Came for $15 Pasta on Monday and left truly satisfied! I've lived nearby for 5 years and not sure why I haven't eaten here until now! The calamari and insalata romana were really good and fresh (forgot to take a pic!) Service was great, their happy hour looks good, but only at the bar area so we opted to sit outside. Navy Yard is always a nice vibe so dining outside is beautiful, but inside also has a nice ambiance as well! Will definitely be back to try other pastas!
Enjoyed my experience here though we came for dinner and the AC was not running. The food was yummy and enjoyed the atmosphere. The staff were friendly and our meals were brought out fast. I loved the tagliatelle made with bolognese sauce and my husband enjoyed the ground sausage with yolk and pasta. Enjoyed our date night and would come back again, hopefully with the ac running this time.
Our whole family spent a relaxed afternoon at Navy Yard with no particular plans, and we were delighted to discover this restaurant for dinner. Located right along the river, the outdoor seating offers spectacular waterfront views. We ultimately chose to dine inside because the interior felt authentically Italian--warm, inviting, and beautifully designed. We had a preference for a specific table, and the staff accommodated our request quickly and graciously. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The food was fantastic. My kids absolutely devoured their spaghetti, which is always a great sign! My salmon was perfectly cooked and incredibly delicious. My husband ordered the Tagliata and couldn't stop talking about how tender and flavorful it was. From the beautiful setting to the excellent service and wonderful food, this was a memorable dining experience. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the Navy Yard area!
We came here for the special Monday night deal of $15 pasta! We got the focaccia to share and I ordered the gramigna. The focaccia was incredible, would order it again. The gramigna was decent, it wasn't too flavorful and nothing really stood out about it. My wife's mushroom ragu pasta was excellent though. The food also came out very quickly, but it took almost 10 minutes for our server to come to our table initially, and my glass of wine also came out about 5 minutes after the food, almost 20 minutes after I ordered it. I would come back on a Monday but I don't think I'd pay full price for the pastas with that kind of service.
Can't believe I haven't left a review yet..but osteria Moroni is my go to lunch after my monthly facial around the corner and I love it! The pasta is made in house (and you can tell) and the sauces are so flavorful! The carbonara breakfast pasta and the tagliatalia are my favorites! I always have the same bartender since I normally sit at the bar, and he offers great recommendations based on what I want and makes the perfect mimosa! Great for a solo date or with a group of friends!
So good!!! The cocktails were amazing, and the cocktail menu was really good. The food was outstanding, lots of attention to detail, high quality and fresh. Had the fried maitake mushrooms-melt in your mouth-a must have! And of course the house made pasta was great, the mushroom rigatoni was delicious and the lamb ragu gnocchi was so good, it had Prosecco soaked apricots, holy moly delicious. The olive oil chocolate cake was amazing too, the crunchy candied hazelnuts and all the little things, so good. As you can tell, I loved this meal. Service was excellent, ambient noise is kinda loud, atmosphere is trendy, nice outside seating, parking is a pain, ok for metro, serving size is decent, not huge, and they did not have the rosemary bread and butter because the "oven broke"
One of those places that you don't want to write a review for, because you don't want to get crowded out of your favorite HH place. $7 HH Maple Old Fashions with complimentary Parmesan Popcorn will get you started at the bar and $15 pasta dishes on Mondays is an amazing deal. Food is solid and service is exceptional.
I've been here twice now. Once for a pasta making class and again for restaurant week. First the surrounding area is beautiful. After eating we walked along the water at sunset and that was pleasant. Parking wise, there's garages and a lot of you can take the metro and walk about 8 min from Navy Yard station. Now let's get to the food: I ordered the calamari as my entree and for one person it was pretty filling. I really enjoyed it, I thought it was fresh and the batter was nice and crunchy. I ordered the casarecce for my main course which wasn't anything to ride home about. I thought the pesto was pretty fresh but I wasn't wowed. Now for dessert, I clearly didn't read and ordered the torta di oilo not realizing it's the chocolate one. Now I'm not a fan of chocolate cake but figured I'd try it to see if my tastebuds have changed. And, no.... I talked to the waiter and he was gracious enough to offer the panna cotta instead which was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed the graham crackers on top which added a nice texture to it. I do want to come back here for the $15 pasta Mondays, I really enjoyed my experience!
My friends and I saw a video about the morini pancakes and were intrigued at the thought of ordering a brunch of savory and sweet pancakes - they did not disappoint. We arrived Sunday right at opening at 11 AM. We had a reservation but didn't really need it since we came at opening and we were the first ones in. We immediately ordered the misticanza which came out pretty quickly and was delicious - first time trying a truffle vinaigrette and while you could definitely taste the truffle, I don't think it was overpowering. I ordered a latte and it was solid, nothing to write home about. We ordered the diavola pancake and the tiramisu pancake pretty quickly after we ordered the salad but it took 45 minutes for them to come out so we were getting pretty antsy for them. The diavola was our favorite - the Calabrian chili honey was soooo delicious with the pancake (which was a touch sweet for our tastes), the prosciutto, and the poached egg. The tiramisu was also delicious but quite heavy since it has all the flavors of tiramisu combined with the denseness of not just a regular pancake, but a ricotta pancake. I think what we ordered was perfect for three people - if you're ravenous or really want to take home leftovers, I'd suggest three pancakes. At the end of the meal we paid in inKind and I noticed our server comped my latte (we figure because of the wait) which was appreciated. Will definitely be back to try more! Just got into town and are staying in Navy Yard to see a Nationals game tomorrow. Made it into Morini with their last seating. We've been eating a lot on this trip so we decided to share four smaller plates. We ordered the gnudi - delicious, almost sweet, the polpettine - really rich meatballs, with a touch of cheese and sauce and delicious toast, crispy zucchini - light and tasty, and the roasted beet salad (after finding out they were out of grilled peaches). Each dish was a generous portion for a small plate or appetizer. I recommend the zucchini to pair with the polpettine - a delicious combination together. I'd have liked just a bit more arugula with the beets since it's listed as a salad. The service was great, we were well tended. We sat on the patio overlooking the water and the active sidewalk for all the folks out walking dogs and babies before wrapping up their weekend. We don't get to DC often, but I'd definitely come back and I hope to try the NYC version soon.
Came here for happy hour and I did not like it at all. It was super packed, which is fine, but they didn't seem to be adequately staffed. There was one bartender serving the whole bar and then another serving the service bar. The problem is that the guy at the service bar kept interrupting the guy working the bar, and then they would sit there and chat as if there wasn't a whole entire busy bar full of people waiting for assistance. The bar was also filthy. Dirty cups and plates all over. I believe they serve popcorn to everyone at the bar too, but I never received any. Drinks were awful. I tried the Hugo Spritz and Spicy Margarita. They were both overwhelmingly sweet and nasty. I haven't tasted drinks that bad in a while. I settled on a glass of lambrusco, which was just okay. The bartender was nice though. Bathroom was also gross. I don't think I'm return.
This spot is one of the best restaurants I've been to and I think might be verrryyyy underrated Cute spot on the water I have no complaints about the ambiance. Nothing extravagant, but a nice casual place you can dress up or down at. Our server was great and knew every detail about everything and gave us great recommendations We got crispy zucchini and rosemary sea salt focaccia bread and holy sweet mother that was INCREDIBLE. I wish I lived closer because this alone made the night wow. The zucchini... the focaccia... ugh wow Then we had a splitsies entree night which is always a good idea in my opinion. We did the chef's special pasta tastings which was 4 little servings of the chef's choice pastas-- which for us this night was the tortelli, rigatoni, paglia e fieno, and the cappelletti I can't tell you which was my favorite. They were ALL so delicious, and even the ones where I wouldn't personally choose myself, were still so so good. They did not miss with anything for dinner. We also got the chicken cacciatore and the potatoes were SO PERFECT. Crispy on the outside, but not hard or crunchy, and soft on the inside. Sheesh. And THEENNNN to top it all off we had the bombolini for dessert (which comes with the pasta tastings) and oh my lordddd those we so good. They set it up with a candle and some delicious ice cream on the side as well bc we absolutely needed a third dipper to go with the caramel and chocolate sauces.
I loved this place. When I first tried it and tried their bucatini I was astounded. Best pasta I ever had to the point I ordered 2 and ate the other when I got home . The staff is so kind and when my dish was accidentally served with almonds, they removed BOTH dishes from the check. That's truly quality service and caring about your customer. Unfortunately since the first few times of going (and not being able to stop talking about it for weeks) they've changed their bucatini recipe and I'm sorely underwhelmed. The new pasta used is too hard and didn't soak up the sauce. It wasn't the buttery, creamy flavors I'm used to. I did give it one more try to see if it was a fluke, but the pasta still did not meet the standards they initially set. Look at the before and after & you'll be able to clearly see the difference. Because of this, I have not been back for months.

Ambiance: Walked in on a Monday evening and got seated immediately. The restaurant has a nice vibe with lots of warm colors, wood, and candle light but not too dark. Nice views of the waterfront. They also have outdoor seating. Parking was a little hard to find near the restaurant and the garages/lots nearby all happened to be full, probably due to a coinciding concert in the Nats stadium. The surrounding area is clean and modern. (4/5) Food: We were pleasantly surprised that they offer a Morini Monday special, where their pastas are $15 each. We ordered the Campanelle Nero and Tagliatelle for pastas, plus an Insalata Rucola and a Frozen Negroni. The Campanelle Nero was cooked perfectly and I liked the added crunch from the breadcrumbs. The Tagliatelle was slightly overcooked but still tasty. The salad was fresh and light - I liked the candied peaches but didn't think it mixed particularly well with the bacon bits. Negroni was good. The portion sizes for the pastas and salad especially were generous! (4/5) Service: Our server was great and made nice recommendations from the menu. Everything arrived quickly. The entire experience felt smooth and efficient. (5/5) Overall: I was surprised that I hadn't heard of Morini before on popular restaurant lists such as Bib Gourmand. The Monday pasta special is awesome and feels like a hidden gem. Would definitely come back to try other things off the menu! read more

We came here hoping to get a table outside, but unfortunately folks with reservations nixed that hope...we were seated inside at a table for 4, but it worked out so that we could sit next to each other to face windows - catching a bit of the outdoor scene. Our server was......hmmmmm I don't know. He didn't introduce himself - or did he? Very non-descript...he directed us to the online menu where all of the entrees had "not available" in red writing underneath the description. We were later told by after asking our awesome (can you sense my sarcasm) server "don't pay attention to that" so I ordered the shrimp risotto. He ordered a burger and crispy fries. I am giving this spot a 4 star rating mainly due to the taste of the food. It was absolutely delicious! Everything we ordered was YUMMY. The service was - meh - why did I need to ask for more water. Sigh. GO and enjoy the food! And make a reservation!!! read more

Morini Mondays!! Highly recommend Osteria Morini, especially for their $15 pasta specials on Monday nights. The atmosphere was vibrant and lively and we were sat immediately thanks to their easy online reservation system. Service was fast and attentive even with a bustling crowd. The Vignola Sling was the perfect balance of gin and aperol with notes of cherry, pineapple, and lime; perfectly refreshing for a hot evening. For dinner, the Campanelle Nero was delightful. The delicate squid ink pasta was perfectly paired with scallops, shrimp, and a spicy pomodoro sauce. Looking forward to the next time I get to dine at Osteria Morini! read more

I really wanted to like this restaurant but as a food critique and chef myself, I cannot give this place 5 stars. We ordered the whipped ricotta, burrata, rigatoni and campanelle nero. The whipped ricotta with the jam and toasted bread was fine. Nothing about it was WOW. It was just Ok and was edible. The Burrata was also just OK. Remember burrata on its own has zero flavor as a cheese. What makes it taste good is the accompaniments they choose to top it with or surround it with. Some restaurants choose to drizzle balsamic glaze, others choose honey and so on. This place chose to use "burnt roasted pistachios" as a topping. Which was a huge turn off because the pistachios were roasted incorrectly and the flavor of the pistachios was not appealing at all. Maybe choose a different topping? Or dont choose roasted pistachios, maybe choose to sprinkle raw unroasted pistachios? The canteloupe or whatever melon they chose was not needed. I think their choice of toppings was wrong. They chose the wrong items to attach to the burrata. Nonetheless it was fine. The rigatoni had a wonderful sauce which I liked. The problem came with the actual pasta itself which was very rubbery and chewy. I dont think it was thorougly cooked properly. The campanelle nero was the biggest let down of the evening. The pasta they chose was also very chewy and undercooked much like the rigatoni. Also the shape of the pasta they picked was rather obscure. This dish would of been perfect if they picked linguine. The biggest disappointment came with the shrimp and scallops. This restaurant chose to dice up the shrimp into little pieces instead of giving me actual whole shrimp. They did the same with the scallops. They cut each scallop into pieces to make it look like they are giving you a good amount. This is dishonesty. Charging 26$ for the illusion of getting shrimp & scallops is disrespectful. The sauce they picked was tasty. I liked the sauce. Had to order extra sauce since the sauce in the dish was not enough. I don't think I would be returning again. This restaurant does not embody true hospitality, generosity, or know how to properly put flavors and their technique together. read more

Spontaneously exploring the Navy Yard area. Honestly, we picked this place because we really needed to use the bathroom. LOL. BUT, I love how this restaurant looks. The architecture and design is deff the style I would like my home to be. Man oh man, we did not realize how pricey this restaurant was! So we both ordered the Burger. It was really good and juicy! I love how they made their potatoes. I believe we ordered the wrong dish since this is an Italian spot. But if they made their burger really good, I can't imagine how good their pastas are. Maybe we may come back. Better have some money saved up if you wanna eat here. read more

We went for date night during covid and it was great! We made a reservation for outdoor patio dining, which has heat lamps available, and we felt very comfortable with the amount of distance between each table. Everyone had masks on and they have a QR code available for the menu at the table. Food wise, it's always great here. To start we ordered the burrata with pumpkin seed crisps and fennel and the cacio e pepe insalata, both delicious! And for our entrees, we has the mushroom rigatoni and spaghetti pomodoro with meatballs. You just can't go wrong here! Service with awesome and we cant wait to go back! read more

Fantastic modern Italian spot in the Navy Yard area of DC. Perfect spot for a date night. We got the foccachia which came with 3 different "dips": a pesto, an olive tapenade and a roasted red pepper spread. I got the spaghetti and meatballs cause I can't resist a red sauce pasta and my wife got a mushroom sauce based pasta which she loved. The server was very helpful and attentive to us. Would definitely go back. We brought our own wine since we are more into new world wine and love our big Washington wines. Be prepared for a $35 corkage which is a bit high. read more
We were so disappointed in our meal. In fairness, we got delivery and everything is always better in person. However, for the price and reputation, we expected more. My fiancé had the tagliatelle ragú. He reports there wasn't enough sauce, and no flavor at all. He had to add salt. I got the wild mushroom rigatoni, which also didn't have much sauce or flavor. I expected a deep, rich mushroom taste, but this was just fine. The rigatoni also was a little over cooked for my taste. The dish was much improved with some salt, though it pained me to add it. I did enjoy the Rucola salad with figs and hazelnuts, but it didn't wow me. We also ordered crostini, but instead of the buttery, garlicky grilled bread we expected, it was just a bag of toasted slices that honestly seemed more stale than anything. The olive oil it came with did pack some pleasant garlic flavor, but not enough to make this anything worth ordering. We won't be getting food here again. There are other Italian restaurants in DC that make spending $25 on a pasta dish well worth it. read more

Well overall the sea bass was pretty good (yet overpriced) and I'm glad I chose this instead of the pasta. The other five friends at dinner ordered pasta dishes and we dissatisfied.I guess the most common complaint was they were just like dressed up pasta-roni. This place is way overpriced and expect to pay for everything. Those eating pasta asked for bread and they brought each of them small plates with a couple slices of bread and of course charged them. I would not recommend this place with so many other choices in the area. read more

We've eaten full on dinner here many times over the years, but we recently sat at the bar and snack on cappelletti and meatballs. The bartenders were a fun time and we'll definitely do it again. One small note -- we originally called ahead to see if there was availability before we headed over. The hostess said yes so we walked over. But when we arrived, he then said the wait would be an hour and a half despite the restaurant being empty. That was pretty annoying, but I'm glad there was bar seating available. read more

Actually 4.5 stars, but hands down, the best pasta in the area! Osteria Morini is one of few restaurants that has survived this competitive area in Navy Yard by the waterfront. They are serving fresh-made pasta with flavorful and balanced sauces. I visited with a group of 3 people and each ordered a different pasta dish to share. We got the Tagliatelle with a house Ragu sauce, squid-ink pasta with shrimp and scallops, and Carbonara with big chunks of pancetta. Of the 3 dishes, my favorite had to be the squid ink pasta. I like my pasta al dente, which this pasta was cooked to. The long pastas were cooked a little past al dente (softer chew), but still very good. Carbonara was so creamy with just the right amount of cheese and salt. I would order all three dishes again. I also ordered the Morini Bellini (peach prosecco), which was delicious. The reason for -0.5 star was the plates we were initially given were dirty. It was definitely not condensation. It was oil droplets (it was slippery when I swiped it with my finger). However, they did immediately bring us clean set of dishes. Anyways, great service, great location, and best of all, great food! read more

Bronzino with the same sides online shows a different price than what you get charged! Smh it was very good my kids don't eat fish they liked it is a plus, tiramisu basic flavor can't go wrong, also had vanilla ice cream they thought it was the best vanilla they've had. Came in with tempered expectations after reading some so-so reviews but was thoroughly impressed with our experience. We were sat despite arriving 20 minutes earlier and had excellent espresso martinis served promptly. Our server was highly attentive and had great insight on the menu. Per advice we ordered the burrata appetizer - burrata can be hit or miss but the pickled pear with it was delicious! The squid ink pasta and sausage cream pasta were both great too, through the squid ink was definitely the winner. At least 4 different people were attending our table to check in our food, drinks, tableware and just how we were generally enjoying the meal. Was a bit pricey (coming from NYCers!) but the food quality and more important excellent service more than made it worthwhile. read more

We went to Osteria Morini in Navy Yard for a celebration and the service was good. Our waiter was really attentive and we received a handwritten note from the staff. We had the calamari fritti, cappelletti, pappardelle, and tiramisu for dinner. All of the food was super tasty and paired well with the bottle of Chianti we chose. The ambiance was nice with floor to ceiling windows. This was a nice place to visit for a special celebration. read more

Food was good and service was adequate! A colleague at work and I came here for restaurant week lunch and it was worth $22 for 3 course meal. Limited choices understanably but what i picked were delicious, especially the pasta with truffle oil al dente was excellent. The chocolat dessert was devine and lastly, my arugula salad was memorable- I want more! Overall, a good neat place in a nice corner localatiôn near the water Italian during restaurant week! Our server Moises provided good service but all star rating definitely goes to the receptionist Jennifer who warmly received and gave us the best seats in the house, which set the tone for the overall awesome dining experience! Super cute place by the waterfront in DC! It's right next to the water, so you get a pretty good view through their big windows. We came here on a weekend afternoon for brunch and it was completely empty so we got seated immediately. The drinks were super cute and they had a special holiday menu. Battilardo - I think picking 3 is the right size to share for 4 people, if you add on some entrees. We were super full after. The trout was my favorite, but the prosuitto and Parmesan were also so good w the bread and sauce. Campanelle Nero - squid ink pasta was so delicious and definitely had that seafood taste. There was a decent amount of scallops and shrimp in it too. Rigatoni - this was the favorite at the table and super cheesy. Both of the pastas were perfectly Al dente. Presentation is also well-done and the portion size is reasonable. Service is quick and efficient. read more

Had a delicious lunch prior to a day of cherry blossom adventures! The pasta is made in house and you can definitely taste the quality. While pricey, I really enjoyed my meal and the portions are smaller (which I appreciated). There is plenty of seating but I would recommend a reservation. We were checking out the area where we going for dinner the following night to see what the parking situation might be and needed a place nearby for lunch so naturally we checked on Yelp! Osteria Morini came up and we went in. It deserves the ratings it's getting! The 2 course lunch menu is a steal at $28 pp. We thought the portion size would be reduced because of the price but I don't think so! The Burrata Cheese appetizer was unusual and delicious. The Meatballs were very good. Both the seafood Brodetto and the pasta Gramigna were amazing, with the pasta the "winner". With2 beers before tip the bill came to around $80. Not a cheap lunch but worth the money. read more

Came here for a cooking pasta class I found on tiktok. First of all the class was 10/10 bottomless delicious and fun w take home. The entrees we tried were gnocchi in red sauce and a ricotta ravioli in a butter sauce. And a tiramisu dessert 10/10 again. Will be back for dinner soon! read more

I was craving Italian and I'm the area and this place definitely delivered. Everything we ordered tasted great. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and we were able to get seated with no wait on a Saturday evening. They were busy inside but somehow we were seated. We tried their meatball appetizer which was delicious and one pasta with one steak dish. Everything was great and we had no complaints . We also ordered a few deserts which included a favorite of mine (affogato) . Their menu is small so I could only recommend adding a few popular pasta dishes but other than that everything was great. read more
A few months ago I went to a famous DC chefs restaurant and was disappointed. Now, I'm going with what I know, NYC baby! I have been to Osteria Morini in SOHO and loved it. I received two ROTDs for chef Michael Whites restaurants. I have met the chef, he shook my hand and it's like shaking hands with a stalk of bananas. I know leaving Osteria Morini DC, I won't leave disappointed. The restaurant is in an up and coming area of DC. Located on the waterfront, it's a beautiful spot to wine & dine. Walking to the restaurant, there is fire? Like tribal council fire! We're greeted at the host stand and I can see the place is hopping. Here's the thing with DC, I made a late reservation. If the place is hopping, why close the restaurant on a Saturday night at 11?? Keep it open! It's unnatural.. I started with a nice wine and grilled octopus. The octopus was grilled to perfection. My wife isn't usually a big fan but I explained it's Michael White, have no fear. Next main course of Branzino and Gramigna. Branzino is a Mediterranean fish, I think when Jesus fed the multitudes it was Branzino. It's the perfect fish on my dish. The Gramigna? Creamy and dreamy. Just the perfect and decedent pasta from the Chef Michael White Kitchen. When we went to Nicoletta pizza in SOHO, they used to give you fancy perugina chocolate. This is not the case with Osteria Morini. However, dessert time calls for a Tiramisu from chef Michael Whites kitchen. Perfection comes to us, my wife & I take a bite and simply nod at each other. Yes, its that good. Osteria Morini in DC is located in a prime DC waterfront location. It was a pleasure to dine here, a little slice of NYC is now in DC. Enjoy! read more
