A little while ago I pre ordered some gluten free bagels online a little less than 24 hours in advance only to be called 5 minutes before pick up time and told they had run out of gluten free bagels - the exact situation I was trying to avoid. But you know what? I wasn't mad. Had to update this review with several follow-up concerns. First of all, their pumpernickel bagel was absolutely disgusting and the worst pumpernickel bagel I remember ever trying. Two went straight into the trash can, as they were totally inedible. I'm not sure what they screwed up on those. Other bagels that were edible seemed more baked than properly boiled and baked, as they are too soft. It is also bad below the bar service to not have any phone number to contact this business to order food or follow up on issues as even their web site only has email contact information and no phone number, and I couldn't find a phone number on any of the typical ways like Yelp or Google Search. Loved my initial experience in store but need to go to 1 stars because of these annoying issues and being difficult to contact to check product availability, make orders, or follow-up on concerns. read more

If you dream about bagels, then you are my people. No store bought bagel is ever satisfying. But, sometimes wishes come true and now Bellingham has a charming place to eat a proper bagel. We ordered a ham and cheese and a NW smoked salmon bagel. Although, I thought the smoked salmon was a tiny bit salty (says the salt lover) and they put it on the wrong bagel ( hey, it was a delish mistake) I will return with my tribe. Parking is hard to find, so you are going to log some steps but the end result is worth it. read more

Overall good bagels and the service was outstanding for our first visit! Store looked immaculate and the open kitchen was nice also the price was very reasonable and the smear of choice was generous. Good bagels! Good size and texture! Maybe on the saltier side probably just the batch I recieved but still enjoyable. Service is not the fastest but definitely very nice staff!! I give this place 2 stars for the flavor and deliciousness of the schmear and the environment of the store. Because everything else was bad. I haven't been to a good bagel place in WA ever. This place did all the negatives I was hoping it wouldn't. When you ask for a toasted bagel... why is it that everywhere only toasts the outside, all ready hard part? And not the chewy overly doughy inner part... like toasters have a 'bagel setting' specifically to fix this issue... like just toast the whole bagel.... Because your schmear will soak into the dough and become more chewy... it's not good. Toast both sides. I really hate to pull this card but using a word like 'schmear' in your menu instead of 'cream cheeses', insinuates Jewishness, which I was REALLY looking forward to a real Jewish bagelry. Having grown up with bagels and lox being a Jewish family tradition every Saturday, I was again disappointed... Also.. ordered an iced latte. It was terrible and here's why, when you 'Pull a shot' of espresso, you have a limited amount of time to pour the shot into something like milk or whatever you use, before the 'shot dies' and becomes sour and tastes burnt. So if you've ever had a coffee that tasted like sour milk or burnt chocolate... it's the dead shot of espresso. Needless to say my iced latte was 10 years deceased, took 2 sips and threw it away. There is no reason why the shots had to die... especially in an iced latte... u literally just pour them into cold milk. Also the bagels are too small and there was not enough of anything actually on the bagel as far as toppings. read more

It's been a couple weeks since I had a bagel at Otherside and I'm still thinking about it. My husband and I tried different bagel sandwiches and they were both absolutely delish! Then, the next morning, we went back and tried aan herb and salt bagel with garlic and herb schmear and that was just *chef's kiss*. Bagels aside, the space is beautiful and thoughtfully created, and the coffee is also delicious. Otherside Bagel Co. will be my first stop next time we are in town! read more

If you are seeking a super hip vibe, the friendliest of staff, and beautifully presented food, this is the place for you. However. If you are seeking delicious bagels, I highly recommended that you look elsewhere. The place is hopping; you don't necessarily have to take my word for it, but both times that I ate Otherside bagels, I thought, 'is it possible that I am in a different universe from these other smiling patrons?' The sesame bagel with cream cheese tasted overwhelmingly of burnt sesame seeds and the everything bagel was so thickly coated with salty, salty seasoning mix that I wondered if the bagels were flukes. I believe that they were not, as each of their respective bagel companions, visible in the baskets behind the register, looked identically caked in misfortune. Why would someone ruin a perfectly good bagel with such toppings you may ask? There's the rub. I hypothesize that the toppings are designed to divert the consumer's attention away from the bagel underneath, the texture of which lacks the chewy goodness that any bagel lover would expect from a carefully crafted bagel. The flavor of the dough is odd (are they messing around with whole wheat back there? Because while I appreciate the use of organic flour, there is no need for the flavor of organic flour to be so strange). The last unfortunate feature was an onerously think layer of cornmeal on the bottom of each bagel that added an unnecessary flavor and grittiness to each bite. I know that I am a very lucky to be alive and am grateful for so much in my life. I am incredibly privileged to have been nourished by the bagels that I ate at Otherside. But as someone that is passionate about delicious bagels and have sampled bagels from bagel shops and Jewish delis across the country, I would advise bagel lovers in Bellingham to opt for The Bagelry if they are looking for tasty bagels. read more

The bagels are always amazing, great coffee, etc. But what I want to comment on is the SERVICE. Let me tell you a story. I come in at 2:30 on Tuesday, they close at 3:00. I ask for two jars of pickles. These pickles have a chokehold on my family to the point where my sister has asked me to bring two jars of pickles for her New Year's Eve party. I ask for two jars and there are exactly two jars left. I happily grab my pickles and leave. On the way to the car, tragedy strikes. I drop one of the jars, pickles fall and go everywhere on the sidewalk. I'm on the verge of tears and humiliated. I sheepishly collect the pickles and go back inside to throw them away and apologize profusely. The staff tells me that they're getting another jar ready for me and that they will clean it up and not to worry at all. This was all thirty minutes before closing. Within 5 minutes, I'm handed a fresh jar of pickles and a gentleman is out mopping the sidewalk where pickle juice is. The lady working walked the new jar out to my car for me to ensure no other accidents happened. To the staff working on Tuesday afternoon 12/19, THANK YOU! The pickles have made it safely home and my sister is eternally grateful! I cannot recommend this place enough! read more

really good! it's super cute inside, lots of fun decor. the bagels are so yummy! my favorite is the blueberry and i like to get it with triple berry cream cheese! i haven't gotten a chance to try the coffee but i'm sure it's well worth it as they have a nice espresso machine and the workers seem like they know what they're doing! you can also take home a container of multiple different flavors of cream cheese which is nice! read more

Excellent, hearty bagels. Particularly like the pumpernickel. Lox bagel and lox cream cheese, both great. Very friendly and attentive service- SO different from the old bagel place in town (I stopped going there years ago). I'm not partial to the cement decor, but I understand that's a millennial style, so. Plenty of room. Coffee good too with a couple of different types. The only suggestion I would make is keeping the canned drinks that have CBD separate from regular ones- I nearly bought CBD by mistake! I thought, raspberry soda, cool. On the can the letters CBD were very very pale gray (to my eyes) so I didn't realize it had CBD until I saw it almost by accident on the cashier's screen. I have nothing against CBD in general but I don't want to try it unintentionally. But overall really like this place & will be back often. read more
