My husband & I dined last night for our anniversary and we were so impressed by every little detail! They welcomed us with a Happy Anniversary card and we were sat right away. We started with a bottle of still water & an Italian red wine that was excellent (picture below). For appetizer, we had grilled calamari- so different than anything we've ever had! Cooked in the wood-fired oven, it was crispy and fresh, but a very small portion. Then we opted for the pasta wheel special which was handmade Taglierini infused with red wine, topped with a mushroom cream sauce and black truffles made table-side in the Parmesan wheel - SO delicious & a great show (picture below)! For entree, I had the Chef's Special Rabbit Cacciatore with fingerling potatoes- spicy and tender (picture below)! My husband had the NY Strip with truffle parm fries. The steak had a balsamic glaze on it that was carmelized and delicious! We ended our meal with cappuccinos and the homemade Italian Cheesecake with blueberry compote that was excellent too! Had dinner at Osteria Umbra a few days back. The exterior of the building was not impressive and a bit of a turnoff frankly. The food was very good however, as was the wine list. Some of the wait staff were excellent and showed a genuine care for our experience, but some were overbearing and a bit phony. Less is more and the night would've been better without some of the interruptions. The food is worth another visit. read more

We came here as a family last night. We had a slight uncomfortable situation due to a lunatic guest/group who complained about our 2 year old making noice. Upon walking in for the first time, we were greeted by the hostess immediately. Very friendly and very attentive. We were seated right away and we had drinks to start. We decided on the mussels and prosciutto appetizers which were excellent. We then had pasta dishes. Pappardelle with Bolognese and i had the orrichette With sausage , both excellent. So full we didn't get dessert. Biggest complaint was a the table next to us , the guy had a motorcycle t-shirt and wore his baseball hat throughout the night?? Such a nice looking place and atmosphere that doesn't need that! Honestly ruined the feel of eating in a nice restaurant. Will definitely be back. Waitress repeated my order, but the wrong entree came out. Waited 15 minutes for them to re-make the correct entree, while everyone else ate their dinner. The very least they could have done was offer some sort of compensation for the inconvenience, maybe a free drink or dessert, but nothing was offered up. Not the way to do business. I had a wonderful experience last weekend. The food was delicious and the service was great. The grilled octopus was melt in your mouth yum and the drinks were really good and not too sweet. First time here and we ended up at Osteria's on a lucky last minute Saturday night reservation! The food was incredible! I had the Duck Breast Carpaccio as a starter. Then for dinner we had the Tagliatelle with Duck Ragu and Maialino (Slow Roasted Rotisserie Suckling Pig.) Let's not leave out the bread with their olive oil and the hostesses that wheels around a huge cheese wheel on a cart and drops chunks of delicious cheese on your plate! Nick, our waiter, knew the menu and was attentive. As was most of the other staff that came to check up on us. Loved the all around atmosphere of the restaurant! Especially the pig on a spit! Heard good things about Chef Marco and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The staff was warm and professional and the wood fire grill blazed the room into a warm and cozy atmosphere. Cocktails were well made- Smoked Old Fashioned hit the right notes. The Sea scallop appetizer paired with a blueberry chutney base was really good- perfectly seared! And the fresh North Fork Little Creek oysters were perfect. Pasta dishes included Cacio e Pepe and cooked perfectly as was the Spaghetti Carbonara. Sourcing local ingredients, the crew at Osteria Umbra pull it all together and we look forward to returning and delving into some of the entrees. One surprise was the Sautéed Spinach- simply the best and freshest we have ever had. Don't forget dessert...so much to choose from..went with Pistachio Gelato and was perfect to end the evening on. I have never been here before but I saw something online about this restaurant and felt I had to try it and OMG I'm so glad I did from the decor to the food to the amazing staff!!! If you get Veronica as your waitress it's your lucky day she is so helpful and knowledgeable about the menu plus she is so friendly and welcoming I couldn't have wished for a better first experience and I will definitely be coming back! We came here on New Years Eve for dinner. The restaurant was packed even for covid standards. We sat at a high too in the bar area so we were pretty spaced out from everyone. We ordered drinks to start, a dirty martini and a margarita both of which we had to ask the waitress to fix. Once our drinks were fixed we ordered appetizers oysters which were some of the top oysters I have ever had and the scallops which was very different and we truly enjoyed. For our entree we ordered the Veal Osso Bucco and the lamb chops. I enjoyed the veal while is was very fatty it was tasty and a good portion, however the lamb was over cooked and cold. They were very busy and the waitress was very apologetic and attentive so we will be giving them another try on a night that is hopefully less busy! read more

We met friends for dinner here for the first time. We had heard so much about it, looked at the menu on line, and had great expectations. The service was attentive and responsive. Carlos the manager stopped by to introduce himself and after we received our cocktails the evening seemed to be heading in the right direction. The quality of the food was great, it was the portion size that was the problem. Two small chops for $54? Half a dollop of mashed potatoes? My wife who quite often orders sea bass usually can't finish her meal and rarely eats the bread. We both came away hungry, very unsatisfied. The waitress kept on refilling the bread basket and I wonder if there was a good reason for that. Keep the bread coming to take your mind off the entree?? Of all the restaurants my wife and I have eaten at, never has the bread been replenished without request, yet here, repeatedly, and we needed it!! For the price we paid for these meals we should not be coming away hungry. Never have I faced this in our dining experience. Osteria Umbra located off Terry blvd serves exceptional Italian food and cocktails. Everyone's temperature gets checked at the door, once entered into the main bar area the open kitchen with wood fire gives a cozy feeling and authenticity to the ambiance of the restaurant. We tried their scallops over the blueberry reduction and grilled calamari, both were cooked to perfection and delicious. The main course we had the bone in ribeye and the calcio pepe, the steak was a perfect medium and the cheese on the pasta not salty at all which was perfect. Marcos wife bakes all the desserts in house and the trio of gelatos which were hazelnut,chocolate and pistachios were all great along the tiramisu.
