This was my third visit to OTB at the Boathouse, and it continues to be a reliable favorite. I've brought both dates and friends here, and it has never disappointed. The food is consistently good, the beer selection is varied enough that everyone can find something interesting to try, and the service is always warm and friendly. Most recently, we met friends here because it was conveniently located halfway between our homes, and we had a great evening. We went here for the first time on Memorial Day just before 4 pm and got seated inside right away. We split the "Curb Hoppers" fried cheese curds and they were perfectly seasoned and so delicious! I got "The Cog" aka Cobb salad with crispy chicken & balsamic vinaigrette and it was incredible! I'm weird & picky with chicken dishes, but the crispy chicken was great! My fiancé got the "Double Flat" smashburger and devoured it - he let me try a bite and it was so yummy! The fries weren't as good as we were hoping unfortunately - they were a little too crispy and almost airy. But the ranch was so good! We also got a couple of their "Free Wheelers" mocktails! I can't remember the names now and can't find them, but mine was a cucumber & mint drink, and his was a berry & ginger beer drink. Both were so refreshing! Our server was super sweet, and she brought out a pitcher of water for us to keep at our table, because I'd downed the first two cups super fast (we had walked/jogged the north park loop beforehand). We have been coming here since they opened. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's such a beautiful location in North Park, especially if you get lucky enough to eat on the patio. You can watch the kayakers on the water or people on the shore. The lake is so calming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is always so good. We love their burgers. My husband is very picky and likes their burger with bacon and (stay with me), peanut butter. It sounds weird but is delicious. It is so creamy and pairs so well with the burger. Based on my friend's recommendation, we decided to go here after walking around the Rachel Carson Trail for a while since we were in the Allison Park area. He strongly recommended the chimichurri chicken, so I ordered it. I like that there's a healthier part of the menu too, although with what I ordered, I wish there were more salad greens. It tasted excellent with the chimichurri sauce, but I wish it was less heavy on the rice. More lettuce greens and less rice, or even completely swapping the rice for a salad, would have made me like this a lot more. Maybe even just calling it or having the option for a chimichurri salad and making it a really robust salad with more greens and vegetables. The rice wasn't bad, just kind of an excessive portion and didn't really go with the meal. My friend really loved his burger, and the pulled pork sandwich was good. While I'm not usually a French fry person, theirs were good, and I would actually recommend serving the fries with the spicy cheese dip they serve with the soft pretzels to take it up a notch. That was an interesting choice for an appetizer. While I'm not really a beer person, I can say the beer they serve here is very smooth after trying a sip lol. The location is perfect! I love enjoying a meal by the water, and appreciate a breeze from the fans on a hot day! Good service and my Rachel Carson wrap was tasty. It had great heat from the hot sauce. There wasn't enough chicken for such a large pita, but the flavor was good. My side salad was fine for an alternative to fries but lacking for an up charge. One of the nicest atmospheres you could have for a good meal, especially in the warmer months. It is also very kid friendly. My wife, two kids, and I sat outside on the deck area. All the kayakers and the water kept the kids distracted. I've been to the other OTB locations and the food at this one is just as delicious. My wife and I split the chicken Caesar wrap. It was made perfect and had great flavor. Highly recommend the firehouse dip and the burgers here as well. read more

I recommended Over The Bar to my dad after he completed a marathon, expecting a great experience to celebrate. Unfortunately, it turned into a very disappointing and frustrating situation. I have medically necessary food allergies and brought my own food for safety. Even after clearly explaining this, I was told I had to leave due to their no outside food policy. What was most concerning wasn't just the policy, but how it was handled. There was no empathy, no willingness to understand, and the interaction felt dismissive and unprofessional. Situations involving medical or dietary needs should be approached with far more care and awareness, especially considering the importance of accommodating health-related restrictions. This experience raised serious concerns about how guests with medical needs are treated, and whether adequate consideration is given to accessibility and accommodation in situations like this. I hope management takes a closer look at their approach. read more

Had a spectacular lunch here while watching the dragon boat festival. The view is amazing. The staff is very sweet and attentive. The menu is very cute and offers some fun facts about the area. The food is normally good but this visit the portion sizes were a little off. It was a full bowl of rice with a tiny piece of salmon. Just an update to the earlier review as things have changed a little bit. The food here is still excellent and the service was pretty quick. The cocktails however have gone off a cliff though unfortunately. All 4 cocktails we ordered were extremely watered down and had little to no taste to them. It's a shame, as they previously killed it on the drink menu as it is now a a shadow of its former self. My advice would be to go for beers if desiring anything alcoholic. read more

Always enjoy some OTB at the boathouse. They got some pretty solid food options. During my most recent visit, I went with their peanut butter burger. Sounds weird - but it's a great choice if you're in a burger mood. Nice big cheeseburger slathered with homemade peanut butter and topped with a ton of pickles. So good. Fries were tasty as well. We stopped in after paddle boarding and ordered the disc break bean cakes and silent spring rolls. Based on previous reviews and not having been here in a few years, I didn't go into my experience with high hopes aside from the views. To my pleasant surprise, everything was quite enjoyable! Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Our table was closest to the lake but didn't have an umbrella, I'm assuming to avoid obstructing the view to others, however it was quite hot without one. I haven't been here in a bit and was on a walk with my wife when we decided to go. I checked in online through Yelp which showed a wait, but they were far from one as it was after 8:00pm. So, takeaway, call if you are off hours and it seems like there is oddly a wait. We both got burgers and they were fantastic. Huge. Lots of options for sides with a small up charge (side salad, fries, coleslaw, onion rings, basically any side on their menu is an option) Beer choices were excellent. They post them online and always have a few local favorites from Grist and Arsenal. This is a good spot that doesn't try anything crazy; it's located right in the park.
