming back soon! And by the way, one of my best friends is vegan and I noticed that you guys have vegan friendly dishes available and I appreciate that. Solid bites and nice ambience; Osteria Mia on the North side of town really impresses. I came with some friends after doing some indoor climbing down the street so we were famished. Osteria Mia has a full bar with great selection of local brews along with your typical wine selections. The place itself has a modern vibe with high ceilings for an open feel, and a great stereo sound system cause for a while there; I thought it was live music! Moreover, for our food we started with some Fritto Misto, tempura battered squash, zucchini, and artichokes with a lemon zest aioli. Crunchy bite to the start! For my entree I ordered their Arancini, fried risotto balls with beef on a bed of tomato sauce. It was warm to the bite and had a slight crusty shell. The sweet tomato sauce paired well the subtle beef and salty risotto. In the end, Osteria Mia is in a prime location of Norterra shopping center. Fast with good quality pizza. Service was prompt and friendly. It is tucked away from the other restaurants, so when we went it was quiet.

AMAZING. The food was so good, like shockingly good. The staff was super knowledgeable and gave great suggestions. I see reviews about being over priced but I felt like the price was very good for the quality and amount of food you get for it. We got a couple of appetizers, a salad, pasta and a pizza along with two glasses of wine and a mixed drink. I told my husband I wished the portion size was smaller so we could have room to try more food. For two people with tip it was about 140. $104 for the food and drink. The saltiest pasta I've ever had, borderline inedible. Waited 15 minutes after sitting down before ever being addressed. They gave us free desert for the salty pasta so I gave them two Stars. I just felt the need to post again. I've now introduced this restaurant to my parents and a bunch of my co-workers, many of whom are now consistent customers. I believe I've now eaten here about 7-8 times, and every visit is just a treat. At our last visit, Osteria Mia had introduced some new additions to their menu. I tried the crab-and-ricotta ravioli...oh wow, this is good, and the sauce has just a little bit of a spicy kick to it. But, the skillet cookie is absolutely amazing, I think it has a butterscotch drizzle on top, and my family was almost coming to blows fighting over who got the last bite. I can't recommend this place more, I just feel bad leaving good reviews because, at some point, it's going to get harder for me to find a table! read more

I have been following Mario the head chef and owner of this fine establishment on social media. From posts about potential recipes to how the family was putting together the final touches in the dining area before opening. It is such a inspirational entrepreneurial story of staring a Resturant in the time of COVID. Opening a Resturant in the best of times can be quite a challenge. I decided to come up and see if the food was as fabulous as the photos online. Upon arrival the Resturant is extremely clean and all the safety protocols are in place. I felt extremely comfortable dining in. Everyone was wearing a mask and social distancing was enforced. When it came to the food I was definitely not disappointed. I was just blown away with how good the food was beyond the presentation. I decided to try the Squid Ink Bucatini pasta dish. It has clams, calamari and shrimp in a white wine tomato sauce. The pasta itself is made with squid ink that gives its black color. I was pleasantly surprised about how light and flavorful this dish turned out. The salad and dessert was also very good. As for the Resturant itself it was hip and inviting. Just the perfect place to have dinner and catch up with a dear friend while in town. We had a lovely time catching up over food and drinks. Another wonderful aspect is that they have a pasta making room where you can see the daily pasta that will be served with your dinner. You go places for Italian food but here pasta is taken to the next level. They even have where you can buy some to take home as well. I live in Tucson and this place was well worth the drive! I love trying new restaurants and Osteria Mia has only been open for dine-in about 4 weeks. The facility is clean and very modern. The tables were spaced well and there were no masks if that is important to you. The bar is really big and you can tell they are still sorting things out. Our bartender, Shannon, was super friendly and on the spot for what ever we needed. We had drinks and a build-your-own charcuterie plate. The cheeses were delicious and the bruschettas were tasty too. I will say that the tomatoes needed salt. You can never over salt a tomato!!! We cant wait to come back and try the pizza. I would say that Osteria Mia could become one of our favorites at Norterra. read more

It was okay. Not a must try. Been wanting to try this place because there's such a lack of Italian in the west valley. We waited about 50 minutes on a Saturday and weren't super impressed. The Cacio e Pepe was bland and had such a skimpy amount to the serving. Pepperoni pizza came out burnt on the edges. We saw other pies around the restaurant that weren't burnt. No apology. Honestly, the service was good and the waitress and hostess were really nice. The food was just SO MID though it does NOT justify the price. $75 just to have some mediocre "Italian" food. I had the campanelle and tagliatelle. It would have been good Italian food if you've only ever eaten Chef Boyardee for your whole life. The pasta was crunchy on the ends (undercooked) and the onion soup tasted like it came from a soup packet. You could make better sauce with Ragu and some garlic powder. The ambiance was nice and the rest of the staff seemed friendly but someone with her attitude probably shouldn't be the person that's up front. I also spent $20 on pasta for this small of a portion. Great food at lunch and dinner services. Almost every-time we have gone, waiting for a table isn't too bad (weekdays); weekends tend to be extremely busy. Food is always fresh tasting; love their sandwiches, salads and pizza! Depending on day and time, weekdays during lunch are quieter but weekends or weeknights when sports are playing tend to make for a louder environment. This hidden gem tucked away in Norterra is absolutely incredible! The food was phenomenal, starting with the bruschetta board--an absolute must-try. We sampled six different varieties, and my favorite by far was the fig jam and prosciutto. For the main course, we enjoyed a delicious pasta dish that left us excited for lunch tomorrow. I couldn't leave without taking home a piece of the lemon ricotta cheesecake and a pistachio cannoli--I can't wait to try them later! This will be a follow up to a previous review. In my past review I reported that after we were seated we waited and waited and waited for service. After waiting a really long time we had had it and left, with people saying thanks for coming. I was contacted by the owner apologizing and asked for me to private contact him using an email address he supplied if I was interested in a "no risk" opportunity to have a better experience and update my review to one more favorable. I did email letting the owner I'd be happy to give them another try. I also asked for a clarification of "risk free". Well, I've been waiting and waiting, and waiting for a reply. Nothing yet. I came here during Covid with my family and was really excited to try it out. They were great on service and on Covid precautions and I was so happy to be out again at a restaurant. Greats: service, wine, fast time to get food, amazing bruschetta. Negative: my pasta was crunchy, as in undercooked. Returned to try brunch. I knew their pasta was not great, so I got the pizza. It was very good. Tasted like it was in a fire stove. Negative: worst Bloody Mary in my life. I'm pretty sure the tomato juice was bad so I sent it back. My kid has the avocado toast with egg and loved it. I ordered coffee after the Bloody Mary issue and it was good. Decided to come here for a date because it looked like a nice menu and the place had a fancy name. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you get more of an "upscale" mall cafeteria vibe. Never in my life have a felt so over dressed to eat Italian lol. Was looking forward to trying the squid ink pasta dish. They were out. The best thing on the menu was the cocoli (pizza dough + honey + prosciutto + melted cheese appetizer). Extremely filling appetizer, tasted great but not worth going back for. We also got the fritto misto. The pizza looked BEAUTIFUL but the taste was so unsatisfactory that I left half of it behind and I never leave leftover pizza behind...EVER. The sauce was almost sugary and the rest of the pizza had zero flavor. After too many take-out meals, we ended at Osteria Mia in the Norterra Shopping Center even though a lot of reviews were mixed. We checked out the menu and decided to give it a try for dinner. It was still Happy Hour with numerous specials. I was wrong in my assumption that decreased prices on items labeled "small plates" would actually mean small. The large dish of Fritto misto was so good that we could have easily finished it. We stopped halfway because we didn't think we could eat our entrees. The squash and artichoke hearts was cooked perfectly in a light batter and served with an aioli dipping sauce. My first thought was it might be too powerful against the delicately fried vegetables but I could easily have ended up eating it with a spoon. I'm not a big fan of fish but my husband raved about his pasta with different varieties of seafood. I ordered the eggplant stack, another "small plate" that was larger than I could finish. I also wanted a salad that didn't come out of a bag and that I didn't have to make. The roasted beet salad arrived cold and crisp with beets (of course!) arugula, goat cheese, oranges, pistachio nuts and dressed nicely with Balsamic. I know this wasn't an "Italian dish" but I could not have chosen better. It was just so fresh and tasty! Again, I could only eat half. We shared a cannoli only because we had to try Osteria Mia's desserts and that appeared to be the smallest. Our server, Connor, was friendly, attentive without being intrusive, and offered good suggestions. I ended up boxing half of everything I ordered and I have to say it was just as good for lunch the next day. We left pleased with the service, the food, and the price. We went for the first time last night to celebrate my birthday since I've been wanting to try it out! Overall it was really good and 3/5 dishes were packed with flavor, however the overall experience is why I'm giving 3 stars. Our waitress did not seem invested or interested in being our server which was unfortunate because how excited we were to be there. She was bubbly with another table but then was just bland with ours.. I really wish the manager (I think) who greeted us could have been our server because we needed her energy!! I know a lot of places may be down some people and servers might feel over worked but it is still important to try and create a memorable experience for your customers to make them want to come back and spread good word of mouth! We will definitely give it another try and hopefully that will make me want to bump up this rating! read more

If you were blind and deaf then this place would get 10/10 because the food was astounding. That's the only reason they get two stars. Now when looking at the photos you may notice their little hallway to their bathrooms. Don't look too closely or you might find that it appears to be resembling a 1950s church bathroom and storage combo in the basement. Which is also how the one person bathroom felt on the inside too. Wait now, why would they deserve two stars for just that? Surprise there is more. Your first reaction when you enter may be "oh gosh I can't hear my friend standing next to me" or "I hope their food isn't priced too high for this atmosphere". Nextly you sit down and feel that the table is a bit small and you notice something. Why is there salt and pepper on the table or parm and peppers? I've only seen that at low grade pizza stores. Maybe this made you sweat so you grab your water, PLASTIC CUPS! But I just paid 80$ for an appetizer and two meals. And then you leave to never come back. read more

This is the one place I've yet to need to take food to go. Absolutely unparalleled quality/flavor/service. I'm beyond disappointed that I was only in town for a few weeks because this would be my "go-to" for any occasion. The food: I had the Sea Scallop Risotto (pictured) and my wife made her own pasta with gnocchi, parmesan cream, chicken, and broccolini. The scallop risotto presentation rivaled that of restaurants in New York or Chicago where you'd expect to pay $80+ a plate (mine was $32). Flavor-wise you won't get any better food in the Phoenix area, especially if you're partial to Italian. read more
